Another melodic rock gem featuring Dennis Ward..........2007-07-25
I'm starting to think I just may have to buy anything that has Dennis Ward's name on it. This is simply another great album full of great melodic rock with Ward handling the majority of the songwriting as well as his usual fine production. The rest of the band is basically PC69 with vocalist Michael Kiske. Honestly, I was unsure if I would like his vocals, even after listening to the samples, since I've never been a fan of Helloween. Kiske, however has a very good - somewhat unique voice that fits perfectly with the material. The songs themselves are mainly mid-tempo melodic rock, with a couple of more uptempo rockers.
Song Highlights include: Cross The Line, I Will Be Waiting, Too Late, Place Vendome, Heaven's Door and Right Here.
Overall, this is a great melodic rock/AOR album that should please fans of PC69 or bands such as Journey. Also, check out Dennis Ward's personal website as it lists all of the projects he has been involved with.

With legendary Helloween vocalist Michael Kiske working with Pink Cream 69 mastermind Dennis Ward, what more could you want from a melodic rock album? I'll admit the thought crossed my mind that if I wanted to hear a Dennis Ward album with a Helloween vocalist I could just go back and spin those early PC69 discs that featured current Helloween singer Andi Deris, but I was still quite intrigued by Place Vendome. Dennis Ward has become the melodic rock genre's premier songwriter, and I'm at the point where I'll buy just about anything he's involved with.
Place Vendome is an extremely well-written melodic rock album. The album's opening and closing songs have a harder-edged PC69 sound, but the rest of the album is very much an old-school, Journey-inspired AOR album. Every song is a winner, and before too long you'll find yourself singing along to just about every track. Album opener Cross the Line starts things off with a bang, and is easily worth the price of the album all by itself.
Michael Kiske's vocal performance is impressive to say the least. I hadn't heard from him since Helloween's ill-fated Chameleon album, and wasn't sure what to expect from him in an AOR/melodic rock setting. There are a couple of tracks that recall the familiar Helloween voice, but for the most part Place Vendome features a much more mature Michael Kiske, whose voice is rich and warm and surprisingly well suited to this type of music.
Place Vendome should be in every melodic rock fan's collection, especially if you're a Pink Cream 69 fan. Once again, Frontiers successfully found the perfect project for an established vocalist (Starbreaker with TNT's Tony Harnell is another great example).

Album Description
Place Vendome is led by Michael Kiske (Helloween). This self titled debut includes songs set to follow a straight melodic rock sound comparable to bands like Foreigner or Journey. Production is handled by Pink Cream 69's Dennis Ward, with songs written on purpose for the record by himself with his band mates David Readman and Alfred Koffler, with contributions also from Gunther Werno of Vandenplas. In a quite ironic twist of fate Michael found himself to work with members of Pink Cream '69, when the band's original singer Andy Deris took his place in Helloween when he left! 10 total tracks. Frontiers. 2005.

Perfect melodic rock album!!.......2007-05-16
This is an absolutely awesome record! The songs are spectacular and the production is huge. Great vocals from Michael Kiske - very melodic and powerfully delivered. Backed up by a band consisting of Pink Cream 69 members ensures the music is also of the highest quality. Frontiers records have released some super albums lately when they've paired up great singers with great bands but this is definitely top 3 for them along with Danny Vaughn's "From The Inside" and the Joseph Williams album "Vertigo". Great album and highly recommended to fans of this genre.

This is exactly where Michael needs to be I own every thing hes ever done and think he has the best voice in prog metal.
This Music and song writing is the perfect venue for his vocals and the band he is with now is ideal.
The songwriting by dennis ward is perfect. and the whole band all fit perfectly.

I think this album is good because it features a mature M. Kiske. His voice is superb, even when the lyrics are extremely corny and sometimes ridiculous. A little too "pop", but still great vocals. At least we get to listen another hard rock vocalist, not only Jorn Lande or Scott Soto, or Allen...who are everywhere now...
