By kicking off with "Who Wants To Rock?" and "Pure Rock Fury," it's clear that Clutch's agenda is to rock, sans qualifiers and with a boatload of conviction. Neil Fallon's darkly menacing vocals and the band's psychedelic-influenced power rock is reminiscent of Fu Manchu and Monster Magnet, or, to a lesser degree, Danzig. While a live album isn't likely to earn Clutch its well-deserved fame, the 15 cuts here provide a fine overview for fans and an ideal intro for the uninitiated. Smooth, funky, gut-punching bass and smart, sly songs set Clutch apart. From the aggro jam in "Careful With That Mic" to the edgy "Pure Rock Fury" to the Henry Rollins-like "Impetus," Live at the Googolplex captures Clutch at its peak. While this potent band's is best experienced in concert, a live recording is the next best thing. --Katherine Turman

Henry Rollins? Danzig?! Monster Magnet?.......2007-04-30
I love Amazom. I find loads of deals on used CD's from these guys. I plug Amazon to all people I meet into heavy music. But Please DO NOT listen to the review listed above! The day Clutch sounds like any of those bands is the day you accidentally (hopefully) turn on Oprah and see her toking a huge doob and reciting Slayer lyrics backwards. In defense of Clutch, one of the greatest stoner rock bands on the planet, I had to write this review. And ANY live Clutch is killer and deserves to be bought.
Katherine Turman should not review Clutch.......2006-10-17
I think Katherine's review sucks. She has no basis for comparison. Fu Manchu? pshaw. I don't see how Fu Manchu is anything like Clutch. Danzig? Uh, your mother. Best not to bring Monster Magnet into the fray, either. All great bands, but all unique and different from the guys from Baltimore.
I feel bad that she was saddled with this review, as she clearly did her best without having some comparable bands in mind, and indeed, who does compare Clutch with?
But, sucky sucky review not so lucky.
Clutch in concert is one of the tightest, most precise outfits I have witnessed. The experience, for me, grazed on respect, flirted with incredulity, feasted on power, reveled in charging bliss.
I'm buying this disc based upon all that. And the fact that every other Clutch album sits on a rack opposite (and a little to the right) the CD player in envy of the next time its go-round number comes up.
Could you please turn the vocals up?.......2006-09-15
If the vocals were any louder on this cd, it would have to have been called "Neil Fallon Yells For an Hour at the Googleplex".
Clutch.......2005-09-21
Great CD. I have been listening to Cluth now since 1993. They are the superb rock band. With their mix of all types of genre's and great lyrics, certainly a good buy.
Keeping it tight live.......2004-01-25
Clutch has a reputation for taking its songs in different places live. In this disc, they chose performances which are fairly brief. The only bit of jamming is on Big News. The best thing about the disc (for me) is the way it rehabilitates the songs on "Transnational Speedway League". I don't like that disc very much, but I mistook the live versions for new songs. The singing and playing is good throughout, and if you're a Clutch fan, you'll like this disc.
