With songs penned by Mötley Crüe, Chuck Berry, R. Kelly, Spade Cooley, Ike Turner, and Gary Glitter, Shivaree's notion of what comprises a gorgeous album of love songs is radically different than Frank Sinatra's or Tony Bennett's. But vocalist Ambrosia Parsley--the Air America network's singing newswoman--is nearly as distinctive a stylist, with a sweet breathy timbre that coats lyrics with fragility, wanting, innocence, or wickedness at whim. That plus Shivaree's textural command make their fourth album more interpretive than a mere collection of covers. A growling industrial-punk treatment pushes the pedal down on Berry's "I Wanna Be Your Driver," and Parsley's warm cooing is the wanton, feminine flip side of Kelly's machismo in "Half on a Baby." Some of the best tunes, like Tanya Tucker's 1974 hit "Would You Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone)," undergo otherworldly transformations worthy of Ennio Morricone via Shivaree's taste for colorful electronics. And others, like Glitter's "Hello! Hello! I'm Back Again," stay closer to text. But Shivaree are best when they're surprising, and the cocktail lounge arrangement of the Crüe's "Looks That Kill" and the New Orleans-brass-band-from-Saturn treatment of Ike Turner's "My Heart Belongs to You" are entrancing and utterly inspired. --Ted Drozdowski
Album Description
What's love got to do with Phil Spector, Rick James, Michael Jackson or Gary Glitter? Shivaree attempts to mount this riddle in a fractured look beneath the covers and through the keyhole of some of true Rock n' Roll legends, interpreting the songs of these and many more controversial greats on Tainted Love: Mating Calls and Fight Songs. In the words of lead singer/headmistress Ambrosia Parsley, "Rock and Roll may save your soul, but a good man is truly hard to find." Shivaree's twisted, biting cabaret pop has been featured everywhere from Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill to Air America Radio (who employed Parsley to encapsulate each week's news in song form). Have a listen to what the fuss is all about.

When the moon is full, would you lay with me?.......2007-07-31
Michael Jackson. Chuck Berry. R Kelly. Lead Belly. Motley Crue. Tanya Tucker.
No, "Greensleeves" is not included on "Tainted Love: Mating Calls & Fight Songs." Shivaree's fourth full-length album is, simply put, a collection of love (and lust) songs, which they reimagine as sensual jazzy ballads and gritty, sexy indiepop -- lots of ringing riffs and slinky keyboard.
It opens on a surprisingly sparkly note: "There is a land I know/Where lovers go and flowers grow... Where time is standing still/And lovers fill the quiet places/By the shore," Ambrosia Parsley croons happily, over a twinkly, trumpeting folky melody, telling us about this mythical lovers' land full of rainbows, flamingos and castles. Someone get me a map.
Tempos switch rapidly for the second song, a cover of Berry's "I Wanna Be Your Driver," a sexy indie-rocker ("I've never had the thrill of riding/Such a wonderful machine") full of fuzz, sizzly guitar, and retro keyboard. The songs that follow vary almost as much -- slow mellow ballads, rattly funk, spluttering ambient rock, swooning keyboard pop, kooky hornpop, and a grinding cover of Rick James' "Cold Blooded."
I have to say, I haven't got the faintest idea how they selected these songs -- perhaps Shivaree just selected the sexiest and/or sweetest songs they could find. But they fit surprisingly well into all the different styles they try out -- about half are jazzy, pop or slow, and the other half tend to be poppier, funkier and more uptempo.
The slower ones tend to have gentle ringing guitars, while "Cold Blooded" and "I Wanna Be Your Driver" has blazing, classic riffs, along with some smashing jazzy drums and layers of fuz. And virtually all the songs are draped in heavy layers of synth, ending up in slow swirls, colourful squiggles, or stretches of retro keyboard.
And the music gets plenty of other sounds -- horns, trumpets, accordions, mellow strings, tambourine, and xylophone. "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" is almost drowned in samples, rattles, rustling, and tribal drums.
Shivaree didn't write any of the songs on this album, but they do have good taste -- the songs are full of passionate love ("Will you still love me/When i'm down and out?") and sexy odes ("She's gonna turn on your juice, boy"). Parsley's voice sounds a bit crackly here, but she molds her strong, sharp voice into whatever vocals match the song.
"Tainted Love: Mating Calls & Fight Songs" is an ideal title for this song, full of fast-driving sex and devoted loves. A colourful album, full of musical variety.

