Product Description
Horror Metal ARTIST BIO: An underground icon and purveyor of all things dark, KING DIAMOND and his cohorts continue to find new ways to put the fear of evil if not humanity in us. Since going solo from Mercyful Fate in 1986 with the release of "Fatal Portrait", KING along with master axeman Andy LaRocque have allowed us to enter a world only known to a select few members of the Norman Bates admiration society. KING DIAMOND uses his music to air out what he sees is wrong in society whether you agree with him not.

worthy addition if your too silly to already own this?!.......2006-01-29
wow, does King know how to "play" an audience or what, this has everything a live album needs, audience getting into it, full-on live feeling, superb musicianship, basically close your eyes and you are there!! This double cd set neglects Spiders Lullabye, Graveyard, Voodoo, & House Of GOD, but I believe that is because King keeps on album concepts as opposed to just a "best of" that most bands do live... next question can King hit "those" notes in a live environment, the answer is a resounding "YES" all these tracks are just as good live as they are on the albums that they originated on... with keeping in on the album concepts King includes lots of the "intro" style songs here ("Funeral", "Spare This Life", "Sorry Dear" etc) which are obvously "live mixes" ie: on tape as opposed to played/vocalised by the band, but this is a great representation of KD live... basically, do yourself a favor and buy NOW!!!!
"You can still hear her screaming...".......2005-08-19
"Deadly Lullabyes" is the ulitmate "Live" recording of the legendary horror/metal act, King Diamond. Recorded in various cities around the US in 2004, King and the band cover songs from Abigail, Abigail II, The Pupper Master and many other King Diamond favorites, such as two songs from "The Eye". King sounds unbelivable. Hitting all the high octaves with total control. Livia Zita, who appeared on The Puppet Master, backs King's vocals up perfectly in selected songs. Andy LaRocque and Mike Wead compliment themselves beautifully on guitars. Hal Patino's bass playing is more than just a mere back-up. And Matt Thompson on drums does more than just an admirable job. His aping of Mikkey's style on the "Abigail" songs is quite impressive. He's the best drummer the band has had since...Mikkey Dee!
Having seen the band recently on a follow-up tour, the recording is near identicle to the live performance. This more than just an obligatory "Live" or "best of" collection. Any fan of the King that has not had the pleasure of seeing or hearing this band live, should purchase this CD immediately.
They ARE that good!.......2005-06-21
I saw King Diamond on this tour and once since then and I can verify that both times King and his band have sounded as good as this live cd indicates. As for the Mercyful Fate songs...he only played two of them at the end of the last show> Hail to the King!!! Five Stars.
Sounds like a studio album with crowd noise.......2005-04-14
The problem with this album is not that it sounds bad, it just somehow ended up with a production nearly identical to Puppet Master's. Not only does it sound way too polished, there's also all these overdubs on the vocals. There's really no reason to listen to it if you own the albums. In Concert Abigail is a much more relevant live disc.
Trip down memory lane.......2005-02-09
Not having seen King live in 16 years, his Conspiracy tour being the last one I saw, this double CD was a treat. The production value is stellar, far surpassing the Abigail Live '87 show. Nothing gets buried in the mix here.
The crunch of the guitars hits you full on, the relentless assault of the drums is awesome, and it's great to hear King still has his voice and can hit the notes he did 16 years ago.
To hear old classics like A Mansion in Darkness, The Family Ghost, The Invisible Guests (my all-time fave) to the two cuts from The Eye to the spectacular Puppet Master tracks really made me feel the magic of his live shows again. King doesn't just put on a show, he GIVES you a show, involving you in it. And to hear tracks like No Presents For Christmas was really cool.
If you've ever seen King live, this CD will take you back and put a smile on your face. If you've never seen King live, this double CD will give you a small taste of what you've missed out on. For you can never really experience a King Diamond show if you're not there in person. It's more than just the music, it's the theatrics that adds to it. What a great trip down memory lane this was.
The only reason I rated this 4 stars instead of 5 was I would have liked a few more old tracks, maybe a couple from Fatal Portrait.
My suggestion is, call up your buds, crack open some beers and CRANK THIS UP.
Now all we need is a live DVD, hopefully he'll have that worked out soon.
