It doesn't happen much, but there are times when the departure of a group's most prominent player inspires the rest of the act to get seriously bizzy. Strength & Love, a tight disc that skitters from track to shiny track with imagination and a renewed sense of rap's widened boundaries, makes Bone Thugs-N-Harmony a prime example. Without Bizzy Bone to layer a drizzle of Midwestern vocal weirdness over their sound, Layzie, Krayzie, and Wish Bone call in a crew of hard-hitting helpers: Akon delivers twice, first on the melting "I Tried" and again on the weepy "Never Forget Me," Mariah Carey flits through "Lil Love" alongside Bow Wow, and Twista and Yolanda Adams also make reputation-enhancing appearances (Twista by barreling through "C-Town" at breakneck speed and Adams by giving it up gorgeously for God on "Order My Steps (Dear Lord)"). Best of all about this proud-making comeback disc is its clever use of samples: "Wind Blow" pins the Fleetwood Mac chestnut "The Chain" down to urban pavement without wrecking its spirit, and the smartly produced "The Streets" updates the vibe of Bobby Womack's timeless "Across 110th Street" while preserving its grit-covered class. --Tammy La Gorce

Every track on this cd is good ive been a bonethugz fan ever since i could listen to music i grew up with most of there music so i was excited when i found out they where comin out with a new cd if you like bone thugs at all you should get this.

This track & "I Tried" are two of the best tracks I've heard from anyone in years.
I would compare them to DMX & 2Pac.

I was a bit disapointed because there are only two or three songs on the CD that I play. I guess my expectations were too high and too reminiscent of their old stuff. My son plays it non stop, hence the reason 3 stars!
Their best since The Art Of War.......2007-07-08
To me,this is the Bone cd is the best since the Art Of War. I liked some tracks off of Resurrection, and Thug Stories was the best cd in a long time,but this tops both of those albums with no problem at all. I like every track on here except for 2 of them. Tha Bone boys are back and they brought they fire flow that they were known for in the begining!!!
If you still doubt this groups talent then listen to the album opener Flow Motion...makes my jaw drop every time that I hear that track!
Bump In The trunk should become another Bone classic. They actually make "Wind Blow" work 100%! The first single is a sad song about trying in life,but also kind of inspirational at the same time. C-Town with Twista is awesome, everyone tears their verse up! 9mm and Gun Blast remind me of them 'ole Bone Boys classicks!!!
If you ever been a fan of Bone, then pick this classick up! Bone boys are back 110%!

This acoustic supergroup joined forces in the summer of 1988, and the result was a true landmark in "new acoustic" music. As if bluegrass (and even "newgrass") was too constricting, the quintet--Sam Bush (mandolin), Jerry Douglas (dobro), Bela Fleck (banjo), Mark O'Connor (violin), and Edgar Meyer (bass)--incorporates classical-style themes and arrangements within the context of bluegrass instrumentation. Their unbelievable technique and musical ability was never in question; however, what makes the album special is the uncanny blend of precision and freedom, of improvisation and structure. Each of the 10 compositions were written by a different twosome (do the math permutations). Playful bluesy lopes ("Pink Flamingo") accompany tinges of reggae ("The Locks of Dread"), Celtic ("Macedonia"), and Middle Eastern ("Blue Men of the Sahara") music. There are urgent burners, somber mood pieces, and tender ballads, all delivered with grace. --Marc Greilsamer

