Customer Reviews:
Surreal, intriguing, excellent music and recording.......2004-12-27
listening to the music is like enjoying the beautiful surreal movie once again without seeing it. The more I listen, the more I love it - it's the Amercian Dream story, it's the Iggy Pop music, it's the Johnny Depp narrative make it a valuable collectible CD. This is a new version, the recording is excellent.
Masterpiece.......2003-09-02
This is the album that sounds even better without the Movie.
Goran Bregovic mixed traditional european Folk music with more modern styled instrumental and rock music.with this mix and his talent to make a moving and touching songs he created a masterpiece, delightfull voyage to teh darkest and most mysterious places...Goran added sytnhs, bass, delicate guitar (simmilar a bit to mike Oldfield),and a massive wall of drums...Check out "Dreams","Old home movie","Gunpowder","Dreams" and a huge hit "Tv screen" with Iggy pop on vocals.Definitly one of my Desert-island albums,a must have for all instrumental music fans and for everyone as well!!!!
Versatile Composer.......2003-06-30
As most fans of Bregovic know, he is a versatile composer who blends well contemporary music technology with traditional flavors of eastern European gypsy and still manages to remain above the par of the usual techno-studio corporate music that attempts to stamp the "World Music" label on its own concoctions. "Arizona Dream" doesn't disappoint even the hard to please of Bregovic fans.

Amazon.com essential recording
Disney's Snow White, the world's first animated musical feature (1937), is still a standard in the industry. Though 1930s recording technology was primitive by today's standards, the Disney music studios have always used the available technology to its fullest, and this recording still stands up. The mature but hauntingly childlike Adriana Caselotti as Snow White is a unique vocal presence, and the songs include "Whistle While You Work," "Heigh-Ho," and "Some Day My Prince Will Come." The score is nearly as great an accomplishment as the film itself. --John Sanchez
Customer Reviews:
The Churchill's are very talented persons........2007-02-13
When I was 6, I already had a very good sense of what is a fine music score. I'm 73 now and still loving that music.
One Song.......2006-02-19
I bought this album almost especially for the piece of music entitled "Special Sort Of Death." It does sound creepy but that's what I loved about it. From I saw the film I was like I have to have that.
Anyway another reason for me purchasing this album was the main titles for the film I love the ochestration. My favourite song on this album would have to be One Song followed by with A Smile and a Song.
And number 5 (a piece of music) I can't remember what it's called but it is creepy too the part that has snow white running through the woods.
Someday my prince will come is nice too. Adriana's voice is a little high and annoying sometimes though. But it's still nice to listen to. I listen to this album alot it's very nice and I like to listen to the version of One Song that is played at the end of the movie.
good soundtrack for halloween.......2005-07-14
first of all, i have seen the movie and the hag scares me very much. about the music,it's not good music for children because the orchestral moving creates dark suites. the other part of makin' pies is no exception. i listened to special sort of death on a site called mp3.com and the beginning is very disturbing almost, because it's when the queen appears as the old witch and she plots to destroy snow white
Queen:(laughing)it's not for you, it's for snow white
anyways, bye-bye
REMasterpiece!.......2003-01-21
This soundtrack is a perfect compliment to the film, and It's gloriously remastered to make you feel you are still watching and not just listening to the music from the movie itself.
In the liner notes I read the original soundtrack only consisted of five songs, the five songs we hear sung in the film. "One song/I'm Wishing", "Hi Ho", "The Yodeling Song", "Some day my prince will come", and "Whistle while you work". Over the years, the instrumental musical score was thrown in to create a wonderful masterpiece of a soundtrack.
I highly recommend purchasing this. If you like the music from the movie, you will love this. After hearing this for the first time(I've now heard it at least 100, thanks to my 2 yr. old), the movie is brought out to be more of a musical adventure as well as a wonderful story to be told.
This is my son's favorite c.d., and he has so much fun dancing and singing along.
A Magical, Delightful Soundtrack.......2002-10-07
This was the first of the newly remastered and expanded "Disney classic soundtracks" that I purchased for my collection, and it's still my favorite. How wonderful to have, not only the vocals from the old vinyl version ("I'm Wishing/One Song," "With a Smile and a Song," "Heigh-Ho," "Bluddle-Uddle-Um-Dum," "The Dwarfs' Yodel Song" (and if you don't want to get up and dance to it, there's something wrong with you!), and "Some Day My Prince Will Come"), but the background instrumentals from the track, never before available to the at-home audience. The "Queen Theme," the chilling "Far Into the Forest," and "I've Been Tricked" particularly bring scenes from the movie springing to mind. There are also two songtracks that were cut from the film print. If you're a Disney-lover, your collection must positively include this CD.

