Customer Reviews:
Very good release of a new version of a classic.......2007-08-02
Didn't want to get it when I first heard about it. Believed it would be just a soft remix that would not sound much different than the original. Listened to a few songs and gave it a try. Excellent remix. Songs brings back memories of when I listened to the original regularly years ago but a nice twist to each of the songs.
wow.......2007-05-14
i was blown away when i listen to this album for the first time. the melodies are just astounding. every song on this album stands out. now i know people say this album isn't as good as the original. i think this album is just as good if not better. while the original had the emotion, this one has that and the clearity. i'm not sure if that makes them less "black metal" because its clearer on the re-recording but i could care less. in my eyes theres only good music and bad music.
Outstanding Remake!! The BEST Dimmu Line-up EVER!!! Plus plenty of extras!!.......2007-04-15
As if Dimmu Borgir could not possibly get any better....They return from the Abyss (studio) with a TERRIFIC masterpiece of Re-make of their second album "Stormblast". With a truely ALL STAR LINE-UP featuring the absolutely AMAZING Hellhammer (MAYHEM,ARCTURUS) on drums!!!Old fans and new alike will appreciate this album from beginning to end. The album recording and engineering is absolutely CRYSTAl clear versus the original low buget sound on the original release. With the same lineup as the last 2 releases (with the exception of Hellhammer) You already know You are getting top of the line musicianship from the the start. As some of You new Fans may have noted by the song titles this album is NOT in English like the previous ones (with the exception of "FOR ALL TID" and the original "Stormblast") but don't let that bother You or sway You away from buying this release. Just like the original release Shagrath handles all the lead vocals with plenty of anger and is probably some of His BEST vocals to date!!!Fans of Vortex's clean vocals need not worry He can be heard doing backup harmonies mixed in with Mustis's TERRIFIC classical Keyboard sounds. Vortex does an oustanding job on playing Bass on this album and can be heard doing alot of technical work to match the almighty Hellhammer's drum work through the entire album. Silenoz returns again providing the Band with His Super Heavy guitar sound and incredibly technical guitar work. There are so many rhythm changes on this album You find it hard to believe the Band can play all this without getting lost and makes Me think back to Iron Maiden's classic days of Epic records and genius song writing (ie;"Piece Of Mind" and "Powerslave").Still not sold on this album yet? check out track #8 "Antikrist" for a perfect example of what I mean. But wait there's more!!!....Along with this awsome CD You also get a BONUS DVD that totaly rocks and proves these guys are oustanding musicians on stage as well as in the studio and You also get on the American release 2 Bonus tracks that perfectly matched and blend in with the albums theme and sound!!!Not to mention a limited addition patch for You Dimmu collectors and a promo poster!!Try and find a deal like this with most other bands. You simply can't go wrong with the NEW release of "STORMBLAST".If You like Your Black Metal Medieval,Cold,Dark, and Frosty then don't hesitate. This is truely a fantastic release by a VERY talented group of musician's while We wait for their next studio album (which will also feature this line-up on a permanent basis). If You enjoy this album I urge You to check out Dimmu's other releases as well (ie: "Spiritual Black Dimensions", "P.E.M.","DEATH CULT ARMAGEDDON",and "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant".From the Band that introduced America to the Icelandic word for Dark Castle (Dimmu Borgir) comes another truely perfect Metal album. HAIL DIMMU!!!!!!
dimmu is now cradle 2... but with helhammer, i wonder.......2006-11-19
Hellhammer is also recording with Dimmu for their next album. Apparently some things really meshed with this remake and hopefully Dimmu can come back to their once unquestionable glory. aside from that, i can't add anything that hasn't been said by those with the top reviews for this product/recording. The original Stormblast and For All Tid are masterpieces of black metal... and even i hate to admit it, but i like one of their albums since then (can't remember if it's Enthrone or Puritanical) but i'm not going to say it's black metal, per se. just like Cradle... Cradle's first album was great and it WAS black metal. but somehow, someway, they lost it and went... i still can't explain it or put my finger on it... but it's somewhere that black metal doesn't go, shouldn't go, and is not. ?8|
Everything DIMMU does should be interesting to a DIMMU fan.......2006-10-03
Yeah ok, so the black metal purists will get all pissy and moany about stuff like this. But, the real point is that a re-done album such as Stormblast MMV (which may or may not have needed to be re-done, but who cares, it was!) is still better than most of the garbage "metal" being created today. If you're a metal purist/perfectionist Superbeing and you don't like this, what are you going to do - listen to Britney Spears (yeah, I didn't accidently spell her name right) or Quorn or Blink 751629684 or some shameless nu-metal schlock? Purists need to re-calibrate their judgment basis and just learn to support/enjoy good metal, good music, good whatever. Long live DIMMU.

Customer Reviews:
M O N E V.......2006-02-09
When most people think of Black Metal, corpse-paint and church burning Norwegians come to mind these days, but Venom really originated something unique for that genre, laying down the foundation for many imitators and admirers alike.... yet Venom manages to remain in a class all its own. Truly, the fore-fathers of Black Metal, a term non-existent before their emergence, who at least entertainment-wise, have given The Devil His due.
