Metal with a hispanic twist.......2007-04-13
Don't worry, the vocals aren't all in Spanish, but he does throw in some lines here and there, but the effect is actually good. The sound has elements of hispanic music mixed with a traditional nu-metal approach. This album is by far their best, and rocks pretty hard, with screaming and melodic singing. Christian, the singer, has a good voice and sets this band apart from most nu-metal acts. These guys are probably not for everyone, but if you like to try some different sounding metal, you should check them out.
Rip out your eyes and just use your ears!.......2007-01-25
One of the greatest debut's in nu-metal music, `Revolution Revolucion' is 13 tracks of ear-splitting head-banging good fun. Starting off on the right foot with `God Save Us' and ending on the softer note of `With You', Ill Nino perfectly concocted a fantastic studio effort here. Some of the better songs include the opener as well as brutal tracks like `If You Still Hate Me', `Liar' and `No Murder' as well as the rap influenced `I Am Loco' and the popular single `What Comes Around' (which was immortalized when a brilliant remix was released on the `Resident Evil' soundtrack). With heavy Latin influence and pure talent, not to mention a screaming voice that could wake the dead, this band will stand on this album alone. While their albums proceeding this one have left me a bit cold, as in they just aren't what they could have been, Ill Nino still hasn't sacrificed their talent and originality. Sure to make any fan of nu-metal happy, this is an album worthy of plenty of repeat listenings!
Half good, half...not so much.......2006-08-22
I won't go into a song by song review, simply because there isn't enough good material to do so, but tracks 1,3,5,8,10,12 and 13 are all worth a listen. The rest are throwaway. I've enjoyed both of nino's latest records from start to finish, but revolution simply isn't a solid listen.
"The gods want something".......2006-05-30
I'm mainly into metal from the `80s and have very few albums from the `00s, but this CD cover caught my eye in a record store a few months back. It reminded me of the mummified corpses and skeletons on display during Mexico's Day of the Dead. I discovered that Ill Nino is a Latino metal band, so this made sense. I popped it into the listening station and was blown away. There is so much depth and so many styles to their music. At times it is angry death metal with bellowing vocals. At other times it is very melodic and pleasant, almost mainstream. Then they throw in some Spanish lyrics and Latin rhythms. The same tracks can urge the listener to hum and sing along and then cause the pulse to rise and the fists to clench. I'm not a fan of Death Metal or Latin music, but the combination with heavy rock melodies just seems to work. This CD finds its way in my player a lot!
"God Save Us": Has a Korn-like opening with a melodic, sing-along break in between, a beautiful guitar piece, then explodes again.
"If You Still Hate": There is more of a Latino sound here and, during its death metal parts, is even angrier than the opening: "I wish you dead!!!!"
"Unreal": Awesome! Very catchy with great vocals. When the guitar kicks in with the second verse of the chorus, it's a killer ride! Not as much screaming on this one so it's more accessible.
"Nothing's Clear": More Latin sound here (Latin guitar) plus more Spanish lyrics at the bridge. Another of my favorites. More harsh than "Unreal" but has accessible, catchy parts.
"What Comes Around": I love the chorus to this one--"I have nothing to say, but I feel like my mouth is open." Rap-like verse with Latin part as well.
"Liar": Wow, all kinds of stuff going on here. Storming drums with a very catchy part at "You say things would be the same." Harsh, Korn-like at times with angry rap-like verses and even record-scratching.
"Rumba": Another stand-out. Dominated by the quote: "The gods want something."
"Predisposed": another favorite of mine. Not as catchy and memorable but still an accessible song that's not too noisy. I like the calm guitar interlude.
"I Am Loco": Angry, furious lyrics with record-scratching. Harsh yet still melodic. Lots of stuff going on here.
"No Murder": Explodes with perhaps the angriest, heaviest stuff on the album. In contrast, the chorus is very catchy and one of my favorite parts on the CD. It even harmonizes. Both beautiful and ugly to the point of blood-curdling.
"Rip Out Your Eyes": Not as memorable save for the gut-wrenching bellowing of the title.
"Revolution/Revolucion": Now this one is very memorable. The chorus is awesome! My second favorite behind "Unreal." Then exploding with "Revolucion!!!" at the end.
"With You": Latin-flavor love song. All right. Nothing special. They should stick to their "Deathmex" stuff.
You gotta love it.......2005-09-14
Something about this band i mean they are damn good. Great vocals, lyrics and sound and everything else that you need to figure out yourself by buying this album. This is an up and rising band that doesn't get enough credit. This album is really impressive and an easy addition to my hardcore collection.

