Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Superb change of scenery for the OM series........2007-01-21

I believe this is actually OM's second foray into the tech side of house, a big change from the funky and soulful house they are usually known for. The first was a mix called Electrolush, and it seemed forced how they tried to blend techno, tech house, electro and funky house into the same mix, and it didn't work at all. The discs were 3 tracks of one genre, 3 tracks of the next, and so on and so forth, to where it seemed like they just lined up the different tracks by genre, with no regard to the flow of the overall mix. Also, I didn't appreciate funky house in the same mix as techno; it just doesn't work.

This, their second real foray out of their usual house groove, has both discs starting off with some standard house, and after 3 of 4 tracks of each mix, we quickly get some heavy doses of tech house the rest of the way. It's good track selections, good mixing, and great flowing sounds from both Justin Martin on disc 1 and Johnny Fiaso on disc 2. Fiasco does return to some house tracks near the end of his mix, so disc 1 has more of the tech tracks. They both sound great and after being burned by some previous OM releases in the past, I've finally found what I consider the best they've ever released, and a highly recommended 2 disc set.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent mix of deep house with a modern electro tech edge!.......2006-12-28

This mix compilation is SO good! 50% of it is the deep house-y goodness I would expect from OM Records and the other 50% is a fresh, new, modern sound of deep tech-y robot funk! It's deep yet edgy, smooth yet funky, chilled yet rockin' ... it's hard to explain as I haven't really heard a compilation like this before. I own a lot of house, deep house, techno, tech-house and progressive house music and this is one of the freshest house mixes that I have heard in a few years.

Awesome track selection, great beats, beautiful textures chilled in the funky winter air. If you are a true house music lover and want to hear a possible new direction for the genre, pick up this 2 disc mix!

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Lighter but not lacking..........2005-07-23

Some will complain "not heavy enough" but this release definitely is not lacking in the songwriting ability that are Lana and company. When the intensity of Lana's other releases just don't fit the moment, you'll find yourself reaching for this disc. The original material is captivating and there are hypnotizing remakes of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and "California Dreamin.'" The disc runs just shy of an hour but could be easily extended once "Carry Me Home" hits your speakers. This is an incredible tune that screams "replay" each time you hear it so it might just delay your getting to the rest of the selections!

3 out of 5 stars Puts me to sleep.......2004-06-11

Im not saying it is really bad but I was hoping for some heavy tunes...But I have to say put the earphones on when your about to go to sleep and put the cd in and your good to go..
Cleveland ROCKS!!!

2 out of 5 stars C-minus for Lana.......2004-03-17

Unfortunately, Lana doesn't seem to be moving anywhere with this uninspiring release. A couple of covers here are the best sounding tracks here and that says something... Perhaps "Carry Me Home" is more or less close to her best songs but this is definitely far cry from her previous albums like "Queen Of The Ocean" or "Garden Of The Moon". What's regrettable is that Lana and Erik keep producing these all-sound-alike songs which could have shined if they just spent more time on coming up with some fresher and more ambitious tunes (lyrics are OK by me). To recap, I was definitely expecting more for my money. Too bad...

5 out of 5 stars More in the Factory vein.......1999-08-18

Soundtrackish instrumental music encompassing and transcending genres from rock to classical guitar to drum-n-bass... almost any given song is worth the album's price. Music left on the Factory Blue cutting floor, to continue the movie metaphor, plus a few others. There is a clear delineation of styles between the moody Factory Blue material and the remaining few tracks, which are generally more upbeat. However, the entire album is, like the rest of Gooding's opus, utterly brilliant.

I am a long-time Johnny Winter fan and own most of his releases.
This was a total waste of money. It is absolutely the most poorly recorded CD I own. What you can hear of Johnny is great as
always, but the sound quality is incredibly bad. Buy this only if you want a prime example of how a CD should NOT sound.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent House Mix .......2005-04-05

It is rare to see any Pacha mixes here in the States so when I saw this one I bought it hoping that it would be as good as other recent Pacha Mixes - particularly Wally Lopez's mix for Pacha last year. So far it sounds as if the first Luis Lopez mix is the stronger of the two - the other by Angel Linde. Cd1 has a solid set of songs ranging from balaeric to tribal that are mixed very well. The energy is consistent throughout with only one tech house song to break up the flow before returning to more excellent house to carry you out. The second set is much more tech house sounding and may be a little more experimental and underground, if this is your thing then this mix will definitely work for you. I personally prefer the more propulsive sound of house that makes up the majority of Luis
Lopez's first mix so for me this mix alone is worth the price of the CD.
