BUDGIE Still Rocks!.......2006-01-05
Having heard BUDGIE for the first time in the mid-70's, I was VERY impressed then and still am today. The guitarist on this album is a mixture of Toni Iommi (Black Sabbath), Rick Emmett (Triumph) and Alex Lifeson (Rush). The guitar tracks will spin your head. They are labeled by some as a metal band but back in the 70's they were considered Hard Rock at the heaviest. BUDGIE went on to influence many guitarists of other genures which is a testament to the talent of this 3-piece band. If you seek a 70's based Rock band with MUCH talent, take a listen to "If I Were Brittania" and all the previous releases.
Another Classic from the British Rockers.......2003-12-14
I got this album on CD recently, when I decided that my turntable needs to be retired. Definitely one of the best Budgie albums from the "middle" period, good rockers and ballads which have not really aged much in 25 years or so. Given the outrageously short playing time, I would like to have got it on one CD combined with the equally good Impeckable. Budgie never really made it big in UK, although they were deservedly appreciated in Europe. Does that prove something?
Budgie Waives The Bloody Rules!!!!.......2002-02-11
Though not as consistent as most of the albums from their "classic" period with Tony Bourge on guitar, I can't rate any Budgie with Bourge lower than 4 stars. The title cut is the standout with more tricky changes in rhythm and feel than you can shake a stick at.A few things like "Anne Neggen" the opener are a little average for Budgie."Sky High Percentage" and "Black Velvet Stallion" are fine heavy moments. It looks like most of the reviews on this page (including another one of mine)are actually for the Impeckable album and listed with the wrong record.
Budgie Lives!.......1999-04-07
I listened to this album when it was new and thought they would make it bigtime. What happened? Now that M****ica says they listened to Budgie, everyone will go out and buy it and see what they've been missing. The guitar solo alone, in Black Velvet Stallion, is worth buying this CD for.
Budgie was an amazingly good metal band........1999-01-14
Although Budgie never got the recognition that they deserved, they are finally having some degree of praise, thanks to Metallica, another excellent band many of you may have heard of. Budgie,a three piece band from Wales, played some of the most intense, yet subtle hard rock that should have been extremely popular with the masses, but sadly was not. Budgie's If I Were Brittania... is a timeless classic that sounds as fresh today as it did in 1976. Fans of Zeppelin, Rush and other powerful metal bands will love the best undiscovered power trio of the 70's,Budgie. Just remember to-CRANK IT UP.

Change is Good.......2007-03-26
On this album Budgie starts to incorporate other styles, such as a little funk into their hard rock/metal formula, and the results are great. The band never sounded tighter. The songs are all good, with Tony doing a great lead vocal on the classic Heaven Knows Our Name. The standout for most fans seems to be Black Stallion, which never sounded better here. I love the title track as well. These aren't the loose free-for-all jams they've done in the past, but finely crafted well-produced songs. Something they really started doing on Bandolier. Although not my favorite Budgie, I find myelf playing it quite a bit. As for the bonus tracks, they are re-recorded in 2006, which although okay (black stallion remake is nice) I could live without them. I would of preferred some live tracks from the 70s instead.
