Customer Reviews:
The Ultimate SFU Collection!!!.......2007-06-12
SFU-A Decade In The Grave is hands down the best Death Metal boxset ever released in my humble opinion. It comes with everything that a band SHOULD include after a decade of making albums and touring. I love the giant poster and the full color booklet with the band history and the photos. This booklet is an excellent piece of work.
Now, onto the 2 best of cd's. I have never been a fan of best of cd's, because i'd rather just hear the entire album then just a few tracks off of each cd,but these best of cd's are great! I love how they tracked these. Usually, bands release best of cd's in chronological order, but on here the tracks are mixed, which I think was an awesome idea. I absolutely love these best of cd's! The way they flow together just makes me want to listen to them over and over again.
The unreleased Live Maximum Violence cd is nice to hear too. I'm a fan of live music when it sounds half decent and this recording sounds pretty good.
The Dvd has all of their videos that were released up to 2005 and with them being censored, it doen't really bother me,b/c I own and listen to all the cd's. Yes, it would be great if they weren't censored but I am glad that I get to watch them. The Murdered In Berlin is an awesome concert with superb sound quality.
All in all this is the most complete Death Metal boxset that's been released yet. I was already a huge SFU fan, and this boxset made me get into them even more. Highly recommended if you even remotely like SFU...b/c this boxset will probably convert you into a believer!
Decent overview if you're a one-stop shopper, otherwise select with care.......2006-09-02
Some stats: Six Feet Under 'A Decade in the Grave' box set
CD#1= 14 tracks TT= 46:37 (best of)
CD#2= 14 tracks TT= 46:10 (best of)
CD#3= 16 tracks TT= 52:13 (rare,live,unreleased)
CD#4= 9 tracks TT= 35:04 (early demo stuff from Leviathan)
DVD#5= assorted video frm concerts, etc (sizeable number of tracks)
extras= poster; sticker; trading cards; booklet; box format
I won't go on here about the debate (for some) on the merits of 6FTU and wether Chris Barnes still deserves the accolades he previously inherited with Cannibal Corpse.
Suffice it to say that this is a very nice packaged box set. My only gripe is the overall length of 3 of the 4 cds. I'd of hoped for @60 min a disk (like with the Cannibal Corpse Box Set, a better purchase overall). Several tracks are repeated in one form or another on the DVD.
Though the length of CD#4 is short, there was only so much material from the vaults they could find from Chris Barnes' early work with Leviathan. I can understand that. Even though Leviathan is abit different than SFU, the music is'nt bad sounding at all (though generic) for a band in their mid-teens...and certainly has a historical connection (perhaps only that).
As for the extras: the poster is cool (same one as that featured pix on box itself). The sticker is vinyl, circular, with the reversed 6 swirl logo...nice. The booklet (which devotes several pages to Leviathan lyrics) could have less pix of the band scowling (looks like all shot at same session,no variety) and more info, wether lyrics or "real" bio.
The 4 trading cards are stupid, say virtually nothing, and at the age of 54 just what and the hell am I suppose to do with em, trade?? These cards each feature a band member (scowling of course) and dopey facts. Something you'd get ina cereal box. Curiously, under the birthdate of each it says "unknown". Can't even get the facts on that. Give me a break.
One peculiar observation of mine concerning DEATH Metal in general. Many of the artists who typify this genre disconnect themselves from their overall brutal and morbid "creations" by saying it's just entertainment and not to be taken seriously.
Ironic that in the Death Metal music world today I sense a certain "PC"-ism intruding itself into some of the lyrics. I understand that even Death Metal is not immune to socio-political lyrics, it just seems peculiar to me that if and when a position is taken it tends to be from the same political persuasion (ie LEFT)... more 'egalitarian' or "why can't we just get along" kind....unless of course its thrashing authority, capitalism, pro-West, Bush, etc et al. I just wish certain musicians would rise beyond this petty symbolistic trap.
Now, in lieu of a controversial War, this moral posturing in DM music (hint of irony here) is the epitome of the poseur.
With SO MUCH emphasis on killing-gore-mutilation-mayhem etc, what's with this insipid Morality [...]? As far as DEATH METAL goes please check your humanity at the door.

badass.......2006-03-04
This box set has almost everything good by Six Feet in it. It's probly one of the most complete box sets I have ever seen.
YOU GOTTA LOVE THEM!!.......2006-01-14
SFU is one of the best bands in this genre, I bought Warpath about 8 Years ago and to be honest I've been a fan ever since, and this boxset is just plain awsome, groups like this are out to please fans, maybe cause there are fewer of us but hey, groups like this are still around while other mainstream one hit wonders have long since turned to dust, maybe it's the talent....which is what this group is all about from riffs to songwriting, they're over the top!!
Chirs Barnes srikes again........2005-11-12
I thought this was an awesome boxset. It came with 4 cds and 1 dvd. Two of the cds are greatest hits, the third one is a rarity collection, and the fourth disk is demo's from around 1985. The dvd I thought was well done. There's about 8 or 9 music videos. They do censor out the bad words though. In a review by another person they said that the music stopped when a bad word was said. That's not true. That only happend in one of the videos. The other one's they just scratch out the middle of the word. There's also around 11 or 12 live videos mostly from Berlin. These are not censored. This is pretty cool because you can listen to these songs the way their meant to be. The box set comes with a pretty big poster which looks like the front cover which is kick ass. It comes with some trading cards with a picture and info about everyone in the band. It comes with a pretty cool sticker and a 30 page coler booklet with pictures and lyrics. The box set folds out nicely also. All in all I thought it was worth my $45.00. If your a fan of the band, definitly check this out.
