Arcturus on Acid.......2002-09-01

"The Pink Floyd of the Millenium" as I refer to them, have re-mixed mostly "La Masquerade Infernale" and a few other releases including a new track; Deception Genesis. Striclty as a fan of the bands I am going to be behind anything they do and enjoy it, as a new listener this would be a very hard CD to get into and may not get too much time in your CD player.

There is alot of electronics, techno and even some rap in this CD, but to me the standout song is not even performed by the band....Ad Astra (the ensemble) is strictly an orchestrated instumental but it is beautiful and for those who are fans of the Dimmu songs "Fear and Wonder" and "Perfection or Vanity" this will pull your eyeballs out of the sockets. For those that have heard the song it is about an 8 minute song with about a total of 30 seconds dedicated to vocals...truly a favorite of mine, I was ecstatic to thear the re-mix.

Certainly not the Black metal release, this is more the band having fun and while I was not dissapointed in the album, I just want to play La Masquerade Infernale and Asperia Hyms Symphonia to hear the original songs.

Pretty good ... but not the new Arcturus album.........2002-07-09

Indeed a good album; But I think it's Garm's way of trying to fart around with the La Masquerade tapes & see what sort of new sounds & funk he can get. The last track (Ad Astra [Ensemble Version]) was kinda neat to hear because it's Ad Astra - just the orchestra playing. If you like techno music and have an open mind, this album may be for you. I think it's really only for Arcturus fans, personally. I don't listen to it much at all. I really liked the song "Deception Genesis" - nice beat and good rhythm.

Overall, it's an album for Arcturus fans or techno fans.
