This album is fine!.......2007-02-26

Despite the negative comments certain people have left, I believe this album to be fine. It's very atmospheric and the vocals don't sound too much different. It's a first release, so obviously it isnt as good as some of their later albums but really it isnt that bad. And in response to that comment about the keyboards sounding like carnival music: They definitely do not. Far from carnival music actually. Guess that person doesnt know his sounds very well.

For all you Cradle of Filth haters, also:
Cradle of Filth is an amazing band. Not only do they not sound like pointless noise like a lot of other black metal bands, but their lyrics and vocals and instrumentals are all amazing. Who cares if they came to sound more commercial? It's their prerogative and personally I think they came to sound a lot better.

Another band that I USED to like...........2007-02-24

..But now that I've been introduced to some much, much more evil metal (Morbid Angel, Slayer, Hellhammer, et cetera), I could care less about this band. In fact, only one of their albums I still listen to anymore these days ("Damnation and a Day") and even that album gets on my nerves. Dani Filth (pretty accurate name) has possibly one of the worst "evil" voices I've ever heard! The guitarists prevail in churning out some pretty cool stuff once in awhile but that's about it. There's no bass (well, there might be one, I just can't hear it), the keyboards are lame, the drummer feels like he can beat on anything he wants (which does NOT make music, I'm afraid. Nice try, though), and overall, this band just flatout doesn't do it for me anymore.

I know I'm probably wasting my time and you CoF fans will probably bash me (and my good buddy Comrade Ren) with "flamez of DOOM!!" and nonhelpful votes, but not everyone will like this band, you know. Get over it! Just listen to any band that Comrade Ren below me listed. And you fanboys/fangirls try to realize that CoF isn't real black metal (Dimmu Borgir is real black metal, my friends!).

Undoubtedly the worst black metal band ever........2007-02-23

Maybe not since Cradle of Cr@p isn't really black metal. This is about as evil and chilling as a crying baby. Harsh and irritating, yes, but evil? Nope. This is f@ggoth nu-metal, "black metal" for your typical nu-metal kids too afraid to listen to real metal. God I hate Dani's voice, and the music is awful. No bass, mediocre guitars, lame keyboards, and terrible drumming. I'd rather rip my d1ck off and throw it in Lake Michigan than listen to these guys.

For truly evil metal albums (not just black metal) listen to Bathory's "Blood Fire Death," Celtic Frost's "Morbid Tales," Nocturnus's "The Key," Morbid Angel's "Altars of Madness" (this is godly), Slayer's "Hell Awaits," and Hellhammer's "Apocalyptic Raids" for starters.

Incredible. Cradle of Filth's first full-release is a masterpeice. Released in 1994, it is a prime example of what Dani Filth can do with his voice.

It is definately a must have for anyone who actually likes music, at all, EVER.

First off, I have to warn that the sound production is not the best part of this album, giving it a very rough sound as opposed to the digital sound quality of later albums. But this is some of COF's best material, including "The Forest Whispers My Name," "Black Goddess Rising," "Summer Dying Fast," and not to mention the blistering title track. The musicianship is flawless, with the minor exception of some of the keyboards, which sound a little bit like music from games like Zelda, not that that's a bad thing. Dani's vocals also had yet to turn into the piercing shriek he now has, but still fit the music very well. All in all, buy it now, order it if you have to, but it's well worth the price of admission. Check out "Dusk and Her Embrace" too.

The Principles of Metal on Plastic.......2002-07-02

This is classic Cradle of Filth. All the aspects are here: the stampeding drum beats, the lightning-fast guitar parts, and song structure that is lacking in many other bands in this genere. The only thing missing is Dani's trademark vocals, which are found in later albums. No matter. Songs like the title track, 'The Forest Whispers My Name' and 'Black Goddess Rises' are worth the price of the album. For real metal fans, especially Cradle fans, 'Principle of Evil Made Flesh' is a requirement.

This is the second best Cradle album after Dusk. This is the closest to Black Metal Cradle ever got and it is way better than any black metal album i have ever heard. Buy this album! i swear you will not regret it
