Album Description

What is Young Love?

"Los Angeles good times tequila rock bands Austin day cruiser van smoke machines tour trafalgar Hollywood oakwoods why are dudes wearing makeup everyone knows everyone Brooklyn night clubs whiskey white suits bright lights Miami island cutting rugs London finishing the record"

"That's the last two or three years of my life, with a bit of childhood thrown in," says Dan Keyes, frontman and musical tour de force behind Young Love. Not only does that word collage work as a history of the group, but it also serves as a good primer on the band's sound, which can only be described as "now, but different."

5 out of 5 stars echo and the bunnymen meet assembly.......2007-07-25

Had never heard of these guys until i saw the open for erasure and was very surprised. Great energy and memorable songs to dance or tap your foot to. Plan to hopefully catch these guys again soon and will definately be buying their stuff as it becomes avail.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE it.......2007-06-01

This CD is almost a guilty pleasure. It's a total pop album and the lyrics at times are cheesy and yet I can't stop listening to it.

5 out of 5 stars young loveeeeee.......2007-05-18

Hi! I''m from spain, and I have met Young love because my brother like this tipe of music. the first song that i hear from Young love was Too young too fight it, i love this hit!! but discotech is better. well, bye and sorry, my english is too bad!! LorENa

4 out of 5 stars disliked it at first...and then LOVED it .......2007-03-29

"Discotech" and "Find a New Way", the more danceable songs, were my favorites. My second favorites were "Closer to You", "Close you eyes" and some other more acoustically clean songs. Mr. Keyes does his best work on the acoustic numbers. However, songs like "Take it or Leave it" and "Tell Me", had to grow on me (although, the song "Give Up" still feels like overkill). This album is great, considering that many genres ( r&b, alternative, dance/electronica, indie...) are covered on it--which is pretty impressive. If you want something that is a little bit of everything, Too Young to Fight It is your best bet.

5 out of 5 stars incredible!!!!!!!!!.......2007-03-17

you know i try to find a new band to add to my list once a year and the beginning of this year sucked but then about three weeks ago i was browsing new releases and i saw young love and i thought what is this. and then i sampled it and 30 minutes later i owned it. i completly love this band the whole vibe of the music is unlike anything ive heard in a while. they are by far the best ive heard this year. i love the song "too young to fight it" it has such an upbeat feel i just gotta dance to it and i must say the lyrics rock ! so if you dont by any other cd buy this one its completly worth the money.

    5 out of 5 stars RECOVER ROCKS.......2005-05-02

Recover is amazing, this album is my current favorite of theirs. its definately much different from their first full length album; this album sounds more like their EP. any one who likes the way they sound on the CD should check them out live, they are one of the best live groups i have ever seen. check them out, BUY THIS ALBUM and tell your friends...

5 out of 5 stars Great Contrast to the Previous.......2005-02-11

I personally think this is a great album. But to say it's not just because it's different from the old material is just plain ridiculous. I think it's hard for people to understand that when bands get together they write songs that WILL NOT sound the same. That's just stupid. Where's the challenge and fun in that?? Changes will happen while playing in a band, and to that I say viva la Recover! All these people who do not know how it is to be in a band needs to realize every band's sound will change over time. Rock on Reco! Very original!

3 out of 5 stars come on now..........2005-01-31

OK, this might be the saddest thing that has happened to me in a while. for starters, i love recover. i always will. but come on...if any of you know recover well, you know how good "this is not recover" sounded. (produced by Brian McTernan. amazingly at that) i heard their new cd was coming soon and i got VERY excited. a month before it came out my friend told me he had a copy of it. i said i wouldnt listen to it out of respect for the band...but i ended up listening anyways. i couldnt wait. i thought...gross, this must be a demo of the new stuff...this sounds BAD. but sure enough, i bought the cd the day it came out and...it sounds bad. i heard they were supposed to go to a great place in LA (NRG i think) but they spent all the recording money on drugs and recorded it in some guys house. i guess this is more a review of the sound quality...but hey you have to LISTEN to the cd right? this is hard to listen to. song writing has downgraded. dans voice has downgraded. but i still give it a 3 because i love them. GO BACK TO BRIAN!

