Product Description
RTZ (Return To Zero) began as a collaboration between singer Brad Delp and guitarist Barry Goudreau (both ex Boston) around 1989. They released two albums in 1991 and 1998. Lost and Found is another step of the collaboration from Brad and Barry. The record is made up of never before released tracks that were recorded before the first RTZ CD. These cuts also feature the other original RTZ members and show the development that lead to the first RTZ release. A must have for Boston fans. As a special bonus to the RTZ CD, we offer the latest step of the partnership between Brad Delp and Barry Goudreau, the album aptly entitled Delp & Goudreau. The CD, recorded in Goudreau's home studio, features all new tracks written by Delp and Goudreau with the intent of making music for the pleasure of making music - pure delight for the melodic rock ears!!! Frontiers. 2004.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Five Stars For Delp And Goudreau.......2007-03-17

The Delp and Goudreau recording is probably the last CD to feature the dynamic vocals of the late and great Brad Delp. There are upbeat, mellow and poignant songs on the CD and Delp's vocals soar and lament while Goudreau proves to be a stellar guitarist. Brad Delp literally sang more songs for RTZ (featuring Goudreau) than he did for the much more famous band Boston. RTZ was not as consistently good as Boston but many of their exemplary tracks could fit into a Boston CD. Brad Delp had a great career as a singer and he was a longstanding vegetarian and humanitarian. His untimely death makes it imperative for fans to buy all the RTZ CDs. Delp was the voice of Boston and he was perfect for Tom Scholz's multi-instrumental virtuousity and impeccable sound engineering.

5 out of 5 stars A great CD set ! .......2007-02-26

I'm a proud owner of the Boston "spin-off" discs like "Return To Zero" and "Lost" by RTZ...Barry Goudreau's "Orion The Hunter"...Barry's self titled solo album...and of course the beautifully remastered first two Boston albums. So...when I spotted "Lost And Found/Delp And Goudreau...I had to go for it ! I'm rarely one to do track by track analysis...just a general review...especially when you can't go wrong with a purchase...so here goes !

For old times sake...I listened to Disc 2..."Delp And Goudreau" first...and found it to be GREAT...it's nice to see them get together for some new music ! Fans of these guys...and newbies will love this cd ! It doesn't sound exactly like Boston...which is fine...it's not supposed to.

The RTZ disc...well...I can see why Brad and Barry didn't previously release this stuff as RTZ...it sounds EXACTLY like Boston...without question. Compare it to the RTZ discs and you'll see...but you know what ? It's still great stuff...certainly better than what Tom Scholz' most recent Boston cd "Corporate America " was...JUNK ! But Tom's "the man"...he remastered those Boston discs for...and after all...was the creator of Boston !

I'm making this quick and painless for you...put it in your shopping cart now...you never know...it could go off the market one day...it's a great addition to your collection !

4 out of 5 stars If you love Boston--try these cds.......2007-01-05

This sounds exactly like a Boston recording of course with the lead singer and guitar player from Boston in the group. The only thing wrong is that every song sounds the same--not too original. The 2nd cd is exactly as the the 1st with almost the same lineup so why did they not call it an RTZ album? Sound is very clear and the stereo is great--play these loud--- Boston fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars very good for Boston Lite.......2006-09-21

This is a good album from Brad and Barry. Very lite on the second side, partially heavy on the first side. Overall, a somewhat great effort from the two. I call this album "Boston Lite", cause it never rocks as hard as any of their other albums

4 out of 5 stars RTZ have their feet firmly planted in the seventies/eighties.......2005-02-10

The Good
Lost and Found
" One Step Away" is a nice blend of fuzzy eighties guitars and pulsing keys. "Fool for Love" is on the acoustic side, but has a great electric guitar bending lead. One thing you'll start to notice is how RTZ keep their song writing simple (intro-verse-chorus-repeat-solo-repeat). There's no better way to get a song like "Rise Above It All" burned into your head. You know, in that little spot of your brain where it repeats the same song over and over again. "Social Disease" targets tabloid and trash television with a vengeance, with crunchy guitars and strong melodic vocals. `80's cliché alert': a song with the word rock in it-"Rock the Night" is your standard rock anthem about celebrating the end of a long working day. "Power of Love" makes the most of its keyboard leading tones. Dual vocals harmonies recall that classic seventies sound.

Delp & Goudreau
This disc tends to focus more on the duo's lighter, acoustic side. "What You Leave Behind" has an enjoyable acoustic tone to it. Delp is still just as passionate with his vocals as he was with RTZ. Bluesy guitar licks and soulful vocals dominate "Let it Roll". Twangy guitar tones and a simple high hat set the mood on "Out of My Hands". As the tracks builds, it flooded with hard riffs and powerful vocals. It sounds like a lost Pink Floyd track. "Everyday" is a piano driven ballad about enduring love. "The Rhythm Won't Stop" has a country feel to it, while "Reconciliation" is a pure classic rock track.

The Bad
Nothing

The Verdict
Sometimes when a band puts together a CD of unreleased material, you find out exactly why the tracks were never put out before. RTZ is not one of those bands. RTZ have their feet firmly planted in the seventies/eighties classic rock sound, but never ever sound stale.