AWESOME METAL MASTERPIECE!!!.......2006-12-12
Flotsam continue to amaze me after all thses years!!! They still come out with great albums that have the thrash sound of yesteryear that so many band loose. Listen to Straight To Hell and you'll see what I mean!!! ROCK ON FLOTSAM!!!!
Excellent work !.......2006-09-09
After getting burned by Helloween and Queensryche's latest bombs, I almost put this on the "Never play me again" shelf ( that's where Operation Mindcrime II and Keeper of the Seven Keys III are now.) A good set of headphones helped alot. Overall, a very excellent piece of work from an excellent band whose first album ( Doomsday For the Deceiver ) I bought as a teen. Tight guitars and drums, clear vocals, and some backward tracks blended in ( thats where the USB headphones made the difference.)
good album for a great band.......2005-11-29
Dreams of Death- a concept album, if I got this right, this is about a man who realizes is a killer and then separates dreams from reality and drowns in sorrow. Eric sings great as usual and the lyrics are very smart. The band is tight and clean. I love the fact that the n. of songs is limited (a recent trend in metal) rather than including filler. A nice little CD that is currently on hot rotation on my Linn system in good company with the children of bodom, the great opeth, gamma ray and the new halloween!
review from the Synthesis.......2005-11-03
There's a time when you have to sigh, reluctantly resign and surrender your place of fame to some promising up-and-comers. This isn't necessarily an age issue; it's more about what is relevant. Some things are happening now; other things, like this latest release from Flotsam and Jetsam, were happening about 10-15 years ago. Everything about it is typical: the power metal riffs, the very Metallica-esque vocals, the same old guitar solos, the relentless drumming, the classic and consistent thrash metal sound, lyrics about demons and dreams and even the standard ballad. So guys, it seems to be about that time. As Buddha says, "Like every living thing, in the end it sickens and dies."

They did it again!.......2005-09-01
This is yet another classic for everyone who loves Metal! Great riffs, catchy hooks and enough speed to send you thrashing through the room. Eric A.K.'s singing is great as always and hasn't suffered since their debut. There are not a lot of bands around these days that have lasted this long and have managed to evolve while staying true to the Metal formula of heavy riffing, fast paced double bass drumming and daring vocals. Even the greater names in Metal can't seem to evolve and stay true to this. Either they keep repeating themselves or they get whimpy! Well Flotsam and Jetsam released another masterpeace with this ninth (9) album to date. What has it got you ask? Fast paced thrash songs, a heavy ballad and a great introspective instrumental.
So what if sometimes you hear some familiar things in their music?? That's just the Flotsam sound and that makes you realize that this is another classic from these Metal maniacs!