Must own this album!.......2007-02-21
I am a fan of Ben Harpers. Have been since the '90's. I love his vision of music. His soulful vocals. The lyrics of this cd and the energy that went into it, make it my favorite all time of his albums. I even own his newer ones, they still do not compare. This is where it all started....
Excuse Me, Mister... This Is a Great CD.......2006-08-20
This terrific project's songs are nimble, soulful, catchy, and meaningful. I've heard Harper's entire (sometimes uneven) catalog, and this is his most inspired work.
Another solid..........2006-07-25
This is a solid record glad I picked it up. Probably the best all around of Ben Harpers.
Wow...just wow........2006-03-21
Ben can say so much in just one word. The tracks are mostly deep acoustic that you can jam along to.
If You only buy one "Ben Harper" album.......(buy This!!).......2005-01-27
For an artist such as Ben Harper, who's reflective blend of acoustic soul & organic stripped down blues and R&B, coupled with his emotional singer/songwriter approach gave his debut album "Welcome to the Cruel World" a great starting point, for those tired of music lacking any intellectual content. But it was this, his fiery politicised second album "Fight for your mind", that he was to truly make his mark on the musical landscape.
This is a intimate and deeply introspective record, that not only looks inwards, but frequently looks at the world from the perspective of a enraged musical poet (Harper's influences such as: Dylan, Hendrix, Bob Marley, are clear to see). Because for a track like "Another Lonely Day" which is largely minimal in its instrumentation, and relies mostly on Ben's soul-folk singing to carry the emotional impact of this song, (think stripped back folk, with some lovely slide guitar), it went some way to prove that Ben wanted people to hear what he had to say, rather than just purely focus on the music.
"Burn one Down" which is actually a Pro-weed song, with Harper brazenly declaring ""if you don't like my fire, then don't come around, yes I'm gonna burn one down.", shows that Ben like the protest songs of someone like Dylan, many years before him for instance, hasn't shy-ed away from controversial subject matters.
"Ground on Down" is unquestionably my favourite track, Ben hooks up the electric guitar for a occasionally feedback drenched throwdown, that has more place on a rock album, such is its explosive energy, with Harper assuming the lyrical stance of a righteous commentator over the energetic guitar that is probably the nearest he's come to sounding like an infuriated Jimi Hendrix, in this insistent, almost slightly aggressive rock-out.
There is an undeniable sense of Harper wanting to get a lot of his chest, as quite of few of the songs deal with social/racial injustice to some degree, as "Fight For your Mind" & "Oppression" immediately spring to mind, with unsettling guitar tones which range from poignant one minute, to curiously uplifting the next. Although none of this would mean anything without some inspired writing by Harper, that easily surpasses his debut in structure and musical dynamics. In fact Ben would never truly match (much less surpass what was achieved here), this level of articulation and poetic lyrical content, although with impressively strong musical arrangements.
If your looking for a Ben Harper Cd, and your not interested in collecting his albums, then without doubt Its widely known that this was his most significant effort on the album market, and although his other albums are certainly worth a look if you like his music. The combination of righteous finger pointing, consice lyrics and, cerebral blues-folk would never quite have the same bite, as this, his finest album.