I recently had the opportunity to pick this up the other day, as it virtually stood out at Me from the display - emblazoned with a Baphomet and reptilian logo, this band remans an evocation, calling to mind psychodramatic memories, splendid theatrics of a marvellous Dantean spectacle, and some of the heaviest musick to date.
While not actual Satanists, Venom has served to veritably "open the gate" for diabolical expression in the Metal arena, and the degree of their sinister stage show remains unmatched, even comparable to KISS presentations.
MMV contains two decades of infernal evilution. Rare remixes, out-takes, interviews, rare singles, and live performance recordings are herein. A collection of which a member of 'The Legions' would have had to have incrementally possessed from obscure as well as international sources. Much of which I have had in My own private collection in one form or another {mostly cassette studio and radio recordings, and vinyl}, now all pleasantly acquired on CD. I was also quite pleased to discover the "7 Dates of Hell" poster included {now framed}, along with a lavish 59-page booklet including an original introduction by Cronos, many informational tidbits, print interviews, numerous news clippings, flyers, album art work, and rare photographs.
Disc 1 contains outtakes, demos, bonus tracks, and singles from 'Welcome To Hell, 'Black Metal', and 'Possessed'. The entire 'At War With Satan' album comprises disc 2, some inclusions from 'From Hell to The Unknown', radio / TV spots, and a studio interview. Disc 3 contains a combination of bonus tracks, live material, and outtakes from 'Calm Before The Storm', 'Prime Evil', and 'Cast In Stone'. Along with this splendid compilation, Disc 4 contains recordings from the legendary Hammersmith Odeon concerts, thusfar only available on 'The 7 Dates of Hell' and 'Alive in '85' VHS tapes, and portions from the various 'Assault' series, now all available on one CD.
The CD's themselves feature impressive renderings of each character of this infernal trinity poised within the customized Baphomet, including a horned, demon-winged, fanged Cronos in hellish rictus.
Distinct from the core releases, MMV is essentially a complimentary musickal accumulation of all those singles, rare picture discs, outtakes, and live recordings which complete the "Venomist's" nefarious compendium.
Once Again, Venom Return.......2005-11-24
I can hardly believe it! Never in my lifetime would I guess to witness such a grand occasion! A Venom box set is something I only dreamed of.
The box set itself is put together the same way as Motorhead's "Stone Deaf Forever." It is packaged in a sturdy box with a plastic inlay and each cd is in an individual jewel case. Also included is a reprint of an old poster and a great 60 page book full of rare photos, news paper and magazine clippings, discography and a revealing history of one of the world's most infamous bands. This Box will not dissapoint.
I highly recommend this set even to the most seasoned Venom fans. For one thing, the book is worth the money, in my opinion, and second, the 4th disc which contains all of the Venom "Assault" series. The only one that didn't make it was the Japanese assault.
This set was compiled by Cronos himself and I think he did a pretty good job putting it together. True, none of the music from "Prime Evil, Temples of Ice and Wastelands" made the set, but there is history written about it. Besides, the Cronos, Mantas and Abbadon trio was the best and everyone knows that! What I mean to say is that this box set has everything that counts. Within it's contents you will hear the music that Venom is known for. This is the type of stuff your parents did not want you to listen to. Venom is one of the best examples of how mean and ugly metal can be. They were like a greasy engine fuelled on the most potent of riffs. They gave no mercy and expected none in return.
The only gripe I have about this set is that there was no DVD included. The "7 Dates of Hell" video would have been the icing on the cake.
All in all, I was not dissatisfied with Venom's collection. If your into real heavy metal, this is for you!
An Absolute Cronos-fest!.......2005-11-22
This box set is the best comp of Cronos-era material out there! About a year ago, I reviewed the 2-disc "From Heaven To The Unknown" saying that that one was the best, and at the time, it was. That one is still the best for the money(it's a budget quality release). The only drawback is that this box set includes only material from the original trio of Cronos, Abbadon, and Mantas. That means their first four albums, stand-alone singles, the "Cast In Stone" album, and, of course, live stuff and demos. There is no Tony Dolan material here("The Collection" is still the best comp for that era), and nothing from either "Calm Before The Storm" or "Resurrection". That being said, buy this, or F.O.A.D.(when you hear the set, you'll know what that means!)!!!!!!!!!!!

Product Description
Pax Romana MMV is BROTHER's 10th indie release. It was great to be back in the studio with Dalbo. Its the first time since Your Backyard in 98. Angus said. Dalbo describes it as a great pleasure to be back in the studio with Hamish, Angus, and his old friend, producer Guy Erez. How does the Aussie trio describe their new CD? Its got a Celtic, middle-eastern, mantra, droney, didg, groove, tribal, vocals, and guitars kind of vibe. We explore new territory here and at same time make a definite return to our roots. Three words. Fat, deep, sensual' Hamish. And for Dalbo? "Pax Romana is evocative and reflects the journey of life in all of its tensions and joys.
