Three great albums, one great price.......2007-05-24

This set contains all the material from Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, and Virgin Killer! I had been waiting for remastered versions of these albums to be released in the US, as they did with Lonesome Crow, Taken By Force, and Tokyo Tapes. Since that hasn't happened, this is your best alternative.

The standard warning on 70's era Scorpions music applies here. This isn't the Scorpion's everyone knows and loves from the 1980's. Their sound was very different during the 1970's due to Ulrich Roth's influence. His songs are more jazzy/psychedelic and his singing is very different than Klaus Meine's, or anyone else you've ever heard. Someone exploring 1970's era Scorpions for the first time may want to start with Taken By Force or the excellent live album Tokyo Tapes as the price is much lower and both albums are a good representation of the band's sound during this time. For everyone else familiar with the Scorpions of the 1970's, buy this set! You won't be disappointed. Where else can you get three great import albums for under $40?

these are truly the best scorpions albums ever... In Trance and Virgin Killer. Very well digitally mastered and complete with liner notes and photos but the best is... The 7 bonus tracks are actually all 7 tracks from the second album Fly to the Rainbow. Digitally mastered. So you actually get 3 albums at a very good price. Since these were the only 3 albums left unmastered now you can have all the catalogue remastered and sounding good...

The low rating does not refer to the quality of the songs in this album, which is, of course, a total Scorpions classic. The low rating is to thsi edition especifically. It is not remastered, the sound is crap, one of the worst transfers from LP to CD that I have witnessed. Just be warned.

Virgin Killer is the ultimate Roth-era Scorpions record for me.The others are good,but this one just rocks more and has more variety,not to mention Uli is balls out on almost every track.Catch Your Train stands up to the legendary performance of Sails Of Charon quite well,in my opinion.I actually prefer it,as it just seems even heavier,and Uli is shredding all over the place.The whacked out chord in Crying Days will stick in your mind forever.There are so many great guitar moments on this disc,I could go on and on...the solo on Backstage Queen....the entire Hendrix-tinged Polar Nights.....just magic.

If you only get one Uli Roth cd,let this be the one.

A very good album.......2007-02-23

This is a really good album if you like old scorpions (Uli Roth era). I don't think it's quite as good as the other uli-roth albums (Taken by Force, Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance) but still good. (It has some excellent individual songs, but as an entire album it just doesn't have quite the same energy. Just my opinion.) Worth adding to the collection, though, if you're a fan.

Virgen Killer was a pretty good album for the year that came out and during that era the sound was raw and original this album has been part of my collection for many years,I do wanna point out that there's a missinformation from the EDITORIAL REVIEWS Michael Schenker had nothing to do with this album,the album you're refering to is LOVEDRIVE 1979 He played lead guitar on 3 songs after quiting UFO and went on to form his own band THE MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP (MSG)!

One Of The Scorpions Best.......2007-03-18

This is one awesome album - especially when you consider how old it is . Still sounds fresh as a daisy and Klaus's voice is stunning . Although the artwork is very dodgey and considered offensive , I would recommend this version because this is the original artwork - the way it was meant to be , and also this baby goes for a fortune on ebay . Although the artwork is quite offensive - have you actually seen the alternative sleeve ??? A bunch of ugly rockers dancing and pulling faces - now that is one to scare the kids with !! Great album - highly recommended .

Virgin Killer (1976.) Scorpions' fourth album.

In 1976, the Scorpions released their fourth full-length studio album, Virgin Killer. This was the band's third (as well as their second to last) studio album to feature the severely underrated guitarist Ulrich Jon Roth, and the album even won the award of LP Of The Year in the band's native Germany! Is this album worthy of that title, or is it "just another Scorpions album?" Read on and find out.

Well, one thing's for sure. This album more than deserves the title of "LP Of The Year." This is one of the greatest Scorpions albums of all, if not the overall best. Ulrich Jon Roth's guitar playing on Fly To The Rainbow and In Trance were great, but on this album he completely blows away everything he has done in the past. In addition, the guitar virtuoso who helped to get the band started, Michael Schenker, takes a break from UFO and helps the band out on a few of the tracks featured here. The band kicks the album off with Pictured Life, a classic hard and heavy power rocker. It's hard for me to choose a favorite Scorpions song since so many of them are so great, but if I had to choose a favorite, this just might be the one. Following this track you will learn instantly that this is the band's fastest and most furious album of all. Two-thirds of the album is made up of hard and heavy rockers that are unbeatable in the quality department. Among these are Catch Your Train, Backstage Queen, and the title track. There are even three power ballads on here, all of which are excellent and well ahead of their time - In Your Park, Crying Days, and Yellow Raven. Two of the album's faster and heavier tracks, Hell Cat and Polar Nights, feature vocals that are wildly different from any other tracks on this or any Scorpions album - another member of the band must be doing the vocals one these tracks. All in all, these are some of the band's best tracks ever recorded.

