Great CD.......2006-11-01
This CD is awesome. I was lucky enough to hear Eric play in Utah and he has an amazing voice. There is no foul language and it is entertaining for the whole family.
An amazing voice and a worthwhile message!.......2006-10-27
I love this CD - Eric's songs range from the thought-provoking, to the nostalgic, to the just plain fun! I'm not even a big country fan, but I think that his music appeals to a wide range of audiences! To top it all off, everything I've heard about him and seen of him during interviews, shows him to be a very sweet, down-home, humble kind of guy, who just happens to have extraordinary talent!
Absolutely Wonderful!.......2006-10-24
I loved this CD. It has a good mix of songs on it from several fun and light-hearted songs to songs that provoke deep thought and reflection on life. Eric is very talented and I recommend this to everyone.
Great music.......2006-10-16
I love to listen to Eric Dodge's music and this is a great cd. It has been so inspiring to me. His music is not only entertaining, but it makes me want to be a better person - to really think about what I'm doing with my life...

Be-boppin away!.......2007-05-13
My 15 month old Loves this cd! The songs are so up-beat and the lyrrics are extrememly catchy! It's a great way to entertain the little ones!
New Songs! Yeeeah!.......2007-03-14
This CD is very catchy, lots of great new original songs and some familiar ones from our childhood too (Row row row your boat). The Wiggles crew did some nice songwriting for this CD, and although the songs are fun and singable like all the Wiggles tunes, these are a little more jazzy and have great variety. My kids instantly fell in love with this CD and request it in the car everytime we drive somewhere. The Racing to the Rainbow DVD is also very good! This is the last CD with Greg doing the singing, worth the money. Give this one an A+ !

The Elders get better and better..........2007-03-02
This is a fantastic CD. The Elders are different than The Pogues, or Flogging Molly, but have a style that fans of those great bands will enjoy. Standouts include Bad Irish Boy, Send a Prayer, Racing the Tide, Gonna Take a Miracle, and Saint Brendan Had a Boat. One of my missions for the next year or two is to travel to see The Elders, since it doesn't look like they'll be in California in the near future. Check out earlier CD's as well, you can't go wrong.
Fantastic New Release from The Elders.......2007-02-17
Racing the Tide, the newest release from The Elders, shows off all the immaculate musicianship, strong songwriting and story telling skills of this Kansas City based Celtic rock band. Formed in 1998 The Elders have been rocking Kansas City and Celtic festivals across the country for the last 7 years. County Wicklow native Ian Byrne fronts the band, lead singer, bohdran and battle drum, with Steve Phillips, guitar (formerly of The Rainmakers), Brent Hoad on fiddle, Norm Dahlor on bass, Tommy Sutherland - drums, and relative newcomer to the band, Joe Miquelon on keys.
Foot tapping, sing-along beckons as the Cd opens with Send a Prayer. The band are well known for telling "true stories" at their live shows, and the first track is followed by some of these true stories... Uncle Charlie, Story of a Fish and Bad Little Irish Boy (could this bad little irish boy be Ian we wonder?). The title track Racing the Tide is my favourite cut on this CD, wonderful harmonies. Brent Hoad's incredible lyrics are showcased in Dear God, St Brendan Had a Boat (another true story if legends are to be believed). The track Australia is a departure from the majority of the Elders tunes, putting one in mind of a 1920's speakeasy. You'll rock out with Gonna Take a Miracle, and Right with the World.
I strongly encourage you to buy this CD.... and see The Elders live if you ever get the chance - you won't be sorry.
Excellent.......2007-02-12
The Elders are an excellent Celtic band. They have songs with energy and meaning along with fun. Ian is a great lead singer and the band has awesome harmony as well. Their songs DO stick in you head long after the last track. Well done...CHEERS!
Racing the Tide, by the Elders.......2007-02-12
A truly remarkable CD. The music is original and ranges from driving, up-tempo pieces that make the listener want to "crank it up" to a couple of tunes that slow things down just enough to help you get into the story that the song tells. Lyrics are creative and compelling. Some are just for fun, some tell important stories, and they stay in your head long after you turn the CD off. This is good stuff! D Schaal