Great movie, better soundtrack.......2007-05-19
I just recently saw this movie and the only thing I could think about afterwards was that I had to get this soundtrack. I'm not usually a big fan of movie soundtracks, but this cd is unlike any other out there, soundtrack or not. The use of strings and carnaval type instruments is completely unique and makes this a must by for any fan of music.
great collection of unusual music.......2007-05-07
Rented the movie on reccomendation from Netflix, it was pretty good. But the music was the star of the show. The soundtrack follows the course of the movie pretty closely, it's kind of like listening to the movie. Each track brings to mind a specific scene in the movie. One of the highlights is the ecclectic treatment of Burt Bacharach's "Close to You". Most will remember the super-sweet Carpenter's version, but this interpretation was the main reason I bought the music. Unusual augmented chord progressions and almost minimalist format (complete with the mechanical background sounds made by the female jack-in-the-box-like, life-sized, mostly metal toy dressers) make the tune as captivating as in the movie when they 'convert' the trapped Helena into the black princess. Great music to play while relaxing, too.
Supurb.......2007-03-08
This soundtrack is truly a delight to listen to. It ranges from quirky circus music to deep and melodic mysterious tunes. It is a great CD to relax to and to use as background music for most any relaxing time hanging out with friends.
Amazing!.......2007-02-24
This is a very good soundtrack to a very good movie. The music is amazingly composed and is nice to listen to.
excellent.......2007-01-17
This CD is excellent! All the music from the movie in its entirety, all the songs are complete songs, and the songs are all top notch compositions.

What is Young Love?
"Los Angeles good times tequila rock bands Austin day cruiser van smoke machines tour trafalgar Hollywood oakwoods why are dudes wearing makeup everyone knows everyone Brooklyn night clubs whiskey white suits bright lights Miami island cutting rugs London finishing the record"
"That's the last two or three years of my life, with a bit of childhood thrown in," says Dan Keyes, frontman and musical tour de force behind Young Love. Not only does that word collage work as a history of the group, but it also serves as a good primer on the band's sound, which can only be described as "now, but different."

echo and the bunnymen meet assembly.......2007-07-25
Had never heard of these guys until i saw the open for erasure and was very surprised. Great energy and memorable songs to dance or tap your foot to. Plan to hopefully catch these guys again soon and will definately be buying their stuff as it becomes avail.
LOVE it.......2007-06-01
This CD is almost a guilty pleasure. It's a total pop album and the lyrics at times are cheesy and yet I can't stop listening to it.
young loveeeeee.......2007-05-18
Hi! I''m from spain, and I have met Young love because my brother like this tipe of music. the first song that i hear from Young love was Too young too fight it, i love this hit!! but discotech is better. well, bye and sorry, my english is too bad!! LorENa
disliked it at first...and then LOVED it .......2007-03-29
"Discotech" and "Find a New Way", the more danceable songs, were my favorites. My second favorites were "Closer to You", "Close you eyes" and some other more acoustically clean songs. Mr. Keyes does his best work on the acoustic numbers. However, songs like "Take it or Leave it" and "Tell Me", had to grow on me (although, the song "Give Up" still feels like overkill). This album is great, considering that many genres ( r&b, alternative, dance/electronica, indie...) are covered on it--which is pretty impressive. If you want something that is a little bit of everything, Too Young to Fight It is your best bet.
incredible!!!!!!!!!.......2007-03-17
you know i try to find a new band to add to my list once a year and the beginning of this year sucked but then about three weeks ago i was browsing new releases and i saw young love and i thought what is this. and then i sampled it and 30 minutes later i owned it. i completly love this band the whole vibe of the music is unlike anything ive heard in a while. they are by far the best ive heard this year. i love the song "too young to fight it" it has such an upbeat feel i just gotta dance to it and i must say the lyrics rock ! so if you dont by any other cd buy this one its completly worth the money.

Tan Dun straddles the very different worlds of concert music and film scores, winning admirers in both. He's perhaps best known for his score to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which shares with Hero a visual poetry that transcends the sword-filled action film genre. In Crouching Tiger, Tan Dun's music was often striking. In Hero he often lapses into repetition and cliché, a failing compensated for by several appealing cues. The Overture, for example, begins with the mournful wail of ancient Chinese instruments set against pounding drums, a promising start that evokes ancient China and the struggles to come. There's a mournful soprano vocalise in "Gone With the Leaves," and the "Warriors" cue recalls Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky. The plucking of the ancient Chinese lute in "In the Chess Court" evokes a timeless, peaceful mood, contrasting with the thrilling kodo drummers showcased in "Swift Sword." Itzhak Perlman gets cover billing for violin solos any competent studio fiddler could have handled. Tan Dun's admirers will want this, and audiophiles will love those kodo drummers. --Dan Davis

