Opera for Aficianados as well as Newbies.......2007-06-11
If you are looking for peaceful, beautiful music this is for you. It is a delightful mix of some of opera's most memorable moments. Long time opera fans will be familiar with most of the arias and newcomers to opera will recognize music that has become identified with movies and commercials.
superb! .......2007-05-12
If you love wonderful operatic moments then this cd is a great buy for all of the wonderful and spectacular music on it. You get two cds for the price of one great opera cd, and all of the talented singers that were taken and put on these tracks do definate justice to all of the composers listed. A great cd to add to your collection especially if you are an aspiring singer or a student in music. Absolutely Fantastic!
beatiful music.......2007-02-23
former reviews are no exaggeration, this is the most beautiful music I have come across. I have many opera CDs but this is one I never tire of.
I listen to the CD everyday and it is always soothing, uplifting and inspiring. I wish I could find another as wonderful.
Best Opera CD ever.......2007-02-16
I have orderd plenty of classical CD's and DVD's on this webside.
Most were phantastish but this one is the best.
I listen so often to this CD that it should have grooves.
I never get tired of it.
I recommend this CD highly.

Soul has been through a lot of changes of late, and if there seems to be an oversupply of young divas-in-waiting today, you can probably thank Anita Baker for it. Baker was one of the few singers that bridged the old school to the new, and this 1986 album was--and is--a true soul classic. An inspiration for everyone from Whitney Houston to Toni Braxton, Baker carved the way with soaring vocals and an effortless style on tracks like "Sweet Love" and "You Bring Me Joy." "Caught Up in the Rapture" was the anthem for many a lovestruck couple, and Baker sums it up best herself in the same song: "Nothing else can compare." --Rebecca Wallwork
Customer Reviews:
Pure Love Music.......2007-07-30
This was Anita's second solo release, and it's pure magic. Few recordings have been made like this that express a woman's love so naturally and with such emotion.Going through track by track reviews is unecessary, every song is a gem. Anita was definitely in love with a brother when she made this recording. It sounds just as fresh today as it did back in '86.
Anita made much more beautiful music, but this is her modern day classic.
A wonder album in need of remastering.......2007-05-26
When this album came out in 1986, Anita Baker injected radio with some much-needed soul. Quite simply, there was nothing like "Rapture" on the radio in the mid-'80s. Her smoky voice and jazzy songs were the opposite of the music of the divas of the day, Madonna, Whitney and Janet.
Twenty years later, the album's music has not aged a day at all. Sweet Love is one of the best radio singles to come out of the '80s, and Caught Up in the Rapture is right up there with it.
The only drawback is that after 20 years, the CD quality is not up to par in this day of sleek technology and remastering. Why this album remains in the vaults waiting to be dusted off and remastered remains a mystery to me. If any album from the '80s deserves to reissued, this is it.
Simply a must have... for all the true romantics out there. .......2007-05-24
This is simply one of those recordings that is a must have for those who love first class, essential, Rhythm & Blues done by a gifted vocalist with a first class voice. She has that combination of range, power and knows when and how to use it.
Not to make you think that she is a jazz vocalist or that this is a jazz recording, which it is not, but the most obvious comparison I can make in richness of voice, power of delivery and inventive phrase, would be Sarah Vaughan. Trust me that is BIG company. That is a very good thing. Vocalists like that come along every few decades.
Most importantly she has the soul and heart of a true romantic. These songs just go straight to the heart of you. No vocal acrobatics at the expense of the song or the intended sentiment. When she belts it out, it is at the moment in which the intensity is necessary.
Most of these pieces are ballads and all are love songs but they are delivered with sophistication, sensuality, sincerity and power.
When I first heard this and then saw her perform this, she held me transfixed.
The poignancy of "No One In The Word", "Rapture", "Sweet Love", "Mystery" and "You Bring Me Joy" amidst good solid well instrumentation make these five pieces real high points and memorable R&B. The pieces have something that is often lost these days. That ability to shift to accentuate a point of mood and then back again.
There is a lithe sensuality throughout this recording that is missing from much of the so called quiet storm recordings where romance is lost for the schmaltz or sexuality.
There is a a balance. Throughout Anita delivers with as fine a voice as I've heard before or since. She has a voice as rich as a Sarah Vaughan/Oleta Adams. Round tones and an impressive range. When she belts it out she does so in context and not as a means on to itself.
More people should know of this recording.
Anita Baker is one of a kind and if you get just one Anita Baker recording, get this one, you won't be sorry.
Rapture..........2007-02-03
Loved it when it was on wax, love it even more that it's on CD. I can give Ms. Baker (of Chapter 8 fame) nothing less than five stars!

