4 out of 5 stars Nailing my eyes to the knowledge tree.......2006-11-12

Premonitions Of War definitely aren't paving their own way in the metal scene. Honestly though, that seems to suit them fine. The vocals are gut wrenching and the band actually sounds really good throughout, they rarely experiment with solos and what-not though which would've helped out the overall product. For all that Premonitions Of War are, they don't disappoint but they don't surprise either. There's no punches pulled here, expect riff after monsterous riff, double bass drumming, unintelligible lyrics, and crazy vocals. If that's what you're in need of, then look no further than Glorified Dirt/The True Face Of Panic.

I know The True Face Of Panic is a completely separate CD but I don't know if Glorified Dirt is maybe B-sides of the True Face... sessions or what, whatever the case, I tend to lean more towards the Glorified Dirt portion of the CD. Time For Iron in particular does act as the highlight for me. It's not heavy per say, but the vocals are intense and there's a good muddy quality to it. Other than that, the title track, The True Face Of Panic, is a scorching track that doesn't let up. Glorified Dirt has a great intro which leads into some more scathing riffs. Correspondences has a memorable riff through the verses which match the intensity of the vocals. Hanging Man has some machine gun riffs and we hear the vocals as clearly as we will the entire CD.

Premonitions Of War does kind of feel like a trend band, but what a trend band they are. I probably will find myself searching for more material from them in the future and waiting to see if they'll release a new CD or not. So if you're looking for some outright heavy, no punches pulled, music, Glorified Dirt/The True Face Of Panic will surely suit your every need.
