Poison greatest hits combo.......2006-11-07

Poison's original greatest hits cd is a great cd packed with classic songs
from there first 5 albums.The geatest video hits dvd is all of poison's videos on one dvd.
The dvd wasn't released at the same time as the cd, it was released after Crack a smile and the Power to the people albums and includes a video from the Power to the people album aswell, but unfortunatley no videos were ever made for Crack a smile.
THE DVD IS AWESOME.

Poison's Greatest Hits (1996.) Poison's first hits compilation.

When one thinks of the eighties hair metal movement, there's usually one band that will stand out in their mind above all others - a little foursome called Poison. The glam metal genre had a number of players, but these guys stood out above all others. They had the teary-eyed ballads that won the women over, but their rockers were fast and heavy enough to earn them a place in the heart of every male fan of the genre. TO PUT IT SIMPLY, IT'S THESE GUYS THAT MADE METAL SO SUCCESSFUL AS A GENRE! Bret Michaels, Bobby Dall, C.C. Deville, and Rikki Rockett weren't just another metal band - they were THE metal band! And in 1996, the band released a retrospective of its career to the point. Read on for my review of Poison's Greatest Hits - 1986-1996.

PROS:
-If you're the casual Poison fan who doesn't want to shell out cash for every album, this compilation WILL NOT DISAPPOINT! You get just about all the big hits - I Want Action, I Won't Forget You, Fallen Angel, Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Nothin' But A Good Time, Life Goes On, Unskinny Bop, and many more!
-This compilation doesn't just rely on the hits. There is even a track from the short-lived (one album) Ritchie Kotzen era called Stand. For those of you not familiar with the band, Kotzen replaced Deville on guitar because he was becoming increasingly unstable, but Kotzen had an affair with Rockett's wife, and was IMMEDIATELY expelled from the band.
-You get two all new recordings! Every band's greatest hits compilation needs some bonus tracks, and this one serves up two excellent ones!
-The compilation is VERY affordable.
-Most stores carry this compilation, so you shouldn't have to look too hard for it.
-NOT ONE SONG IS EDITED! Many hits compilations feature edited versions of some songs just so they can squeeze in a few more tracks - but that sure as hell ain't true here!
-The booklet is VERY nice, in that it contains notes by the band about EVERY song featured on the compilation! THIS is the kind of booklet EVERY hits compilation needs!

CONS:
-The most frequent complaint I hear about this compilation is one that I can relate to - the band's hard-to-find cover of the KISS classic Rock And Roll All Nite isn't on here! Had that been on here I would probably have given this five stars.
-THE SONGS AREN'T IN RELEASE ORDER! Would someone mind telling me why hits compilations have to scatter the songs across the disc with no running order in mind?
-No lyrics.
-The compilation has NOTHING past 1996.

OVERALL:
This is a GREAT compilation, even if it has a few problems. The band recently released a new compilation entitled Best Of The Ballads And Blues - DO NOT BUY IT! BUY THIS ONE INSTEAD, SINCE THE NEW COMPILATION OFFERS NOTHING BUT WHAT IT SAYS IT DOES. Poison was the ultimate glam metal band, and this compilation proves that point multiple times.

this CD/DVD Combo is so very awesome. Not only do listeners get the CD full of greatest hits, they also get the DVD with 17 of Poison's greatest Music Videos. some of the priceless gems on this are "Unskinny Bop" "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" "Something To Believe In" and "Your Mama Don't Dance".
the DVD also features behind the scenes looks at the videos and interviews with heartthrob Bret Michaels.
With the hits that are on this CD/DVD Combo, its a definite necessity for any Poison, 80's, or Metal Hair Band fan.
The booklet contains written comentary on each song about inspiration for a title, hard times for individual members, you name it, its most likely there.
again this CD/DVD Combo is a definite must for any collection
