3 out of 5 stars Luda & DTP.......2007-01-19

I originally bought the CD only for one song and the rest of the songs were ok. This was my first time buying one from DTP and I was a little disappointed. It was ok.

4 out of 5 stars Ausar007.......2006-12-31

This album was surprising, i like everything on the album especially DTP and their Voice. It was deep and grabbing, and to me it made me feel like going back to Georgia with Ray Charles original song "Georgia". The Rhymes and style of luda remind me of Pac. The title "2 miles an hour" is hit!!!, what a saying!!! "going two miles an hour so everybody could see me". And of course i had to add mines in by saying going two miles an hour on my scooter. I can't forget "Put your hands up", It's smash at the Nightclubs and with the ladies. My expectations before buying this album was Some cool skits even though there was only one skit by ludacris it's still one of my favorite albums.

3 out of 5 stars Fianlly... Field Mob gets their shine.......2006-07-04

As far as the album goes it's good it can use some tweaks, but it's a step in the right direction what i do find extremely pleasurable is the fact that Field Mob finally get their shine they did they thing and finally got the recognizition they deserve this has been one of best duos to never get the fruits of their labor what make it bad is you've probably heard them before and never realized it now that they have an audience they bout to BLOW!!!!! You listen to them and it's like the oldies on a Sunday afternoon anyway i've digressed just wanted to say I am excited to learn that now Field Mob will get an opportunity that they earned.....To get they swagger on.

2 out of 5 stars What happned Luda?.......2006-06-08

I liked his first couple of albums, they were funny, creative, and displayed luda's real talent. While this CD has luda on it, it has more of the other performers, and none of them are even near luda in terms of talent. Luda is pretty funny on this album, but it seems that his last couple of cds have been getting worse and worse. If you really like ludacris, then get "Word of Mouf" or "Back for the First Time". If you absolutely love those albums, then get this one and his other two. If you just find them decent, then stop right there.

5 out of 5 stars What An Album!!! Ludacris and DTP are the best!!!.......2006-04-22

I got one word... amazing. I'm a die hard fan of Ludacris. He is the real King of the Dirty South. His crazy flow and witty rhymes have no match, if you have gotten all of his CDs, you know what I'm talking about, he's unstoppable. You can't deny it. This album was one of the best for DTP. Better than the last one. Luda reps the dirty dirty and gives an awesome performance and so does the whole DTP Roster. These are some of the songs that stood out to me:

- "Georgia" - Classic, Ludacris, Field Mob and Jamm. did an awesome jod. They all flow amazingly

- "Put Yo Hands Up" - Upcoming group Norcflk is doing it big with this track.

- "Gettin Some" - Shawnna goes crazy. Beautiful

- "Thats My S***" - I like to call this one the lyrical bomb. Nothing but fast, clever rhymes from the roster.

- "Come and See Me" - Smoke and Stat Quoe flow really well here

- "Break A Ni*ga Off" - Lil' Fate gets his, with the help of Rich Boy and Gangsta Boo

..... I could keep going.. you know that right. All of the tracks are incredible. Get the CD. DTP 4 Life!!!!

Amazon.com

Like Eminem and Busta Rhymes before him, Ludacris with Golden Grain uses his popularity to kick-start the careers of his Hot 'Lanta homies. While this a noble gesture, emcees like the gruff-voiced I-20, Tity Boi, or Lil' Fate are much less talented than their potty-mouthed leader. Certainly, the "Growing Pains" remix, featuring Def Jam South shot-caller Scarface and his profound coming-of-age observations about growing up down South, demonstrates the lyrical chemistry the crew is capable of (although the utilization of that overused Staple Singers "Let's Do It Again" sample is questionable). Still, on "Break Sumthin'" the crew touts the merits of their riotous upbringing over minimalist bass-driven beats (Ludacris notes that "it's so shady / my ol' lady gotta keep a couple guns"), making you crave more seasoned meditations on country living from groups such as Nappy Roots. Sure, this compilation boasts a wider range of subject matter than your typical Ludacris album (where tales of ho's and alcohol join tales of carnage and weed), but perhaps he should have left the homies at home. --Dalton Higgins

1 out of 5 stars Disturbing the Ears.......2005-06-26

Hey Amazon is there any way to give out 0 stars? E-mail me and let me know. This album is very dissapointing, sort of like when Tyson lossed to Lenox Lewis. You want to root for DTP on this one but it just doesnt work. Luda's crew give a whole new meaning to waste of space. It's a shame when the best performance on the album is a outside guest(Twista). This is coming from a Ludacris fan. I think that DTP sound decent on all other Ludacris projects but not this. Ludacris threw them in the water to swim and you know what they say about black people, we cant swim. So there you have it. Golden Grain gets a big Golden Shower from Dooky breath.