The Rapture wasn't the first band to revisit the clanky dance-punk sounds of bands like P.I.L. and Gang of Four. But with its DFA-produced debut, 2003's Echoes, and the accompanying underground hit, "House of Jealous Lovers," the Brooklyn quartet proved itself to be the most worthy. On its follow-up, the group makes a dramatic left turn with a new crew of producers (Ewan Pearson and Paul Epworth, plus a pair of tracks recorded with Danger Mouse of Gorillaz and Gnarlz Barkley fame) and a more sophisticated sound that yields pop gems like "Whoo! Alright Yeah
Uh Huh" and "The Devil." Reassuringly, the saxophones, cowbells and singer Luke Jenner's unintelligible yelps are still present, as is all the manic energy that goes along with it. --Aidin Vaziri

Just plain fun.......2007-06-27
This album will make you want to get off your chair and move. The perfect song for exercising if you're into that sort of thing. I enjoy the whole album a great deal and consider it the band's best work to date.
Fun times on the dance floor!.......2007-05-13
I really found Pieces of People We Love very enjoyable being the type of album which brightens you day. I tend to stick it on whenever im feeling a little low, and its energetic beats and excitable vocals lifted my spirits. Although many believe that their lyrics can be a bit meaningless and simple, i found them a refreshing change to some of the darn right depressing, suicidal songs which tend to fill up the charts.
Love Whoo! Alright Yeah uh ha video clip, a real fav of mine. Wyeth Hansen's animation is teriffic bringing a retro happy vibe to the scene. Got inspiration from it for a animation assignment. people dancing crazily , wicked fun!

fun via New York.......2007-05-12
much more upbeat and listenable than "echoes" despite the prior album's great singles. this album is less schizo than echoes yet has the same vibe. great to play loud in a car.
A Whole New Level For The Rapture.......2007-01-29
The Rapture's latest release "Pieces of the People We Love" is unobjectionably one of the danciest albums of 2006. What makes this release so great is that Luke Jenner really went the extra mile to show every bit of his sassy and surprisingly rangy voice. The music is more refined and has much better sound quality, coinciding no doubt with their growing popularity. So while the album's completion took much longer than expected, it was well worth the wait. This CD is all about making anyone who hears have the unshakable urge to get up and dance. It delivers on its intent with funky bass riffs, incredible vocals, great dance beats and more cowbell then you will ever know what to do with. This album is worth every penny of your money; you will be not be disappointed. Lookout for tracks 1,3,4 and 6; they are some of the Rapture's best work to date.
Get Yourself Into It.......2007-01-16
This CD is a total blast!! These guys are way hip and as a New Yorker, I can totally understand why The Rapture infuse every musical style into their sound......in New York one is bombarded by sounds of every genre and culture on a daily basis. Naturally, bands from New York City are hard to categorize.
"Pieces of the People We Love" blends punk rock, 70's disco, 70's funk, electronica, psychedelic rock, and vocal harmonies into one mind-bending and hooky sound. It's absolutely awesome. There's one or two tracks that I don't really like, but the majority of the album is simply KILLER!!
On one hand, I dig that The Rapture are indie, lurking just underground from the mainstream where us indie fans can enjoy them for ourselves, yet on the other hand The Rapture are so damn good that you wish them superstardom. For now, I'll just listen to this classic over and over with pleasure!

Owing Much to Gang of Four, the Cure, David Bowie and P.i.l., The Rapture Are One Retro Band that Even a Jaded Postpunker Can Learn to Love. Here is the Stuff with which So Many have Waited for So Long to Hear. Though They Clearly Do Live Sampling (Could They Be Any More Blatant Than the Drum Beat on "Open Up Your Heart"?), It's Easy to Forgive Here Because There is So Much Meat on These Bones and it is Served Well Done. Give it a Listen, You Won't Regret It!

