5 out of 5 stars something to have.......2007-03-14

These CD's are filled with all the awesome relaxing songs for the evening when you need it. It is just one of those must have items in your CD collection.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Music.......2007-02-19

This album was a "try and see" purchase but I love it. It makes great dinner music, great music to drift off to sleep with, or just nice background filler during social events needing a softer tone. It is not all solo piano music if that s what you are after; the other instruments blend very well however and don't challenge the piano playing. It is a piano album after all!

5 out of 5 stars buy now.......2006-09-01

Want to know why I think the piano is the best musical instrument ever invented? Because no matter how the piano is played, it will always sound good. Whether the music is fast, slow, quiet or loud, it ALWAYS delivers with an appealing sound. This is something you need to buy.

5 out of 5 stars Lovely.......2006-02-22

This is a beautiful calming cd. The playing is excellent and the pieces are well chosen.

5 out of 5 stars Aesthetically Pleasing.......2005-09-14

I simply love piano music. If you're looking to relax, enjoy a peaceful time, then you must check out this album. If you truly enjoy piano music, this album is by far one of the best you can purchase.

As it says....it is the "Most Relaxing Piano Album in the World...Ever..." Well, I haven't listened to all piano albums in the world, but I don't need to, this one is just perfect for me, and I think you will agree!

I would say the pianists' are extremely accomplished. At times, I would admit-it's a bit 'spine tingling'!

Janet Jackson opens her much-hyped, post-wardrobe-malfunction return to the studio with the following proclamation: "I've covered a lot in my 20 years, and I've uncovered a lot in my 20 years." There's a pause, then a giggle. And then comes an honest breakdown of this disc's DNA: "I want to have fun," chimes Janet (or J., or Miss Jackson if you're nasty and can remember that far back). Fun, then, is what we get. With a light heart, a light vocal touch, and no shortage of quips and unstaged-sounding between-song cut-ups, Janet and her Jermaine Dupri-helmed posse pull together a Sunday afternoon picnic of a disc: "Enjoy," among 20 Y.O.'s standouts, hauls in a kids' choir to reinforce the keep-it-simple, spirits-skyward vibe; "So Excited" reaches back to Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" for a subtle retro reference point; "Show Me" and "Do It 2 Me" buzz along to infectious midtempo sound melanges; and "This Body" is a heavy breather reminiscent of Damita Jo's likable smut. Nelly puts in a house call for "Call on Me," another easy-beezy standout and 20 Y.O.'s nod to name-dropping, but overall it's easiest to praise this fresh and frolicsome disc for what it does without--in a break from current pop customs, nothing's twitchy or trying too hard. -- Tammy La Gorce

5 out of 5 stars Fun, easy listening, CD, vintage Janet.......2007-07-17

I have been following Janet Jackson since her first album, Young Love. I think 20 Y.O. is a great, CD, it's what Janet does.. it's got great beats, good R and B sounds (less POP which I appreciate), and some of the selections are sexy. I enjoyed it very much.

4 out of 5 stars Far from superb but a nice recovery from "Damita Jo"! .......2007-07-08

I thought "All For You" started to lost it's appeal once it's charting days were over and it's follow-up "Damita Jo" had to be the worst piece of toilet-bowl material that I had heard in years. So bad "Damita Jo" was that I literally stopped listening to Janet's music for more than a year, even "Control", "Rhythm Nation", "Janet" and "Velvet Rope" were depressing to listen to when knowing how far she fell afterwards. I didn't immediately bother with "20 YO" when it came out though I later thought I'd give it a try, just to see how much lower Janet could go after the atrocity of "Damita Jo". Upon finishing it, however, I have to say that despite its faults, "20 Y.O." has GOT to be Janet's best release in nearly ten years, easily since "The Velvet Rope". I have not liked a Janet record so much since that 1997 masterpiece. While "20 Y.O." is a far cry from anything she did in the 1990s, I have to say that Janet has to some degree redeemed herself after faltering so badly. The album still has its faults but nothing like what ultimately killed "All For You" and made DJ a stillborn joke. Even then, most of the shortcomings are more about the songs squandered potential and boring titles than the ultimate result.

