About the Artist
JACOBS DREAM quickly rose to the top of the global Progressive Metal heap with their astounding 2001 self-titled debut and the 2003 follow up release "Theater Of War". Metal scribes around the globe likened the band as "Queensryche with balls" and "Maiden-esque in the Powerslave era". Having weathered several line up changes since "Theater Of War", JACOBS DREAM return with the progressive power, duel guitar harmonies and inspirational lyrics the band was so celebrated for.

5 out of 5 stars Awsome Power Metal.......2006-02-03

This album is some truely amazing metal. It is like a throwback to the days of Priest and Maiden with a few modern touches. Dual Guitar harmonies and solos all over the place and great vocals that remind me a little of Bruce Dickinson and Matt Barlow from Iced Earth. They also write lyrics with Christian themes but don't let that detract you, this is some great metal to be heard here. They really are one of the few bands still making true metal out there so if you are a fan of power or thrash or speed metal and not that nu metal garbage that polutes you should buy this album now.

4 out of 5 stars Blown Away..........2006-01-08

Downloaded this album by accident on my Napster...Haven't stopped listening to it since. Completley blown away by the musiciansihp of this fellas. A new definite must have. Again, very impressed!

4 out of 5 stars Another fine album from Jacobs Dream........2005-07-23

Jacobs Dream's new vocalist is Chaz Bond who replaces David Taylor on vocals. While David Taylor sounds somewhat like a cross between Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) and Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Chaz Bond brings to mind Eric Clayton (Saviour Machine), Gene Adam (Iced Earth's first vocalist), Geoff Tate (circa The Warning) and Matt Barlow (Iced Earth's third vocalist). All in all, Chaz Bond is probably a better vocalist than David Taylor. Bond has better range and always seems to be in control whereas some listeners were turned off by Taylor's falsetto and lack of range.

The songs here are an improvement over Theater of War (an uneven release) but still don't equal JD's powerful 2000 self-titled debut.

The music effectively combines Warning-era Queensryche, Awaken the Guardian-era Fates Warning and classic Iron Maiden. There isn't a bad song on the disc though it should be noted that Drama of the Ages lacks truly great songs (even though Theater of War was inconsistent from song to song, there were two outstanding tracks present).

This is a good disc and should please fans of Jacobs Dream.

5 out of 5 stars i love it! .......2005-07-09

Did Chaz and Co. stay up late one night listening to Deliverance's 'Learn' album over and over and then get inspired to write a similar?? It sure sounds like it!!!! That aside, here are my thoughts:
I don't know how they did it but Jacobs Dream managed to make an album that is even better than their amazing debut album. Its much stronger musically--- and their new vocalist owns. (kind of a cross between Eric Clayton of Saviour Machine and Jimmy Brown of Deliverance).
Progressive is defintely the word I would use to describe the composition-elements of Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Savior Machine as well as some of their old sound is infused to make this one hell of an impressive album.
The lyrics are much more openly Christian than their last album, which was full of abstract dichotomies and analgoies, lyrically speaking. but the music and new vocalist are so impressive that I don't even notice that as a bad thing!