Give this a spin..........2007-01-25
I love this cd to death. They are a straight up great indie dance punk/post-punk band. Influenced by bands like Public Image Ltd.(or PIL), if you don't believe me just check out PIL's song 'Careering'. This is the best album I have heard by them by far, it is even better than the debut 'Mirror'. For those of you who listened to Mirror and didn't get much out of it, just give them one more chance. It has more variety, more polished maybe, but overall better sound. Luke Jenner has a very high voice, maybe annoying to some, but I like him. You should just listen to the lyrics and the intensity of the music and you will get past that. The opening song, 'Olio', is also on Mirror, but this version is a more fully realized version of that song and much better. 'Heaven' ends with a joyously screeching saxophone at the end, and the end is my my favorite part of the song. 'Open Up Your Heart' slows it down a lot, but it is a great listen. 'The Killing Of Spring' is the best song the Talking Heads never made. 'Love Is All' reminds me of what would happen if the Beatles were still together in this day and age, and decided to go post-punk. The ending song is the slowest on here but a good closer. Maybe you have heard of Radio 4 before, they are a good band too, but in my opinion they sound a lot like the Rapture, and these guys are just better. If your are interested in bands like Gang Of Four, LCD Soundsystem, or just dance punk and post punk in general you should look into getting some of their music, this one first.
Needs more cowbell........2006-03-01
The Rapture is a fine band, but if you ask me, they could use a bit more cowbell. Trust me, more cowbell is never a bad thing.
Pathetic Cure knock off.......2006-01-12
It sounds like a lost Cure album. Which is gret, if thats what you're looking for. But if you want fresh and original music leave this one alone. Actually, leave the whole dance-punk scene alone. The Rapture, The Faint, The Bravery, and the list goes on... they all sound like knock offs of The Cure, Joy Division, Gang of Four, etc. I'm not saying influenced, I'm saying direct rip off.
My Ears Hurt.......2005-08-25
Pretentious, irritating "music" that even a goth would shun. If you want to listen to the sound of nails on a chalkboard....then please be my guest and buy this compost heap.
Over hyped.......2005-05-09
First off stop comparing them to the Cure !! this CD takes a few listenings to get into. Its not the best album of any year but if you are in the mood for some upbeat fun rock then this is it. Its Better than most of the disco crap hack punk that keeps coming out lately . P.I.L. may have done a very similar act 20 years earlier which means you should really check them out first. but whatever listen to what you want it would be cooler to keep up witht the new hip bands anyway right? Pitchfork may be sucking on these guys gonads for some reson im not sure why. maybe they are salty. but its better than !!! , bloc party or the bravery (yeesh!!) all lame and you would be kind of a tool for listening to any of those

72 minutes on 8 tracks/ very good song diversity.
This CD provides a unique opportunity to hear the authentic sounds of humpback whales. There is no background music, only whales. Includes the special, nearly 25 minutes, "One Humpback Whale", an excellent recording of a close whale, just a few hundred yards away, originally recorded on digital audio tape, giving the whale great presence and clarity.
Recorded near the Virgin Islands from a 13 foot inflatable boat, using a professional hydrophone.

Good for meditating or working in the basement. Also use it for going to sleep. Personally, don't appreciate it when driving, but HEY! Save the Whales. Collect the whole set!
great cd.......2007-01-04
I had been looking for whale songs for a while, and finally this cd filled my expectations. It is only natural whale voices, nothing more. Some of them give me a peculiar funny feeling, like if the whale were singing a joke, or laughing. Not for everyday, but I enjoy it once in a while.