I could almost divide this album into two-halves. Either way, this album is like a soundtrack incorporating elements of every album that Janet had done in the last 20 years leading up to the release of this CD as the title suggests. The first half of the album caters to more commercial trends in music with "So Excited" and "Show Me" being among the most commercial soundings tracks on this entire album. Even then, these two songs are not half bad. The rest of the first half is also enjoyable and ironically "Do it 2 Me" is actually very good and reminds me of Big Pun's classic "Still Not a Player" from years back. The album's first single "Call On Me" though while not bad at all and actually a decent track, could have really been a phenomenal track. To me, the track sounds like it was done too quickly and I think Janet could've worked more on it to make it sound `fuller' but at least it's a good track, at least to me.

The second half of the album seems to have a less commercial, trendy style, more in tune with what older audiences enjoyed. It is here that "20 Y.O." shines in places. "Daybreak" has a very eclectic chime-effects and a catchy beat and rhythm to create a very nice and catchy track. It is easily one of my favorite tracks on this album. "Take Care" however is the winner on this CD. The song has a beautiful Quiet-Soul mood and despite being marred by the baby-making sounds in the beginning, it is an absolutely haunting and gorgeous track. I have not heard nor enjoyed a Janet song that was this good since her Velvet Rope days and the melody has some similarity to "Someday Is Tonight". Though a far cry from that, "Take Care" has got to be one of my favorite Janet tracks in many years and beats out anything from AFY or DJ by light years. "Love 2 Love" is another decent track but the static `BOOM' sound effects between alternating notes are somewhat jarring.

I had given up on Janet after such horrors like "Damita Jo" and the garbage singles between that and 20 Y.O. but apparently, with this album, I could argue that Janet seems to be turning herself around. Even the interludes are enjoyable as well though the album wouldn't suffer without them. The album also benefits by being considerably shorter and fewer interludes than previous albums. This sense of her not trying to fill up the CD to the brim gives the album a little more consistency. Could Janet have finally seen the errors of her ways? Perhaps. :) Could Janet really be turning herself around? Perhaps. :) Could Janet become great once again? I'll just take a step back and say this: I'm not holding my break. But for the time being, Janet seems to have really made some serious strides in redeeming herself and has regained some of my respect after so long. I could almost go far enough to say that this is her first album since "The Velvet Rope". Mildly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Much better than Damita Jo.......2007-07-02

So Janet decided to go back in the studio after the flop known as "Damita Jo." Wow did she do well this time around. "20 YO" is full of fun dance tracks and mellow slow jams that the average R&B listener will appreciate and love. Janet certainly has grown a lot in her 20 years in the music industry. It was a smart move to get JD to produce some of the tracks from this album, as it was to get Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to do the second half. Fans of newer Janet will enjoy the first half of the album and fans of old school Janet will probably prefer the second half. My favorite songs are "So Excited" (A great uptempo track featuring Khia) and "Daybreak" (A midtemo jam that reminds you of "Escapade"). I highly reccomend this album to any Janet fan.

1 out of 5 stars Janet should consider switching to film and retiring from music........2007-06-14

Janet Jackson experienced an aesthetic decline following 1993's "Janet" -- with that album ["Janet"], she morphed into this semi-believable sex-kitten that seemed very Madonna-lite. Indeed, Madonna went through this phase as well on "Erotica" and "Bedtime Stories"; the difference is, Maddy moved on to something else! Jackson -- on the other hand -- stayed in this mode on subsequent releases and eroded her fan base (or what qualifies as one). "20 Y.O." was a rather failed attempt at redemption following some of the worse aesthetic choices of her career. The project was largely helmed by her love interest -- the marginally-talented Jermaine Dupri.