Great, but no prize.......2002-03-31
The selections from the Ring trilogy, Friends in need and Fallen Angel were excellent, however, some of the special request such as joxer the mighty, seemed a little bit rushed. Wasn't that song on Volume 2 already? Where was M'Lila's song from Destiny, or the music played During the first Kiss in "The Quest"
The cd has its good points, personally "It's Over" from "THAB" with its haunting melodies portraying the consequences of war.
Xena;Warrior Princess volume six.......2002-01-09
I am so happy that the last and final cd has come out, now my collection is complete. I am very sad for the show ending, but I am glad to still collect things.
Great Collection.......2001-12-25
Well, I have them all by now, but this last one is a great collection, with the added bonus of the music from A Friend In Need.
Just another fine addition to my Xena collection!
Exceptional.......2001-11-30
I am a fanatic and devoted Xenite.I have a huge problem:i can't stop listening to that cd,since the first time i listened to it,which means 1 month! That cd is really exceptional and i think that every true and genuine Xenite should buy it!It's really good!I was moved when i heard the Fallen Angel part.I was passioned when i heard the Ring Trilogy!I was astonishing when i heard the bonus cues that were included, especially the cue from The Quill Is Mightier(fishin part),oh,i was completely satisfied!
Though, there is a complain:i can't understand, why after 6 cd's,the producers don't do a cd including cues like:M'laila's song, the cues from the Bacchaen festival, music from Deja Vou All Over Again, where in the end,Gabrielle says to Xena those wonderful words,or even the scene of the kiss in The Quest! That,i can't understand it!
Last, i believe that whoever likes LoDuca's music style, should buy this cd.
Pay attention to the 22 cue:Pas De Deux Femmes. It is one of a something and whoever remembers what's the scene of this song, will agree with me!Mmmm!
A MIX OF THE BEST, THE WORST AND THE MISSING.......2001-11-29
To all truly Xena fans this CD is a must-have but have some lacks... Fun (comedy episodes music) scores destroy the the great combination of FALLEN ANGEL, THE RHEINGOLD TRILOGY AND I FRIEND IN NEED. In the first selections LoDuca creates spectacular high level music good enough to be played in a Symphony orchestra concert. The others selections have easy-to-fill-space western cowboy music instead of put M'Lilas song of DESTINY, Amazon's climbing trees of ADVENTURES IN THE SIN TRADE and NAJARA vs XENA music that would be gladly accepted by us. I doubt the company will launch a next CD but if they'll do this track and another valuable more must be there and the adittion of some famous characters quotes like "I have many skills" from Xena.

