Customer Reviews:
Great value for almost no money!!.......2007-01-30
These songs are all great, and unless you're a total TS fanatic, this will be sufficient for your collection. By the way, Burn in Hell is one of the stupidest songs ever, even for a hair metal band!!
Horrible.......2006-01-03
Twisted Sister were one of the biggest hair band is the late 80s. This compilation is supposed to be a Greatest Hits. It's not. Sure it has Were Not Gonna Take It, The Price, and I Wanna Rock. But where is Were Gonna Make It, Burn In Hell, or Hot Love. Get rid of Leader of the Pack, Tear It Loose, and Lookin Out For #1. This album is OK for casual fans of Twisted Sister, but for diehard fans or anyone who has ever heard Burn in Hell, it will make you cry.
Not In To The Style,Just The Sound.......2005-10-17
Twisted Sister, yes a band made fun of a good amount.Yes are a little odd looking, and yes make some decent catchy tunes.
Wipe their image clean outta your mind and just listen to the songs. This is a reduced Twisted Sisters greatist hits compilation. Many people usually consider any album from a bargain bin a poor mans cd.This believe it or not is a really good album for less then 7 dollers, you can't complain you got scammed.Since you really didn't.
This is by all means not a good introduction to this band, but for people scavenging for a few good songs then yes just buy this. The most notable songs are easily the most spoken of songs,or
"We'er Not Gonna Take It".
Obviously it's a greatist hits for a reason though so if you are new to this band expect some other good hits like,"I Wanna Rock".
"Stay Hungry" and "Tear It Loose" are pretty cool too.
If you are'nt really into hair bands and loads of make up that doesn't mean this isn't for you.You more then likley enjoy atleast two or three tracks. As said earlier this is less then 7 dollars wich is half the reason you lack some other big songs.Don't expect much, but do expect some.
A good compilation with obvious shortcomings.......2005-06-15
We're Not Gonna Take It And Other Hits (Covers 1982-1987, Released 1999.) A Twisted Sister hits compilation.
One of the most wrongly-ridiculed bands of the eighties was Twisted Sister. Due to the band's cross-dressing and long hair image, they were dubbed a glam metal band by many, despite the fact that this claim was far from the truth. While the band had the glam image, their music was much harder, heavier, and raw-edged than that of the actual glam bands - Dee Snider and the guys had a sound more similar to the likes of Motorhead than Poison. The band released five studio albums and assorted compilations over the years. Read on for my review of one of the band's budget compilations.
We'll start off by analyzing the good points of this compilation. First of all, it's affordable, and a fairly good value. At the price most stores charge, that's about a dollar a song - not a bad deal at all. You can't have a Twisted Sister hits compilations without the hits We're Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock, and sure enough, you get them both here. Likewise, you get lesser known hits like You Can't Stop Rock And Roll, Stay Hungry, and Leader Of The Pack. You also get plenty of underrated masterpieces from the classic metal legends, including I'll Never Grow Up Now and Come Out And Play. If you want a cheap, afforable package with all the big hits, this really is it. But it's not perfect - in fact this package is far from it, in many ways. HOW CAN YOU HAVE A TWISTED SISTER COMPILATION WITHOUT BURN IN HELL!? NOT cool. Likewise, where are What You Don't Know (Can Hurt You), Under The Blade, and Hot Love? These omissions are unforgivable, especially the latter, which was a pretty big MTV hit back in the day. And why aren't their eighty minutes of music? I can't give this set a perfect score by any means, but I certainly won't bash it either. This makes a pretty good introduction to the band. Normally I don't give four-star ratings to budget compilations, but the band's official one sets the bar pretty low. Still, Essentials is a better compilation.
This compilation isn't as readily available as the official Big Hits And Nasty Cuts compilation, which is unfortunate, since this really is the better compilation overall. Still, if you look in enough stores, you'll probably find this one. And since it costs less than Big Hits And Nasty Cuts does, why not just buy this one instead? It's a no brainer.
And there you have it. Is this a perfect compilation? Nope. Does it kill the band's official compilation dead. For the most part. I strongly suggest getting all five classic Twisted Sister albums, but if you can't afford them or you just want a compilation, get this or Essentials. Just don't buy the band's official compilation.