"20 Y.O." suffers from lackluster production and feeble attempts at being progressive, yet commercial. The album's attempts at electro -- "So Excited"; "Show Me"; Get It Out Me" -- seem forced and clichéd. Even worse are the albums mid-tempo tracks -- "Do It 2 Me", "This Body" and "With U" -- which continues Janet's redundant fixation on contrived sexiness. More -- tracks like "Call On Me" featuring Nelly and the aforementioned "So Excited", which features Khia -- only confirm how much hip hop has come to consume Jackson's lackluster album output. The only bright spot on "20 Y.O." is the track, "Enjoy", which reminds the listener of what Jackson once seemed capable of given a good backing track.

When all is said and done, Janet Jackson the singer -- or rather, the recording artist -- would seem to be irrelevant. She should retire from singing and head full-swing into the acting arena. People will have to excuse "Poetic Justice", though.

The action in this tale about the 18th century adventurer and (at least in popular lore) seducer is set in Cassanova's native Venice in the mid-1700s, so it makes sense that the soundtrack would be loaded with Baroque pieces. The Venice-based Tomaso Albinoni is featured prominentaly, along with heavyweights such as Antonio Vivaldi, Jean-Baptiste Rameau, and George Frideric Handel, and lesser-known composers such as Arcangelo Corelli, Francesco Durante, and Alexandre Desplat. Er, actually Desplat is a contemporary French film composer who also released his score for the couldn't-be-more-different Syriana shortly after Casanova came out. Of the two pieces he penned here, "A Venetian Virgin" is in pure Baroque style, while "Inquisitor Pucci" betrays a more modern film-music vibe. Meanwhile, orchestrator Sonny Kompanek rearranged a couple of the tracks and authored the tense "The Plume's Nom Is Casanova," which doesn't sound embarrassing sandwiched between pieces by Albinoni and Handel. Overall, it would have been nice to get longer excerpts from the pieces--many feel chopped into too-small fragments--but the music's innate grace and elegance can't be beat for a period film. Or for any film, really: Vivaldi's Concerto in C Major ("The Doge's Decree") will be familiar to buffs, who will remember it featuring prominently in the Dustin Hoffman-¬Meryl Streep showdown Kramer vs. Kramer back in 1979. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Sheer Beauty for the Ears.......2006-07-25

For those that purchased this CD, I need not get into how masterfully infectious the movie was. After the first viewing, I found it charming, but after the second, I was hooked by the witty, clever story holding fun twists all along the way. So while I could go on and on about the movie and all of its wonderful aspects, the score was simply priceless. Apt in every scene, and all done with incredible baroque music that I had never had the opportunity of hearing before the film.

The disc walks you through the movie with no changes that I could tell from the original score. The only omission I found was that the song dubbed "Casanova's Theme" is played in much greater length in the closing credits, and that didn't seem to make it to the CD. Not a terrible loss.

5 out of 5 stars Authenticity can sound great as well!.......2006-07-11

As an avid baroque music listener and performer, I can attest to the delightfully pleasing performances on the soundtrack as well as the painstakingly accurate performance practices utilized in the recording of this soundtrack.

The producers of this film fortunately went to the trouble of hiring some of the top period performance musician-specialists in the country (perhaps in the entire world) to record the soundtrack to Casanova. I know, because several of them were faculty members of the Oberlin Conservatory Baroque Performance Institute who went AWOL to Hollywood in June 2005 for the recording sessions. We all forgave them, and were actually quite excited that period music performance was having its day on the silver screen.

Do not miss this exquisite potpourri of wonderful baroque composers' works performed as closely as humanly possible to the way that they heard their works during their lifetimes! The film may not have been intended to be historically accurate (part of the fun), but the music certainly ended up that way. Not only that, but it sounds heavenly (unlike Casanova's antics) and up-to-date, not musty and old as if it were sealed in a museum case.