JUST PLAIN BRILLIANT!.......2004-04-05
Absolutely nothing in the world could've prepared me for this band. They have great vocals, great guitars, an original sound, and a really clever name that fits them just right. When you hear Christian's screams, you may be afraid, but it's a good type of fear. go and get it. it's worth your money. I never regretted buying this CD. ever.
1. God Save Us (10/10): This is the first song i heard from these guys after someone told me about em and it's my 3rd favorite on the album. solid.
2. If You Still Hate Me (10/10) The guitar buildup before the chorus is just awesome. The lyrics are great too.
3. Unreal (9/10) This is the only song that took some getting used to. Now I think it's great.
4. Nothing's Clear (10/10) Great acoustic intro and then it quickly switches back and forth between acoustic, synth, and numetal guitars. Also Christian Machado's vocals are great, switchin off between smooth and screams, English and Spanish.
5. What Comes Around (10/10) My second favorite song on this album. It's fun to play on guitar and the rapping is great. Roger Vasquez plays the tribal drums like a lead instrument and gives the verses it's flavor. The bass stands out a lot too. Also The bridge is awesome.
6. Liar (10/10) The second song I heard from these guys. My friend got the Ozzfest comp and this song was on there. tight song.
7. Rumba (10/10) Now this is music. The intro stands out a lot in this song and the guitar is great. hella fast and great.
8. Predisposed (9/10) Another "intro stands out" song, but it's a little too slow for me. still good though.
9. I Am Loco (10/10) Tied for 1st favorite. It may be slow, but the lyrics are awesome and the guitars are excellent.
10. No Murder (10/10) It took me 2 weeks to get how to play this song (it normally takes me a few minutes) A good message in a heavy song.
11. Rip Out Your Eyes (10/10) The other tie for first. Every time I pick up my guitar I have to play this song. Christian's vocals are just incredible.
12. Revolution/Revolucion (9.5/10) The title song and it kicks a**. but not as much as the others
13. With You (9.5/10)It has a great latin sound in guitar and drums, and great vocals from Christian, but it would've been better if they had a few Spanish vocals.
14. Fallen (4.5/10) Oh, come on. Ill Nino had a good streak going and they ruin it with this: A standard Numetal song with no originality.
15. Eye for an Eye (10/10) They sound awesome live and this Soulfly cover proves it. I can't decide which version's better. I like em both.
16. God Save Us live (10/10) Like I said, they're awesome live and they live up to that reputation with this.
17. What comes Around spanish (10/10) Lucky me, I'm Mexican, so I can understand the lyrics. They're a little different than the English version, but still, it's great.
18. Unreal spanish (10/10) (^see above^)
It also has the videos for What comes around (pretty cool) and Unreal (live) Just get this CD. You won't be sorry.
Awesome.......2004-01-26
This band is awesome, I don't see the Slipknot influences near as greatly as I see Soulfly, but that could just be me. First off, this does get old after a while, and Christian's voice sounds like crap sometimes. Second, With You and What Comes Around both suck, What Comes Around is too rap metal. The best songs are Nothing's Clear, Unreal, Fallen, Revolucion/Revolution, and Liar, which I bought it for. The big thing everyone should know: There is very noticeable piano in the spanish version of Unreal that's not in the English one. I for one very much like when metal bands infuse classical instruments, so I am unsure whether I like the English or Spanish one better, as I speak both languages anyways. So, listen to the spanish version, and definitely get the enhanced extra track version, for Eye For An Eye, Fallen and the Spanish Unreal.
Awesome debut from some fellow Jersey boys.......2003-09-23
Ill Nino's debut album is good, but I don't think it's as great as others say it is. I've noticed heavy doses of Slipknot when I've listened to it, maybe it's me, but I've read interviews with members of the band saying how Slipknot is a huge musical influence on them. I do love how they've mixed in latin beats and rhythms; Ill Nino also has sections of their songs in spanish and have also done entire versions of their songs in spanish.
I've actually known about this band for a long time, back when they were El Nino, not Ill Nino. They had a decent cult following going on here in the NY/NJ area for a few years. They were a much harder, heavier band back then; very much involved in the local Hardcore scene. Their singer was a guy named Jorge who was in the bands Full Contact and Merauder. He also did guest vocals on Candiria's third album.