Disincarnate : "Dreams Of The Carrion Kind".......2006-04-15
This is excellent old-school Death Metal. Nothing really groundbreaking, but if you enjoy bands like Obituary / Death / Malevolent Creation / Massacre / Cancer / Carnage / or any old-school Death Metal for that matter, you will enjoy this....
J. Murphy has become one of Death Metal's pioneers, and his message here on "Dreams Of The Carrion Kind" is clear. Death Metal is here to stay...
perfect death metal.......2005-10-01
death metal will always be a genre with limited appeal. there's really no musical hooks to speak of, the vocals are inhuman, and melody is not even an issue. the emphasis is on speed, brutality, and technical playing ability; not too mention some silly gore here and there. when death metal started to really take off, bands like Obituary and Cannibal Corpse gained vast amounts of popularity and inspired thousands of less talented fools to start their own bands. resulting in a vast sea of tasteless and unessesary albums of uninspred tepid trash. but out of the clueless thousands, a few bands rose to the top of the pile. Disincarnate is a great example of an exceptional death metal band; one who can write some really great and powerful songs and inject them with their own unique and distinctive atmosphere. the technical ability of these players is without question, the songs on Dreams Of The Carrion Kind are varied and feature lots of mood shifts and tempo changes, and the lyrics are pretty good too! i'm not sure how popular Disincarnate was when they first came out, but i have a feeling that this classic slice of death metal slipped through the cracks and deserves to be heard. i don't think it will change the mind of any music fan who doesn't already like this kind of music, but it will satisfy any cravings for brutal and thoughtful death metal.
Holy Schniekies!!!.......2005-04-21
I bought this album a year ago. It is amazing. I just got into death metal a few months before this album was released, and it still blows me away. I bought it, because it was on Roadrunner, and James Murphy, one of the world's most underrated guitarists played in this band, and seeing that it was recommended for fans of Obituary, Death and Cancer (three bands James Murphy played in), I picked it up. My favorite track is "Soul Erosion", which drags you down and pummels you. It's just that good. "Stench Of Paradise Burning" is a great track, and so are "Beyond The Flesh" and the rest of the CD. Buy this. I also heard a rumor that Disincarnate may reform, since they still owe Nuclear Blast a record.
The darkest of death metal.......2004-05-21
Disincarnate was way ahead of it's time and nothing else compares. The perfect death metal CD for an enchanting fall evening. All kinds of tempo changes. Haunting doom combined with James Murphy's brilliant, sometimes fast, sometimes gut wrenchingly slow and heavy guitar; perhaps the greatest death metal guitarist ever. I dream for another Carrion Kind. Get well James!
A death metal landmark!.......2004-03-11
Just when all of the death metal of the early 90s was beginning to sound a little "samey", James Murphy--the lead guitarist of choice of any self-respecting death metal band at the time--took it upon himself to rewrite the blueprints for the genre and came out with a CLASSIC!
And this was certainly a long overdue release. Up until DISINCARNATE formed, we had been teased and tantalized by James' melodic solo work on albums by Death, Cancer, and Obituary, but now we could hear all of his composing prowess as well as his virtuoso soloing technique in one shot.
From the opening salvo of "Stench of Paradise Burning" it is relentless melodic death metal. "Monarch of the Sleeping Marches" has to be the centerpiece of the album, while the opening solo of "Soul Erosion" is one of Murphy's most powerful statements.
The band he gathered around him are no slouches, either. The vocalist Bryan Cegon hits the hellish gutturals as he should, but keeps them articulate and understandable, which is a HUGE plus in my book considering that the lyrics are so good they don't deserve to be rendered indecipherable like on so many death metal albums. The drummer is also superbly skilled, as is required for this genre, while James apparently handles bass on much of the album, but it's barely audible as is pretty much the norm.
The remastering was supervised by Murphy himself, and sounds incredibly fresh. A few new photos and great, informative liner notes also come with it, including some revealing comments from James. Add the nice slipcover to the mix and you have a lovingly assembled re-release that is impossible to ignore.
Even if you already own this, buy it again for the 3 Scott Burns-produced bonus demo tracks. There is still nothing like it.

Mindblowing Melodic Technical Death Metal.......2006-10-25
I could not be any happier than the moment I discover this amazing talented band. Anata is a band that has their signature sound, with the technicality of bands like Cryptopsy and Necrophagist and mixing it in with the melody of bands like At The Gates and Hypocrisy. The production fits well with this album, and the riffs and lead guitars will mark a memory in your mind. Make sure to pick up this album if you like your metal melodic and technical.
The listener ecstatic!.......2005-06-02
Righty Right. This cd is absolutely amazing. Extremely solid is an understatement. This album has the most innovative and fluid guitar movement. I think the verse and chorus guitar work is phenomenal. Then Schalin and Allenmark glide right into the slickest sounding guitar solos. These guys have practiced, a lot! The overall equalization of the album is perfect. This album is a great buy (I even got mine for 8 new, i would have paid so much more for it as well). Seriously, this is an album that you should not pass up.
Anata is..........2005-02-11
a highly underrated band in the underground scene today.
This band is not technical for the sake of being technical like many Swedish bands. They have that kind of technicality that, like Cryptopsy, is way beyond the others.
Faith,Hope, Self Deception, The Enigma of Number Three and The Temple Erratic are worthy the admission price alone. Sit back and relax. This amazing band will take you to a ride in the deepness of darkness like no other.
A true masterpiece until the end.
Impressive..........2004-10-24
Actullie, i just heard about anata and i was quite impress by "dreams of death & dismay" which had great production and techinicality...Out of this world. A must've if you into pure deathmetal that does not dissapoint, at all. I higly recommend.
Yes, amazing!.......2004-07-20
Wow, realy amazing and a brutal release by anata with killer pounding drums and one sick vocalist! F*cking insane plus the production makes the whole album worth a while.Buy it!

