Good... but not essential........2006-02-03
Cradle's third EP is comprised of 2 short instrumentals, 1 cover, 3 updated versions of tracks from their first album and 4 original tracks. The instrumentals are decent, but nothing special as is the cover. The updated versions neither meet nor surpass the originals (with the possible exception of Summer Dying Fast which sounds great). It is the 4 original tracks that should be of greatest interest to anyone looking into this release. All are good but two stand out especially, "All Hope in Eclipse" and "Suicide and Other Comforts". While they do not rank amongst Cradle's best songs, they are very entertaining. Overall this is a good release but recommended only for serious fans of the band. Newcomers are urged to pick up "V Empire... or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein", "Dusk... and Her Embrace" and "Cruelty and the Beast".
Fantastic.......2006-01-29
This LP from Cradle looks like the real change in the band to an exotic and clear Gothic Metal.
The coming of extinction synched to whimpers of my name..........2005-10-01
This is a mindblowing masterpiece by Cradle. Not necessarily an ep, just an interem release. Not a grand concept album, but one with an undercurrent theme that bleeds dangerously into my head whenever I listen to it. I think this album surpassed Midian in many ways, including the symphonics Martin Foul commanded here. This is Cradle at the top of their game, equally as good as Cruelty and Vempire, if not slightly better. A more updated Cradle, still blistering and heavy. Too bad Damnation was after this, they kinda went in a different direction. Best track on here, Suicide and other comforts. The most evolved COF song to date; an album they still have yet to top.
more of an EP in my view but still great.......2005-08-19
this is the cd after Midian. although there are 10 tracks making it an actual cd i still call it an EP because there are only 4 new songs on this album but the other tracks were nicely redone. the intrumental at the begining is really good which leads up to the first song called "All Hope In Eclipse" which has great keyboard work into some cymbal crashing and double bass pounding, later on in the song some even better guitar lead and riffs made me love this song. Born in a Burial Gown is another new one, yet again great keyboard work that song gets a 4 from me. a redone song from The Principle of Evil Made Flesh called "Summer Dying Fast" on this track is cleaned up a bit and more understandable on this cd. like i mentioned on my review for "TPOEMF" it was produced to were i couldnt even hear Dani so this was a bit better for me to hear this song redone. No Time To Cry is a cover that Cradle has done and i like this version of the song alot more only cause they incorporate more to the song than the original. next track is The Principle of Evil Made Flesh wich is redone and also the title track off the cd you guessed it The Principle of Evil Made Flesh funny enough, once again i like this version better for the same reasons as Summer Dying Fast. Suicide and other Comforts is the best song on this cd in my view. beautiful sound and sort of slow and really good lyrics. Dinner at Deviants Palace if im not mistake is a prayer said backwards and it was ok but its not like i would get excited when that track is being played. Black Godess Rises II is aparantly part 2 to the original the black godess rises on yet again The Principle of Evil Made Flesh. and finally Scorched Earth Erotica. this song was a single and at first when i heard it that was my favorite song on the cd but after listening to it over and over i found a new favorite still a great song. so in essence this is an EP laced with the bands favorite songs off of The Principle of Evil Made Flesh remade making it a 10 track EP/LP
Suprised.......2005-06-25
First off, I want to establish the fact that I am not an "Underground Only" metalhead. I don't instantly reject any and all music that has ever been played on the radio, simply because it is "popular" I get really annoyed by people who claim that they think outside the box when in reality they base thier every word on what everyone who's "popular" thinks or likes or does. They try so hard to be non-mainstream that they end up being more of a conformist than the mainstream people are. I just listen to music that I like, and since I never listen to the radio or watch TV, I have nothing to base my opinion on other than what I hear and enjoy. My Girlfriend's younger brother burned me a mix cd a while back, because I let him listen to some Neurosis(THE BEST BAND EVER) and he gave me a cd of the bands he likes. It had two songs off this EP on it and I immediately went out and bought this cd. I was very impressed with how good this CD was, and how well put together these songs sounded. I'm usually not a big fan of so called "Black Metal, or Death Metal" or whatever you call this kind of music. But I love the keyboards and how well they go along with the guitars. Another band that I really like that makes very good use of keyboards is Rammstein. Now I know Rammstein is not black metal, and it's probably too mainstream for most of the people who will read this review but they are very talented. Anyway, this is the first CD of this Genre that I have ever bought, and it is very good from start to finish. It's an EP with only 10 songs, but is over 50 minutes long, which is longer than the majority of LP's out anymore. I would recommend this cd to anyone who enjoys good heavy music, regardless of what genre they force themselves to be associated with.

Customer Reviews:
Great Album.......2005-08-06
Cradle of Filth always seem to release much more consist material when working in an EP setting, and Bitter Suites to Succubi is a shining example of this.
The atmospheric opus "Sin Deep My Wicked Angel" is leaps and bounds above the opening instrumentals the band has written in the past, (aside from the Midian album.) This track leads in to the brutal and fast paced "All Hope In Eclipse" a new track, as well as my favortie song on this EP. It is followed by "Born in a Burial Gown" also new, and the video for which is included on this very disc. "Summer Dying Fast" is a re-recording from the band's first album The Principle of Evil Made Flesh (1994). It is very nice to hear a new interpretation of this classic track. This is followed the band's cover of UK goth-rockers The Sisters of Mercy's "No Time to Cry." This is a very interesting track, as COF flawlessly blend their black metal style with classic goth rhythm and effects, very nice indeed. "The Principle of Evil Made Flesh" is yet another re-recording from the debut album of the same name. It is very well done, and at times better than the original. "Suicide and Other Comforts" is a new, multi-paced track which starts with piano and ends with black metal franzy. "Dinner at Deviant's Palace" is the second instrumental for this EP. Very atmospheric. The vocals used in this track are actually from a recitiation of The Lord's Prayer which was recorded, and then played backwards, a nice touch. "The Black Goddess Rises II" is a re-recording of a track which first appeared on the bands third demo tape "Total F***ing Darkness (1993), again on their debut album (the aforementioned Principle of Evil Made Flesh), and now it makes its latest appearance in 2001 on this EP. This is the most mature version of the song, but I personally miss the piano used on the Principle... version. "Scorched Earth Erotica" Is the final track of this EP, it is another fast-paced and brutal track, with plenty of guitar effects and even a few vocal effects. The band also recorded a video for this song, and it can be found on the Heavy, Left-Handed and Candid DVD and VHS.
If you enjoy this EP, you should check out Cradle of Filth's past two EPs "Vempire" (1996) and "From the Cradle to Enslave" (1999). Both are great, and at times more fulfilling than the band's full length albums.

Metal Genius.......2004-05-06
I just recently became a fan of Cradle, and this was the first CD that i acctually owned of thiers. From the demonic "sin deep my wicked anger" the first track you know this album will just blow your timid mind away. On to the explosive "all hope lies in ecplise" and all the way thru till the last track this album is absolute musical genious. I can understand how some people dont like this music but thats because they dont understand it. For the old man who listens to opera i suggest him to listen to the last minute of "summer dying fast" and still try to tell me that these guys arent talented.
