Where did this band go? Sad, sad. Hard to see how they didn't at least get more exposure. I recall first hearing "wish you were dead" back in college and loving the track, thinking it would probably be the next thing you'd hear on the radio. This is an unusual album; the mixture of a female vocalist with the raw guitar sound works perfectly. The only thing I could compare it to would be P.J. Harvey. Just about every song on the album is solid.

Now, I'm suprised no one has written review about this superb album before me..........this is OutOfOrder's masterpiece, a mix of punk, hc, ska, funk, jazz elements........song "hard life" is the best ska-punk song I've ever heard, and other, my fovourite are "misunderstandigs", "intermisson"........you must hear this album, you won't regret

Brutal and intelligent death metal.......2006-04-30

Even though Upon Inflection have just released their debut album, they are not newcomers. The band's drummer Gus Rios has actually been part of the Florida death metal scene for over 15 years, playing with bands like Malevolent Creation, Divine Empire and Kult ov Azazel (on their first disc). Rios has also studied together with the amazing Sean Reinert (Cynic, Gordian Knot) and has carried some of his jazz-death influences over to the Upon Inflection debut.

Rios' main partner in crime is the great Seth Ringler on guitars. His fluid, well-executed guitar playing lends itself to all kinds of death metal styles, ranging from ultra-technical and mammoth rhythm work on the fast and brutal "You Will Suffer"; to the short but precise chord progressions on "Surgical Murder", featuring both a killer drum and guitar solo respectively. On more oldschool death metal numbers such as "Abducted", the band opt for a darker and slightly slowed-down approach, allowing Brian Mygrant's deep growls to take the lead role as Hector Rios fills the bottom end on his bass. Amidst all this never-ending chaos, they still manage to weave melodic runs and passages into their tracks, rendering pieces like the opening cut "Order" and the punishing "Rage", both complex and melodically engaging. Seth Ringler definitely has an early Morbid Angel vibe to his playing, as his solos are usually atonal and take a different musical path to express themselves, unlike most other current death metal bands' guitarists. Other standouts include the rapid-fire riffs on "American Way", the monstrous drumming on "Lifeless and Abuseed", the epic ending of "Dead Have Risen", and the blood-spitting screams by Mygrant on "State Sanctioned Execution". As Mygrant also wrote the lyrics for all but two tracks, he seems to do a better job delivering them, given it must be a difficult task to interpret others' lyrics.

Most songs are pretty short but compositionally strong. The album clocks in at slightly over 30 minutes, and also features a great Death cover ("Mutilation"), as the final track. Recommended to fans of Morbid Angel, Malevolent Creation and even the non-jazzy parts of Cynic and Death circa Individual Thought Patterns.

I had the great pleasure of seeing this band live back in 1996, and was instantly impressed. I hadn't heard about them before, but I liked what I saw. After the concert I bought this album, and have really enjoyed it over the years. The song "Wish You Were Dead" has become one of my all time favorites! If you're in the middle of a terrible break-up, blast this song as loud as your stereo can go and just let loose. It somehow manages to ease the pain.

How come nobody has reviewed this thing? This is a must have CD. If you're on the Eve's Plum, Elastica kind of rock, this will blow your mind away. This is one of the best front-woman-punk-metal bands out there. I was wondering what people had to say about Scheer, here i am. And look. No reviews except for one. Buy this CD. It's a great deal for four collection.

I have no words to describe this album. It's a real masterpiece of the new alternative music world. The songs are really deep unlikely the girs' voice that is so sweet. Well enough talking. everybody out there should buy it right now
