Great Movie!.......2007-07-19

True 80s classic for that heavy metal band headbanger...at one time, this movie was awesome when i was a teen, however, watching it now is "eh!..its OK"...wow..from "awesome" to "OK"...man!..times have change when you grow up..lol. Anyways, its always great to see a "younger" Gene Simmons and Ozzy (which were small roles by the way)..those were the days. But Price in this movie just sucks and it kinda sadden me that at one time they wanted us "teens" to take this movie as "real horror" film..yikes!. However, if you get this film, get it for the music and get it for great memories..other that..its a rental at best.

Ah an 80's Flashback..........2007-05-04

When I first watched this movie, back in the 80's. I loved it. I still know all the songs by heart. So when I saw it on Amazon. I was like awesome..... It was a great movie!!! It has the 80's flare and of course great songs. Not to mention Gene Simmons & Ozzy Osborne. If you grew up in the 80's you will get this movie. If you didn't grow up in the 80's, you won't get this movie! lol

Wonderful Cheese.......2007-04-25

I was a heavy metal fan and a horror fan, but even back then, this movie was a 2&1/2 star product at best. It was great fun to see Ozzy play the reactionary preacher, but for me it was all about [SPOILER ALERT]
Genie (Elise Richards) getting seduced, undressed, and molested in the backseat by a demon named Zeek!

This steamy scene is worth the price of the DVD,
[SPOILER ALERT] if you're into watching adorable sweaty girls writhe and moan as their clothes slowly and magically unbutton and come peeling off.

'Trick or Treat' is a god-awful good movie experience.......2007-04-10

This is one for the 1986 time capsule...

'Trick or Treat' is an obvious product of the suits in Hollywood twidling their thumbs in the board room until one brainiac leaned forward and blurted: "hey, all the kids are into butt-metal right now... how about a sexually ambiguous butt-metal frontman who returns from the grave to kill... and play the high school PROM!!!!"

Genius.

Yeah, it stars the geek who played 'Skip' from 'Family Ties'... and yes we get eye-rolling cameos by Gene Simmons of KISS and Ozzy Osbourne, but man if this little horror turd isn't an unintentional laugh-a-minute flick set to some awesomely bad heavy metal music.

The film centers around high school outcast Eddie Weinbauer, who just can't seem to fit in with the popular crowd. His hatred for his awkwardness is only outweighed by his hardcore love for everything HEAVY METAL, and in particular, rockin' frontman (and apparent political mouthpiece for the 80's generation) Sammi Curr.

Sammi meets an untimely death in a hotel fire, and Eddie is crushed by the news... until he gets a present from Gene Simmons the day before Halloween.

The KISS bassist (but here playing a local radio DJ) hands over a record of Sammi's unreleased music. Eddie plays it, then the record plays itself (I know, bear with me here), and it turns out the newly barbecued Sammi Curr is using the record to communicate with Eddie to help him become cool.

Wackiness ensues... people die... and best of all, YOU get to laugh as it all unfolds.

I caught this ON DEMAND and my girlfriend and I oddly enough fell in love with its cheesy, 80's feel. The DVD is a piece of arse... one of the worst I've ever come across. But, if it's the only way I can own 'Trick Or Treat', I'll take it for six bucks. Maybe we'll get a special 10-Disc edition in the near future.

Trick or Treat is a cool horror flick.......2007-03-20

I've seen this movie the first time on COMCAST on demand & then after viewing it,I've decided to purchase this movie, because it's so cool, especially with two great metal legends of both bands KISS & Black Sabbath Gene Simmons & Ozzy Osbourne who both star in this movie. I must say that I'm very happy with my purchase of the dvd "Trick or Treat".

A creaking-door sound introduces this folksy, downright perky CD of original or newly arranged children's songs such as "Your Bones" ("your thigh bone's connected to your knee bone," etc.) and a hauntingly beautiful version of "Ghost of John," with deep, mournful cello and flute. First graders from Crest View Elementary School in Boulder sing, scream, or giggle along with these festive songs about pumpkins, skeletons, bats, witches, monsters, and ghosts. Sue Schnitzer sings and plays guitar, but a bass, fiddle, keyboard, harmonica, flute, drums, and a cello join in as well. Pleasantly eerie tunes like "All Skin and Bones" are punctuated by long "ooooohs" and plenty of repetition that make it fun for kids to sing along even without knowing all the lyrics. The CD ends with a minute's worth of very silly Halloween riddles such as "Why did Dracula have no friends? Because he's a pain in the neck." (Maniacal giggles follow.) Wonderful Non-scary Halloween music.......2007-01-09

THis is a great collection of catchy Halloween tunes that make young children smile. I have a 2.5 year old and a 4.5 year old. There isn't anything scary about the CD. It is GREAT!!! Infact, at Christmas time, the kids were still asking to play the Halloween CD!!!!