    3 out of 5 stars ehhh, i've heard better.......2004-12-21

Well let's make this short and simple.
This album is okay as it's own seperate entity. However, when compared to Rodeo&Picasso or their little ep, it kind of sucks. This cd is so much different from what they used to be. If this were their only piece of work it would probably be fairly decent, but it's such a change from their older stuff it's kind of jarring. There's also some kind of weird 3 minute or so pre-gap between song 10 and 11, i don't know why, but it annoys the hell out of me.

    4 out of 5 stars Great Band!.......2004-10-18

this album is a very solid disc! recover is an awesome band! if you are having second doubts about buying this album, go to www. killrecover.com, or better yet, go to www.purevolume.com/recover

This workshop is so gentle and loving, it's a dear sweet friend along on a journey I felt only I could 'suffer' through or 'endure'.

Actively releasing a person with love is a resonatingly healthy and wonderful option I never knew before meeting with Kathyrn Alice's simple exercises.

This beautiful woman and her powerful, loving words fill me with light.

I strongly reccommend 'Releasing a Person' to assist you if you know you are in need...

5 out of 5 stars Our little Recover is all growed up now........2003-11-12

I just got a copy of Ceci... for my birthday. I've been a big Recover fan since I heard "Elimination" on Road Fools 9 a year or so ago and went out and bought myself a copy of Rodeo & Picasso. I realize I'm pretty late getting this one, but I'm way, way happy with it. It has all the things I grew to love about Recover, in tightly measured doses... with texture, harmony, and subtlety thrown in, gratis. I've never seen them live, missed my most recent chance--and will not let that happen again.

    4 out of 5 stars songwriting progression.......2003-03-29

I saw Recover live and they floored me.... this EP unfortunately lacks the punch or visceral intensity of their live show, and is more or less a total departure from Rodeo and Picasso. Still, these guys can write a good song, and all 5 of these will end up stuck in your head. "My Only Cure" and "Push Push" are upbeat, infectious rock with a touch of 'emo'. If you get a chance to see them, go.

    4 out of 5 stars Push Push.......2002-09-26

I have been listening to Recover since they were selling their 4-track demo CDs for $2 at the Student Union at Univ. of TX. They have been a great band for a long time, and this CD continues in that trend. By taking a little bit of edge off their sound, it allows the music to come through a lot better, but still give a nice, hard sound. I say that it is at least as good as the 'Rodeo and Picasso' LP; same great guitar riffs, vocals, bass beats, and great drums. This is good music, for good people; just like a restaurant, but like... you know, music.

By the way, for all you artistically and classically devoid people, "ceci n'est pas recover" (translated to 'this is not recover') is a joking reference to a painting by Rene Magritte, painted in 1928, called "ceci n'est pas une pipe" (translated to 'this is not a pipe'). The painting of a pipe was titled as such because the image was the picture of a pipe, not the real thing. Recover's selection of this as their title was a joke, not an emo-esque statement. Anyway, its a good EP.

5 out of 5 stars Wow, some people are really stupid........2002-09-15

Let's set a few things straight:
1)The title is FRENCH, not Spanish.
2)It's 'ok' for something not to be 'hardcore' or 'screamo'
3)It's also 'ok' to try something 'different'*GASP!*
4)Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but some people are morons and should never procreate *looks in the direction of the past 2 reviewers*
With that said, we can now continue with the actual review. I have not a bad thing to say about this cd. The songs are catchier than the plague. Each one of them is amazing in one way or another. Like previous Recover songs, most of them are laced with style changes, little solos, dissonant guitars, and amazing vocals. Contrary to other views on this page, the "screams" are more tasteful and meld better with the style of the songs. Additional vocals and a piano interlude or two by the one and only Rory Allen Phillips (of impossibles/slowreader/imbroco/the20goto10 and a thousand other bands-fame) do nothing but sweeten the deal on this 13 minute eargasm. Just because it's not the last recover cd doesn't mean it's bad. Maybe this cd was titled "This is Not Recover" for a reason.....think about it a little =) Rockin' goodness at its best.

2 out of 5 stars blueline is horrible.......2004-08-15

The songs by midtown and recover are pretty good but blueline medic is absolutely horrible. I'm not sure if blueline purposely sounds like somebody with strep throat but if so then i guess they are doing a good job. This album is probably not worth the money for only a few good songs.

