great album to listen to but,.......2007-05-17
focuses WAY to much on the blizzard WHY THE HELL DOES OZZY NEED TO PUT AT LEAST 3 BLIZZARD SONGS WHAT ABOUT DIARY,BARK AT THE MOON,ORTHE ULTIMATE SIN and why the HELL is there sabbath songs on it i would have put this song list: Blizzard of Ozz: Crazy train and Mr.Crowley thats it!
Diary of a Madman: flying High Again,Diary of a Madman and Over the Mountain. rest ok. o and julie hipps what other songs could ozzy have put on tribute answer is ONLY blizzard and diary of a madman songs but you are right.
Misses the mark.......2007-04-16
The versions of "Black Sabbath" and "War Pigs" actually comprise half of Black Sabbath's appearance on the April 26, 1970 edition of John Peel's 'Sunday Show.' "Black Sabbath" features a unique third verse that appears on no other officially released version of the song. "War Pigs" is actually "Walpurgis," an earlier incarnation of the song featuring entirely different lyrics. Incidentally, the other two songs from that broadcast, "Fairies Wear Boots" and "Behind the Wall of Sleep," were released as bonus tracks on the supplemental disc issued with the first pressings of the original 1997 release. All four of these tracks, while fascinating, don't rightfully belong on this collection, as this disc intends to highlight Ozzy Osbourne's career as a solo artist. For that reason, the live version of "Paranoid" that appears on this set is equally unnecessary.
Those songs are frustrating inclusions on an Ozzy Osbourne greatest hits album, particularly since they come at the apparent exclusion of some of Ozzy's biggest hits and/or notable tracks such as "Flying High Again," "Shot in the Dark," "I Don't Know," "Breaking All the Rules," or "Road to Nowhere."
To add to the confusion, some of the solo-era material included here isn't exactly what it purports to be. Ozzy has been the subject of a number of recent legal disputes over writing and performance royalties. These disputes ostensibly prompted Ozzy to reissue his back catalog in 2002 with, in some cases, re-recorded tracks. The 'Blizzard of Ozz' and 'Diary of a Madman' albums now feature pointlessly re-recorded rhythm parts, presumably as a snub to the original rhythm section of Lee Kerslacke (drums) and Bob Daisley (bass), who, incidentally, wrote the lyrics to almost every Ozzy solo track from 'Blizzard of Ozz' through 'No More Tears.' The 'Bark at the Moon' album, while not re-recorded, was most certainly remixed. It is the re-recorded versions of the 'Blizzard of Ozz' and 'Diary of a Madman' tracks and the remixed version of the 'Bark at the Moon' track that appear on the current edition of this collection. Finally, the version of "No More Tears" is actually the video edit, not the album version.
In addition, due to one of the disputes mentioned above, 'The Ultimate Sin' album was not selected for remastering in 2002 and has subsequently been dropped from Ozzy's catalog. That album's biggest hit, "Shot in the Dark," which appeared on the original 1997 release of this collection, has now been replaced with "Miracle Man" from 'No Rest for the Wicked.' Along these lines, the 'Just Say Ozzy' live EP and the double-disc live album, 'Live and Loud,' both of which contain a live version of "Shot in the Dark," have also been deleted from Ozzy's catalog. Not even 'The Essential Ozzy Osbourne,' a double-disc collection covering Ozzy's entire solo career, features a single song from 'The Ultimate Sin.' The ultimate sin, indeed.
My recommendation is to avoid this collection (and the 2002 remasters) and instead search for the 1995 remasters or, better yet, search for the original albums on vinyl.
NOT AS BAD AS SOME no MOST PEOPLE SAY!!!!!!!!!.......2007-04-12
THIS IS A ( IN MY OPINION ) A GREAT GREATEST HITS ALBUM ( BUT NOWAY AS GOOD AS The Essential Ozzy Osbourne though ) O I am 11 so I could not creat a "listmania" list so I will do it here.

Warpurgis.......2007-02-22
That's the only reason I bought this Album. I believe this is the only legal release of this rare track. I like the old school raw sound of it too. Actually, most of the modern tracks I don't like, so I gave 4 stars for Warpurgis alone.
(Almost) a complete compilation of ozzy's greates.......2007-01-10
This album is the original "Best Of" album by Ozzy Osbourne. It features a few songs by Black Sabbath, and the rest are from his solo carrier. Dont be surprised when you hear different lyrics for "War Pigs", this is the original version about witches that the record company forced the band to change. The remastering definately brings out the bass in the tracks that wasnt as present in the original analog recordings. Great list of tracks, but it could have used "Diary of a Madman" and "Perry Mason". the b-side track also should not have been placed right after "I Just Want You" as the keyboard part sounds very similar.

