Customer Reviews:
Great Band.......2007-04-14
Here is a band that had alot of hits. This is a good collection of their songs. My favorite tunes from this band are You Really Got Me and All Day and All of the Night.Another huge hit from this band was Lola.
The Davies brothers, along with drummer Mick Avory and bassist Peter Quaife, produced a number of hits.
Here is a great collection of songs from this band.
Quintessential Kinks.......2007-01-30
Great collection that covers a wide spectrum of Kinks material. Sound quality is great. A must for those looking to add The Kinks to their collection.
They Really Got Me!.......2007-01-23
Okay, I remember the British Invasion. This is one of those cd's you can either listen to in context of the times or as a great primer for the rest of their stuff. I've found myself listening to it repeatedly and I can still pretty much tell you where I was when the Ray and Dave were kicking out the hits. Like one of the reviewers said, there may be a track or two that I personally would have included but blast it all, this is a primo collection and as long as I can listen to "Waterloo Sunset", I am in paradise! Don't hesitate to pick this collection up! It doesn't get much better than this!
KInks The ultimate collection.......2007-01-12
there can really never be an ultimate collection for the kinks.
Because it would have to include everything they ever did.
But, in the mean time Enjoy this collection they put togethere.
Possibly the best collection of any band.......2006-12-16
While hard core fans might find a favorite track or two missing, I, as a casual fan, can't think of a single worthy song that does not appear on this double disc set. There are even a couple great songs that I had never heard before. The Ultimate Collection covers the entire career of the band, with a couple solo numbers by Dave Davies thrown in for good measure.
Whoever put this set together deserves congratulations.

While many of their peers were abandoning '70s metal and arena rock to hop the punk/new wave bandwagon, Def Leppard smartly stripped the earlier era's music of its excesses, bolstered it with energetic, pop-savvy hooks and quickly found itself the vanguard of the UK's new metal revival and one of the '80s most spectacularly successful rock acts. The first disc of this 35-track, two-and-a-half hour double-disc retrospective focuses on the familiar hits of their early MTV, platinum-selling prime, though the inclusion of the video edit/remixes of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and "Rocket" attempts to cast them in a more club-friendly contemporary groove. But the grittier second disc showcases some of the early, overlooked roots of On Through the Night and High 'N' Dry, as well as underappreciated later gems like '99's "Promises" and a power-pop-perfect take on Badfinger's "No Matter What" from an upcoming covers project. --Jerry McCulley

what do you want? i want rock n' roll!.......2007-07-25
what do you want?/i want rock n'roll!/you betcha!/long live rock n' roll!/def leppard sing in the classic rock of ages. that song gives this collection its title. 35 classic songs on 2 cds. isn't that awsome or what? ok i'll give you the song list. the songs include pour some sugar on me,foolin',photograph, high and dry(saturday night),women, love bites, rocket,no matter what, two steps behind, let's get eocked, and have you ever needed someone so bad. that' quite a list isn't it? listen to this album ,you will hear these songs and many more great songs. trust me you will like this album as much as i do. ed wilson
Should have been five stars, but wasn't..........2007-07-07
The concept was correct: Use of a full two CD's to represent all the great songs the band has produced. However, the selection was incorrect. There is too much emphasis on obscure tracks like "Paper Sun"? and "Waterloo...". But perhaps the most glaring faux pas, is that the albums "High and Dry" and "Pyromania" are under represented. Where is "Action...Not Words" and "Stagefright" or "You've got me Runnin'" and "Lady Strange". Also, "Die Hard the Hunter" is likely the ONLY weak song from "Pyro" and they choose it? Nonsense... Once they release Pyro and High n' Dry in a remaster, those are the two to get after Hysteria.
Absolute must have for Def Leppard fans.......2007-06-19
This 2-disc collection rules. It's got all the hits and more. The songs are put in a good order on both discs. Great summary of Def Leppard's music. The fan gets well over 2 hours of Def Leppard for his/her money. Great value! Get it.
Is There Such A Thing As Too Much Def Leppard?.......2007-03-25
This is far better retrospective than the old one disc set, The Valut. That being said, I think the casual listener may find this collection to be too much Def Leppard. The first disc is fairly solid disc filled with radio hits and popular album favorites, with only maybe one or two questionable tracks. The second disc is highly indulgent with newer material that only a hardcore fan who continued to follow the band through less popular albums like Slang, X, etc. will know. If you haven't bought a Leppard album in the past decade, you won't know a lot of this disc. Overall, a very thorough set, but the passive fan may opt for the one disc import only version, Best of Def Leppard. Its not complete, but its got more than The Vault without the filler of ROCK OF AGES.
Brilliant!.......2007-03-10
I was NOT disappointed with my purchase here. There's a great selection of songs on here, showcasing the band's changing image over time. If there are particular songs that you like that aren't in this collection, I'd suggest you download them, or get them elsewhere, but definitely get this CD for the absolute best of Def Leppard. It contains great liner notes on each song, with input from each of the band members, something I particularly enjoyed. Getting these liner notes helped me understand a lot more about where the band was coming from on each song and what it truly meant to them to be writing and recording it. With this input on their take on lyrics and such, I daresay I understood the songs themselves better. It also includes pictures of the band over time, including Steve Clark (R.I.P.). Overall: Perfect for fans and those simply looking to get the best of this phenomenal band.