Album Description
The mighty Deep Purple returns with a special edition 2-CD set of their newest studio album Rapture Of The Deep. The Mk 8 lineup of the band features Ian Gillan on vocals, Ian Paice on drums, bassist Roger Glover, guitarist Steve Morse and keyboardist Don Airey. Rapture Of The Deep promises the continued presence of one of history's biggest bands, now celebrating their 37th year with such tracks as "Back To Back", "Junkyard Blues", "Before Time Began" and "Wrong Man". On the second disc there is a new version of Clearly Quite Absurd, as well as live versions of some of Deep Purple's biggest hits, such as "Smoke on the Water" and "Highway Star", and two of Rapture of the Deep favorites: "Rapture of the Deep" and "Wrong Man".
Customer Reviews:
Very solid album. The stuff on the second CD is a really good value, too!.......2007-05-06
My review of the original version of the album:
I saw Deep Purple back in 1994 when Steve Morse had just joined the band (the gig I saw with him was his third ever). In that review, I wrote this.. "Very good concert by a band who surprised me. Well worth the long trip to see them, and I hope they continue." Boy have they continued, and they're like a good wine, they're getting better with age. Their last few albums havent' done well sales wise in the US, which is a damn crime.
Purpendicular was spectacular, one of the best of Purple's entire catalogue. Abandon I didn't care for, but some did. Bananas was a wonderful album, but I think suffered from the perception it got from its goofy title.
Rapture of the Deep is very much a traditional sounding Deep Purple album, and when I started writing this review, I planned on doing a track by track review of it, which is something I generally do. The problem I have is that the album is so universally solid, I'd end up saying most the same thing for every track. This is a great album from start to finish. Even the tracks that others feel are weak in some other reviews I've read I like. It's been said Ian Gillan isn't the screamer he used to be, and that's for sure. He can't wail like he could when he was in his 20's, but his "modern voice" fits the material perfectly. There's rockers, ballads, and everything in between. A great piece of modern music from one of the bands that defined hard rock. The lyrics in the song "MTV" are fairly amusing, and when I saw Purple turn up on Eddie Trunk's show on VH1 Classic, that's all I could think of. :)
You cannot go wrong with this album. Geezer rock be damned.
My review of the updated 2 CD version of the album:
An updated version of the album came out. It was a 2 CD version. Disc 1 is exactly the same as the original 2005 release. Disc 2 is "all new". This new version has 8 extra tracks. Most are live, but there's a few standouts. The standouts for the updated version are an alternate version of "Clearly Quite Absurd", and.. "The Well Dressed Guitar", which is a track I've been waiting on Deep Purple to release for some time now. Back before they released their last album (Bananas), I saw 'em live, and they played Well Dressed in concert, saying it was something they were working on for their next album. It was FABULOUS. I absolutely loved it. So I waited, and before Bananas came out, the space shuttle exploded. Because of that, Steve Morse wrote a song that appeared on Bananas called "Contact Lost". It bumped Well Dressed from the album. They said Well Dressed might turn up as a B Side or something, and it never did. So I hoped it would be on Rapture, and it wasn't. I had just a live bootleg mp3 of the track, which wasn't quite the same. Then I heard of this 2 CD Special Edition of Rapture of the Deep, and "Well Dressed" WAS on there - finally. As good as the main Rapture of the Deep album is, I think "The Well Dressed Guitar" is a track worth picking up the 2CD version of, even if you have the original - I feel it's that good. I will go so far as to say that "Well Dresses" is by far my favorite single track of the Steve Morse era, and Ian Gillan doesn't even sing on it. :)
If you don't have either version, get this one. As I write this in May of 2007, they're priced pretty much the same, so the 2CD version is a much better value anyway.
Deep Purple Rapture of the Deep.......2007-02-15
An outstanding musical effort from a group I have appreciated for over 30 years. I am amazed by their ability to blend the modern styles with their established trademark sound to create music that old and young can enjoy equally. Kudos to Deep Purple!
Loved it from the first spin..........2007-01-05
I hesitated to jump into this because of many other long-time fans' poor reviews. It seemed to be a love/hate sort of thing. Yes, the CD is a continued departure from the glory days with Blackmore back in 1972, but these are different men from the ones who recorded Machine Head and Made in Japan.
Yes, they're gramps with amps. No question about that, but, hey, my knees hurt, too, these days. As one of DP's long-time fans, I'm glad to say I did buy this CD and I have enjoyed it greatly.
If you're a fan of Blackmore and didn't enjoy Bolin or Morse's work with the band, this is not for you. Blackers still isn't in the band and probably won't be returning any time soon. Airey's work on the keyboards is often reminiscent of Lord's, but retains his own voice. Gillan's voice has aged, we all know that, so I'm listening more for the witty and wry lyrics, particularly on "MTV". Overall, I find it better than Bananas, but a cut under Purpendicular. Compared to the Mk2 releases, I find it has a feel closest to Fireball, and enjoy it very much.
Be sure to get this version, not the one-CD pressing. The extra tracks are a decided treat.
CLASSIC PURPLE.......2007-01-04
As a fan of Deep Purple since the early 70's. Deep Purple have always amazed me with their energy and drive to keep going.
Rapture Of The Deep Special Edition 2 CD set is no exemption. Admittedly
I did buy the original release which was a single disc and only the 10 tracks which I still think was great, but the extra's on this special edition is well worth the re-investment. The addional studio track on Disc 1 MTV is not one of the better tracks on the album but still a good listen.
The stand out tracks on Disc CD1 are; Wrong Man (The best on The Album), Clearly Quite Absurd, Rapture Of The Deep, Money Talks, Kiss Tommorrow Goodbye, Girls Like That.
The bonus Disc CD2 has a collection of live and different studio mixes.
The Live tracks were recorded at the Hard Rock Cafe' in London in October 2005, and include Rapture Of The Deep, Wrong Man, Highway Star, Smoke On The Water, and Perfect Strangers. All these live tracks and very well mixed and sound great. The other studio tracks include Clearly Quite Absurd (New Version), Things I Never Said, The Well Dressed Guitar (Studio Version).
If you love Deep Purple then you will not be disappointed with this purchase.
Play it LOUD!
Its difficult to review.......2006-11-12
Its difficult to review -- i really like DP since i was a child. There is a special feeling for this band. I cannot be objective judging a band that means a lot to me. I like the album. I know that maybe Gillan's voice is now a little weak, that Morse is different to Blackmore (note : Not best or worst, just different), that i miss Jon Lord a lot.. but it is still Deep Purple and i really like it. As i mentioned above : Cannot be objective. However, i recommend this album to everyone. "Rapture of the Deep" is one of the best song ever in the history of the band. I mean it. Highly recommended.