The incredible chemistry of this ensemble of string wizards mixes bluegrass sounds with every other genre in a way not yet duplicated. Unreal. You must have this CD.
The Telluride Sessions (Strength In Numbers).......2007-01-12
I first heard the group "Strength In Numbers" years ago on a show called Lone Pine Special. The entire band was phenomenal. It took bluegrass in a whole new and exciting direction. Each player is amazing in his own right as well as mixing beautifully with the other players. Most of this music is what I consider a bluegrass jazz fusion. This is a wonderful CD to include in an otherwise standard collection of traditional bluegrass. The virtuosity of each of these musicians is mindboggling. Some of the cuts make you want to jump up and dance while others cause you to pause, intently listen, and examine the musical techniques presented. Being a banjo and guitar player myself, it was a real joy to listen to such prolific musicianship. I found myself challenged and awed by this CD. I highly recommend this CD.
Bluegrass a little less blue.......2006-12-13
Bluegrass remains in many ways a music that holds its devotees close but perhaps offers less to the uninitiated or to those for whom the insistance on rigorous adherence to some predefined bluegrass standard seems a bit self-involved. Often times reverence towards tradition and outright musical athleticism get in the way of what is at the core a very strong musical message. This CD is one that easily reaches across boundaries and, with bluegrass sensibilities intact but not binding, presents contemporary acoustic country at its best. The musicians present are all masters of their instruments and all have worked together and known each other for years. The music they produce seems almost effortless but at the same time conveys no sense of sloppiness or lack of professionalism. There is a clear musical statement here coupled with a strong feeling so that the musicianship serves an end rather than just becoming an end in itself. Standouts include One Winter's Night, Blue Men of the Sahara, and the wonderful mandolin duet on Macedonia featuring Sam Bush and reminding us that Mark O'Connor can play anything. For the bluegrass traditionalist, the music may seem heresy. For the rest of us, this is a wonderful recording suitable for repeated listening. Definitely not for bluegrass fans only.
As fresh as ever.......2006-09-07
I just bought it; 17 years after its release. Not that that should matter as I have purchased jazz recordings from the fifties. This CD is my first introduction to bluegrass or newgrass or whatever grass. I agree with some of the reviewers that this music is beyond classification. I don't think it gets any better than this. I love the melodies, the harmonies, musicianship and the quality of the recording. I listen to it at home and in the car. There are some world influences in couple of numbers. By the way, "Macedonia" has a Balkan tint to it, not celtic. Inspired by this CD I started tracking the recording of individual artists involved as the group represented a "summit" of sorts. Next thing I will be moving to the Appalachian Mountains.
Acoustic fire!.......2005-12-25
It all started when my friend Ashley used "Macedonia" (track six) to demonstrate the quality of his JBL iPod speaker ring. Never having listened to bluegrass before, I asked what kind of music it was and he said it is beyond classification. So I listened to "Slopes" and got the kind of euphoric rush you get when you're having a sports-related high or the ecstatic sensation of moving at great speed.
No matter what you think of bluegrass or banjos, anyone who takes delight in music that is intricate, brilliant, sensuous and evocative, will find much to love about this album. Jazz fans will appreciate the Pat Metheny undertones and harmonies in tracks like "One Winter's Night." I would be first in line for any new project by this line-up of virtuoso musicians. What a joy to listen to flawless musical jamming!

This set lends itself to greatly enhancing one's knowledge of the orchestra, instruments in it, and their usage. I am a huge music buff, and I still picked up a great deal I previously did not know. I highly recommend this for all who wish to understand the origin of music, as well as the processes that are employed to create music!

This CD is excellent for the beginner or expert! To be able to haear the instrumets separately and then together really provides a good education. and/or refresher. The book thaty comes with the CD is alomost worth the price by itself!
Very Informative and Enjoyable.......2006-11-20
Whether you're a music novice or pro, "The instruments of the Orchestra" is a very worthwhile purchase. The 7 CDs, with a total of 8 hours, are expertly narrated by Jeremy Siepmann. He's a great speaker, very much like the late Leonard Bernstein was. Mr. Siepmann takes you on an unforgetable musical journey covering the origins and use of the various orchestral instruments throughout musical history. The balance between his narration and a wealth of musical examples, which range from snippets to entire movements, is superb. The comprehensive enclosed booklet is excellent and faithfully follows the 7 CDs in content. Even with my 40+ years of music training I still learned new things from this wonderful collection. Considering the excellence of the content, and a cost that translates to about $5 per disc, this collection is a great value. Grab it, you won't regret that you did. Five solid stars!

This boxed set of CD's with booklet achieved all I had hoped that it would. There are good samples of individual instruments and well done commentary on each. The only drawback was that some of the samples were too brief and could have been longer, hoiwever I guess this fits in with time constraints of the medium. It has given me a lot of clues as to future purchases of CD's for listening to individual instruments. Altogeth a satisfactory purchase and a welcome addition to my collection.
Excellent Intro for Those Not Familiar with the Orchestra.......2003-11-08
I've listened to classical music for years and am interested in composition. I bought this CD set to learn how an orchestra and its instruments work. I thought the CDs would be a nice but boring lecture. They aren't! Not only are they FUN but they are informative as well. I learned a huge amount from each CD and couldn't wait to listen to the next one.
The narrator and writer is a great speaker and holds your attention well. He is definitely knowledgeable. He provides musical examples for each point he makes, so you get to "hear" what he just talked about. I'd say the CDs are about 65% music and 35% narration. You'll learn about the range of instruments, some history, different ways to play them, how they sound, and how they are used in the orchestra. This CD set was a great learning experience and is sold at such a low price!
I recommend this CD for those who want to learn about classical music and those who know about it but are interested in learning more about the inner workings of an orchestra. You'll learn much useful information. For instance, the Rite of Spring (with that eerie start) is written for bassoon! I never knew a bassoon could sound like that but now I do.
The one complaint I have is the last CD. This deals with the orchestra. I wanted more of a tour of how the orchestra has been used through history up to the present. Instead, it was a tour of how different groups of instruments sound. I thought it could have been better. The other 6 CDs are excellent.

