Even Marilyn Manson keeps a layer of latex between himself and the kind of glammy grit collected by the Murderdolls, a side project of guitarists Joey Jordison of Slipknot and Tripp Eisen of Static X. From beneath their blackened fingernails come purpled scraps clawed from the hallowed tombs of the Damned and other groovy ghoulies; "Dead in Hollywood" even name-checks the late horror-movie star Vincent Price. Primarily the brainchild of Jordison, who plays nearly every note on this recording, the raucous punk bombast here mostly conceals any canned atmosphere. While the monotonous "Die My Bride" is pale, the good-time, guitar-driven "Dawn of the Dead" draws blood with a playful sneer. Overall vibe: Every night is Halloween, so let's party! --Ian Christe

Once you "get it", you'll understand.......2007-05-22
The Murderdolls are not punk, metal, Slipknot, The Misfits, Marilyn Manson, Rob/White Zombie,Alice Cooper, or Dope.
The Murderdolls are a mix of shock rock, horror rock, and glam rock. They're music is not meant to be revolutionary, introspective, or taken seriously. They're music is meant to be taken like a B horror movie, a standard plot with b-list actors, and pleanty of cheesy camp and gore. You don't watch it for the amazing special effects, the inspired acting, or the deep story, you watch it because the worse the movie gets, the more fun you have. In that respect, they more than live up to their image. Where they fail, though, is keeping everything together through the entire album. A necrophelia inspired date (She Was A Teenage Zombie), a love song to Regan of The Exorcist (Love At First Fright), and a grave robbing theme song (Grave Robbin' USA) should give you an idea of just how campy and cheesy things get.
The songs do sound the same, and while most of the songs are catchy, some are a little difficult to get into. This is also a love/hate band, so if you don't like them the first time around, you probably won't give them another listen. If you do happen to get into this album, definately check out Wednseday 13's first band, Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13, and his solo work.
Awesome hair metal album for a new generation.......2006-11-27
I grew up with my mom listening to motley crue, poison, faster pussycat, and other stuf like that.I you like those bands and dont mind gorey music, then you would like this cd.
Misfits II.......2006-11-22
I know its been years since this cd was released, and I am saddened there has not been a follow up. I really thought this band would take up where the Misfits left off. Oh well, Wednesday's new album will have to do until these guys can get it together again.
Weak...........2006-03-22
Just the right band to appeal to these Mall dwelling, Hot topic, rebellious teens.....
Your joking, right........2006-02-18
This is a complete copy of other people and their "music" if you call it that. One Marylin Manson is too much, his voice is just Alice Coopers' anyway. Stop cursing, it does not make you cool. The Misfits don't deserve to be mocked like this either. Is completely talentless over the top? Anyone who calls this a metal record should get out of my world, because you don't exist. I appologise for sounding so elitist and stuffy about such a varied genre like metal, but this and many releases in the last 5-10 years in pop-metal and/or nu-metal deserve it.
It really is terrible compaired to what else is out their. Instead, listen to Dark Tranquility, Neurosis, Thursday, Crade of Filth, Rage Against the Machine, Tristantia, , Obituary, Nagflar,etc..Death, Gothic, or Black Metal. Hows that for variety in Metal. Hell, anyone else! Or check out Radiohead, the Killers, The Bravery, or Interpol for Post Glam Punk.
Avoid this and similiar MTV pushed bands at all cost so they will go away. murderdolls, you and the other liers in wait are ruining our music. Please Stop!