A dream.......2007-05-29
A magistral execution... close your eyes and dream.... a perfumed atmosphere will pervade you
Perfection at its Best.......2007-01-05
I received the Hero CD in mint condition and in a timely fashion. There's a plethora of things one could complain about, and when something works how it should, sometimes it gets overlooked. Not this time! I would just like to commend Amazon.Com on a job well done...
Tranquil Beauty.......2006-08-08
After seeing Hero, one of the (many) things that stuck with me was the evocative soundtrack. It set a perfect backdrop to the artistry and beauty of the story.
After purchasing the soundtrack, I was reminded of many of the scenes I enjoy, especially the tracks for the fight in the chess house ("In the Chess Court"), and in the yellow wood ("Gone with Leaves"). "Longing" is one of the most hauntingly serene pieces of film music I have heard.
This is not, obviously, a CD to listen to while you do step aerobics.
The theme is repeated and varied often, evoking the way the film's story is repeated from different perspectives, but those with short attention spans may perceive it as merely repetitive.
Beyond its association with the film, this soundtrack is an incredibly calming work of art. To be enjoyed with a good cup of hot tea.
5 stars.
Beautiful!.......2006-03-19
Interesting way to present some Chinese history by convoluted storytelling. Jet Li provides a subtle, challenging performance. It's a visually stunning movie to look at, as well. In a way, it's a lot like some classic Westerns in that the gorgeously stark landscapes of China become just as much a "star" as the players.
One of the real draws is the music. Tan Dun's compositions are beautiful, sad and celebratory at the same time, and haunting. I think it was pure genius to pair his compositions with Perlman. I had to wait a few months for the DVD, but I went out and bought the music CD immediately after seeing this gem of a movie.
Tranquility, Serenity, Beauty, and Superb Asian Movie Soundtrack.......2006-02-25
When I want to reconnect with my inner self and take a "time out" from my rat race life, I play either this CD or the sound track from "The Last Samurai". The theme from this CD stays in your head all day. If you like soundtracks, asian style muusic, classical music, and beauty, this CD has it all. I sometimes end up watching the movie again later in the week. I collect movie soundtracks and this is in my top ten.

The way the list should be.......2007-04-08
This list and compilation of college fight songs around the country is a disgrace. Oregon State University??? Give me a break! no one doesn't even know where that rookie of a school is.
The list of songs on this CD should be
1.) University of Michigan's 'The Victors'
2.) Ohio State's 'Buckeye Battle Cry'
3.) Ohio State's 'Fight the Team'
4.) Univ. of Texa's 'Fight Texas'
5.) Univ. of Iowa's 'Iowa Fight Song'

7.) Arizona State's 'Maroon and Gold'
8.) Univ. of Southern California's 'Fight On'
Greatest College Fight Songs.......2007-01-05
This is a great collection of college fight songs for college sports fans. How many times have you remembered the melody of one of the college sports teams and could not remember which school it belonged to? This album is a good collection of some of the most popular college fight songs. My wife took the CD to her new high school where she works so they could use it to adopt a college fight song for the new high school.
Alright recording, but..........2006-12-18
...how does New Mexico, Rice, and Syracuse get on this CD and NOT Texas, Florida State, and Tennessee?
Otherwise, a nice compilation of pieces...as stated in previous posts, quality isn't always great (but what marching bands really sound great anyway?).
Forget Cal Fan For Life.......2005-09-28
uses a review of a compilation of fight songs to take the opportunity to bash UCLA and USC's fight songs. Gimme a break.
Other than that, the recordings sound like old versions of the song, which might sound off to people who aren't familiar with how the song was played 50 or so odd years ago.

Well, all I can say is I'm glad amazon.com offered a sampling. The musical prowess of the musicians brought back fond memories for me......from when I was in 7th grade and just learning to play the trombone. If you're tone deaf, then this is the CD for your Fourth of July Picnic this year. Meanwhile, I'm going to keep on searching.