I think everyone back then thought El Nino was destined for greatness, but I don't know if anyone thought they would change singers, change their name and mellow out their sound. El Nino never released anything officially outside of a demo, but I'm sure that's floating around the internet somewhere. They were one sick f#!@ing band . . .
Best of the best.......2003-09-19
This is a benchmark in nu-metal albums & all albums after this should be judged against it & YES it is that good!there isnt one bad song on this album at all, every track is amazing.the new album Confession has a lot to live up too but from what i heard it is amazing as well.if you have'nt heard this album already go out right now and buy it because simple words cant justify how good this album is.

Remembering Past Enchantments And Past Ills.......2004-06-07
Few composers outside of the classical canon have expressed the ineffable as beautifully as Ennio Morricone. The Italian Morricone, who has written scores of wildly varying quality for over 400 films, came to international prominence with and is still best - known in America for his "Spaghetti Western" scores of several classic Sergio Leone films of the Sixties, such as A Fistful of Dollars (1964), The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly (1966), and Once Upon A Time In The West (1969).
With the Leone scores, Morricone created musical pieces structured like complex mathematical equations, many of which were suffused with a driving, hypnotic, and archetypal power. In fact, the soundtrack for The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly was so dramatically dynamic that it thoroughly outstripped the finished film in terms of imaginative potential. Only with Once Upon A Time In The West did Leone create a film well crafted and realized enough to match Morricone's entrancing, playful, and occasionally perditious score. Similarly, Dario Argento's The Bird With The Crystal Plumage (1969) almost completely failed to utilize Morricone's contribution, the best portions of which were heard only dimly and sporadically in the finished film. Leone's late masterpiece, Once Upon A Time In America (1984), two - thirds a perfect film, also failed to fully rise to the occasion of Morricone's simultaneously poignant, wistful, and wonderfully exuberant score.
Today, Morricone's work is available on literally hundreds of soundtracks and soundtrack compilations dedicated to the composer, very few of which are entirely satisfying. An Ennio Morricone Anthology (1995), which contains 45 tracks from 39 films produced in Italy from 1965 onward, perpetuates this frustrating tradition.
Of the 45 tracks, about a third represent Morricone realizing or approaching the height of his talent, another third are fairly interesting but ultimately repetitious and self-cannibalizing, and the final third, which may have worked reasonably well within the context of the films they were written for, never rise above the status of shrill, discordant, and bellowing kitsch (several attempt a Henry Mancini - like levity and fall flat). In fact, there is a great deal of healthy, raw, and leveling vulgarity even in some of Morricone's most famous compositions, such as "Le Vent, Le Cri" from 1981's The Professional and "Chi Mai" from 1971's Maddalena, both of which are included.
Those seeking haunting compositions on the scale of "L'Estasi Dell 'Oro" or "Il Triello" from The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly or "Poverty" from Once Upon A Time In America will be disappointed to find very few pieces approaching their caliber here, especially if already familiar with such well - known pieces such as "Moscow Farewell" from the 1987 film of the same name or the otherworldly "Il Gatto A Nove Code" from The Cat O' Nine Tails (1971).
As compositions of vastly different quality are interspersed amongst one another in dizzying array, many may find An Ennio Morricone Anthology virtually impossible to listen to from beginning to end without skipping tracks repeatedly. As a genius whose greatest compositions address both the immanent and the transcendent, both perdition and salvation, both the archaic and the modern, Morricone and his admirers deserve a more carefully selected and thoughtfully produced anthology than this haphazard collection offers.
Delightful scores from Ennio Morricone.......1998-12-19
Few composers in film music today are as greatly admired as Ennio Morricone whose scores for a wide range of screen fares and many Oscar nominations and wins have attracted the attention of fans all over the world. This compilation is one of the best and contains very fine original musics and rare tracks of this Italian composer.

This double-disc treat covers Morricone's work from 1965 to 1995 and contains mostly never-before-released material from 40 different motion pictures, many of which demonstrate his quirkier side. Many are from less-known films like To Forget Palermo and What Am I Doing in the Middle of the Revolution? But there are also more famous tracks like the main titles to Cinema Paradiso and My Name Is Nobody as well as the haunting "Chi Mai" from Maddalena. Though best known for his much-imitated and oppressively cute spaghetti-Western themes, Morricone here demonstrates his much more intriguing romantic and melancholic sides. His title song to Farewell to Moscow is among his saddest and menacing works and, like several other selections, can be the preferred antidote to Prozac. --Joseph Lanza