5 out of 5 stars a little world of baroque sound.......2006-02-26

Lots of interesting baroque music unknown to me and
put together in dramatic sequences that add zest and
class to the listening experience. Also wonderful to
play in auto while driving thru boring country or in
slow moving traffic!
This CD will get a lot of play from me.
5 Stars!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful relaxing music........2006-02-25

Saw the movie and had to have the soundtrack. Great music to relax by. When you need to get away from the cares of the day the classics can't be beat. The producers of this movie certainly chose wonderful music to accompany it.

5 out of 5 stars The classical heritage .......2006-04-16

The visible embellishment of this noble instrument was enriched still more by the Spanish composers, who following the traces of his contemporaries. In the case of Fernando Sor, Haydn was his musical guide, where as Aguado, could establish himself with major vehemence, due its particular style, based in the notable right-hand articulation, eschewed the classical patterns, being able to print his own music a flamboyant and refined character.

In the particular case of Fernando Sor, we have a wisdom blending of the counterpoint technique, an evocative mood from his own that, added the well known influence of the Italian composers (Domenico Cimarrosa and Giovanni Batista Pergolesi) and his beloved love for the Operatic genre, allowed him to enrich still more the lyrical possibilities of the guitar. Besides, unlike Nicolo Paganini, for instance fortunately did not transform the guitar in a simple device to show his overwhelming gifts. He used the guitar to play music, on the opposite approach of Paganini who used the music as mere device to play his instrument.

In the guitar genre there has not been most deserved and superb tribute to Mozart that this Variations Op. 9 based on a motive of The most famous Mozart ?s Magic Flute. Loaded of such imaginative freshness and enraptured inspiration you may notice that one of the Variations conserves an undeniable Italian flavor; this is one of the most beloved hidden treasures the guitar can offers us, which raise with special charm in the hands of this formidable soloist.

Aguado on the contrary acquired due his personal state of things, a notable adroitness who excelled by far, to Sor, so his musical approaches rode in opposite directions, trying to exploit at maximum levels the technical possibilities of the instrument.

Julian Bream makes a colossal tribute to both composers in this egregious and golden album.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A great and daring mix of pieces performed by the best in the business!.......2006-10-16

I must agree with the prior review - there are SO many classical piano compilations that have the same overplayed Romantic-era pieces on them - and usually not terrific performances of them at that. Decca put together the opposite of your average "piano for relaxation" collection here. I'll just make a quick list of why this is better than the rest - an atypical review for me, but necessary to point out why this album stands far above what's generally a lousy genre of compilation CDs.

-The first CD is generally Romantic-period and prior music and progresses in roughly chronological order. The second is composed of primarily 20th century pieces - sure, the order is not totally faithful on either CD, but it is refreshing to see a collection arranged so that one can literally listen to the trends in piano composition grow and fade.

-Decca chose top-notch pianists, many of whom are widely regarded as the supreme interpreters of Composer X. For this reason, you have a very simple piece like Grieg's Notturno played with an emotional urgency and crystal clarity you're unlikely to hear from a lesser pianist than Emil Gilels, or a very complex, often banged-out piece like Prokofiev's Toccata navigated fearlessly by the Argentine goddess of piano, Martha Argerich.

-They showed some guts in their choice of pieces. Sure, no Schoenberg appears here, but this is not your typical conservative don't-rock-the-boat piano collection. Bartok's aggressive, relentless Allegro Barbaro pairs wonderfully with the Ravel and Prokofiev toccatas on either side of it on disc 2; a quick tour of Rachmaninoff's Preludes follows an incredible rendition of Balakirev's harrowingly difficult Islamey. One of the most beautiful piano works ever composed - and ignored by 99% of piano music compilers - makes an appearance in the middle of disc 2: Granados's Goyescas (Quejas, o la maja y el ruiseñor), an infinitely subtle and sublime - and modern twist on the late Romantic/Impressionistic piano tradition - handled impeccably by the composer's compatriot and student Alicia de Larrocha.

