Well here is how I see it........2006-08-03
First off, don't let this review fool you. I've been a cof fan since 1999. I love this band, they got me into Black Metal and pretty much the first stepping stone into extreme metal. However, instead of giving a cliche they sold out htis roadrunner that blah blah blah review. I think i'll put it simply like this.
Back when I was a young kid, i had a group of friends. There weren't many of us, we didn't have huge really big birthday parties or anything. We weren't popular or anything. However, we were young (friends for 5 years, from 8-13) my best friend was named Ben. ben was liked by everybody in our group. However, one day he woke up and started acting like everybody e lse, just like the popular kids. Started betraying who he really was and who he once was. He was now accepted by the masses of kids in middle school and had many new friends. However, we hated him at this point. Cradle of Filth, are sorda like Ben.
GREAT CRADLE OF FILTH EP!.......2006-07-03
THIS IS ONE OF MY FIRST CRADLE OF FILTH CDS I LISTENED TO,AND LIKE THE FIRST,IT BLEW ME AWAY! ITS MORE THAN WHAT YOU WOULD EXCPECT DOR A CD WITH ONLY 6 SONGS. SOME SAY "CRADLE TO ENSLAVE" IS THE BEST SONG, BUT I MUST SAY SLEEPLESS AND OF DARK AND f$#KING ARE MUCH BETTER! ALTHOUGH THE CRADLE TO ENSLAVE MUSIC VIDEO IS PERFECT! THIS IS ONE OF C.O.F. BEST EPS! IF YOUR LOOKIN FOR A SHORT YET SATISFYING BLACK METAL CD, I WOULD REALLY RECCOMEND THIS ONE! EVERY TRACK IS GOOD! IT IS MUCH DIFFRENT THEN THE AVERAGE BLACK METAL BAND,I WOULD SAY THEY TOOK BLACK/DEATH METAL TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL! THE ENDING OF DARK OF..... IS REALLY TRIPPY TOO! SO STOP READING REVIEWS AND BUY THIS EP,NOW!!!
LONG LIVE THE FILTH

"Two out of six a good album does not make".......2005-11-26
I guess the fact that I'm not a COF fan [ MUSICALLY, they're pretty good] probably highly effects this review; but I would say that the fact I'm giving it two stars is fairly generous, all things considered! [ Note: this band's best song is and always will be Nymphetamine Fix w/ the angelic Liv Kristine! }. Anyway, here goes:
Track 1. From the Cradle to Enslave. One of the best songs I've ever heard this band do! it would be even better if lead screamer Daniel Davey just SHUT THE F@@K UP FOR TWO MINUTES AND LET THE MUSIC PLAY! it's got a cool groove and the keyboards ; I'm not exactly sure if it's Lector or Damain returning to fill an empty slot [ the band's line-up from what i've read was absolutely chaotic during the recording ]but they are definiely the highlight of the piece,; providing most of the groove; breaking down with a sudden orchestral sequence in the middle and ending with a lovely outro. And there's the kicking guitar melody line for the chorus. Davey's vocals? I generally do not like this guy's voice at all, but I suppose it fits the song.
Beautifully soaring backing vocals by Sarah Jezebal Deva definitely help matters termendously; the band should fire Davey and have Deva take over on vocals.
Track 2. Dark Blood and F**king Thee. Chaotic track that features
vocalist Davey at his most annoying; the music only grooves during the spiraling chorus where backing vocalist Sarah Deva and the swirling keyboards manage to momentarily save things. For the most part it's just noise.
Track 3. Death Comes Ripping. the Misfits version sucks [ as does the Misfits in general } and so does this one. Terrible.
Track 4. Sleepless. An Anathema cover; I actually have to say even Davey pulls through on this one for most part; mostly opting to imitate Peter Steele of Type O Negative's low vocals;
eventually the trademark Starcream vocals kick in as well as some not to audible death growls i could have done without. but the musical arrangement is great; wonderful keyboard and piano arrangements, as well as some good old fashioned old school metal guitar riffing that compliments things nicely. A kick ass number; too bad it's not their song.
Track 5. Funeral in Carpathia. The first few moments of this piece, with Davey once again imitating Peter Steele over melodic
intense guitar lines and underling melodramtic synths is cool but things quickly disintigrate into a groovless mess with Davey screeching like a scalded cat. this song is also very badly mixed; the drums sound like tin cans!
Track 6. Dawn of Eternity. According the album credits, this is another cover. Great errie keyboard intro that goes into an equally great power chord punching metal riff drenched in creepy synth; but then it goes into that rhythmless Slayer -esque sh*t with Davey doing his usual screams and death metal growls. too bad, so sad.
Bottom line: title track and the Anathema cover are really well put together enjoyable slices of metal; as for the rest....