2 out of 5 stars not worth buying.......2003-03-06

some good songs by midtown, and the other bands, but blueline relic has got to be one of the worst bands i've ever heard and ruin the cd. They sound like they wrote, practice, and then recorded there songs in a couple hrs in a garage. definitely not worth buying

4 out of 5 stars Midtown is worth it alone.......2003-02-07

Why MCA ever dropped Midtown is a reason I do not know, but it will come back to haunt them for sure. Midtown and three other bands have 3 songs each(the 12th track by Silent*Corporation is missing from listing on this page) on this CD but Midtown is worth it alone. Two of these Midtown songs were new to me. Because what you hate is on their last CD with MCA, and the others were never released as far as I know. The acoustic version of "Get it Together" is simply wonderful. As far as the other bands, they are good as well. If you like Taking Back Sunday, you'll probably like Recover. Anyway, that is it. Go get it if you love Midtown.

5 out of 5 stars Rodeo & Picasso is GRAND........2004-03-22

I saw Recover at 2 years ago and have been hooked since. They basically got me into that whole hardcore/emo type genre. This CD is awesome and im going to see them tonight at the Engine Room in Houston so im stoked. I reccommend this CD to anyone...its grand.

    4 out of 5 stars Intense.......2003-06-25

Recover are obviously, blatantly and plainly emo. Not a huge fan of emo myself, I first saw them playing a show, and the energy and band were incredible. I thought to myself, "I'll have to listen to them some more at home." I listened to some tracks from this album, and they floored me. The title tracks "Rodeo" and "Picasso" are intense, and just leave you breathless. Definitely stand out tracks. The rest are still awesome, especially "Pardon the Wait" and "Two Minutes Hate". If there were more bands like Recover, we'd have an intense, beautiful music industry.

    5 out of 5 stars Sick CD.......2003-06-09

i saw these guys live last month with Taking Back Sunday and could not have been more impressed, these guys kick...along with their CD it is strongly recomended.

    3 out of 5 stars a bit disappointing.......2002-08-27

Recover is inmistably an emo band with metal influences (all the grade and pmfs references are warrented). What makes recover different is an almost whiplash inducing alternation between the two styles with little attention given to transition. The guitars (one tuned higher than the other in true emo fashion) and the vocalists (one a shrilly scream and the other a over-rehearsed, sorta-emo-whine) mostly work to emphasize the principle of polar opposites set against each other.

In austin these guys had a huge buzz and their live performance was well worth seeing more than one time (members jumping off drumsets, jumping off each other, twirling guitars around their bodies by the strap), but I think their 4 track demo CD showed more potential than this. The two songs that made the cut to this CD(pardon the wait, the feel is gone) both share a sing-a-long, chanty quality that makes em great to see live; but the other two that didnt make it to this CD were replaced with some less than inspired song writing. The slower songs seem to lack sincerity or whatever it is that makes music moving, and for such slow tracks they have a stark lack of any kind of complexity or flourish; which makes them get old fast. C'mon guys, two guitars, two vocalist, a base and a guitar: do they really all have to follow the same lines? Between the songs they also have interesting found-sound interludes, i wish they would incorporate these into some of their songs. But besides that the faster tracks have enough variety and originality to stand their own. Keep an eye open for these guys' future releases.

recommed for download: Pardon the wait, solutions, the feel is gone, not a word, rodeo, elimination.

4 out of 5 stars Love these boys!.......2002-07-03

These boys are headed for greatness! This is a great first CD for them and we'll be hearing a lot more from them in the future.

      Customer Reviews:

      5 out of 5 stars great !!!.......2001-12-29

This single is great. "Recover Your Soul" is even better than "The Way You Look Tonight" to me. It is very moody song. "Big man in a little suit" is rock oriented song and it's very good. "I know why I'm in love" is really sweet love song. Great Cd-single. If You like easy listening pop, buy this then.

      1 out of 5 stars barely decent.......1998-10-25

"Recover your Soul" is dull. This single is not like "Something about the way you look tonight" by a longshot. The other two songs ( I know why I'm in love" and "Big man in a little Suit") are just as dull, with no meaning. If you want to waste 3.99--buy it. In other words, don't get it.