Let me tell you...I work in a very diverse office building....a place where everyone likes their own music and not yours. I popped this CD in my disc drive one Saturday morning and people from nearby departments were dancing and singing along with the music! Everyone came together and had such a great time...they recognized the song from the first couple of beats and we danced and sang along....then I popped in Rhino Instant Party Mix - Extra Strength....and WOW....it was more of a party than work. Someone pass the chips and dip! Great CD!!!

I bought both this CD and the Extra Strength CD and played them at one of my DJ gigs and they were both a huge success. Could have gotten away with playing them from beginning to end since there is a great variety. I recommend this CD to all!

This is a very decent album. I am not a huge fan, but this album and Special Forces are true classic rock albums. There is not a bad track on this CD. And some of these are some really good rockers!!!
Unfortunately, this was the last good album .38 Special made.

I have been a huge fan of .38 Special for a long time. This album, "Strength in Numbers" has been my favorite. I have the album and cassette but not the CD. This album has the best of the songs they have released.
A Solid Rock and Roll Album from 38 Special!!.......2004-04-10
"Strength in Numbers" is the 1986 album release from Southern Arena rockers 38 Special. At the time, the band was at the peak of a winning streak crafting albums of upbeat melodic pop-rock with a slight Country tinge. This album is no exception. It's a fantastic album from beginning to finish and displays the band's tight musicality and hook-filled songwriting at its best.
Guitarist Don Barnes is mostly up front on lead vocals here while main lead singer Donnie Van Zant takes a step back from the microphone until the very end of the album bringing it to a dynamic finish on its final two tracks.
Tracks such as the hits "Somebody Like You" and "Like No Other Night" were all over the airwaves when this album was released. Other standouts such as "Last Time", "Just A Little Love", "Hearts On Fire" and "Against The Night" are impossible to dislike and contain enough hooks to have you humming in no time. The slower tracks ("Once In A Lifetime" and "Has There Ever Been A Good Goodbye") are equally enjoyable and shows the band tackling ballads as effortless as their trademark rock numbers.
With all this said, "Strength In Numbers" is a great album and a wonderful trip down memory lane. The album also marked the end of an era for 38 Special. Two years later, the band regrouped with a new line-up without guitarist/singer Don Barnes. Barnes did return to the band a decade later bringing back its signature sound.
If you can find a copy of "Strength In Numbers" (as I was fortunate enough to find), pick it up. It's worth it.
Undiscovered Gem........2003-12-23
In many ways, it's a mix of their early 80s hard Country tinged rock, and the arena pop/rock of their next album "Rock & Roll Strategy."
1) Somebody Like You -- Energy packed arena rock minor hit with a slight southern sound. A heartbreak and break-up song these guys do so well. I'm still amazed this didn't become a huge hit.
2) Like No Other Night -- Another small hit. Similar to the first song, but not quite as poppy or catchy.
3) Last Time -- Melodic, only slightly less heavy pop tune about this being the 'Last Time' his girl will get another chance again. I don't think it was actually a hit, but I very vaguely *think* I might have heard it played on the radio. (Keep in mind, I was only about 4 years old when this came out). It's also worthy of being a big hit.
4) Once in a Lifetime -- The first song to be a semi ballad. Not as good as the first three tunes, but another underrated pop masterpiece. Just another reason to pick this entire album up, even if you have a hits package.
5) Just A Little Love -- More of a Country sounding mid tempo rocker, about how 'Just a little love can go a long way.'
6) Has There Ever Been A Good Goodbye -- A good question. LOL. A slightly uptempo southern rock ballad which begs this very question. One of the more pop songs of the album.
7) One in a Million -- Just about the most underrated song in their catalogue. A true ballad, with an '80s poppy, melodic sound. Could have easily been a huge hit. A precursor to what would be on their next album.
8) Hearts on Fire -- A tougher edged mid tempo rocker sure to please fans of the bands' earlier, heavier work. It's less pop and the most Country sounding song on the album, but it still fits in.
9) Against the Night -- A masterpiece which never deserved to be just an album track! Melodic, hard pop/rock arena anthem that's just a lot of fun. As an analogy, imagine Journey or Loverboy performing southern fried rock.
10) Never Give an Inch -- Back to a more basic, mid tempo southern sound. This time, about not giving in. A good, but not great album closer.
I'm not sure if this CD is even in print anymore. If you're into Eddie Money, Georgia Satellites, Lynyrd Skynard; 80 music; or even Country and you see this somewhere, pick it up! The best songs are actually the non-hits.
38 Specials Best.......2002-12-22
This was also my first 38 Special CD (actually it was an album), and everytime I play it, it ends too soon. Not a bad cut on this CD. There may have been stronger individual songs on their earlier stuff, but there was a big drop off in effort after that one or two songs, where the rest of the CD was not up to the same quality. Don Barnes had a hand in writing seven of the ten cuts here, and he is usually involved in their better songs. Rarely does he write one alone, but even on Flashback (a greatest hits CD), he was involved in eight of the fourteen cuts there. Not trying to put down the others in the band, but I personally enjoy his stuff the most. The song "Like No Other Night" is my personal favorite, but from beginning to end if you are looking for 38 Special's best that is not on a Greatest Hits package, this is the one you want to start with. The only drawback to buying this one first is that you will never be as pleased with any of the others from beginning to end. I have all but their live CD, and have never regreted having any of them.