Fans of Sammys career.......2007-07-23
If you are a fan of the "Red Rocker" than you should enjoy this collection of his music spanning his career from Montrose all the way to the Waboritas. I thought it was good sampling of his work thus far.
Sammy, Sammy, Sammy!!.......2007-07-21
Sigh...Just goes to show that a woman over 50 can still fall in love with a man going on 60 if he keeps on rockin' the way he was when he was 20. The best of the best.
Excellent single disc compilation of the Red Rocker........2007-07-11
This excellent single disc anthology for Sammy Hagar starts off with his biggest hit from 1973 with Montrose "Bad Motor Scooter" and then proceeds to go through 19 tracks from his proper solo career.
There are 20 tracks on here and the CD times out at 78:59. It covers his solo years from 1974 to 1984, his 1987 solo album while he was a fairly new member of Van Halen and 3 songs off of his 1997 and 1999 solo albums. The songs have been remastered in crystal clear clarity and really makes me wish that they would remaster Sammy's entire solo catalog from the 70's and 80's in similar fashion.
I'm not getting into if one song should have put on here instead of another as there is only so much you can cram onto an 80 minute CD. While I do think that they would have better served his fans by doing a 2 disc anthology, for a single disc anthology this does exactly what it should do is give someone a great overview of an artist's career in chronological order.
Most of the hits are here but the coolest thing about this is the you get the 3 soundtrack songs from the films Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Footloose, Over the Top in addition to 2 unreleased 1974 tracks as well. They also included the song "High Hopes" which was a track newly recorded for the prior 1994 compilation attempt "Unboxed".
Until they remaster his back catalog at some point, this is a most excellent choice for someone wanting to re-discover Sammy's excellent solo output and get a great chronological overview of his work.
Like I mentioned this would've been even better as double disc retrospective with a lot of his album cuts off of his solo albums on it (and some people say that there should be some Van Halen stuff on here but I disagree), but for what this is you can't do any better.
AHHHHHHH Sammy!!!!!!.......2007-06-07
For all you "RED" heads out there Amazon delivers.
You know the music is GREAT.
Amazon is a service that provides quick delivery and excellent discounts on their music.
I will use Amazon again and suggest that you do to.
Good Collection of Songs..........2007-03-14
I've got his other greatest hits & was happy to see that this one wasn't going to be 80% or more of the last one with recent hits. Only 2 songs from his previous (I've Done Everything & Bad Motor Scooter). Of course, with that being said, I wish Cruisin' & Boozin' was one of the 2 (maybe a live version?). Most guys don't have this many hits in their entire career. He's got 2 full albums, plus his VH stuff... & more records to come.

