You can buy this right now so do it..before it goes back to those DEATH METAL tomb's..amongst the million's of other forgotten DEATH METAL album's!! this was out of print for a few year's..which was a crime!! this is will always slay anything CANNIBAL CORPSE did..so it should be availble!! AND NOW IT IS!!

This come's in a DIGI PACK..I hate digi pack's..but it's not all that bad!!

THE REAL++here...the sound is even louder!!! YOU CAN HEAR EVEN MORE BASS!!!

So if you own the old version( I own both old version's the original press and the one with retro for the dead ep) I would suggest getting this version as well..you cant go wrong!! you get the lyric's and both album cover's as well!!

As you will read my other review which is for the album itself..it is the BEST DEATH METAL ALBUM EVER!! you have the chance to buy it..SO FUKKING DO IT!!!!!

Classic death metal album.......2005-07-10

Severed survival is debut album of this death metal gods and piggy man Chris Reifert.1989 was a good year for metal,and Autopsy rules that underground,stuffs like "Embalmed","Severed survival","Stillborn","Disembowel"...and others cult material is still festering. Sound is very raw,but of second album has typical dirty canal slowly noise and I like this underground crashing.It's very powerfull.
Simple death metal with hatred energy,that was a severed survival!!!

Simply the best. No others can really compare. Morbid Angel's "Altars of Madness" comes close, but fails in its later tracks. "Blessed are the Sick" is too scattered, its best riffs splintered among several songs. Death's "Scream Bloody Gore" may have been there first, but ultimately it fails to transcend Repulsion cliches. This is the great death metal ever recorded: sick, beautiful, tormented, unashamed of its own excellence. Every song is a keeper. Buy it!

Underrated, sludgy, gory old school DM (4.5 stars, 88%).......2006-12-05

Well kids here we have some pretty awesome old school death metal that's kind of derivative in a sense but still has a charm of its own since these guys were definitely the sludgiest/doomiest of the old school death metal bunch in the late 80s/early 90s and overall this is a pretty midpaced album, nothing too fast but still very heavy.

Musically this album is basically a mixture of Scream Bloody Gore and the Nihilist demos. It's pretty obvious in the riffing and vocals, in fact the description "Scream Bloody Gore part 2" is pretty appropriate as others have said. Reifert's high pitched vomiting vox are a combination of Chuck Schuldiner and LG Petrov, just listen to SBG and Nihilist/Left Hand Path and you'll see what I mean, they're pretty damn brutal too, especially for those days. There's a good amount of simple yet great solos and decent drumming, although I liked Reifert's performance on SBG better but it's ok I mean the man was singing too and I always give tons of respect to singer/drummers. That's why I love Ventor from Kreator so much. Attention bass fans, guess what you get Steve DiGiorgio on here too! Unfortunately he was only the session bassist and not a permanent member but he sounds great on this album although not quite as amazing as his other bands (Death and Sadus).

Another thing that's fun about this band is that they are indeed the most disgusting in terms of lyrics, holy s**t man. These guys must have inspired other gore bands like CC and the like, and these guys are even more heinous than them! I'd definitely agree with Strapping Young Lad on that one. I mean just look at the REAL album cover (not the one that's displayed now). Stillborn has some of the most disturbing lyrics I've ever seen and I friggin love it, I won't spoil the surprise though you'll have to buy this yourself! I'm not giving this the full 5 stars because a couple of the songs are a tad generic and a little boring especially on the first half, the second half has the best songs. Some of my faves are the title track, Embalmed, and Critical Madness.

So if old school simple DM is your thing (as you all know I LIVE for this) this is certainly mandatory. For more awesome and underrated old school DM get their other great album Mental Funeral, the first two Entombed albums (LHP is GODLY), some Dismember, Malevolent Creation, and Pestilence (Consuming Impulse is downright amazing). BEST ALBUM EVER MADE IN MY OPINION..MADE UGLIER BY THE ADDITION OF THE EP!!!

Many admit SURVIVAL is the king of the DEATH METAL pile!!!

I mean you did hear CHARRED REMAINS correct?? this song has this strange ENERGEY that is somehow never='d..I really dont even understand the HATE present on this album..but then again I do!!!

I made the mistake of checking this band out 3 weeks ago.
There is absolutely nothing intrigueing about this album not one solo to be found in any song, no new wave style hardcore vocals to be found, no chugachuga breakdowns, the band members don't have the cool hairdos and tight girl pants and worst of all this band isn't on MTV, TRL, Headbanger's Ball, VH1 and Uranium like the fantastic Trivium, From Autum to Ashes, Unearth, Bleeding Through, the always amazingly brutal Atreyu, and basically every OC cool "Hardcore" band because that's a cool trend not this garbage

What else is there to say? If you are a death metal fan and you don't own this, you haven't been to the summit of the genre. This is just essential. A beautiful work of art.