Metal to the core!!.......2007-04-06
This CD is a Masterpiece from this Danish band....From the Clean powerful vocals to the harsh dark growls, to the Synth filling in the gaps, while the Guitar and bass are chugging along with the awesome drums! A Combo of Melodic Death, Power Metal, Thrash, and just plain Heavy Metal every song on this cd rocks...not one bad song. Highlights are: World Hate Center, 11 Dreams, Firesoul ! wow.. if you love Metal pick this up
I'm sold.......2006-12-24
I won't go into a point-by-point technical review, I'll just keep it simple. I found this band by chance and upon hearing the song '11 Dreams', I immediately bought this cd. Most of the songs are excellent with my favorites being '11 Dreams', 'Firesoul' and 'World Hate Center'. However, there are a few throw-aways. 'Times Without Changes' is a ballad I could do without. 'Sharpen the Edges' is a decent b-side, but gets old quickly. I am at a loss for words for the track 'Music Non Stop'...it's a REALLY cheesy pop rock song that makes me wonder "what the....?"
I have not heard any of Mercenary's older stuff, but I understand that this cd was a new direction for their sound. You can pretty much sum up the foundation of this direction by listening to the songs '11 Dreams'and 'Firesoul' . If you like those songs, you'll enjoy this album and definitely their latest release "The Hours That Remain"(which will get 5 stars from me).
This Album Is Epic.......2006-11-03
Mercenary is a highly underrated band that should be recognized for it's accomplishments. 11 Dreams is an incredible album that few can match, Mercenary created a iconic level album with this release and all that appreciate good metal and good music in general, need to pick this album up.
great new band.......2006-11-03
never heard of these guys b4 this, killer stuff a must own if you love melodic death ect..
This is a classic........2006-08-20
Great album. Melodic with very strong choruses. This is metal, but if you took out the double bass drumming and the relatively infrequent use of extreme vocals, you'd have something closer to a progressive hard rock record. Great songs, lyrics, music and variety combine for what is a must-have for fans of melodic metal. This is one that your girlfriend might even like. But don't be put off by that. This is a great METAL album. I llke Carcass, Morbid Angel, Deicide, and many other extreme metal bands. Although this is not death metal, it most definitely is metallic. So if you like melodic metal, you need this.

Another worthy addition to this series.......2006-06-30
Nuclear Blast is to be commended for continuing to produce this series of 'taster' albums. This being the third instalment of the Metal Dreams series listeners are starting to hear some of the same bands again but that's no bad thing. The advantage of Nuclear Blast putting out these discs periodically is that you can get a sample of newer product by a bunch of bands and they're also great for lending to friends so they too can acquire some knowledge of new bands in the Nuclear Blast stable.
A quick look at the track listing will let you know if you might be interested, names such as Hammerfall, Stratovarius, Iced Earth, Lacuna Coil, Nevermore and Opeth being fairly well known amongst the metal fraternity. It should be pointed out that these Metal Dreams albums generally showcase the mellower songs of many of these bands so anyone planning on throwing one of these discs on and having their ears blown off may be disappointed.
However sometimes it's these mellower tunes that show a bands ability to change gears and play with some feeling and restraint, so it's not always a bad idea to listen with open ears to such songs.
If you can pick this up cheaply it's a very good purchase. I can't rate it over three stars only because various artists albums invariably come off sounding like projects and your always going to get a number of turds amongst the gems and this album is no exception. But that's what the skip button is for!

Fine.......2005-04-23
If you are looking for rarities, or want to try something interesting and new, try this one. Full of incredible invention and good pianistic sense, music of Korngold is worth to listen. Good idea, Mr. Kubalek.
Unknown treasure.......2005-04-17
Very fine music, sounds like mixture of Rachmaninov and Schoenberg. Result of co-operation of greatest Canadian musicians - Glenn Gould and Antonin Kubalek. Written by very young person, but I can't believe, that it's true...
