Customer Reviews:
Decent Early 80s Hard Rock!.......2005-11-13
Heavy Pettin were a band from Glasgow, Scotland that never got the recognition they deserved. This album was produced by Brian May of Queen and released in 1983. The lead single/video was the classic In And Out Of Love (great riff!), better than Bon Jovi's song of the same name. Other good songs are Broken Heart, Love Times Love, Victims of the Night, Rock Me (great chorus), and Devil in her Eyes. The production could have been a little better (sorry Brian), but then again it sounds kind of raw the way rock should be. If you are looking for some good hard rock before the hair metal bands of the late 80s then I recommend this album.
It comes as no surprise..........2005-09-03
Oh man! I wore this cassette out when I originally got it! The earlier release was titled "Shout It Out", and it did have a different cover, but this was one of my top 10 favorite albums of the time. I saw these guys in Seattle when they toured with Saxon on their "Crusader" tour, and it was so loud I was physically sick after they got done! Great, melodic stuff, and good energy within the band make this a worthy re-buy.
Great 80's Metal Band that America MISSED OUT ON.......2005-05-27
This LP was released in the US with another cover and title than it had in the UK. Maybe that hurt sales but this was some great music that America didn't hear. They've been compaired to Def Lep but with a harder edge. I can't tell you how many times me and my boys jammed to this LP back in the day. I still break it out several times a year 'cause it rocks.
I'm happy to know I can buy a CD of it even if the cover art isn't the same.
classic NWOBHM.......2005-05-03
This album reminds me of Highway Chile's "Storybook Heroes". Both underappreciated. Heavy Pettin, in my opinion, was Scotland's answer to early Def Leppard, however, containing more seriousness. Hard, melodic metal from the great and saddly missed 80s.
Excellent Power Metal.......2004-10-12
For fans of '80s power metal, these guys are terrific! They are considered a New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) band, and put out three albums...this one, from 1983, and two others: "Rock Ain't Dead" in 1985, and "Big Bang", in 1987. This is, by far, the best of the three. Pick it up!
