3 out of 5 stars Aaron Lewis Cover of Pearl Jam's "Black".......2006-03-21

I purchased this CD for the Aaron Lewis cover of Pearl Jam's "Black". His version of the song on this CD is awesome. The rest of the CD is mediocre although there is some interesting music on it.

2 out of 5 stars Not worth the money.......2005-09-06

Just "blah", nothing to see here folks. Pearl Jam fans will be especially insulted by Aaron Lewis's attempt at "Black."

1 out of 5 stars No no no no no.......2004-07-05

This album was extremely disappointing. It's all too much of the same. It's boring. And worst of all, the lead singer of Staind does a remake of "Black" that doesn't even compare to the original. Waste of time, waste of money.

4 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars.......2003-12-21

the only reason to buy this cd is because it has STP on it. Linkin Park sucks!!!!!!!!!Staind is 0k

3 out of 5 stars The Worst of the Best.......2002-08-13

Family Values: This phrase brings up images of apple pie, 1950's living, conservative ideals... not on this tour, sucker.

Three times now, nu metals greatest bands have toured the nation to packed audiences. Three times have great live albums been put out with superior sound quality, rare and new tracks, and bonus features.

Unfortuntetly, this CD is the worst thing to come out with the Family Values label on it.

Produced by John Abraham, the headliners, Stone Temple Pilots (Who I am not very fond of and do not think they belong here) are over represented. Staind, a good band appears with two songs that we have all heard, many, many times, and a new track we wish we hadn't. Static X fare well, though I wish that "Cold" had not been included, and "Black And White" put in it's place. Linkin Park, a great band, include none of their best songs (Papercut, In The End, Crawling, Pushing Me Away) but show one a very good version of "Runaway". Deadsy, a very promising band signed to KoRn's Elementree Records, is under represented with only one track, their first single and a Rush cover, "Tom Sawyer". I like that song a lot.

One thing I really liked about this album is that multiple artists make appearances on other bands songs. Aaron Lewis joins up with Linkin Park and STP, Chester from LP sides with STP, Exeter from Deadsy shows up on a Static X track, and I couldn't tell who was saying what! This little twist will make fans seek the tracks, though they are not that different, but give us what a live album should: a new twist on older stuff.

The CD also comes with "bonus" video footage, included because no VHS or DVD release will be made for this tour, as with the others. Wow. What a disappointment. Instead of energetic live performances, pyrotechnics, behind the scenes gag reels, interviews, etc, we get a choice of:

Static-X putting on makeup, Aaron Lewis of Staind getting a tatoo, Staind riding on scooters, and a terribly drab, borring music video of Aaron Lewis performing the disk's new track, a cover of "Black" by Pearl Jam. It is five minutes of him sitting on a dark stage with an acoustic guitar. No direction, change, or anything visually interesting. Even the song...

Plus, we get links to each of the bands websites (availalble in the booklett) and FIVE pictures that cannot be saved to disk. Also in the booklett.

One thing that really made me mad is that there is about 50 minutes of music here. A CD holds 74 or 80 minutes! A disk from such a huge tour should be jam packed!

Yes, I realize that room had to be saved for the video footage, but since It all ... anyways, I'm sure most fans wouuld rath have another half hour of music.

Family Values 2003 is in the works, Kid Rock, Cold, Adema, System Of A Down, and Linkin Park are all interested. I hope it works out better than this did.

If you want a good live CD, pick up Family Values 1999 or 1998. Both are excellent. Get this if your a completist.
