Exodus puts out a rare stinker!.......2007-06-18
Im not going to go all gushy over Exodus in this review... if your a fan then your already know their sound... if your just starting out then try "another lesson in violence" or "tempo of the damned" or "fabulous disaster"... but this disc sucks... when i saw that people were giving this cd 4 1/2 stars, I felt compelled to offer up my opinion... if your thinking about picking up a Exodus cd by-pass this one, just leave it on the shelf... any of the other ones will serve you better. If you have all of the other exodus cd's and the curiousity is burning you, buyer beware as disappointment awaits. If your looking for pure unadulterated "heavy" then "another lesson in violence" (best live album I've ever heard) is just what the doctor ordered. Just stay away form force of habit. I remember when I first bought "force of habit", I tried to like it for months, listened to it constantly and honestly tried to like the cd... but then it dawned on me... this cd just sux... it is no surprise that after this cd came out that exodus disbanded for awhile... its almost if they were compelled by the record company to produce one more cd to satisfy the terms of their contract and their heart was just not into it. (I think that their next release was on a different label - if im not mistaken) Any way... point is... force of habbit is like a bad habbit... its their worst cd and in my opinion is not even close to 4 1/2 stars.
Not bad, but certainly their worst.......2005-12-30
As contradictory as my review title may be, it is by no means a negative review. In my opinion, this is the worst Exodus album. However, as bad as it may be, this album is still good. Exodus was on a decline by 92'. Drugs, sex and alcohol had certainly taken a toll on them by this time. Nonetheless, they persevered and still delivered some good punches. The first two songs are good. Architect of Pain is an 11 minute song. I don't think any thrash band has ever written an 11 minute song. That's quite impressive. The covers are a bit strange, but well done.
Exodus - 'Force Of Habit' (Capitol).......2005-02-06
'Force Of Habit',is in fact the band's sixth lp.I liked this disc at least as much as I did 'Bonded By Blood'.If you're a big Exodus fan, you're sure to dig this record. As for myself, this is only the second of their recorded works that I've had the pleasure.Heard others say that 'Force...' is a bit more melodic than they've been on past releases.Basically, just good old school speed metal.Tunes that I thought stood out were "Thorn In My Side","Feeding Time",the eleven-minute head smasher "Architect Of Pain" and their two unlikely covers, the Stone's "Bitch" and Elvis Costello's "Pump It Up".Should appeal to fans of Metal Church,Flotsam&Jetsam,Hirax.Overkill and Testament.Sad footnote:not sure as to what the band is doing now,but their vocalist Paul Baloff had passed on awhile back.I'll have to check out some of their other CD's.
Visit your dentist..........2003-08-08
because by the 5th track, your fillings will have come loose. Play it LOUD!

ARCHITECT OF PAIN is a pretty epic song. It's quite perfect.

Maybe it's hard to think of a button accordion and concertina player as a star, but that's precisely what John Kirkpatrick is in some quarters. For well over two decades, he's mined the seam of English traditional music, most specifically the Morris dance tunes, in many ways: as part of the Morris On troupe, a member of Steeleye Span and Brass Monkey, and also leading his own bands. This, a live album recorded in 1995, is real folk-rock, with the emphasis on the folk. Apart from being a highly accomplished instrumentalist, Kirkpatrick also happens to be a very good singer, able to wring the nuances from an old song, as he does to great effect on the epic "Oakham Poachers." With him is some stellar talent from the folk-rock field, who offer precisely the kind of support he needs to make this particular dream a reality. It's well worth remembering that most of this is meant to be dance music, and if you don't find yourself wanting to move about, better check that pulse to make sure you're still alive. --Chris Nickson

Interesting but . . . ........2001-09-07
I found the music interesting but not nearly as much as that of the Brass Monkey or the Carnival band.