*New digital recordings in spectacular and sound performed by the acclaimed City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and National Youth Jazz Band.
*Includes world premiere recordings from "The Birdman Of Alcatraz," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Airplane!" and "An American Werewolf In London."
*In 2004 the world of cinema lost one of the most iconic figures in film composing. This collection has been lovingly created and compiled as a tribute to a genius and true master of the art of film scoring.
Customer Reviews:
Sad, Really Sad.......2007-05-13
These CDs don't meet the standards that I expect from Elmer Bernstein's wonderful film music.
*It's just Boring*
The ensemble doesn't have the energy one would expect to play "The Magnificent Seven" and "The Man with the Golden Arm". I think the City of Prague and National Youth Jazz Orchestras were bargain orchestras used to make an inexpensive CD set of one of my favorite film composers. The conducting and arrangements were what made this an obviously bad album.
An excellent movie themes antology by ELMER BERNSTEIN.......2007-05-10
Silva Screen Records, presents this antology of the music from the late great composer/conductor ELMER BERNSTEIN, who supervised this recording just before die.
Played the The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, and conducted by his one time assistant James Fitzpatrick
Recorded in HDCD and Dolby Surround
Excellent.......2007-04-22
it's unfortunate that more tracks weren't able to be recorded as theree was a good 15-20 minutes of space remaining on both discs. Regardless, this is an excellent sampler, especially in conjunction with Varese's Bernstein sampler including rare stuff like the Black Cualdron.
With regards to this silva set, these recordings range back to 1994, with Sons of Katie Elder and True Grit being recorded for a John Wayne CD and Bridge At Remagen for a CD of classic War themes. The Great Escape was also recorded for that CD, but producer James Fitzpatrick opted to record a new arrangement (same with Magnificent Seven). In '97, The Buccaneer for included on a Swashbucklers disc, while Heavy Metal was on the popular 'Space and Beyond' compilation. In '98, the world premiere recording of Airplane first appeared on a DISASTERS film disc. So while it may technically be the world premiere RECORDING it certainly is not the world premiere CD RELEASE of that recording. Ghostbusters was included on Space 3: Beyond the Final Frontier, the second followup to the popular 'Space and Beyond'. Fast forward to 2002 and 4 recordings first appeared on WAY OUT WEST: ESSENTIAL WESTERN FILM MUSIC COLLECTION VOLUME TWO, those being The Comancheros, The Hallelujah Trail, The Scalphunters and The Shootist. Man With the Golden Arm and Walk on the Wild are from Silva's JAZZ IN FILM cd.
The remaining tracks were all newly recorded for this release. They are of course the strongest tracks, seeing as the City of Prague Philharmonic has improved over time. I do wonder though why they did not include the older arrangements of Great Escape and Mag. Seven as bonus tracks.
I also recommend the simultaneously released '40 years of Film Music: Jerry Goldsmith' for another great set honoring a late great film composer.
Great Film Music.......2007-03-09
This is a great recording of some of the best film music ever. From the
great westerns to the Theme from Airplane to music he did for television,
Bernstein was one of the greatest.
Fun, Powerfull music.......2007-02-17
It's great! It brings back memories of my dad. He loved John Wayne and the old cowboys of the Magnificent Seven. But it's nice just to listen and relax (it's not all cowboy music).

Album Description
One of the top bands of the '70s and '80s, Foreigner-powered by Mick Jones' primal guitar and Lou Gramm's indelible vocals-became arena rock superstars with over two decades of hits and more than 50 million in record sales. The group's signature songs are cornerstones of the classic rock canon, and their worldwide success, beginning with their 1977 self-titled debut album, now over 4X platinum, towers above most bands of their era. With six consecutive albums in Billboard's Top 10-four of them Top 5-Foreigner's driving, hard-edged but soulful sound is as urgent as ever, and their "Hot Blooded" legacy has never sounded better than on Rhino's new 2-CD Definitive Collection of their top hits and greatest tracks.
Customer Reviews:
NEVER SOUNDED BETTER!.......2007-05-09
I have never bought a Foreigner album-they were so ubiquitous on the radio waves- but I came across this
double set at a reasonable price and decided to bite. I'm glad I did. The sound on both cds is the best I have
heard on any cd I own, and it's like hearing the songs for the first time (no pun intended). I had thought about
getting a Foreigner cd for some time-mainly for the songs on side 2-but resisted until I saw that this collection
contained the long lost album cut "Starrider". A truly enjoyable guilty pleasure.
A Decent Collection that really gives you more stuff!.......2007-04-10
I really like what Rhino's been doing recently with their re-releases/adjustments of bands greatest hits packages. They just seem to be getting it right in most cases and for we fans who enjoy the essentials so to speak, these best of's are what we want and all we need. Black Sabbath's Sympton Of the Universe release was great and some of the ELP stuff been very good as well. So bring it on Rhino!
Rhino seems to be giving us the listener, a well rounded choice of what we'd like to hear. These very nicely remastered classics are better than ever. Sound quality is very good and they seem to be focusing on the older material or shall I say the good stuff and staying away from the fluff.
Yes it's yet another Hits package, but I really like this one as it gives you more of the older tunes that haven't been showing up on most of the Foreigner greatest hits compilations.
It's just a good listen all around!
Good Collection Of Hits.......2007-02-20
This double disk set contains some of their best hits plus some hits from Lou Gramm and Mick Jones' solo efforts. Of course there has been other greatest hits collections from this band. This one is just another one to choose from. If another collection has nine more hits, go for that one if you recognize them. Does this one have a superior sound quality because it is the most recent greatest hits remastered? probably. I recommend this one.
Disregard *$#&!!* Head's review!!!!.......2006-12-17
Why would someone review a band that they hate, to mislead others???? Ignore reviews from immature-stupid-for-life-fools like that! Enjoy this great band that has left its imprint upon great music!

