Excellent!!! Get all their albums!.......2006-10-26

I own just about all of Hammerfall's albums -- they're all great. I started out with Crimson Thunder (specifically Hero's Return) which I think is one of their better albums so if you're looking to start on one, that's a great choice. With that said, there's nothing wrong with Glory to the Brave. All of Hamemrfall's albums in my opinion will please a metal fan or even a skeptic. Come in with an open mind and if you have an appreciation for medieval/epic themes then you'll quickly fall in love with them as I did. To people who mentioned their grammatical errors in the lyrics -- please have some consideration. They are from Sweden and I find their English to be better than some of my friends'. In fact, I don't think I even notice any errors because I'm so focused on the music (which is what should be focused upon). Please don't comment on someone elses 2nd language because most Americans, myself included, can barely speak theirs.

Again -- Hammerfall is a great band. They revived the genre and set a new precedent for epic/power metal with intriguing medieval themes. Get all of their albums -- open minded curiosity will pay off.

Pure Power Metal.......2006-07-28

I ordered this album, and received the Deluxe Edition (a nice bonus!) It includes the bonus track "Ravenlord" which is a great song, and enhanced features: the music video of Glory To The Brave and desktop wallpaper. Maybe I just lucked out in getting it. Regardless of Deluxe or not, this album is great. It definitely grew on me as well, so give it some time (especially if you're new to power metal). I also strongly recommend Legacy of Kings.

Also, "Child of the Damned" is actually a cover song! (something most fans don't know). The original was recorded by an obscure band named "Warlord." Check them out, they're very cool. They, along with bands like Helloween were big influences on HammerFall.

Let The Hammer Fall!

Good heavy metal.......2006-06-27

Hammerfall is one of the best modern metal bands around today. Most of the other modern so called "metal" bands are nothing but screaming crap. Hammerfall took the best parts of 80's metal and solidified it together with an updated sound. They have a lot of skill and talent. Their songs are powerful and heavy and yet actually have melody that you can follow. You can hear and understand all the words. But again, they are extremely powerful and heavy. They have a constant Middle Age theme running through all their albums which is what makes them unique. It creates a certain mood and flow that connects all the songs on an album.

Now about rating their albums...all 5 of their albums rock! But the last 4 are better than the first. Their first is good heavy metal, much better than most metal bands today, but the songs did not completely "click" and come together. However, that issue was completely gone by the second album! None of their next 4 albums are better than the other. They all are as good as heavy power metal with melodic vocals can get. On each album they further develop their style and introduce a few new things. But... and a very important but... each album still sounds like Hammerfall! They remain true to their sound. So here are the ratings:

HammerFall!!!.......2006-06-02

Hammerfall is an awsome metal band - blending the typical power metal fantasy topics with some speed metal as well - doesn't that go for a lot of power metal bands? Well, this is a must have for power metal fans. If you can, get the Nuclear Blast deluxe edition with a bonus track and a few extra media on it. I really recomment this CD.

If you're into Hammerfall, you might wanna check out Blind Guardian, Dragonforce, and Manowar.

This review is in response to the EXTREMELY ETHNOCENTRIC AND BIGOTED people who are mocking and making fun of this band's grasp of the English language. Do you not know that English is not their native tongue (and if you do know and are still making fun, shame on you!) as they are from Sweden and making fun of people's "broken English" does not constitute a proper review of a band. If you do not like their music, that is perfectly acceptable but please do not make fun of the way they speak, as I know many Americans who have an even worse grasp of this language. The reason this band sounds silly to you, I'm sure is the fact that they make minor grammatical errors in their lyrics, but again how many American bands do this AND THEY'RE FROM THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!! So please let's stick to the reviews of their music and forgo picking apart their lingual skills, ok? Not to mention, how well do speak your second language, if you have one anyway?

He was handsome, hot, had a rich, distinctive voice and was a vulgar SOB, but you had to love baritone Lawrence Tibbett's audacity in falsifying a composer's intentions while he made the music as exciting and flashy as possible. This two-disc collection take from the Stanford University Archives covers his famous roles in Carmen and Barber of Seville, plus his forays into pop tunes and even his rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner." It's an interesting time capsule since Tibbett touch on so many media--even movies. But even though most of these recordings predate his vocal decline in the 1940s, it's mostly for fans only. --David Patrick Stearns

Lawrence Tibbett left a priceless legacy, not only to all baritones who would come after him, but to all singers: It's alright to color outside the lines; it's OK to interpret a role from your own emotions; dare to be different! This is what keeps opera vibrant and viable! From the swaggering Toreador to the chilling Iago to the tender "Under Your Spell" to the glorious "Glory Road," Tibbett proves his point. David Stearns,in his mean-spirited blog says, "for Tibbett fans only." Right! You will be! Just listen to this album!

Another feast for Handelians.......2003-12-25

Here's another astonishing piece for all Handelians. Many of Handel's great pieces have sadly been neglected - just like many of Richard Strauss' operas which have only recently received attention from people like Botstein, Korsten and Sinopoli (deceased). Thankfully, Gardiner and his team took the trouble to record this astonishing masterpiece. I simply love this piece - Saul!! The Monteverdi choir is the best in the world - listen to their stunning virtuosity here. Thank you, Gardiner!!

Excellent music.......2003-09-14

Saul is one of those lesser known works by Handel. I certainly prefer Solomon, the Messiah or Israel in Egypt. Nevertheless, there is plenty of glorious music in Saul. The Monteverdi sings with their customary virtuosity. Casting of solo parts is superb. A bit on the pricey side but this is an investment that will yield rich dividends over a long period of time. Instead of listening to the Messiah all the time, or Solomon or Jephtha, why not be more daring and explore this lesser known work by Handel?

Hammerfall keeps going. If you know Hammerfall you must know Glory to the Brave, the song which gives its name to their first album. Both Glory to the Brave and Ravenlord are good songs. It is worth for 5 bucks. But it is hard to find. You will wait to get it.

This is the first release of the band highland glory, they are in the same style of blind guardian, hammerfall and other melodic power metal bands. It has good singing, standard lyrics for this genre and good riffs without too many interludes or speaking parts that rhapsody is known for. Every band has their own style and highland glory is doing great at theirs.
if you like this style of metal this band you will enjoy and I look forward to more of their music in the future.