Album Description
Doris Day takes the Tony award-winning Broadway smash The Pajama Game and transforms it into one of her most memorable screen hits. This original Columbia recording captures the spirit and playfulness of the stage version with John Raitt, Eddie Foy Jr., and Carol Haney recreating their Broadway roles. Steam Heat, Hey There and Hernando's Hideaway are but a few of the show-stopping songs featured on this historic soundtrack. 11 tracks are included on this lovingly remastered edition with a bonus track, Man Who Invented Love by Doris Day with Frank DeVol and His Orchestra. 2001 reissue.
Customer Reviews:
Doris Day - Perfect Casting!.......2007-05-09
For once they got it right. Doris Day being cast as Babe Williams was the smartest thing Warner Brothers ever did. Of course, the original idea was to have Frank Sinatra to take over the male lead in the movie version. Sinatra couldn't accept, but if he had, Janis Paige would have played Babe. With no Sinatra as a boxoffice draw, Jack Warner needed a star. Doris Day was promised sole star billing above the title if she accepted the picture. Janis was out and John Raitt (top-billed on Broadway) was in, but would be billed below the title in the movie version.
Usually, Hollywood gets it wrong. They denied Ethel Merman for "Gypsy" and hired Rosalind Russell, who could not sing; they bypassed Julie Andrews for "My Fair Lady" and hired movie star, Audrey Hepburn, who also couldn't sing and Carol Lawrence was told "you're out and Natalie Wood is in" when "West Side Story" came to the screen. Natalie couldn't sing either. Marnie Nixon's voice was used for both Wood and Hepburn and Lisa Kirk's voice subbed for Russell.
With Doris Day, they got everything: a top movie star, an expert singer , a trained dancer and skilled actress. Plus, she was beautiful and took full command of the role of Babe. I just wish they had kept "The Man Who Invented Love" in the picture. I've never seen a Day musical in which she didn't have a couple of ballads of her own. In this film, they attempted to right that wrong with "Invented Love" but dropped it so that Doris could reprise "Hey There" for historical purposes. They wanted Day on film singing that legendary song.
Overall, a wonderful transition from stage to screen.
Pajama Game Movie Soundtrack.......2007-03-16
Love love love this CD. I am so glad the movie version of Pajama Game with Doris Day came out. I have been a fan of this movie since we did the musical when I was in high school in 1980. The movie soundtrack is so much better than the Broadway Recording. Janis Paige just doesn't sing as well as Doris Day. I highly recommend this CD if you are a fan of musicals and Doris Day.
Energy To Burn.......2006-07-31
I know that the revival of "The Pajama Game" is a hit-of-the-moment on Broadway, but I still recommend that fans of the revival check out the soundtrack to the 1957 film version of the show. Warner Brothers treated the property in a more respectful manner than was the norm and even imported most of the New York to Hollywood to recreate their roles "in perpetuity." The new addition was box office magnet Doris Day who had already proven in "Calamity Jane" that she could bring rambunctuous charm to the musical. Hearing Day and John Raitt putting "There Once Was A Man" through its paces can still send a shiver down my aging spine.
Doris Day leads cast in lively film verson of Broadway hit.......2004-02-08
Your choice between the original Broadway cast and the movie soundtrack depends largely on your preference for either Janis Paige on the former and Doris Day on the latter.
Day sings it better, however the Broadway cast album has better sound as well as an overture and three songs, "A New Town is a Blue Town", "Her Is" and "Think of the Time I save" were dropped from the movie.
The soundtrack album, however, includes extended dance music from "I'll Never Be Jealous again" and "Once-a-year-day" and despite the boxy Warner Bros soundtage sound, the music is given a lively performance.
I'm only 16 and I love the movie and soundtrack.........2003-12-08
This is an exellent soundtrack baby. Doris Day has the purrfect vocie, full righ and clear. I'm only 16 and realize taht Doris posseses the finest vocie of any female on the planet. If you like the mvoe or Doris' singing you will LOVE this cd.

Great album with acoustic vibe.......2007-03-30
The album starts with the touching "Wait For Jane," peaks with the incredible "Cindy," then rides off into the sunset with "Andy Climb Down." The album has a gripping acoustic vibe that blends triumphantly with Stephen O'Reilly's vocals. A powerful performance without raucous instrumentals that is worth a listen.
Best album from the band.......2007-01-10
This is by far the best album by Tammany Hall NYC. I could do a review of each track, but what's the point? Every review would be "awesome track".
If you've heard some of their other work, or more commonly, if you've heard some tammany on the tv show Scrubs, then this is definitely an album you want
acoustic perfection.......2006-03-31
I first heard the song "Wait For Jane" when it was used as "Wait For You" in an HBO promo for their Sunday Night lineup back in 2002. I immediately had to know who sang that song. My research led me to Tammany Hall NYC. I ordered the CD right away since it was only available on their website at the time. I was not disappointed. This disc is solid from beginning to end.
"Always On Sunday" was another song that HBO used, I believe, and it is simply amazing. I can't say enough about these guys, how they are still flying under the radar is beyond me.
I give this CD 5 stars because of the "turd factor". The "turd factor" score here is 0. Which is good. A turd is a song that is so unlistenable that it is a must skip. You can enjoy this CD from beginning to end and throw the CD remote away and let it play.
My search for their music has definitely paid off, this CD is still in my regular rotation 4 years after buying it.
Had given up on music until..........2003-03-22
Tammany Hall NYC is incredible. I own over 800 CDs and for the past 6 months haven't bought a single piece of music because nothing out there was of interest to me. Until, I heard this band on HBO. It took forever for me to figure out who they were. I bought their album immediately and it is all I listen to. They have instantly become one of my favorite bands. Like other reviewers have written, every song can stand alone, not one song sounds like the next. The music is unlike any I've ever heard before. I highly recommend this album if you're looking for something that you didn't believe was even out there.
Amazing!.......2002-11-10
I absolutely LOVE this band. This is the kind of music that you not only hear but feel. To the individual who what wondering about what song was on the HBO commercial, it is called Waiting For You, which is a remake of Waiting For Jane. The entire song is the same except they replaced Jane with You in the title and lyrics. Either version is great. I only hope more people come to learn about this band.