Wonderful selection of music.......2007-06-07
Very pleased with selection of the songs provided. Item arrived in a timely manner and in excellent shape. Would use Amazon again.
Whitesnake rocks!.......2007-02-20
If you loved 80's rock then you will love this CD, it is one of the best!
Good for its price.......2006-11-20
4 stars because
1-Great Whitesnake songs,
2-Great Booklet,
3-Good pricing,
4-Buy it to support Whitesnake (so they will release new cds).
1 star missing because
1-Same old songs (no unreleased material)
PS: The first track (Don't Break My Heart Again) has a problem, there is a jump in the middle of the song. Maybe it's just my cd, maybe not.
A really good one!!.......2006-05-25
I am a product of the 80's Hairband generation. I remember seeing Whitesnake live in Atlanta at the OMNI (its gone now).
These guys were a powerful force then. The energy and attitude were raw and just pulled you in. I remember the first time I heard "Slide it in", I was hooked. I dug around and listened to everything i could find of theirs.
This CD is a good one because it does cover a vast catalog of music. Yes they were MTV favorites but they were really talented musicians and Coverdale knew what a frontman was suppose to do.
Buy this CD and you won't be disappointed...
surely not!.......2006-05-11
Come on guys, get real! The only true definitive collection is a remastering of the entire back-catalogue. Saints and Sinners had all the good songs on it, as did Come An Get It, the latter probably the single best Whitesnake album of their early period.
With such a long history and varied members, one disc, or even two, is only going to diminish the greater achievements of the full-length albums. This is one rock band that deserves more than just another compilation that will surely just end up in the cheap bins.

No way, no way..........2007-07-30
You simply cannot take a band with Lizzy's caliber and vast discography, throw in it 16 songs and call it "DEFINITIVE COLLECTION". Call it "Best Of", "Greatest Hits", whatever. But "Definitive" this is not, no way!
That's why I rate it two stars: not for the songs (which are great) but by the misleading concept of this merchandise.
I think is a good collection of Thin lizzy.......2007-06-02
Not complete, but the essential, this band was great! I think is not do a compilation of this great band.
Decent Collection Of Hits.......2007-05-11
I've heard of Thin Lizzy, mostly from their hit "Boys Are Back In Town" which came out in 1976, the year I was born. I also I heard of the band being an influence to bands that came out later on, for example Def Leppard, which made a cover of another song fron Thin Lizzy, "Don't Believe A Word", and would play "Jailbreak" in their set selections when they would play gigs in the late 70's. I saw on VH-1 Classic in Fall 2006 a series of live from BBC performances from bands like The Police, AC/DC and Thin Lizzy. I must say that I was impressed by the performance and the interaction from lead singer, the late Phil Lynott and fans in attendance. Besides the obvious hits like "Boys Are Back In Town", "Don't Believe A Word", "Jailbreak" , etc., some of my other favorite songs fron this collection are "I'm A Rocker", "Rosalie", "The Cowboy Song" and "Wild One". According to past reviewer's recommendations, check out "Dedication" for a more complete Greatest Hits Collection from Thin Lizzy
If you don't know.......2007-01-12
Irish Elvis (Phil Lynott) is unreal, this album is unreal, buy it now, don't wait, the sooner you order the sooner you will be rocking!
Yeah, I know this is good, but..........2006-09-14
But it is not GREAT!! And it could have (should have!) been great! Of course, you can't possibly ask for more bang for the buck (I mean, this CD is less than $10...), but...Thin Lizzy is an awesome, often overlooked band from the seventies driven by the great, late Phil Lynott, that essentially invented the dual guitar attack that was later adopted by countless hard rock/heavy metal acts (Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Skid Row, Def Leppard, etc), even though Thin Lizzy themselves remained firmly rooted in the terrain of hard rock.
Therefore, their impact and influence in heavy music has been deep. They probably never achieved the same level of success in the U.S as in other parts of the world (with the exception of the immortal track "The Boys are back in town"), Europe especially, and that explains why the compilations released stateside have been...let's say, flawed... At this point, there is not a proper career spanning compilation released in the U.S that makes justice to the band's full body of work (there is, however, an expensive european 2 CD counterpart that does the job...just so you know).
Anyway...if you are looking for an introduction to Thin Lizzy, this could be a good place to start (even though it completely bypasses the second half of the band's career): all the tracks are great, my personal favorites being "Waiting for an Alibi" and "Don't believe a word", both featuring awesome guitar work and Phil's undeniably catchy and endearing lyrics and vocals. But my personal recommendation is that you spend a little more and get the other stateside compilation, "Dedication", simply because it includes two additional tracks that are worth the extra cash...

