Lords of Chaos.......2006-07-07
when Mayhem lost Dead it definetly was a huge blow to the band as was losing Euronymous, this is an awesome cd even with the questionable sound quality, and although the band is just mass chaos that's really what black metal was. they have all the good elements of true black metal and they don't randomly break into song on the chorus. there are no riffs, or solos, or even a chorus but without them the songs definetly flow better giving it a more abrasive sound.so if you like old school metal and total chaos this is definetly for you.
Death, darkness..........2005-02-23
Whoever tells you (the reader) not to buy this, don't listen to them! Sure, the production is bad, but Morbid made this back in 1987, WAY before Norge Black Metal was popular! Just wanting to listen to Dead made me buy this now classic demo. Great sounding Black metal, buy this if you want to hear Dead and his crews together or die like DEAD!
A snapshot of Dead and Euronymous.......2005-01-18
A great buy, if you can find it. I got mine for $14.97. If you can find it, you should buy it, as it has the only studio tracks Dead ever recorded (Carnage, Freezing Moon), a Live in Leipzig track (Funeral fog), a song with Maniac (Necrolust) and, also, 4 songs by Morbid, Dead's old band before he joined Mayhem. Though not even close to being as good as Mayhem, Morbid isn't bad, and is worth listening to, even if it is instantly overshadowed by Mayhem. Worth the time to find, and is worth it just to hear Dead in the studio. It's such a shame that we only got to hear him do those two songs in the studio (I would love to hear him on Buried By Time And Dust in the studio), but, Dead's dead and there is nothing we can do about it, so get used to hearing Maniac just like I did. (Actually, I think Attila recently replaced Maniac for the vokills spot, I think in november 2004.) Either way, this is a nice and well fitting look at Dead and Euronymous. Not only that, but the production isn't half-bad either.
The Lords of Chaos.......2004-02-10
This album is a tribute to both Dead (vocals) and Euronymous (guitars) of the kings of the Black Metal scene, Mayhem. Mayhem are probably one of the best (if not THE best) Black Metal band, EVER!! This recording (with typical bad production ["its total necro!"] ha ha...) includes the only two studio tracks that Dead ever did with Mayhem, "Freezing Moon" and "Carnage". "Funeral Fog" is taken directly from Live in Leipzig (a Black Metal classic!), while "Necrolust", I believe, has Maniac on vocals. The other band on this split, Morbid, is Dead's band before he joined Mayhem. While nowhere near as good as Mayhem, Morbid still offer up some pretty decent material. All in all, I'd say this was a pretty good release. Fans of Darkthrone, Burzum and earlier Mayhem take notice! A good addition to any fan's collection.
good stuff.......2000-10-31
I waited so long to buy this because I heard so many bad reviews about it. Don't believe them. The quality is not half as bad as people say. I finally broke down and bought it. I was expecting crap but was quite surprised. Does it have the prodution of say dimmu- no, but it is decent. It is really good. Production is much worse on so much more out there - darkthrone, ulver, immortal etc. If you can stand those -you'll have nom problem w/ this. The morbid stuff is great - very necro sounding much like early mayhem. I stay away from boots mostly - but this one is good - plus it is the only studio mayhem stuf w/ dead.
worth the $$
