Practice makes perfect.......2007-01-15

Joe stumps career starts here with SPEED METAL MESSIAH. If you love shred music like I do. This CD is the one you want to start with. Don't bother going back to buy his other stuff. It just doesn't compare to this great CD. I've met and saw joe in concert. He's a great guy and a total show men on stage. The sound on this disc is finlly right compared to the others. He actually lets the bass and drums blend in with his playing for the first time. It's made a big differce in the listen. I hope he's learned from this and makes another killer CD. I'll be waiting. thanks joe

Great piece of work and I'm not his biggest fan.......2006-06-10

In the past while impressed with Joe Stumps perfect technique, I have not been very impressed with his music. He simply takes to much from Yngwie Malmsteen. However his tone and production were never close to Malmsteen or even that listenable in my opinion.

With Speed Metal Messiah, Joe has turned down the distortion a little and cleaned up the production. This is a great improvement. While he still borrows 95% of his licks from Yngwie Malmsteen, Stump actually seems to be making it his own on this album and the melodies are very good. The playing on this record is ferocious. Its jaw dropping. I think even Yngwie would be impressed. Joe Stump plays passages that simply are as fast as they can be played man or machine. Not many people can play like this which is why I listen to Joe in the first place. Its amazing stuff and his meter is exceptional. This time around he sounds musical as well. In the past he's sounded like an exercise but I actually got into the movements on this album. They are fast, unrelenting and musical all at once. The guitar tone is better as is the overall production. All this sums into a great album. Its a huge piece of work and its worth buying hands down.

I rarely give anything 5 stars. However all the work it takes to achieve something like this album ... its worth 5 stars. I now look forward to Joe Stumps next release. If it never comes thats OK too because I'll probably still be digesting Speed Metal Messiah in the next 5 years.

Joe Stump has to be the fastest neo-classical/shred/metal guitarist I've heard to date. If you haven't heard of him or have and wondering if you should pick this up - DO IT - Feed your CD player somethin' healthy!

Regardless of whether you are a metal fan or afficianado of technically proficient instrumental guitar music, this album will knock your socks off. It is a shame that Mr. Stump doesn't get the hallowed recognition he deserves...if you ask me, he harbors way more musical talent that Vai and Satriani combined (both of whom are the personification of watered-down commercialism tragically so inherent in much of today's music). This man is a veritable guitar virtuoso, a master of his craft. Buy this NOW!