I haven't said quite enough about CD 1 - sure, their choices of Chopin, Schubert, and Liszt works are good as well. But I'm showing where my heart lies in solo classical piano - impressionists and early 20th century composers, I feel, are as good as it gets. Für Elise makes its token appearance, but even it seems well contextualized on the first CD between the immortal Adagio of the Moonlight Sonata and Chopin's delightfully simple Nocturne in E Flat, which immediately recalls Roman Polanski's "The Pianist" for those who have seen it.

In short, CD 1 and 2 share the unique qualities of a careful yet daring selection of piano pieces played by indisputable masters of the instrument. If CD1 is good as gold, then CD2 is platinum. Simply amazing. Thanks Decca!

5 out of 5 stars Pure.......2004-06-12

This album has it all, believe it or not. There are loads of cheesy #1 blah blah albums that are horridly popular. Sure, there are many well-known pieces on this, such as Alla Turca, the Adagio Sostenuto of the Moonlight, Fur Elise and the Minute Waltz. But almost everything else is relatively unheard of outside of the closely knit piano community.

That said, these CD's opened my eyes to some of the greatest piano works of all time, those including: Schubert Impromptu in A-flat, Rondo Capriccioso, Liszt's Liebestraum, Liszt's second Hungarian Rhapsody, Islamey, all three Rachmaninoff preludes, Granados' Goyescas, and Prokofiev's Toccata in C. I have begun learning a good many of these pieces as a result.

This set will not dissapoint. Do yourself a favor and buy it.

2 out of 5 stars Not the best recording.......2007-07-15

The songs were played flawlessly, however, it's really quiet. When you turn up the volume, you will hear hissing in the background.

5 out of 5 stars Stunning Goldberg Aria.......2006-02-21

Who is the performer of that amazing recording of the Goldberg Aria??!?! It must be Gould.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2006-01-29

Nice set of songs. I enjoyed it a lot, I see no reason why anyone wouldn't like this CD set.

5 out of 5 stars Piano Perfection!.......2005-10-16

Saw it on TV and thought the music was beautiful, but forgot to write the information down... but managed to buy it online (now I see it frequently at the music stores)and I absolutely love this album -- all my favorite pieces! (I'm not big on writing comments or reviews, but was compelled by the artistry and passion I heard throughout this CD!)

5 out of 5 stars A Classic in Every Sense!.......2005-10-12

I overheard some people at the record store talking about this album - one guy was actually a piano teacher and couldn't stop raving about it. I bought the album on his recommendation and couldn't be happier - it's stunningly beautiful. Beethoven's "Moonlight" sonata is haunting and Chopin's "Minute Waltz" is spectacular in its precision and speed! This will make a great stocking stuffer at Christmas for my friends (... I'm getting them now cause I've gone to a couple places and they're out of stock). If you're into piano, this is truly a classic!

5 out of 5 stars Beware! two old CDs reissued with a new name.......2006-08-02

I bought this CD with great anticipation because I love Spanish music of this era. To my disappointment, this was not a new recording, but a reissue of two CDs I already own: "1492: Music from the Age of Discovery" and "Traveler." If you don't have these CDs already, this double set is a great bargain. But check your CD rack before buying!

    5 out of 5 stars A reworking of a prior disc - but now with 2 CDs.......2006-01-27

I was pleased to see that one of my favorite CDs had not really gone out of print, but was reworked into this title and now with a bonus CD. Even though I own the original "Music from the Age of Discovery 1492", I'll probably buy this disc just for the extras. Very nice mood music, lots of variety, exotic instruments and lovely voices.

5 out of 5 stars perfect by candlelight or in the office.......2000-10-20

i've owned this CD for several years, and never tire of it. weather i'm curled up with a book, or just in the office with headphones on, it's appropriate for any occasion (outside a raucus party). i highly suggest it if you're interested in exotic, mystical, and festive tunes.

    4 out of 5 stars Very nice.......2007-01-14

The other reviewers have covered it all. I want to add that it is hard to find a good recording of A Mighty Fortress (it is on track 1), so I really value this one.

This CD does not contain the usual classical organ pieces, which is nice since most people already have plenty of other CDs contianing that material.