There are two different versions of this album, but they only differ in the cover art. Version one is the original version of the album, which features the controversial cover art of a naked young girl. Contrary to popular belief, this cover is NOT that explicit. But still, it caused the band problems, and they were forced to change the cover accordingly. Version two is the changed cover, which is just a photo of the band members standing together. And this wouldn't be the last time the band would be criticized for one of their album covers - a similar controversy would arise for the Lovedrive album cover. It doesn't really matter which version you buy - after all, it's the MUSIC that counts!

Virgin Killer is one of the best Scorpions albums of all, and is quite possibly their overall finest effort. As I stated previously, if you only buy one of the albums from the band's days with Ulrich Jon Roth on lead guitar, make it this one. If you're a fan of classic hard power rock, this album WILL NOT fail to please you.

Heavy beat all the way through and I've listened to it several times since I bought it here at Amazon,com. All of the tracks are great, but I prefer Catch Your Train, Backstage Queen, Hell-Cat and Virgin Killer the most. The album has several 70's style additions but I had a tendency to forget what decade was singing to me more than once. The explicit cover is both allegorical and honest with today's standards (whatever they are). The most questionable portion of the girl's anatomy is concealed but would scandalize someone of sensitive tastes (and if you're listening to the Scorps you're above this). I imagine the young model has long since become a voluptuous honey by now. Buy this for the songs, dudes.

The best music ever created was by the the Scorpions during the 70's, their sound was absoloutly out of this world, fantasticly brilliant shread metal at its finest.... these guys started it all....... from slow trippy Psycedelic tunes to hard fast driving metal attacks....... Phenominal '70's Proto-Metal! And what a bargain!.......2004-06-15

There are two versions of the In Trance / Virgin Killers combo release. This listing is the "Axekiller" label release in a foldout digipack with two discs. Each disc has bonus tracks, which are actually all from The Scorpions second release "Fly to the Rainbow." So you get "In Trance" and about half of "Fly to the Rainbow" on one disc and then "Virgin Killer" and the other half of "Fly to the Rainbow" on another. This is a killer deal and if you're interested in Uli Roth era Scorpions, this music just smokes nearly everything that follows, probably including the excellent "The Tokyo Tapes." Just buy it!

Musically, it's essential guitar rock with Uli's incredible lead work and Rudolph Schenker's perfect riffing. Lyrically, it's only average, but Klaus's voice is excellent and oh so earnest. I like their commercial music from the '80's pretty well too. But there's a certain magic about the Uli Roth era that can't be denied.

The other version, on the "Phantom" label is also sold on Amazon. I actually ordered under than link from a third party seller and got the Axekiller version. They may or may not be the same. I can't say. But I'm certainly not complaining. I got three of The Scorpions best releases for under the price of two! These albums are hard to buy at reasonable prices so here's your chance!

Amazing! Three albums! Lyrics! Leather jacket!! Roth!!.......2003-09-03

This kind of "box set" is amazing. It features three of the best Scorpions albums in just one package.

After VIRGIN KILLER, Scorpions released only one more album with master Uli Roth, TAKEN BY FORCE. That was when the not-so-skilled drummer Herman Rarebell came into the fold. Roth, uninstered in earning more and more money, left the band. The SCORPIONS then recruited Matthias Jabs, and probabley they held a meeting, when they said: "Ok lads, now it's time to make REAL money". And their original sound was gone forever. Of course, being such talented musicians, they produced first-class pop metal (for people who like it, of course)and finally achieved mega success in the United States.

That's why this package has even more valour. It marks the end of the "first" Scorpions, the Scorpions that mattered, the Scorpions that played hard, played with heart, played into new boundaries of heavy music.

I can't say any more than what's already been said.
Superb remastering. Uli Jon Roth's guitar, Klaus Meine's vocals, and Rudolf Schenker's song writing make this two-disk CD set a treasure to own. (or should I say three?) Great liner notes, pictures, and leather-style case make this set a keeper. It's too bad "Axe Killer" is done remastering music like this. This 2-disk set is out of print unless you can find it new on Ebay like I did. If you want to hear the best of classic metal music I would suggest you get this set. The Scorps' have always been my favorite band!

i just got into the scorpions and all i have to say is that this album is all about uli jon roth he is right up there with hendrix just listen to sun in my hand or drifting sun and prepare to be blown away his style is totally original his tone the Hendrixisms mixed with that Euro-classic style he is my biggest influence