Granddaddy of the Hollywood studios, Paramount Pictures is rightfully proud of its century of contributions to both American cinema and the art of film scoring. But the first disc of this 43-track double-CD anthology merely hints at the studio's musical peaks, blithely skipping through its first seven decades in just 17 tracks. Indeed, the package as a whole seems more interested in marketing its post-'70s catalog of hits and blockbusters than it does in paying real homage to history and roots. Even rarities like Double Indemnity and The Lost Weekend are served up via modern budget-line rerecordings, as is Ennio Morricone's epochal Once upon a Time in the West). Contemporary recordings of Aaron Copland's rare score to The Heiress and Franz Waxman's great Sunset Blvd. fare better, but soundtrack fans may miss the originals. The studio's rich pop-crossover successes in the '60s are documented via Breakfast at Tiffany's "Moon River" and excerpts from Romeo and Juliet and Love Story, while successful franchises like Star Trek and Raiders also get their due. Too often the '90s-focused second disc only underscores some uncomfortable trends in contemporary scoring--orchestral nervous tics punctuated by booming crescendos, treacly piano Muzak--and makes one wonder if the music of The Rugrats Movie and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider are really film music milestones. --Jerry McCulley

If you love movies and movie music, you can't go wrong with this two cd Paramount Anniversary set.
Only Disc 1 Is Worth Anything.......2006-07-19
Normally I have a lot to say in my reviews, but not this time. The main problem with this collection is that all the most memorable film scores are just on one disc, with the second used mostly to play out stuff from the last ten years that, really, musically isn't very memorable and only includes three pieces anyone will recognize just because, like the movies they come from, they're based on old TV shows - The Addams Family, Star Trek, and Mission: Impossible.
And that brings up another problem. With all due respect to the late Jerry Goldsmith, who has provided some truly great classic movie scores, was it REALLY necessary to include TWO versions of the SAME Star Trek march in this collection? This seems evocative of the milk-it-for-all-its-worth attitude Paramount has had lately toward its now-tarnished crown-jewel franchise. Where's James Horner's theme music from Star Trek II and III? If they're gonna put Star Trek on here twice, they should have provided a little diversity. It wouldn't have taken much, I'm sure.
I'm sure that Paramount's had other films with far more memorable music (even Harold Faltermeyer's Top Gun Anthem could have helped on Disc 2). This just seems like a lazy attempt at something that really could have been great.
More of a propaganda CD.......2002-10-30
There are some really great songs on this 2 CD set. However, those really great songs seem to be lightly interspersed amongst a large number of forgettable songs whose main purpose seems to be to remind you of those movies you enjoy(ed) so much.
It seems a little odd to me that out of 90 years of film making the most memorable scores have been largely released within the last few years. I was pleased to find themes from the Godfather, Indiana Jones and Witness. I was perplexed with the inclusion of songs from Rugrats, both Mission Impossible movies (one would have been more than enough) and Tomb Raider (memorable???).
This is my own personal bias, but I do prefer movie soundtracks that evoke a feeling of excitement. With this collection I just couldn't get excited. I kept finding myself being let down by songs that didn't in some way complement the preceeding song.