'Im perfect,pissed off,beautiful im god'.......2006-08-15
This album is really cool. Its like, heavy(ish) metal meets hair metal meets punk. The vocals may seem a bit like, thin and whiny at the start (not whiny as in simple plan-which is just crying and being a pussy) but whiny as in shreiky-but you'll get used to it and then they should sound pretty cool. But anyway umm,in my opinion almost all the songs on the album rule!Even though quite a lot of them are frankenstein drag queens songs (the lead singer Wednesday13s previous band) the still sound much better.Umm,yeah this is just really cool and a great listen for any metal head.Eh eh ehhhhh.
Valley of the Dolls.......2006-07-28
This is absolutely one of the greatest metal/glam/punk/horror metal albums of all time. They are like a grittier Rob Zombie. Some of the best songs are Love at First Fright (a tribute to the Exorcist), Die my Bride, I Love to Say F***, People Hate Me. Probably their best song is absent from this collection though, it is featured on the soundtrack for Freddy vs Jason. The song is Welcome to the Strange.
If your a fan of Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie and love heavy metal, this is definitly the CD for you, happy listening.
BRILLIANT DUDE!!.......2006-07-04
Wednesday 13 has pulled off something that nobody else has even attempted or even thought of before. Shock rock, punk and glam. Its like motley crue in 1981 fused with a rob zombie theme and the misfits. Its sounds like it would be a disaster, but when you listen to it, you'll find that while definately maintaing a dark and gothic feel, its got some good humorous lyrics as displayed in the song "I Love To Say FU@K". This album also features intensely catchy chouruses and undeniabley original style. Its awesome. Listen to it.
Punk?.......2006-01-24
I don't hear the punk, but I grew up on real punk, so maybe that's why. Anyway, what I do hear is Manson. This is pretty much a bunch of songs equaling Manson's heavier numbers, but with better drums. The songs that aren't like Manson, are more like Guns and Roses or L.A. Guns than punk, but they are still very good. I think it's refreshing to hear some good time music that's just fun to listen to. It's been awhile, if you know what I mean. Good stuff!
Not 'true' punk, but good cross blend.......2005-07-11
When reading the other reviews for this, I would have expected something as Crass as the Sex Pistols, The Exploited, or FEAR. Not at all... This is possibly a modern day punk.
Nonetheless, whatever you want to classify this into, it doesn't matter. I got from it a mix of Fasterpussycat and LA Guns sounding vocals and lyrical attitude. A mix of that type of music, along with a more modern hard rock/punkish sound. Mix THAT with the lyrical content from Alice Cooper and the only true ORIGINAL Misfits, you have a killer album...
Not just for the teens, bot just for 20 somethings, I am in my 30's and love this album. I got this from a 40 something friend of mine... But don't let that stop you, good music doesn't cross boundaries.
WARNING: I would not recommend this for my ten year old... yet. If your kids are mature enough to know the difference between true and make believe, and are responsible enough to not try and take some of the content literally, then maybe after screening this you may deem it appropriate. I for one, am going to keep this hidden from my kids for a while after I get back from Iraq. Titles like People Hate ME, Die My Bride, Let's FWord, and I Do Drugs... You figure it out.
Everyone else, throw your inhibitions aside, take the rollercoaster ride through the morgue, cemetary and the rest of the dark corners, and have fun with this.

Welcome To The Strange.......2006-01-19
This is one of my favorite cd's and is a mix of mad at the world and humor. When you pop the greatness never stops. The only song thats below outstanding is "dawn of the dead". You may be familiar with this band from Wednsday 13(Vocals) from Wednsday 13 and Frankenstien Drag Queens. Or from Joey Jordison (Guitars) which you may recognize as the drummer for Slipknot Joey started the band as a side project but I think it should be his main project I liked this much more than I enjoyed the Slipknot cd's. Each of there songs is kind of like a diffrent short story. I think the extra songs are must have's but I would look to see if they have them on iTunes before buying the cd all over again. I would pick this cd up as fast as I could if I didnt have it. SO GO RIGHT NOW AND BUY THIS CD!
Awesome.......2005-02-04

What the F*ck?.......2003-08-27
These guys are following in the footsteps of Kiss in more ways then one....but at least kiss waited till they had 3 albums before conning their audience into buying the same material re-packaged.
If you count the Frankenstein Drag Queen Albums that over half this material was on before ...this is actually the third repackaging of the same material. I like the songs but come on guys I think this cow has been milked dry...give us some new material.

Joey and Tripp make a great duo.......2003-04-25
This cd rocks! The lead singer, Wednesday 13, was in a band similar to Murderdolls called Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13. A couple of the Murderdolls songs are FDQ songs. The music isn't as heavy as Static-X and Slipknot but it's stil great. Good guitar riffs. Interesting lyrics, such as Kill Miss America. In that song he says,"Tonight I'm the prettiest zombie alive. I don't care what it takes to win the prize...I'm gonna Kill Miss America". Most lyrics are comical horror. I would definitely reccomend buying this cd. The bonus song "Crash Crash" is really great. If you like Slipknot, Static-X, Marilyn Manson or even FDQ you should get this cd!