Uriah Heep - '20th Century Masters-The Millennium Collection' (Mercury).......2006-11-10
Really believe this CD's title is meant to be like a corporate ca$h cow. Didn't fool me for a minute.Twelve tracks of Uriah Heep's early works. It's always great to hear these early '70's hard rock gems, like "Gypsy", the wailing "Lady In Black", "July Morning", "Sweet Lorraine" and their only two hits (at least here in the U.S.) "Easy Livin'" and "Stealin'". Simply LOVE hearing either of those tunes on an album rock station at 3am. Obviously aimed the towards the completists.

Fun Classic Hard Rock.......2005-08-16
Do like rock and roll that's supposed to be fun, make you feel good, and make you smile? If you do, you might want to try this Uriah Heep collection. You'd never know it if you only listen to contemporary classic rock radio in the USA, but Uriah Heep were a potent live act in the early 1970s and recorded several gold albums. What did they sound like? If you can imagine a garage band doing a Deep Purple impersonation, you have a pretty good idea. They're definitely worth a listen if you're looking for music that doesn't take itself seriously.
The standouts on this compilation include a trippy ballad about "The Wizard," the fast paced shuffle "Easy Living," the Woodstock-era "July Morning," and the bluesy "Stealin'" whose rock-and-roll-as-outlaw-cowboy predates both McCartney's "Band on the Run" and Bon Jovi's "Dead or Alive." This CD represents the cream of Uriah Heep's early career and serves as a jumping-off point for exploring their (admittedly uneven) albums. All feature powerful keyboard arrangements and tongue-in-cheek lyrics.
Music like this is a great antidote for the largely humorless exercise modern mainstream rock has become. Uriah Heep will never win awards for originality, but there were few bands who seemed to absolutely enjoy what they were doing more than they. To me, their fannish enthusiasm is contagious. I hope you agree.
Excellent Single Disc Compilation, But............2004-09-06
If you only have enough cash for a single disc "best of" from this great & under-rated 70's band, this Millennium Collection is the definitley the way to go. The 1976 "The Best Of Uriah Heep" is a good single disc album, but only features 9 tracks compared to the 12 offered here. Plus the sound on the Millennium release is much better. My personal advice, however, is to scrape up the extra cash and purchase the vastly superior 2 disc set, "Classic Heep: An Anthology". "An Anthology" contains a whopping 30 tracks and gives a much better musical representation of Uriah Heep. If you're on a tight musical budget though, opt for this album and save you cash for the "Uriah Heep Live - 1973" cd.
Uriah Heep is on the Top of the "Heep" in Rock 'N Roll.......2004-06-22
This CD will light your shorts on fire! You will be floored by the intensity of this CD! You will be singing to this CD and pretending that you are in the band! You will go psyco in a positive way from the genius that awaits you in this CD. What I am trying to say through all this nonsense and "crap" is that this CD is a must have for fans of Rock 'N Roll. Some of the best Rock 'N Roll songs that have ever have been writen have been writen and performed by Uriah Heep. Uriah Heep is so cool! They are one of the best bands ever! Check out this album! You will not be disapointed! I guarantee it!

Customer Reviews:
Three great albums, one great price.......2007-05-24
This set contains all the material from Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, and Virgin Killer! I had been waiting for remastered versions of these albums to be released in the US, as they did with Lonesome Crow, Taken By Force, and Tokyo Tapes. Since that hasn't happened, this is your best alternative.
The standard warning on 70's era Scorpions music applies here. This isn't the Scorpion's everyone knows and loves from the 1980's. Their sound was very different during the 1970's due to Ulrich Roth's influence. His songs are more jazzy/psychedelic and his singing is very different than Klaus Meine's, or anyone else you've ever heard. Someone exploring 1970's era Scorpions for the first time may want to start with Taken By Force or the excellent live album Tokyo Tapes as the price is much lower and both albums are a good representation of the band's sound during this time. For everyone else familiar with the Scorpions of the 1970's, buy this set! You won't be disappointed. Where else can you get three great import albums for under $40?
THE 2, I MEAN THE 3 BEST SCORPIONS ALBUMS EVER.......2007-05-16
these are truly the best scorpions albums ever... In Trance and Virgin Killer. Very well digitally mastered and complete with liner notes and photos but the best is... The 7 bonus tracks are actually all 7 tracks from the second album Fly to the Rainbow. Digitally mastered. So you actually get 3 albums at a very good price. Since these were the only 3 albums left unmastered now you can have all the catalogue remastered and sounding good...