There are certainly some great tracks here, but overall I was disappointed. My advise would be to look elsewhere.
Great selection of Film Hits!.......2002-09-25
This one was a pleasant surprise! I thought- how could any CD that had "Baby Elephant Walk" be all that good? This one is. Lots of great scores- classics and a few hidden treasures. After hearing the beautiful title score for "Children of a Lesser God", I had to buy the entire soundtrack - very soothing. There are a few that may seem too overplayed ("Love Story", "Raiders of the Lost Ark",), but most are a welcome addition to any compilation. Try NOT loving "Building the Barn" from "Witness" or the "Hymn to the Fallen" from "Saving Private Ryan". Hours of great listening.
Older recordings, main themes only.......2002-08-27
This is a great album concept, but I really wish Paramount had re-recorded these scores as they deserve to be heard. The tracks range from 1944 to the present, and the older recordings sound just like the cleaned-up older recordings that they are.
I would also personally have enjoyed more "secondary" music themes (otherwise it becomes like reading book summaries that always only quote the opening paragraph), and I could easily have done without the "pop" tunes (like Baby Elephant Walk and the Rugrats theme). In fact, it would have been very nice to listen to an album comprised of tracks chosen for their strong musical value rather than apparently for their box office and/or hit song popularity. But, to be fair, that may be precisely what draws some people to this CD set.
Film score music constitutes the single most significant body of classical music of our time. I hope some of these tracks will entice listeners to buy entire soundtracks and listen to some of these works as a whole.

I have both disc in the series. I liked the music on this disc much more than the first. The selections seem more focused and the sounds are much clearer. Also, the particular pieces fit better together. I love the sound of this group and hope they make more in the future.
Not as good as version 1 in this series.......2004-09-03
This is by the same group who did the wonderful & engaging Early American Choral Music 1. Somehow this CD did not live up to its predecessor in some ways. The performance is still top notch, but somehow the CD as a whole isn't quite as engaging to listen to as the first. Perhaps version 2's strength is also its weakness. Its diversity of composers allows you to pear past the shadow of William Billings and sample other notable early American hymn writers. That exposure is valuable & appreciated. I just couldn't get into it as much.
A final note: many of the texts are beautiful (and available from the publisher's web site). However, I would criticize "Who is this that cometh from Edom?" as dwelling just a bit too much on the Jews' rejection of Jesus. Among other reasons & issues, Christianity says that we are all sinners & there is no cause to single a particular group out negatively.

Please note this CD is a duplicate of His Majestie's Clerkes's "Goostly Psalmes: Anglo-American Psalmody 1550-1800" -- identical contents but a different name and cover. I ordered both and was irritated to discover this. This CD is cheaper, so I recommend this one. It is a lovely choral work from a little-known period of sacred music.

On the real, this album is too sick. Bone is back!! The hit single 'I Tried' is amazing, as is the rest of the album. My favorite tracks include Flowmotion, C-Town, Streets, 9mm, and Candy Paint. Do not sleep on this, cuz them Bone Boyz Are Back!! Thank You FULL SURFACE for bringing 'em back into the game.