Be aware that after the loudness of track 1, the rest of the tracks are mostly quiet and reflective. Just a note in case you were expecting something more loud.

5 out of 5 stars A great program from the world's best romantic organ.......2003-01-05

The enormous Aeolian-Skinner organ in New York's Riveside Church was built over two decades under the direction of Virgil Fox who plays on this recording. Although it's not the largest organ in the world, or even in New York, it is the definitive American Symphonic Organ. There are dozens of different divisions surrounding the church sanctuary (not just one big box at one end of the church) and there are tens of thousands of pipes. Many stops beautifully imitate orchestral instruments. The organ is renown for its extensive "celeste" stops--stops where two ranks of pipes, one slightly out of tune, play together to provide a shimmering ethereal quality.

The organ's resources are so vast that many performers have difficulty in controling the sound. They play either whisper soft or deafeningly loud. But Fox was perfectly in control, and you'll hear the full range of the organ building to exciting climaxes and then gently pulling back.

There's an interesting story about the (analog) recording process. Since the pipes were closely miked, whenever Fox changed stops, the tape would pick up an ungodly crash of the pneumatic stop mechanism. During recordings, at each change, Fox would pause for 5 or 6 beats, and the stop change would later be cut out of the tape. This led to some interesting glitches in the rhythm of the finished pieces, but those of us who've loved this program for 20 years since it first came out on LP wouldn't have it any other way.

The program is interesting, with many relaxing familiar tunes. If you own one CD of this fabulous organ, this should be the one.

5 out of 5 stars What Can I Say - Excellent Organ Music!.......2002-12-14

I first heard this collection in 1968 when I bought it on 8-track cartridge. Not one boring piece on it! The music on this CD and the organ used to make the recording, plus V. Fox himself are combined to make this CD indispensible to those who really like "classical" organ music. As far as I'm concerned, if you're in the market for only one classical organ CD, do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy and play this one 'cause you'll only wind up buying the rest of the Fox collection.

This collection is definitely the flagship in terms of piece selection, interpretation, and musicianship. Second only to the organ in the Atlantic City Convention Center, the Riverside Church Aeolian-Skinner as heard on this CD is guaranteed to pull out every emotion every single time you play it.

Includes the rare and beautiful Dvorak "Songs My Mother Taught Me", played with the full dynamic and tonal range by argueably the best organist to date (whatever happened to E. Power Biggs?)!

5 out of 5 stars The Art Of Virgil Fox.......2000-05-29

In classical circles, Virgil Fox has been the leading name for classical organ in the last several decades. He has done more to popularise classical organ than any other performer. The Art of Virgil Fox is only one example, but an excelent one. The clarity of the recording itself is unsurpassed. The organ is extremly hard to record and still have the depth of the insturment itself, as well as the artistry of the performer. It usually sounds like a big loud thing. However, between the recording technique and the artist himself, it is excelent. One gets a feeling of emence space and tends to drift with the music. Which is the most anyone can hope for. I had the privalage to meet Virgil Fox sometime before his death, and it was to date one of the most memorable times of my life. He was a great artist and human being. This recording only scratches the surface of his talent. It is definatly a must have item. After listening to this album, all preconcieved notions of "classical music" will blow out the window. I strongly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars You need this one!.......1999-12-29

This CD is comprised of transcriptions for organ. Ole Virgy explores the vast tonal resources of the wonderful Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ in the Riverside Church. From the bombastic chords of "A Mighty Fortress" to the lush sounds of Liszt's Liebestraume No. 3, you will find yourself immersed in beautiful auditory impressions. No one knows transcriptions like Ole Virgy. This would make a nice addition to the Virgil Fox collection, but only after you have bought his Encores CD.

5 out of 5 stars LOOKIN AT THE STARS!.......2005-09-13

it's like there are two different deborahs. the anything is possible to body mind soul to myob deborah, and the "think with your heart" to "deborah" (or moonchild)" to "colored lights" deborah...

the 2 collide on this cd.

she has writers come in to work with her on this effort. i can't say that she's running from her past... it's admirable. MYOB is a perfect connection to her older self, and newer self.