Amazon.com's Best of 1999
By dropping their y'allternative pretensions, busting out their rock chops, and releasing the pop child within, the Old 97's come out of the country and into the limelight. Some fans may decry the lack of twang, but there is no denying that Fight Songs is a terrific album, from its rollicking guitars to Rhett Miller's aw-shucks lyrical look at love's travails. --Tod Nelson
Amazon.com
Barely into the second track of Fight Songs the Old 97's, who've made cantankerous sore-heartedness a virtue, sound harmonically mellow and sweet. "Lonely Holiday," on first pass, is edgeless, but then you get "19" and yet more polished eschewal of this old band's incisive penchant. Does it bring Fight Songs down? A bit, but clean production aside, the Old 97's show tremendous growth from the scrappy twang of Wreck Your Life and even Too Far to Care. These are pop tunes, no doubt, and the twang might be somewhat eclipsed in spots. Guitarist and singer Rhett Miller's hardly budged an inch on his confessional pissing and moaning, still keeping it clear that he's bent out of shape. And the band's decided to trim its instrumental colors in the production process, which leads to a vaguely compressed feel in the guitars and an even more up-front occasion for Miller to sound off. --Andrew Bartlett

Heartbreak Seldom Sounds This Inviting .......2007-01-28
Old 97's have rock hearts and mixed emotions. Both are on prominent display in Fight Songs, an album that for me at least is a bit more consisistently satisfying than the later Satellite Rides. As a writer, Rhett Miller loves wordplay. Check out Indefinitely, a funny story of getting caught in the act, embarrassing even "though you're twenty-nine years old," and as for the romance, he's "in definitely," except when he's feeling "indefinitely" about it. Oppenheimer is a flat-out falling in love song, with some nifty background handclaps that recall street corner a capella or some of the better entertainment on the New York City subway system. Elsewhere, in Nineteen he captures precisely what it means to be a dewy but horny male of that age -- "nineteen is not the age of reason...all I ever wanted to do was lie around in bed with you." Most of these songs recount, as in Busted Afternoon, busted relationships, but ones remembered fondly and as part of living. Lonely Holiday, Murder (or a Heart Attack), Let the Idiot Speak, and Valentine are other top-notch cuts. In nearly all of them, hearts break, hearts mend, ready to get broken again. All of this plays out to music that is consistently polished, well-produced, and at times almost exultant in its blasting guitars and insistent drum lines. Maybe not brilliant, but Fight Songs is great music.
Old 97s at their best.......2006-02-25
I have every Old 97s CD, but this has always been the stand out to me. By far their best and the CD that turned me in to a dedicated fan. I've probably given a half dozen copies of this CD to friends with my unqualified recommendation.
The Band Who Could Do No Wrong.......2005-02-19
I first heard Old 97's on a local public radio station just after this album came out. They were playing "Oppenheimer". My first thought was that the singer sounded a bit like The Cure's Robert Smith. My second thought was that this was a great song; Catchy as could be, and just well written all the way around. I soon realized that this station played Old 97's quite frequently, and as I listened to all that I heard, I just fell in love. "Fight Songs" was the first Old 97's album I ever bought, and it is still my favorite. The album opens with "Jagged", a perfect example of edgy pop with just enough twang to it. "Lonely Holiday" is depressing in a wonderful way, leaving you feeling the pain of love. "Oppenheimer" and "Indefinitely" are happy-go-lucky, poppy sort of numbers that are absolutely perfect for driving in the car on a sunny day; "Nineteen" and "Murder (or a Heart Attack)" are radio-friendly numbers, but are well crafted, and don't let even the die-hard, cling-to-the-old-stuff Old 97's fan down. My least favorite song on this album for a long time was "What we talk about". I would always skip past it when I'd listen to this disc. Once I really gave it a good listen, it became one of my personal faves; Don't make the same mistake I did. The final track, "Valentine" is the icing on the cake. As if Rhett Miller's voice weren't enough to make this band shine, bassist Murray Hammond takes over vocals on this track (as well as on "Crash on the Barrelhead"), and literally draws that gut-wrenching, life-ending, heartbreaking feeling right out of you. I can't recommend this album OR this band highly enough. Why are you still sitting here reading? Go buy this CD!!
you say "sellout"...i say "great record".......2004-12-26
With "Fight Songs," the Old 97's sound got a bit punchier and the harder rockin' direction was explored more with the followup "Satellite Rides," another great record. "Fight Songs" was the album that alienated a lot of the band's hardcore following, but it is a record that really grows on you. Besides the insanely catchy songs like the opening cut "Jagged" and the (almost) hit "Nineteen," there is plenty more that can be appreciated by anyone who enjoys great rock 'n' roll. "Murder or a Heart Attack" is probably one of the five best songs written by Rhett Miller, who, by the way, has written dozens of truly masterful songs, and "Oppenheimer" is a great, timeless tune. This album is a great "road trip" type album, but is really great for any time.
People miss the point on this one..........2004-11-14
This was my second Old 97s disc, after "Too Far To Care," and it took me a bit longer to get into than their earlier material. However, it's become my most listened-to disc from what is probably my favorite band right now. This is guitar-pop in its classic sense- as in the Kinks, the Beatles and early REM, with catchy hooks and clever lyrics. It is also very much a logical extension from their earlier work. "Too Far to Care" is rougher and louder, closer to Rancid perhaps than Ray Davies, but they were obviously beginning to branch into less traditionally "country" sounding areas already. In my mind this is not too much of a departure for a band that has already broken down the barriers between country and pop.
I saw the band play live not so long ago, and the songs from this album stood up next to their earlier and later work very nicely. "Crash on the Barrelhead" was among my few favorite songs performed. See them live, and buy this disc. It's a great place to start with the band.