Lotus matures.......2006-05-08
On TSOWT, Lotus expandes their style and proves to be a multidimensional, eclectic band. As with any musical experimentation, this first outing may be a surprise to fans of their previous releases and live performances. For the majority of the album, Lotus moves away from the housey beats and guitar-based melodies of Nomad and Germination. At its best, songs such as 'Blue Giant' and 'Bubonic tonic' are excellent soundscapes with patented Lotus groove that take you into a trancendent state. There are some songs, including 'When H binds to O' and 'Drunken Giraffe without as clear a melodic message and more of a jazz feel than the quentiessential Lotus song. Although these are interesting, worthwhile songs they are also a large departure from the dance-infused live shows and releases. Perhaps we can take this as a sign that Lotus will continue to keep us on our toes.
On live and studio performances........2006-04-11
For a band like Lotus, I think it is important to understand their studio releases in conjunction with their live performances - and fortunately I was able to seem them on the same day I bought this CD. The last two times I have seen them live, they played for about 4 hours of ethereal, electronically-fused, jam music with something of a jazz/rock/funk base. There is certainly a lot of improvisation, but the emphasis is on cohesive grooves and not, like much jazz, on solos. This, coupled with an emphasis on minimalism, reinforces an ethereal, other-wordly feeling.
Nomad, their first and previously latest studio album, seemed to completely miss this aspect of their music. The jams were too polished to really be jams, and yet there were no really strong melodies. They turned out to make great concert pieces, but this only supported my belief that Lotus would be better off avoiding the studio and instead recording everyone of their concerts for maybe $3 or $4 a pop, to fans who would certainly gobble it up. (I still think this is a good idea, although many of their concerts are available to download anyway)
The Strength of Weak Ties has shown that Lotus is indeed capable of using the studio as a unique creative tool. Unlike Nomad, it has some memorable melodies (while maintaining great grooves), and unlike their first (a live album) Germination, it offers something not easily matched in a live performance (in other words, the best candidate of the three for an album).
This album also breaks new ground for Lotus in two, seemingly divergent, ways. First, there is a more mainstream/pop side to the band. This is partly due to their application of synthesizers (of which they use more here than in concert) in more of a house style, and surely due to their inclusion of a guest singer on a few (the more poppy) pieces. However, there are certainly no outright commercial fluff pieces - even the opener, Tip of the Tongue (perhaps the closest to this), has some adventurous (comparatively) dissonant phrases that would be inappropriate to a pop piece. It also has a light funk quality to it, which would place them more in the realm of soft jazz than pop.
Secondly, some of the pieces are LESS poppy and like electronica-dance than on Nomad or Germination. Perhaps most of the heart of this album is that way - from When H Binds to O through Epidemic. Here they venture more towards MM&W, or electronica-jazz outfits like Jaga Jazzist. (At one point on When H Binds to O they even reminded me of King Crimson - but I fear that only goes to show my own background in prog). Some of these are much less minimalistic than Nomad. Nomad was characterized by the majority of pieces centering on one theme, and a progression of at most two chords. If you were to play along, you could easily keep the same root on most pieces. On The Strength of Weak Ties, the pieces are still fairly simple for the most part, but certainly more complex than Nomad. Blue Giant is a good example of one of those pieces with more thematic complexity (again, this is only in relevance) than their earlier work, while still keeping some cool grooves.
Kesey Seed is one of the pieces I am not quite sure about. I loved hearing this live in concert and on bootlegs, and wondered why they had not included it on Nomad. This version is significantly different from the live performances though. Right now I think the live version had more energy and a nice mysticism, however I think it is too early to know if I am being objective or simply wishing for the piece I have already known.
The album ends with two less memorable pieces. Cirrus is a soft blues piece somewhat similar to Colorado on Nomad. For the most part, I felt less a sense of Rempel on this than in concerts or Nomad, but I really heard him here. Unfortunately, this is, in my opinion, not one of the better pieces here.
On a final note, I dig the artwork - an abstract painting with cool colors. Very Lotus.

It's amazing how hearing these settings can help you to understand the Psalms more fully than simply reading them might permit. This performance is clear and precise, and in no way lacks emotion or expression. I have always found these settings to be very moving, and King's College certainly conveys their power. A must buy for those who long for traditional settings, and who find modern "religious" music to be tiresome and unimpressive.
Just what I wanted........2007-01-03
An escape from "modern christian" music. These are the words of the Psalms set to music, sung in a cathedral by angelic voices. This is what Heaven's music sounds like I'm sure!
Analog recording superior.......2005-11-10
This is a fantastic recording from I believe 1968 when the King's Choir was led by Willcocks. In my opinion, these older analog recordings are sharper and more distinct -- you can actually hear individual boys and parts. Perhaps that has more to do with engineering and placement of microphones than digital vs. analog. But the bottom line is this is a vintage recording and is as good as it gets.
High comfort level.......2004-11-07
I would surely like to obtain a complete collection of all psalms by this choir. For years I have looked, searched, for this collection which I heard as a child played every sunday in South America. A great collection, ageless and timeless something have and play in the home for upliftment and inspiration even if you are not a religous person. Endless stars ****************************

Had this music been recorded digitally, it would have been beyond sublime. Alas, it still has an analog sound to it, despite the remastering. Nonetheless, it is worth the purchase (though for a better recording of the 46th Psalm, check out the Choir of Christ's Hospital recording of it).