4 out of 5 stars Disturbing Tha Peace - Golden Grain.......2005-02-20

After releasing two successful solo albums, in 2002, Ludacris brings his crew into the rap game with their first group album, "Golden Grain."

1. Break Sumthin' (Featuring Ludacris, Shawnna, Lil' Fate, T*** Boi, & I-20 - Terrible beat, Everyone comes pretty good but I-20's voice sounds terrible at the beginning of his verse, Luda does the hook which is real hardcore - 3.5/5

2. Growing Pains (Do It Again) [Remix] (Featuring Lil' Fate, Shawnna, Ludacris, Scarface, & Keon Bryce) - Good beat, Lil' Fates and Ludas verses are the same from the original track, Face and Shawnna come nice, hook is great - 5/5

3. Posted (Featuring Shawnna) - Nice beat, Shawnna comes real hard, hook is good - 4.5/5

4. Smokin' Dro (Featuring T*** Boi, I-20, & Ludacris) - Terrible beat, everyone comes nice on their verses, I-20 does an alright hook - 3.5/5

5. Big Chain Records (Skit)

6. Pimp Council (Featuirng Lil' Fate, Ludacris, Shawnna, & Too Short) - Decent beat, Fate, Shawnna, and Luda come good on this track, Too Short does the skit between the verses...there is no hook...kinda reminds me of N.W.A's "F*** Tha Police" courthouse skit - 3/5

7. Play Pen to the State Pen (Featuring T*** Boi & Dolla Boy) - Bangin beat, Dolla Boy and T*** Boi come nice, hook is real hard - 5/5

8. R.P.M. (Featuring Shawnna, Twista, & Ludacris) - Good beat, Shawnna and Twista terrorize the beat, Luda comes hard on the hook - 4.5/5

9. Can't Be Stopped (I Know) (Featuring I-20) - Good beat, I-20 comes real nice, hook is alright...nothing special - 3.5/5

10. Behind the Chain (Skit)

11. A-Town Hatz (Featuring Lil' Fate, T*** Boi, I-20, & Chemimere) - Nice beat, Everyone comes pretty decent, hook is annoying - 3/5

12. N.S.E.W. (Featuring Shawnna, T*** Boi, I-20, & Lil' Fate) - Bangin beat, Everyone comes real nice, hook isn't nothing spectacular but its good - 4.5/5

13. When I Touch Down (Featuring Lil' Fate & Jazze Pha) - Good beat, Lil' Fate spits good, hook is good - 4/5

14. Outro on Ya A** (Featuring I-20, T*** Boi, Lil' Fate, & Ludacris) - Good beat, everyone comes pretty good, there is no hook - 4/5

15. Move B**** [Bonus Track] (Featuring Ludacris, Mystikal, & I-20) - Good beat, Luda, Mystikal, and I-20 rip it, hook is great - 5/5

Overall: 53/65

4 Stars

Even though this album didn't fully meet my expectations, it's still an almost solid debut. Luda and Shawnna stick out from the rest of the DTP members but everyone gets their turn to shine. Pick it up if your a fan of Luda or the Dirty South.

4 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2003-07-20

this is definitly one of the greatest CD's in my collection, and if u buy it (which you should), it will be one of your favorites as well. My favorite song has to be R.P.M. ft. shawna and twista. This song has a nice fast past to it that u are sure to love. This CD wasn't as good as Word of Mouf, but still a great Cd by itself.

1 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE.......2003-05-31

this album [is bad], the only good thing about it is the HILARIOUS Big Chain records skit. Horrible

2 out of 5 stars DTP: Disappointing, Terrible, and Pathetic.......2003-05-27

The DTP Golden Grain album was a huge disappointment. After hearing Luda's Back for the First Time and Word of Mouf I thought this album was garbage.Yeah there are a few good tracks such as R.P.M. and The Growing Pains RMX but 85% of the songs on here are just throwaway tracks. They put Move B**** on here as a bonus track but who needs that when it was already on Word of Mouf.I listened to the album in its entirety and I wanted to like it but I mostly despised it. I'm ready for the new Ludacris album to be released though which will definatley surpass this disaster.