GREAT DARK EP!!!!.......2005-11-22
I AM QUITE A HUGE COF FAN AND JUST WANTED TO SAY THIS ALBULM MAY NOT HAVE MANY SONGS, BUT STILL HAS THE SAME DARKNESS AND EVIL AS ANY OTHER CRADLE OF FILTH CD. IF YOU ARE A NEW FAN, I RECOMEND THIS OR BETTER YET ONE OF COF BEST ALBULMS CRUELTY AND THE BEAST!

Cradle in-between.......2000-07-21
Cradle of Filth had some band-member changes prior to this release, and this is certainly noticeable. The newcomers definately keep the same standards of musicianship, albeit taking Cradle of Filth in new directions. The first two tracks, the title-track and "Of Darkness and F**king" are superb! Unique songs with a unique sound. Extraordinary arrangements and powerful crescendos fuelled by all-out thrash. In fact, I consider these songs superior to most of their previous work. It feels as if CoF has found their own sound and are extremely comfortable with it. Great! The EP should have ended there, in my opinion, because the rest of the songs are mediocre at best. What is supposed to be covers of Misfits, Anathema, and themselves with CoF-flavor (or should I say flavour), end up being mediocre at best. I could say that Dani's voice just dont do these songs justice, but I might as well say that these songs dont do Dani's voice justice. Nevertheless, his style of singing and the songs covered do not belong together. I would have loved to hear Dani actually SING on at least one of the covers, or is he incapable? Is it an issue of image; that it isn't "evil" or "black metal" enough if he should use different modes of singing depending upon the atmosphere of the music? In any case, Dani's mode of singing is outstanding and fits perfectly into the atmosphere of Cradle of Filth music as it has sounded and sounds on the first two songs of this EP. The point of the remixes is to me completely lost. What's with the techno? and the "Funeral in Carpathia"-remake is definately inferior to the original. Is it just me, or does Dani's voice actually crack a few times singing it! It should never have been released. Summing up, buy this EP for the two first songs and discard the rest. I am sure that the new album coming soon will set up new, wonderful standards as to what one should expect from the music of the CoF-genre.
Not there old stuff, but it's different in a good way.......2000-04-16
If you are a fan of straight foward black and death metal, then you won't like this. If you like and appreciate talent though, you will like this. It is totally different from their other worrks with a slightly more commercial appeal to it. As if COF could ever be commercial. But it's all good, and it still rocks.
New CoF.......1999-12-26
Cradle certaintly have come a long way since Orgiastic Pleasures back in '92. The new disc, "From the Cradle to Enslave" is not the greatest Cradle of Filth CD, but it deserves the 5 stars anyway. Dani Filth and company have taken a new approach to songwriting, as the title track has a definite commercial twinge to it (well, as commercial as black metal can get). The other tracks, "Of Dark Blood and F**king," "Death Comes Ripping," (A Misfits cover), "Sleepless," (an Anathema cover), and two remixes, a techno remix of "Cradle" and a remake of the CoF classic "Funeral in Carpathia," are also fairly trimmed up; much more straightforward than tracks from "Dusk and Her Embrace," some of which sprawl on for 8 to 9 minutes. It even conjurs memories of "The Principle of Evil Made Flesh (an album which even die-hard Cradle fans have never heard). In effect, "Cradle to Enslave" is definitely for the die-hard fan, as well as for the newer fans. I wouldn't reccomend it as an introduction for new listeners though, as it is not an accurate representation of the group, and is more of a look at what's to come with the new album. New listeners should definitely go check out "Cruelty and the Beast." That's all for now. Hope I helped.

It takes a little understanding........1999-12-17
This CD is only for the COF fans of a loyal following. To understand this EP you would have to understand COF. If you are one to collect their music no matter what kind of direction they choose to try, then this is a good one to have. If not and this will be your first time listening to them, definitely listen to their previous albums. This is a great way to make the anticipation of their next album even more. Also, purchase their new video "PanDaeMonAeom" (something like that) it will really get you inside of COF. COF will always be on top.

This is the end of everything........2002-02-05
If all their stuff was like From The Cradle To Enslave (song), they would likely be unriveled by anybody in the metal community. The song is unreal. Dani's vocals are top notch, the symphonic quality of the song is... dare i say, enchanting. The title track takes you by the nuts within 10 seconds. The lyrics are perfect, the vocals are perfect, it is incredibly heavy, and the dynamics take you to every corner of metal. But that is not all, the other original song on the CD is intersting in its own right, and is one of the thrashiest songs ive ever heard. If not for the namesake track, the highpoint of this album would have to be their cover of Anathema's Sleepless. True to the original, the cover is extremely powerful, with some of Dani's most inspired vocals... the screams are incredible. Finally, the remix of Funeral In Carpathia rivals and... dare i say (is that twice now? =p) may even be better than the original?
My biggest problem with this album is that nobody has it and i cant discuss it with anybody.
