Good album, but Buyer beware!.......2005-03-26
I love this album, but on my copy track one is silent.
It took 2 months for amazon to ship it to me. Maybe I just had bad luck?
Either way, the CD is excellent.

There have been three totally different bands that fall uner the Christian Death umbrella. The first was Rozz William's punk band that made only one record (theatre of pain) an okay record. The second band is the one that made this marvelous disk, and it's even better live version "The Decomposition of Violets". Once Rozz left, Valor called his band Cristian Death, and everything released after the mid 80's has been c-grade Goth drivel.
A Bravado of Haunting Suites for the Lost Souls..........1999-08-22
A painted mosaic filled with twilight essence and ghostly somberness. Catastophe Ballet is truly a hallmark for the band where refinement and craftmanship come together. Feel the beautiful chill of Gitone Demone's siren-like voice complete this masterpiece. This is a great CD to curl up with. Bury yourself with everything else Christian Death has to offer...

This, along with Only Theatre of Pain, is the best of all C.D. discs. This came out when Rozz and Valor were both in the band. It reflects Rozz's creativity and Valor's innovational musical ideas. And hey, Gitane can sing! If you can only buy one C.D. disc, buy this one! Then buy Only Theatre of Pain also!

Roz shines in goth classic.......2006-12-08
This is the definitive CD album when Roz Williams was still singing and alive. It captures the lyrical master doing a slower, less death-metal, more gloom tinged effort (compared to OTOP) and the result is fantastic! Gone are the satanic references, instead, we have a more mature, solid, and absolutely HAUNTING masterpiece. This is by far the very best of the CD releases out there, although OTOP runs a very close second.
So you think you're gothic/industrial?.......2005-03-16
This is, by far, Christian Death's finest album. It displays their deepest industrial edged music along with their best darkly poetic lyrics. As a fan since Christian Death's beginning, many moons ago, my opinion is that if you never buy another Christian Death album...YOU NEED THIS ONE!

Good, I guess............2007-01-26
This album is good but it could be a lot better. I enjoy Rozz's work as much as Valor and I would have to say this album is not the best.

All Rozz Fan's need to keep it on the DL . You guy's swear he's the S***.Anyways Almost all of his Albums suck. Just wanted too comment on that :-)
Classic; first to feature Rozz/Gitane/Valor/David Glass..........2003-03-25
If you by chance get the Cleopatara's remaster of this wonderful album, DON'T believe the liner notes " Words by Rozz Williams, all music by Valor "...Seven of the album's nine tracks were written by ROZZ WILLIAMS ALONE; " Sleepwalk written by Rozz and the original version ( on " Invocations " ) was recorded by the " Only Theatre Of Pain" line-up. But Valor does admittedly do a good job arranging and producing and his finest guitar work is here and on " Ashes "; Gitane DeMone's atmospherically religious keyboards and serene backround vocals are exqusite
( note: along with Rozz Williams, Gitane Demone is also a victim of the egotistical Valor Kand and reportedly still to this day is cheated out of her royalties by Kand ), David Glass's druming is excellent, and of course, the master of ceromonies rozz Williams' Bowie-esque vocal styling and beautiful haunting lyrics
help complete this great work. Too bad about Kand's ego and eventual succumb to commericalism...it effectively destroyed a really good band.

The ideal time to listen to this album is late at night in a room full of candles and incense smoke. It's the most enjoyable, indulgent romantigoth album I've ever heard. It just makes you wanna get up and do swirly Siouxsie dances while wearing a black lace veil and throw dried red rose petals in the air.

Turn out the lights, light some candles and insense cuddle with your dark lover and drift off into a gothic elizium. One of Rozz's best in every way. Beautiful, dark, gloomy, and utterly bittersweet. However it isn't really too different from Only Theater Of Pain. It's basically a bit more refined. Rozz actually sings instead of moans. And there is obvious musical proficiancy from the members of this lineup. Also the production is flawless. But it is in no way less powerful than the original Christian Death lineup. Definitely a quintessential gothic rock masterpiece.