The "Essential" Purcell? Well, you could get a bunch of critics to argue about that for a few days, but in the meantime, here is a sampler of highlights from the King's Consort's three admirable Purcell series: the Complete Odes and Welcome Songs, Complete Anthems and Services, and Complete Secular Solo Songs. There are, of course, some of Purcell's most-performed pieces (which probably are "essential"): Dido's Lament from Dido and Aeneas, "Sound the trumpet" from Come, ye sons of Art, Rejoice in the Lord alway (the "Bell Anthem," named for the string figure at the opening that sounds like pealing bells), the gently patriotic "Fairest isle, all isles excelling" (sung by a miscast James Bowman), and a selection from the funeral music for Queen Mary. There are also some delightful surprises--particularly among the little-known secular songs and church music. The plaintive "O fair Cedaria" gets a lovely performance by Barbara Bonney (a singer not usually associated with Purcell); tenor Rogers Covey-Crump (possibly the ideal high tenor for Purcell) sings the enchanting "If music be the food of love"; the church anthems "Let mine eyes run down with tears" and "Remember not, O Lord, our offences" have some startling harmonies as daring as any Monteverdi ever wrote. If you're unfamiliar with Purcell, this reasonably priced disc is a good place to start exploring without a big initial investment. --Matthew Westphal

