midnight rules.......2005-11-04
some "metal" fans and crimson glory lovers rejected this album cause maybe it aint heavy enough...or whatever...i just wanna say
that this album is beyond anyones expectations..doors,led zeppelin, pink floyd fans will love it or any open minded metalhead...you cannot believe how beautifully surprised i am everytime i listen to it(ofcourse i ordered it)...its got a taste of ancient greek music, country, phsycadelic rock...and a touch of heavy metal....you cannot group this album to any category...this is just a masterpiece...it will take u to another dimension..(well done black lotus...greeks always make the defference;) )
midnight remains on the top where he was and i highly recommend this one

The songs "War" and "Incubus" is the closest this gets to be legitimate Metal/Hard Rock, but that still isn't saying much. The rest of the album is all over the place, experimenting with different musical horizons, and I'm sure that was Midnight's intention. However, whether such experiment works is up to public debate. After all, you shouldn't expect an ex-Crimson Glory singer to release something in the same vain as said band on his debut LP, right? Anyway, there are a couple of songs that seem like country ballads, other numbers are narrative, almost in spoken-word type with flutes or maracas on the background, and there's even a song called "Cat Song" which sounds like a late night tune most likely to be played in a country bar. Much emphasis is given to Midnight's expressive voice; however, it mostly sounds inharmonious with a few moments of dramatic anger here and there (like Al Pacino, as the bio describes). Credit is to be given to the artist for wanting to be an explorer, and I guess your opinion on this will depend on your tolerance for the above musical styles, but if you're expecting a mind blowing piece of work from a guy that sung on great records like Transcendence and Crimson Glory, you're in for a major disappointment.
Strange, Beautiful, More Strange, Some Crimson.......2005-08-11
Don't look for a CG album here. Though there is a nice CG like song in "War". A musical adventure that seems to be taking us through the somewhat twisted mind of Midnight. The voice is strong without much of the infamous falsetto. Creepy vocal delivery on songs like "little mary sunshine" and BarberTrails.