WONDERFUL!!!.......2007-07-20
Vaghn Monroe has a unique voice that sends you into another place and time. When listening to this CD I felt myself swaying to the music. I love it!!! And for all of you 40's music fans, this is a must have treasure!!!
Racing with the moon/Vaughn Monroe.......2006-07-23
As a lover of big band music i must say this was great stuff and would reccomend it.I was not yet born when this music was popular but I envy the people who were. You could dance close to your girl and the lyrics you could understand.Thank you!
Vaughn Monroe still great!!.......2006-02-25
If you are a big band fan, then this album is a must. Lots of great standards, plus V. Monroe's hit and signature tune, Racing with the Moon.
Racing With the Moon.......2005-08-27
Great songs -- great audio -- like having the whole band in your living room -- music as it was meant to be heard.
Still Racing With the Moon.......2001-07-25
Over the past two or three years, there have been a number of releases of the recordings made by Band Leader-Singer, Vaughn Monroe. This is quite remarkable because up until 1997, the only CD I could find was one issued by an Ohio company which seems now to be out of print.
That said, we now have not one, but two CDs bearing the title, "Racing With the Moon" which anyone whose past 45, knows as the theme song of Vaughn Monroe. That other release, which I have previously reviewed, focuses more on the live broadcasts from the Camel Caravan radio show which Monroe headed up on Saturday nights, first over CBS and later, NBC.
This CD features strictly RCA Victor releases and includes most of the top hits of Vaughn as well as a number that reached the top five of the charts. Let's look at a few:
"Seems Like Old Times" is usually associated with Guy Lombardo but I think, and I admit a bias, this version which includes the chorous is better than Lombardo's."Rum and Coca Cola" is also a lively rendition of the song made popular by the Andrews Sisters who had a superior recording. What is interesting about "Rum" however, is that it was issued to "cover" the Andrews version but when it was turned over to the "B" side, it featured the All-Time Favorite, "There I've Said it Again"!
I especially liked the old Betty Hutton song, "I wish I din't Love You So" which is again sung with the chorous and made it to #4 on the Hit Parade. "Bamboo", a mild hit from the early 1950s displays Vaughn's vocal talents and "Mule Train" which Frankie Laine made famous was sung by Monroe in his Western, "Singing Guns"
A comment on the content. I applaud the producers of this CD for including only Vaughn Monroe on the vocals. Too many of the other CD's issued under Monroe's name in these listings give too much emphasis to novelty songs by Ziggy Talent, a girl vocalist, and several instrumentals. It occurs to me that people who buy Vaughn Monroe CD's want to hear Monroe and not other artists who otherwise would remain undistinguished.
My other gripe about this CD as well as others, is the tendency to repeat songs that appear on all of the other issues - "Racing", "There I Go", "My Devotion" "Someday" etc. Besides not having two CDs with the same name, why not also issue future CDs which include tunes that are not on any of the current plethora. I would be happy to supply the titles. As of now, serious collectors find themselves buying CDs that might contain 18 songs but 12 of them are already in the collection. If you have no other CDs of Monroe this is a good buy because it does contain most of his major successes.