    "M.Y.O.B."
the song is a celebration of deborah. it's risky. it's good. it is elemental of every stage in her career, and it's fun. i love the remix at the end of the album with the "work it out." rap included. the song kicks. 'nuff said.

    "YOUR SECRET"
not my favorite deborah song. i like her for different things, but i can't say it's a bad song. it still jams. i wonder if it's her call out to all of us, saying... hey, i know you're out there; speak up for me!!

    "WHAT YOU WANT"
oooh. perfection, yet again. this is a killer song. it deserved a place on modern radio. it's energy is great. you'll dance your butt off to this one, and feel good about yourself doing so. she's fun.

    "DOWN THAT ROAD"
i love this sound from her, and the songwriting is incredible. reminisent of "I Can't" from "Deborah" (or "Moonchild"). i'd like to see the 2 on an album next to one another holding hands... it flows along just above land.

    "THE ONE"
the line "if i could i would remember to forget you." makes me think of another line "and remember to forget" from "Any Other Man" that shows up on her "Memory Lane Vol I" album. To me, "Any Other Man" is the superior song by far!! and so it shadows over "the one" for me, and i would've rather seen it here in it's place.

    "WISHING YOU WERE HERE"
this is maybe my favorite deborah song ever. her "mmm hmm" is just exactly what i want from her. her long island soul. i know she can hang, and here she does. she's tough, and she knows how it goes.

when the album first came out, and i of course could not find it anywhere. i downloaded a remix of this song that was listed on the then napster prog called "Ybor Mix." because i lived in Tampa, Florida at the time, i couldn't resist, and that remix blows the hell out of this version. if it's a valid remix or not, it's amazing. if you can find it, you should. it's intense. that remix should've been the lead off single for this album!! the clubs would've been all over that... but then it's deborah, so... rules just somehow don't apply.

    "WHAT PART OF NO"
okay, she already did, "when i say no" so... it's sorta repeating the point, right? her voice though, is steller here, and this is the better of the two "I SAD NO" songs. like i said, she can hang. she comes out with this soul sound that just blows me away.

    "IN BLUE"
why does this song remind me of the "anything is possible" album? i guess deborah and the color blue have a long history. she sounds wonderful here. a very good song. "i guess he likes me in blue." aww.

    "JADED"
it's strange that when i think about it, this is probably my 2nd favorite song on the album after "wishing you were here." she knows she can sing this song, and she does, without apology. very cool song.

    "KNOCK THREE TIMES"
ok.... i kinda don't get it. but it really rocks, and is so much fun. where did this come from???!!!! speaking of florida, this reminds me of my time there, big time.

summer, palm trees, and water =) love it. love it.

    "MYOB DANCE MIX"
    we covered this. hott!

"WISHING YOU WERE HERE (YBOR MIX)"
we covered this too. this is my favorite of all her stuff. it's so full of life. [...]

    4 out of 5 stars Can't leave the trademark..........2004-02-29

She looks so more mature (with a brunette hair colour) in the picture inside..hehe. Well, the single "M.Y.O.B." looks very nice beat..with a cool arrangement on the voices. Seems like a new and fresh melody for Debbie. I think she wants to follow the trends with tried something new. But, her trademark-which is have an easy listening music-still there. That's good. So, her fans (like me) didn't loose what we ever heard a long long time ago, when she still teenager. Her colaboration with ex singer trio 'Wilson Phillips'-it's Chynna Phillips-really really cool. Nice meldoy with a romantic lyric. And at track 8 called "In Blue" have a very smooth melody. Nice song with a nice music. Even this song can make us remembering to Latin Diva-Gloria Estefan. But this is a great song Debbie ever wrote. Too bad, she didn't do much for the promotion of this album. A lil' bit not easy to get this record in my country.