An Honor To Review..........2007-04-30
this collection of fine tunes from,in my opinion, one of the most under-rated groups of the 80's.It is great from beginning to end. Some real good covers and originals.Standouts are: "Ballroom Blitz","Long Stick Goes Boom","Bad Boys-Rag Dolls","American Woman","Midnite Maniac","Headhunter","Eat The RicH", and "Screaming In The Night".Pretty much all the songs, but just wanted to narrow it down. Too bad it didn't have "Our Love",from "The Blitz".Oh well.Get it if you love the 80's rock or just good R N R!!!!!!!!!!
Cool covers.......2007-03-21
Krokus is a hard rock band with distinct vocals hard edge guitars. The track, "Screaming in the knight", is, in my opinion, one of the best slow rock songs of all time. They put their mark on a few classic covers.
A Sequel Review..........2007-01-30
Many moons ago, a review was written which recommended buying The Definitive Collection CD vs. Stayed Awake All Night - The Best of Krokus. Here and now, it is complete.
Krokus is an underrated hard rock/metal band from Switzerland. They have now recorded music in four different decades and continue to rock even as of the day this review is written.
This collection includes at least one track from the follow Krokus full-length CD's: Metal Rendez-vous, Hardware, One Vice at a Time, Headhunter, The Blitz, & Change of Address. In other words, it includes their music from what the public would consider "their best days" in the studios and on tour. This CD is of great sound quality. Audio technology has come a long way since the 80's and it is actually evident here.
They made some good songs better such as Ballroom Blitz & School's Out. Both of them were made heavier by Krokus, as it should be.
Their original songs are solid offerings, and as already mentioned, this collection is the most complete studio recording compliation to date for this group.
A few songs on here that I specifically recommend (besides the obvious ones like their covers and their biggest hits) are "She's Got Everything" "Night Wolf" & "Playin' The Outlaw."
This doesn't get 5 stars because I think they made a mistake in leaving out "Tokyo Nights" from Metal Rendez-vous and I would have included "Hot Shot City" from Change of Address. I also think that this would have been a good place to include a studio recording of "Lay Me Down" which was recorded (live) on their Alive and Screamin' CD.
But overall, this is actually the best from this band. It's a good way to get a feel for them if you are new to them, and it also allows you to have songs from their earlier recordings, which are generally tough to find on CD in the USA. Go pick up a copy.
Outstanding.......2007-01-30
I wish it had a couple of more songs on it that I missed off of one of thier other albums.
OLDIES but (REMASTERED) GOODIES.......2006-08-23
I own all the CD releases from the 80's of this Swiss Rock Band. It's hard to believe that they are recording over 3 decades and Marc "The Voice" Storace is the best singer of all times where I'm concerned. Recently I listened more so to their 2004 release "Rock The Block" and the live double CD "Fire & Gasoline", because I preferred the great sound recording of today rather the (sound)limitations of the 80's.
Which brings me to this CD. A lot of "remastered" CD's do not sound that much different from the originals. This one is incredible!!! The sound is up to date, crisp and clear. And the material proves to have hold up over all these years and appears to be "timeless". It opens with one of their bigger hits, "Ballroom Blitz" and sets the stage. "Long stick goes boom" is still the opener for the band's live concerts. "American Woman" is not just another "cover song", they made it their own and it sounds even more powerful in the remastered version. Another good cover is Alice Cooper's "School's Out". The studio version of their greatest hit "Screaming In The Night" gives me still the chills and the remastered version is unbelievable. "Headhunter" (their best selling CD so far), "Eat the Rich", "Heatstrokes" and "Stayed Awake All Night" all still are in the live repertoire of the band and these remastered versions sound so fresh, you wanna just sing along! "Bedside Radio" was not a great hit in the USA but in Europe it was BIG and is also represented on this CD. There are 15 strong songs on this remaster and there are 15 strong reasons to order this CD and make it part of your collection of all times. And while you're at it, check out their new CD "Hellraiser" and order both!
