Nasty Savage : "Wage Of Mayhem".......2003-08-22
The song "Wage Of Mayhem" is kind of weak for Nasty standards IMO. It's not bad, but it's just not the same force that Nasty Savage laid out on "Indulgence" or "Penetration Point". Age may finally be catching up to Nasty Ronnie and the crew....
However, the thing I really like about this release are the demos. They are fun to listen to in their uncut stages, and have an old school feel to them as a result. The song "Witches Sabbath" is incredible, and it makes this release worth purchacing if your a collector of anything Nasty Savage has released....
That's basically what I would consider this....
A collector's item, with a 3 1/2 star rating....

Album Description
Originally released as a demo in 1984, this 2003 reissue adds two brand new songs, their first new songs in 13 years. Two of the four demos - 'Witches Sabbath' and 'Savage Desire' have never been released while 'XXX' and 'Unchained Angel' are much different than the re-recorded versions. The two new tracks are 'Wage of Mayhem' (part one) and 'Sardonic Mosiac'. Six tracks in all on CD 1, plus a bonus CD sampler from Crook'd Records with 16 tracks from such labelmates as Cro-Mags, Gardy-Loo!, Overdrive, Deceased & more. Crook'd Records.Customer Reviews:
"Wage Of Mayhem" : Rare / Solid Collectable.......2003-06-26
There is simply no other Metal band that sounds like Nasty Savage, and they have always stayed true to their roots. These guys were/are one of the true pioneers of the Death Metal scene in Tampa Bay. They aren't really classified as Death Metal IMO, and there is really no way to label this band. Their sound is unique in every sense of the word....
This latest release is decent, but you can tell that the times may have finally caught up with the Nasty boys here. "Wage Of Mayhem" the song, isn't all that great. It's just not the awesome Nasty Savage of the past. It's alright, but I was expecting something better....
"Wage Of Mayhem" the release, is very impressive however. It's got tons of old tunes, and also contains the epic "Witches Sabbath", {which I think is worth the price alone}. It also contains Remakes/Demos of old classics like "XXX" and various others from "Indulgence" which makes this release quite rare, and a very good collectors item.
This is really for Nasty Savage fanatics only. If you're just getting into Death Metal, and you'd like to hear Nasty Savage, I'd buy "Indulgence" first. If you like that {which you should}, I'd then buy "Penetration Point" followed by their debut "Nasty Savage".