There's no better example of American pop culture's hall-of-mirrors ethos than producer Alan Carr's relentlessly buoyant 1978 film adaptation of the stage musical Grease. Inspired by that decade's rampant 50's nostalgia, it now paradoxically evokes the campy 70's excesses that spawned it. That sense of recycled decades in collision is underscored repeatedly on this deluxe, double-disc Grease-fest, especially on the set's second disc of bonus materials that spans vintage singles of the title track (its instrumental B-side) and "Greased Lightnin'," some sing-along karaoke tracks, and a handful of alternately slick/techo-savvy remixes (originally produced for the film's 20th anniversary) that are testament to its enduring, era-defying appeal. The original soundtrack itself has been treated to a stellar digital remastering that fills disc one, and remains a joyous monument to camp, sheer ambition, and exuberant nostalgic illusions. Includes a slip-cased, double-fold-out case and new booklet with complete song lyrics. --Jerry McCulley

You 're The One That I Want.......2007-04-03
The complete Grease experience. This cd is a two disc-set with disc one being the complete soundtrack, while disc two is all bonus material including the popular Grease Megamix. Fans of the movie would want to make this cd an essential part of their music collection.
Prepare to be transported to Summer Nights.......2006-03-26
Well here we are with a great piece of history.
This album has not only captured the spirit of the movie but the essence of a 1970's version of the 1950's. I have seen this play live and yes some things are different. Yet I grew up on the movie. I even find myself singing some of the songs now and then. Of course you will never see me singing "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee." However I do keep this in my car as great driving music. This album is not you can pick apart and say things like missing songs, in the wrong order etc. It sounds and feels just right. There will be many versions yet this one is the Grease - Deluxe Edition [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED] [SOUNDTRACK] gives you more information about each of the tracks allowing you to feel that you have inside information and to feel that you know more of what went into the making of each song.
Great Soundtrack & Fun Extras from an Enduring Musical........2004-07-06
I'm enjoying listening to this great soundtrack that I loved as a child after a long hiatus. I had it on 8-track 25 years ago. So it's fitting that I should get the 25th Anniversary Edition on CD. The 24 songs from the movie are just as everyone remembers them, so I'll talk about the Bonus Disc, which contains 10 alternative versions of the songs plus 2 previously unreleased instrumentals from the film.
Track 1 on the Bonus Disc is an instrumental version of the film's theme, "Grease", written and produced by Barry Gibb. Frankie Valli's voice has been replaced by a saxophone. The chorus is vocal, but the voices are not those in the original song. You could use this as a sing-along version, as it would be easy to sing over the sax. Tracks 2-5 are officially sing-along versions. "Summer Nights" includes the chorus vocals from the film and sounds good. "You're the One That I Want" has new chorus vocals of questionable merit. "Sandy" is a new arrangement. It's not as good as the film version, but you can sing along. Track 6 is the single version of "Greased Lightning" that you may have heard on the radio back in the day. It's differs from the original in that the bad words have been replaced for radio airplay. Tracks 7-8 are previously unreleased instrumentals from the film. "Greased Up and Ready to Go" is lively. Tracks 9-10 are mixes that I occasionally hear on the radio. The "Grease Megamix" and the "Grease Dream Mix" are fun, if awkward. Tracks 11-12 are Martian Remixes of "Summer Nights" and "You're the One That I Want". They retain the original vocals, but set them to a Latin rhythm. They make pretty good dance tracks.