Some magical ingredients.......2007-04-04
Queen on this album pay homage to a number of masters. Firstly this album was basically a soundtrack album - most particularly to the cult classic film Highlander. As such there are certain emotions you'd expect would need to be addressed, and Queen, with their multi-faceted talents, are well suited to the task of writing an album that deals with a range of human feelings. Taken as an album in it's own right though this has some positives and negatives.
It scores one star for the wonderful, stupendous, gut-wrenching, glorious (I'm flicking through my thesaurus here), brillian, poignant and touching Forever. A song so great on it's own but forever intertwined in peoples minds with the fate of Freddie Mercury and the sequence of the Highlander film it was featured in.
The album scores another star for the pristine production, very clinical and clean. Another star is given due to the ability of the band to pen whimsical nonsense such as Pain is so Close to Pleasure alongside mega cheesy racket like Princes of the Universe (proto power metal perhaps?) and 80's electro pop in the form of A Kind of Magic.
A fourth star is granted for the fine performances as here the band show that whatever genre they were addressing they could play it. And Freddie is truly in fine voice, all tenderness and melodrama like the circus master he was.
This version has three extra tracks, remixes and alternate versions of already included tunes. So the effort put a little extra in as well as the bravery of deciding to be highly associated with a film over which they had no control earns the group another star.
But hang on - I've only given this thing three stars!?! Well the reason for that is the album loses a star because the nonsensical, whimsical style of much of the pop tunes hasn't aged well. Another star is lost due to a combination of the fact that the extra tracks only serve to make the album overlong and add nothing to the release and the fact that one gets the feel that this is perhaps mostly along the lines of Freddies ideas and perhaps less of a work by the band. After all for such multi-instrumentalists to hang up their gear in favour of synths and sequencers must of come as a move made with some regret.
For the listener willing to delve there are some real gems here but this is not essential. Queen devotees will lap this up, but then they lap up anything put out under the Queen banner, approaching Deep Purples fans levels of lack of perspective.

A Different magic.......2007-03-06
This album was released in the summer of '86 when Queen's radio airplay was at a rather low point in the U.S. and at a very high point in Europe.By now,the band had adventured into pop genres beyond rock, yet colouring their songs with their distinctive style of interpretation and playing. Here we find the gorgeous ballad ONE YEAR OF LOVE and the catchy FRIENDS WILL BE FRIENDS.The ominous anthem WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER and the Highlander themed PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE are gems in this crown. The first two USA singles, the rocker ONE VISION (from Iron Eagle)and the danceable A KIND OF MAGIC barely cracked the US Top 40 in a decade when alternative music was preferred and classics were often overlooked
Awesome .......2007-02-12
Every song rocks. One of the best Queen albums I have ever heard.
queen continues to pop you!.......2006-11-28
Another pop sounding record for queen. The record starts off with a good rocker in "one vision" then goes pop on you. That's not a bad thing. The title track "magic," one year of love and the silly but catchy pop/diva song "pain and pleasure" tells you that queen wern't worried about hitting it big again in america. The best part of the album are brian may's "who wants to live forever?" and the hard hitting freddie song "princess of the universe" It might be more on the pop side of things, a little more than the majority of queen fans would like, but it's a good fun record. P.S....Don't expect A night at the opera!

they did it again.......2006-06-25
well you have probably read the review by my learned friend, he thought it was going to be about slot car racing?! does this music even exsist?!
anyway, he should have realised what he was buying when buying a record by THE PHANTOM SURFERS!!! as with 18 deadly ones, this album is full of great surf riffs and the sound is so rubbish it only adds to the surfness of the whole thing
anyone who likes surf music should check out these guys
The Exciting Sounds of Model Road Racing.......2003-12-26
The cover art is cool. There are a couple small blurps with slot car noise but these are not in the music. The music is related in NO way to slot cars. This album is deceptively advertised. There are NO songs with slot car lyrics and it is not a recording of a slot car race. The music included is sort of Beach Boys / beatnick sound with no lyrics. Don't waste your money on this garbage.

the best of their bunch..............2005-08-06
i don't understand why this is only given a 3 star rating; i'd give it a strong 4 stars! this album is a lot more edgy than it predecessor, "the big prize", and on the whole, better song for song. it is more reminiscent of their first release, but more polished. i have owned this album since it's release and i still enjoy it. though it didn't contain a mega-hit, it is full of catchy, driving, pop-rock tunes. "looking out for #1" and "love changes everything" are two of the finest songs in their catlogue, and are a strong indicator of the flavour of the album. definitely a good pickup for any rock/hard rock fan!!
what happened?.......2004-04-25
I hate it when good groups run out of gas and just start putting out music with no emotion. This cd is such an example. There's not much substance to this cd, at least compared to their early cds. The songs are lacking any power in a big way. It's not that it's that bad of a cd; it's just lackluster and sometimes too sterotypically eighties with the cheesy, overdone keyboards. I would suggest The Big Prize instead of this one, which is, in my opinion, the best cd from this extremely underrated band.
how suite it is.......2000-05-16
I was born in Niagara Falls. I'am in love with Johnnie Dee... he has my heart on a string. What does it take Johnnie? I might live in Kamloops but my hearts' in Niagara Falls.
Good, but not the best..........1999-07-08
"Racing After Midnight" has got to be my least favorite in HMS's discography. It doesn't have as many catchy tunes as "The Big Prize" (1986), "Monsters Under The Bed" (1991), or their self-titled debut album (1984). This was HMS's last album before they started to change players from the original lineup, and it seems to reflect that in most of this CD's songs. Recommended only for inveterate fans (realistically, I rate this work as 3 1/2 stars).