A decent compilation.......2004-06-23
The Ozzman Cometh (1997.) Ozzy Osbourne's first hits compilation.
Ozzy Osbourne had been a musical genius for nearly three decades by the time he finally released his first greatest hits album. Despite numerous band member changes and an assortment of other obstacles along the way, Ozzy prevailed as an excellent musician. How does his first hits compilation measure up? Read on for my review of this compilation - The Ozzman Cometh.
PROS:
-THE COMPILATION COVERS MOST OF OZZY'S SOLO CAREER. Roughly 1980-1997 is covered here, and that's nearly 18 years worth of music. Not bad.
-MOST OF THE BIG HITS ARE HERE. Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley, Bark At The Moon, Mama I'm Coming Home, and just about every other really popular solo Ozzy song can be found here.
-YOU GET UNDERRATED MASTERPIECES AS WELL. Over The Mountain and Goodbye To Romance are just two of the underrated songs you'll find in this set.
-THE IMPORT VERSION OF THE ALBUM FEATURES A BONUS DISC WITH EXTRA SONGS ON IT. It's really too bad Americans got deprived of this little extra, because it's really a nice bonus.
-THERE IS PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED MATERIAL AVAILABLE IN THIS SET. You get rare Black Sabbath-era demo tracks, and even a previously unreleased new recording unavailable elsewhere!
CONS:
-THIS FAIRLY GOOD VERSION OF THE COMPILATION IS NOT THE ONE THAT'S READILY AVAILABLE IN AMERICA (as of June 22, 2003.) Instead, Americans get a version that has some tracks with RERECORDED PARTS, and NO BONUS DISC! Likewise, the American edition replaced Shot In The Dark with the vastly inferior Miracle Man! For shame, Ozzy!
-THE PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED STUFF ISN'T THAT GOOD. Admittingly, the new song Back On Earth is solid, but the Black Sabbath demos are garbage. Ozzy's voice sucks on them, as does the sound quality. Why didn't we get some REAL Black Sabbath material on here?
-SCATTERSHOT SELECTION OF SONGS. Where's Flying High Again!? That's one of the Ozzman's biggest hits, and the song that sparked my interest in him in the first place! It's omission can not be forgiven.
-BAD VERSION CHOICES. Why a live solo version of Paranoid instead of the original? Why the radio edit of No More Tears instead of the full-length version? Why a crappy live take on I Don't Want To Change The World instead of the studio one? Geez, Ozzy! What's the matter with you!?
-THE INTERVIEW IS HORRIBLE! Sure, it's interesting to hear Ozzy answer these questions, BUT WERE TALKING ABOUT OZZY HERE! OZZY! A GUY WHOSE SPEAKING VOICE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND! Why not just print the interview in the liner notes?
OVERALL:
No matter which version of it you buy, The Ozzman Cometh is a compilation that just falls flat. If you're getting into Ozzy, whether you're a casual fan or potential die-hard, GET HIS ALBUMS INSTEAD. And make sure that in the case of the first three, you get the 1995 versions and not the 2002 versions that have rerecordings. No hits compilation will ever do Ozzy justice, and you can see why with the Ozzman Cometh.

Quite Possibly, the Fan's Perfect Food........2001-07-29
(By the way, I'm over 12, I just couldn't figure out how to write a regular review.)
I've been a die-hard, no-nonsense rock fan for a long time now, and until two months ago, my favorite was KISS. Then, the arm of God reached down thru the clouds, and with His pinkie, touched my ear with a miracle: Ozzy Osbourne's "No More Tears." I promptly bought "The Ozzman Cometh," and lo; a miracle surpassing all others! This album is one of the best in my extensive collection (OK, so most of the CD's are my dad's, but so what?), both in quality and content. All songs are beautifully remastered, except "War Pigs" and "Black Sabbath." These two tracks are straight out of Ozzy's 1970 Basement Tapes, rehearsals with the early Sabbath. (And you will agree with me that it's a relief that Ozzy doesn't sound like that anymore.)
The track "War Pigs" was originally entitled "Walpurgis," meaning "The Witches' Sabbath." These are the original lyrics and riffs, a far removal from the more well-known version of "War Pigs;" surprisingly, the lyrics are even darker, creepier, and more blasphemous. These two Sabbath tracks are the only two on the entire CD.
The rest are Ozzy's own favorite, hand-picked best from 1981's "Blizzard of Ozz" to 1995's "Ozzmosis." There are a couple of great live tracks, including Randy Rhoad's interp of "Paranoid." In addition, he has added previously unreleased track "Back on Earth," and that only covers Disc 1! On the second disc are several rare, excellent tracks only heard on places such as the soundtrack for "Beavis and Butthead Do America." The Ozzman has also Cometh up with a photo and a story or explanation for each song.
This is an excellent album for the collection of any rock/metal fan. You'll be able to listen to it over and over without tiring of it- you have my word as a fan and rock musician!
Ozzy's 'Best Of' CD all fans should own.......2000-06-29
Forget the Epic release of this CD, this Sony Music release blows it away! Contains an extra CD with tracks such as 'Walk on Water' heard only in the 'Beavis and Butthead Do America' soundtrack. Following that is a very interesting track, which has Ozzy himself singing for Type O Negative in a song called 'Pictures of Matchstick Men'.. The extra CD is wrapped up by an interview in the early 90's. Well worth the money!
Shows the great ups and downs of Ozzy's career.......1999-03-24
Ozzman cometh is the best way to try to get a late start on the man's career. If you haven't been with "it", you'll never truely understand, but this album is the closest youcan get without buying everyone of his albums.
If you love Ozzy then you will love this CD..........1999-01-03
This album contains really the best of Ozzy. I have almost every record of Ozzy, Ozzy talks about why he has chosen every song in this CD. Also if you wanna know Ozzy then you Wanna have this CD. He is one great man....One great music..