2 out of 5 stars Hate to give this such a bad review.......2007-01-10

I'm a big Graham Bonnet fan and as a guitarist, I love Steve Vai. However, this is just a mediocre album. Not one song stands out, including the opener "God Blessed Video", which got some airplay on MTV. It's a decent song, but nothing memorable. Track #5, "Desert Diamond" is an attempt at an epic piece, but is just missing something. It could have been special. You could listen to this entire album and not have one melody stuck in your head. On the positive side, Graham Bonnet sounds great, and Steve Vai has a few good solos. However, the previous Alcatrazz album with Yngwie blows this away.

    Best song: 5. Desert Diamond

5 out of 5 stars The band got better without Yngwie.......2006-03-26

There is an album missing here. The studio album with steve vai called "dangerous moves" or something like that. I'm a big Malmsteen fan, but I found that Alcatrazz is better without him. Steve Vai, though not even trying to capture what Malmsteen so perfectly displayed on stage, does what he came to do and the band just shines and shines. It's another magic moment in the dawn of heavy metal. Who says lightning doesn't strike twice in the same band?

4 out of 5 stars Bonnet's Track Record Looks Like A Best Of List???.......2005-04-17

Okay, being a geek extraordinaire, Graham Bonnet has played with Blackmore, Michael Schenker, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, and now, Stevie Vai. What is the deal? Can anyone guess? Well, after The Ynger bailed out of Alcatrazz to absorb himself and his inflating ego into a mediocre solor career (and a really cool heroin habit) in walks former Frank Zappa guitarist, Steve Vai. Now Alcatrazz goes off on a different direction, perhaps they were thinking they sounded more commercial and would be successful where the Yngwie-driven unit faltered. Not so. They remained obscure even with the bad MTV video for God Blessed Video. Horrors continue to unfold . . . Anyway. Here we have a long since out-of-print gem with Stevie Vai showing his prowess in the guitar seat. Lighter Shade of Green is great! Mercy. Stripper. Wire and Wood. All in all this is an off balanced record due to the fact that you have another great guitar player in a thown-together band. Never gonna work. In walks Danny Johnson.....

4 out of 5 stars Not perfect but..........2005-04-03

Five stars if the lyrics weren't in need of some improvement; but this disc rocks. Malmsteen had the chops but the songwriting and musicianship seems more all of a piece here.

Rumor has it Vai has his own mix of the masters. THIS I want to hear.

    2 out of 5 stars steve vai's songwriting limitations.......2005-02-18

Unfortunately after yngwie j.malmsteen's departure from alcatrazz band ,(for a mediocre solo career),steve vai came in yngwie place. And i said unfortunately because this record was
a commercial disaster.Besides the great songs"stripper" and "painted lover" all the other songs are mediocrities.
"Disturbing the peace" was an experimental album that also displayed steve vai's songwriting limitations.
Although larynx acrobat graham bonnet do almost his best with his supreme voice in order to save the album,"disturbing the peace" was a commercial flop.

The second album by this Californian jump-blues band is a typical set of a humorous mixture of blues, R&B and rock'n'roll. Don't expect belly-laughs though, the humour in their original tunes is rather satirical in style. Besides, they're not jokers, these guys can really play ! The average listener may not need more than one album by this band, but this CD is as good as any they have released on the Alligator-label. Dedicated fans will definitely not want to miss out on this one !

        5 out of 5 stars very good.......2006-04-28

this is a very good album from tha DTP fam. the only problem is the videos are edited....whic is gay as FUCC. i mean people should be able to watch music videos(when u buy them on dvd) in their entirety. anyways, i recommend this cd to people who like Luda, DTP or just good ol rap for that matter