This 2-disc set isn't in a jewel case. The case is paperboard with 4 panels that fold out. This is inside of a clear vinyl slip case on which the tracks are written. This isn't convenient packaging. On the bright side, the case won't crack in the mail. Tucked inside one of the panels is a booklet that contains lyrics and credits.
The "Grease: 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition" is a terrifically fun soundtrack to one of the all-time great movie musicals. And for all those preteen girls who go wild over the movie with each new generation, the bonus material is perfect for parties and horsing around.
If You Love Grease, You'll Love This - Only 1 Major Flaw.......2004-05-15
Disc 1 is like the original album, which I also own. 1 major flaw is that "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing" cuts off at the very end of it! I was upset by this, hence the 3 stars instead of 4. Disc 2 is a lot of fun w/some remixes and sing-a-longs, all in all, I'm pretty happy with it being that I'm a HUGE Grease fan. If you like Grease, you'll love this, it's fun. Too bad when they "remastered" it, they didn't catch there 1 mistake. Oh well, at least I have it on another album.

Interstellar travel in your headphones........2007-05-31
Well, Stargate SG.1 has finally ended after 10 seasons, and this soundtrack CD covers only the first two. I think there's room for a new CD or two, and hopefully the Stargate SG.1 people will get around to creating one.
Anyway, I've listened to this CD once so far and I was very impressed. The music really is enjoyable on its own, and I found myself listening to the Cold Lazerus music twice before I continued throught the rest of the CD.
Finally, don't think there isn't much music on this CD because of the small nunber of tracks. Many of these tracks are six to ten minutes long.
Stargate Music Album.......2007-05-12
Great CD throughout. It's a shame the show is being cancelled after 10 years but this music helps to keep the memory on.
Not as good as the 1st Music release.......2004-10-24
The best of Stargate SG-1 is infact a 9 track compilation of the 1st 2 seasons of the TV show. It's really not the best of Stargate. I rather enjoyed the 1st release namely called Music of Stargate SG-1 and the actual movie music-score. However I still enjoyed the music from several episodes of the 2nd season, most notable being the music suite of Hathor.
A fan of the TV show should be pleasantly surprised by the suites in this CD. It won't disapoint.
one for the fans.......2004-05-07
This CD is really one for the fans. If you've not watched Stargate SG-1 before, then it will be very limited in its' appeal.
I personally enjoyed the CD, as I could relate the music back to the particular episodes in which they appeared. Some of the tracks are sweet and melodic, others are more ominious, so it doesn't come up short on variety.
The music sounds, for the most part, rather sythesised (which is why, if you are used to sprawling epic soundtracks from mainstram movies, I generally don't recommend this if you have never watched the show). Tracks are usually a mixture of synthesised sounds combined with more organic notes from traditional instruments, creating a very "sci fi" sound.
This is a great CD to work and study to as it provides great background music without being too intrusive.