Great Halloween CD for Kids.......2002-10-04

This CD is loads of fun. We can't take it out of our car becasue our daughter always asks for it from the back seat. She enjoys hearing kids singing along and the sound effects. We (parents) like the music and the fact that it doesn't sound like a "kiddy" CD.

As a professional audio engineer, It's rare to find material recorded in the last few years that isn't "over produced". This recording caspulizes the essence of the performer with very little studio "tricks". a must have for audio engineers, live and studio.

Another stunning piece of work from Stephen Schwartz.......2005-07-15

How has the, in my opinion, often underrated Stephen Shwartz followed up his massive success of 'Wicked'? Another big budget Broadway blockbuster? Another high-profile movie? No. Instead he has given us a truly beguiling score for a small-scale family musical with a young cast.

The quality of his writing (and, indeed, the performances on this cast recording) is of just as high a quality as 'Wicked', 'Children of Eden' and the neglected gem that is 'The Baker's Wife' (check it out if only to hear the absolutely magical 'Meadowlark').

There are elements of his previous work in 'Captain Louie' (even going back to 'Godspell'), so it is guaranteed that if you like his writing in any way, you will get a huge buzz from this new show.

By the way, don't think that, because this is a cast of young people, the complexity of his writing is in any way compromised - these young people are challenged and more than rise to that challenge!

Superb listening!

One of the best kept secrets in music.......2001-07-18

This album was the first Paul Brady album I ever heard, since have Spirits Colliding and Songs and Crazy Dreams. Such gems! Spirits has Bela Fleck and the Wooten Brothers, the Corrs on back-up on a few songs (Just in Time, WOW!) Songs and Crazy Dreams is a compilation of early 'greatest hits'. Like all these other reviewers, many, many comparisons to Van Morrison, but Paul Brady never made it to 'the radio' in the US, only to musicians who have been covering his songs (very, very well, I might add) for years. His bluesy rhythms and riffs are balanced with gut-wrenching soulful heart breaking ballads that speak to the universal truths of heartache, found love, lost love and , many times, incredibly hopeful,funny and uplifting lyrics (hear The World is What You Make It on Spirits Colliding for a taste).

Get in on the best kept secret in the industry. ANYTHING by Paul Brady is money well spent, and this album tops the list.

An Irish Classic........2000-03-18

Paul Brady came to my attention in 1991 via a video for "Nobody Knows" on VH1. I had never heard of him before but with one view/listen to "Nobody Knows" I went out and purchased Trick or Treat. Since that time I have become a fan of Paul Brady. He'd been around much longer than I thought, and it's great that his early recordings have been re-released and digitally remastered. I chose Trick or Treat to review because I think it's a great place to start. I guess Brady could be conceptualized as Irish adult contemporary folk rock. He's a better songwriter than Chris DeBurgh and more folk-sounding. I guess he could be compared to Van Morrison or Bob Geldof in ways. Paul Brady is just sincere music for adults. Though I was 17 when I bought Trick or Treat, 9 years later it still sounds great and the songwriting still rings true. Paul has written songs that other artists have covered such as "Paradise is Here" on Tina Turner's 1986 Break Every Rule cd and "Luck of the Draw" on Bonnie Raitt's 1991 Luck of the Draw cd. I'd recommend Trick or Treat for any rock collector.

.i havent let this leave my rotation of cds in a while.
so this is yet another greg ginn project he was into a couple of years ago.if you dont know the guy he is the guitarist behind the mighty black flag.so i must have to say that this is probably his most hardcore project he has done.with some kick #ss guitar and insane singing buy new guy reece.some of the songs kind of remind me of not early black flag but of the english hardcore like maybe discharge or crass.with a little more groove steady thing.the other fine musicans are his members of his other band GONE.this album has definately alot of humor and they do a little ragging on some of todays bands so if you like that thing in your hardcore. you are in for a treat.

Some of the songs on this album like get the party started are not halloween songs:
1. Get the party started:I like this song, but in halloween cd's it is just not fit
2.I'm your boggie man:This song is really cool. It is great for dancing
3.Ghostbusters: I've never seen the movie, but when you hear the song you kinda know what it is about:Capturing ghosts
4.Addams Grovve:My Abseloute FAVORITE. this song is so good i have them in cds i make and it is not halloween songs
5.Chicken Dance: This song is funny. It has no sining in it so I ussaly skip over it
6.Monster Mash: This song is good too. It is funny
7.Time Warp: I like this song. It's kinda annoying though
8.Men in Black: This song does not have to do with halloween. It is in the men and black movie!
9.Hand's Up(Give me your heart):This song is great. One of my favorites