Mad about Baroque.......2007-02-12
This is a terrific CD. The music is breathtaking. Just buy IT !!!!!
The beauty of the songs brings tears to my eyes.......2002-08-21
Absolutely beautiful baroque music! The arrangament, singing and instrumentation is superb. It is too bad that Henry Purcell is not as widely known as Bach, because he should be recognized equally well."The Sparrow and the Gentle dove" is alone worth the price of the album! I can not stop playing it!
Brilliant.......2001-10-31
Like in his renditions of Handel's oratorios, Robert King manages to bring a freshness and strenght to Purcell's music that I had seldom heard before. This CD also features some of the best performers of early music in the world. My favourite tracks are Oh, Fair Cedaria, sung by the multi-talented Barbara Bonney; Dido's Lament from Dido and Aeneas, sung by Gillian Fisher; She Loves and she Confesses too, sung by the wonderful Susan Gritton; and Welcome, Welcome Glorious Morn, sung by Rogers Covey-Crump. The only track I didn't find absolutely wonderful is Fairest Isle, sung here by James Bowman. Don't get me wrong, I generally love Mr Bowman, I think that his performance in Mr Purcell's Most Admirable Composures (also conducted by Robert King) makes it another essential Purcell recording; but I find that Fairest Isle was much better done elsewhere, particularly by Christopher Hogwood and Barbara Bonney.
These songs aren't only beautiful, they're also poignant, sweet and unpretentious. I think that it will be very clear to anyone who listens to this recording that Mr Purcell was one of the finest composers that ever lived.
Be Welcome then, great Sirs (and Mesdames)........2001-10-20
If anyone has benefitted from the reversion in the last three or so decades to period instruments and historical reconstruction, it is Henry Purcell. Before, he was merely great, the peerless word-setter in the English language, a virtuoso of boundless range, a professional composer whose offical commissions were always imbued with personality and invention. But period instrumentation has added to this a greater depth, an other-worldly texture of sound. With his intricate, multi-part vocal writing, his preference for low, rumbling instruments such as the bass viol and the strange and remarkable theorbo, as well as his often sombre and low-key subject matter and treatment, Purcell creates a round, glowing, humming sound as pregnantly full as dub reggae.
This has an extraordinary effect on the listener. Whereas Bach, with his mathematical abstractions, sounds universal and timeless, Purcell's music takes the listener back 300 years, back to different ways of thinking about, feeling about and addressing things we still think etc. about today - death, love, friendship. The emotion is timeless, but the music's beauty is alien, THEIRS, hence its preciousness.
A lot of intelligence has gone into the unity of this compilation, beginning with two Welcomes (to the dawn and to the listener, in this case a King), and ending with thoughts of evening, death and a Baroque 'Thank you for the music'. These are bright, fanfare-like works, but the predominant mood is slow, ruminative, quiet. The selection covers the wide range of Purcell's oeuvre, from opera and funeral marches to secular songs and odes, and includes his most famous vocal works - Dido's Lament from Dido and Aeneas, sung by Gillian Fisher, and never more evocative of pagan loss and death; the massive 'Bell Anthem', with its ingenious opening symphony and joyful antiphon; and a miraculously serene 'Evening Hymn', Dido's opposite, death indicating hope, the treble voice swirling over the heavy ground bass like the soul released from the inert body.
it might seem quixotic to choose highlights from an exemplary collection of highlights, but the entry of the strings washing over the serene repetition of 'Be Welcome then, great Sir' always makes my heart stop still, while the musical picture of 'Bold Honour', the 'noisy Nothing, stalking shade', blocking the poet's amorous intentions in 'She loves and confesses too', adds a chilling hint of life's transience to a bouyantly bawdy song.
Brilliant Purcell Disc .......2000-11-30
With this album director and Purcell expert Robert King provides the listener with an excellent introduction to the composer's vocal works. The pieces presented here were taken from Mr. King's recordings of 'The Complete Odes and Welcome Songs', 'The Complete Anthems and Services', 'The Complete Secular Solo Songs' and diverse anthology discs. King, his wonderful soloists and musicians do the brilliance of Purcell's music fully justice. Whether he was commissioned by royalty, the church or theatre, Purcell shone in all areas. This disc certainly demonstrates the variety and originality of his craft, not to speak of his uncanny ability of setting words to music.
An outstanding Purcell offering. With a beautiful perfomance by Barbara Bonney of 'Oh, fair Cedaria'. Susan Gritton is equally captivating in 'She loves and she confesses too'. Gillian Fisher's rendition of the famous 'Dido's Lament' is haunting and poignant. Further an intelligent and brilliant 'Hosanna to the highest' by Michael George. James Bowman and Michael Chance sparkle in the countertenor duet 'Sound the trumpet' (from 'Come Ye sons of Art away'). And I should not forget to mention the joyous, luminous performance of the beautiful 'Bell Anthem'. To name but a few favourites, only James Bowman's 'Fairest Isle' was a disappointment.
Those who are familiar with Purcell's music will get an excellent disc with some of his most beloved works. If you are new to Purcell, this is, as already said a great introduction. Which might be the incentive to further explorations of Purcell.