        5 out of 5 stars THAT'S MY S*IT.......2006-02-22

THE BEST FINISHING ALBUM OF '05!!! Luda really got his crew together on this C.D. for a great complition. Georgia was a great start with the new improved Field Mob, how kinda fell off since 2001, then Norfclk came in with Put Your Hands, which had an effrotless sounding hook, then Shawwna's long awiated new single Gettin Some, then the hystrical Come and See Me with Smoke and featuring my man Stat Quo, how could've done better byt still deliverd. Break a N**ga Off with Lil Fate Rich Boy and Gangsta Boo, I'll be Around with tha soul of DTP Shareefa who does a great job on this song, Sweet Revenge, which didn't sound like Luda's style but still killed it, Dtp for Life with Ludacris, Lil Fate and I-20(great diss to Chingy by the way)Two Miles an hour RMX with Playz Circle with killed this track. Table Dance with Bobby Valintino Lil Fate and Smoke, THAT's MY S*IT my faviort songon the album, You Ain't Got Enough with I-20 and Playaz Circle with a good track, Family Affair that got everyone on the track except Bobby and Lazy Eye. then Finally Blood in the Air with a great Rock/rap Callbo with Rockband Lazteye and Smallworld and Shawn Jay for the Finnaly. Chingy sould've never left cause now the washed up hasbeen is gettin his with great dissis on this album/Watch the camilion paint flop like Chigy's last album/ was my faviort, This was a big improvement from Golden Grain with new faces shining and a whole new year for the DTP. LIL Fate drop your album already, god you've only been in the game for 5 YEARS get of you lazy a$$ and use your talent. Look out for Light Poles and Pine Trees from Field Mob and I-20's album and playaz Cicle dropin trier album soon too. Till next time PEACE.

        5 out of 5 stars Bangin CD.......2006-02-19

this was hella mean CD, but I think there should've been atleast one more track from Lazyeye, DTP keep doin ya thang

        5 out of 5 stars we ain't playin witcha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-01-04

i'm the cookie monster, from sesame street, wit big yella birds for sale ya need chicks!,servin mo o's than omarion & b2k. "cause we got it, blocks like lego, white like mayo, pills in all flavors come taste the rainbow, i count wit a unit of g's 50 deep wit bank rolls of bucks in da game dealin yayo". that ish was funny. one of the funniest verses i heard in a while. couldnt stop laughin. overall excellent CD & DVD combo. i pre-ordered it from bestbuy and got a limited edition dtp t-shirt, which was very good also. (...)this cd/dvd/t-shirt combo was a very good deal. the cd is fire. all are good but the best tracks are(in no order)georgia, gettin some, come see me, table dance, & family affair(dtp artists get to shine on this one)dtp for life, & two miles an hour remix. to be honest stat quo's verse really was'nt needed in the track come see me(not taking anything away from him)but it did'nt fit & field mob could of easily killed that track by themselfs. the dvd is really good to. it has a good dtp documentary, the making of the georia music video, the videos for georgia, two miles an hour, family affair, & my angel(bobby valentino's video), a red light district dvd teaser trailer, & a photo gallery. exellent quality. very well done & put together. well done dtp. keep up the good work. dtp for life. (P.S.) ludacris/dtp/bobby valetino, please make video's for "come see me" & "table dance". that would be awsome. peace out.

5 out of 5 stars The best compilation CDs this year.......2005-12-31

This is one of the best CDs I bought this year. I'm still anticipating Luda and Field Mob's next CDs but this'll satisfy me until then. Anyway, here are my opinions of all the songs:

        1. Intro- Luda does the intro.
        2. Georgia - The first single off the album featuring Luda, Field Mob and Jamie Foxx. One of my main favorites.
        3. Put Ya Hands Up- One of my favorites done by Norcfolk.
        4. Word on the Street- Talks about the album, makes fun of Chingy and introduces the next song.
        5. Gettin' Some - Pretty good solo by Shawnna.
        6. Come See Me - A solo by Smoke of Field Mob featuring Stat Quo. Loved this song.
        7. Break a Ni**a Off - One of my favorites done by Lil' Fate (when's this fool gonna drop a album?) featuring Rich Boy and Gangsta Boo.
        8. Skit- Didn't really get this skit.
        9. I'll Be Around - Enjoyed this song.
        10. Sweet Revenge - My favorite song on the album. Luda talks about satisfying ladies who's mans can't.
        11. DTP for Life - My least favorite song. Hated the damn hook.
        12. Two Miles an Hour [Remix] - One of my favorites on the album. Remixed one of my favorite songs off the Red Light District and added Playaz Circle, which was straight up hot.
        13. Table Dance - Defineatly a grown & sexy song. Features Smoke of Field Mob and Lil Fate and was pretty good.
        14. That's My Sh*T - Another one of my favorites
        15. You Ain't Got Enough - Playaz Circle did aight on this song. Wasn't bad but could've been better
        16. Family Affair - One of my favorites and one of the best songs on the album
        17. Blood in the Air- A bonus song featuring Shawn Jay of Field Mob and I-20 that was surprisingly good