More rocking of the house........2007-02-10
DP once had the record as being the loudest rock band in the world. You must hear them to believe them.
Mediocre at best.......2007-01-27
You'd expect something better from a band like Deep Purple, especially with the great Steve Morse, but alas, this album is no better than anything they put out since "Perfect Strangers". It's OK, but without that spark of originality that defined their earlier work... It's sort of like Genesis and their awful "I Cannot Dance" album. The well has ran dry I guess...
Enjoyed it from its first spin... but..........2007-01-05
Get the 2-CD bonus set instead. OK? Do that. I'll have more review over there. Suffice to say if you're a fan of Gillan lyrics and Morse hooks, you'll enjoy this CD.
As King's , Deep Purple are unbeatable.......2006-12-07
This is the best album DP do since Perfect Strangers, for me better than Purpendicular even though it goes in another direction (but if we had to somehow compare...). It really sounds fresh like a long jam session, giving all members the space to show their skills, and how they show man.. And analizing the work under this point of view, it really takes us to the glorious In Rock, Fireball and MH, which were, at their time, more or less the same: the result of a perfect chamestry between five talented guys doing their best and enjoying it. Only time has put them in perspective. I love this last album and it was a great great surprise for me to realize how healthy, alive and well the band is doing. I mean I love Bananas, as every other album, no exception, but the ROTD sounds so good and so Purple that, even it's structure may be easier and less risky than many others, it's an UNMISSABLE album, somehow playing as a link between the MH time and the PS (Money Talks's structure's not very different from the song "Perfect Strangers"). "Girls like that" has also a very similar construction to "69", from Abandon which is, after ROTD, the more DP's album they have released with Steve Morse. So, we have a band that just keeps getting better after every obstacle. After Blackmore's departure, they experimented with Purpendicular and then they got better (and more Purple) with Abandon; after Lord's departure, they experimented (and sounded) bananas only to get MUCH BETTER and MUCH PURPLE with ROTD. Don't know when/if they are going to slow down but they're absolutely unbeatable. All hail the Purple kings!!!
3,5 stars for hardrock veteran.......2006-11-07
the songs are different than the previous albums.
the vocals of Ian Gillan are modernized and he sounds very different than any other old songs we already have heard in the old classic Purple albums.
the band seems to change their music style drastically today. The hard hitting guitar-riff, drum beat and bass are typical old Purple musical tradition which integrate directly to the new fashion lyrics or songs.
check out the new songs like Back to black, money talks, rapture of the deep, wrong man, before the time began, junkyard blues are different than the older songs we knew.

My private jam!.......2005-09-08
This is the sound of south Florida, winter of 2002. I'm in a rented convertible, the night air is chilly, and I'm speeding on I-95, racing to get to mi amore...and this was on the stereo. This was always on the stereo back then. Miami's one good dance station went belly up earlier this year, so I don't get my nightly dose of Rapture. This vibe makes me want to dance the seven veils. Muy suave. I must buy this.
Tantric Pleasure.......2005-08-16
I returned recently to the dance/trance scene. I was listening to the popular dance/trance music played on my selected satellite radio station. I'm driving in my car with a fabulous sound system, when the station plays the Creamer & Stephanie K Remix version of Iio's Rapture. I was locked in. What a fabulous tantric version of this song. All of those looking for a little taste of heaven, try this one...
Clubmania!.......2003-01-01
Easily one of the most memorable and best dancetracks of 2002, Rapture is a semi-dreamy dance club smash that has taken the world by storm. Infectiously catchy, the song has a seminal trance feel to it and is laced by a seductive female vocal!

I LOVE THIS CD. THIS CD ISNT GREAT BUT IT IS OK. I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS CD IF YOU LOVE THE MISSISSIPPI MASS CHOIR. PEACE AND GOD BLESS YOU
great.......2005-02-25
This album is great, but I'm looking for a song that either the Mississippi childrens choir sung or Mississippi Mass Choir sung. I believe it goes: As I travel down lifes highway, of trials great and small, I often wonder to myself if the journey is worth it all. All the pain I must endure, sometimes its much to bare and the only thing that gives me strength, is knowing you really care, so let me take this time to say thankyou lord for every day how you love me and kept me as I travel along lifes way. Your the one who guides my footsteps along this narrow way, so we take this time to worship and to you oh lord we pray.(If anyone knows this sone, please email udeebear1984@yahoo.com! God Bless!
Truly enjoyable!.......2000-07-25
I've had this CD for a couple years now. My favorite song is Keep Oil in Your Lamp. An awesome song! This CD is a definite must for your gospel music collection.
JESUS paid it all!.......2000-02-13
Jesus paid it all is the song of the century! Why? Because it tells and sings forth the truth of the word of God. This album has the anointing of the Holy Ghost on it like fire! It's almost like stepping into the gates of Heaven and dancing in the presence of God. His presence is sooo awesome and wonderful, and singing in his presence is a priveledge, not a right. God is so holy and just, and this album rightly expresses his goodness.
