As with other Ellipsis Arts releases, African Lullaby is more than a stellar music collection. Its delightful liner notes provide ample context for these "love songs for children" and the collection's innovative earth-friendly packaging is a work of art unto itself. Commencing with the bewitching Zulu harmonies of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, "Thula Mtwana" sets the tone, creating an atmosphere of warmth, safety, and peace, and is followed by a baker's dozen that reflect the gentle rhythms of an abundantly diverse continent. "Kounandu Deni" marries the dancing melody of Malian guitar and African harp with lyrics of paternal providence. Broadway's Sarafina! and The Lion King cast member Ntomb'khona Dlamini wails soulfully on "Thula Thula," and "Chitsidzo" is a mystical reverie of parental love and spousal longing accompanied by the intense beauty of a mbira (thumb piano). Standing head and shoulders above others in its class, African Lullaby is testimony to the awesome power of music. --Paige La Grone

Our favorite.......2007-04-03
This is my son's favorite cd to listen to when he is falling asleep and we don't mind overhearing it on the monitor! I spent a few years in Africa and a few of the lullabies remind me of singing with my coworkers and friends. Just beautiful.
Not a lullabye CD.......2007-03-01
While I love this album - especially the first track by Ladysmith Black Mambazo - I don't find it very soothing. The rhythms are not sleepy, but rather sweet and uplifting. I can't imagine a child in Africa being sung to sleep by most of these songs - these are the equivalent of slow pop songs from the 70s like "Time in a Bottle" - basically, love songs. Sappy and slow, but not lullabyes. I've heard a few African lullabyes, and other than the LBM track and one or two others this isn't it. Buy the album - but then request the publisher release an album of songs to soothe your kid to sleep.
Great for babies and adults.......2007-01-09
I bought this for my daughter as a change from the rest of the lullabies and we both enjoy it.
Great lullaby CD - it really works!.......2006-09-10
It's great. The songs are wonderful and it puts my 7mth old daughter to sleep in mins. At home or on long driving trips it is very soothing. Adults be careful...it also works on us too! Guarenteed to put YOU to sleep in seconds!
I will also recommend 'Gift of the Tortoise' by Ladysmith Black Mambazo...wonderful and educational CD.
Happy shopping!

The Best One Yet!.......2005-05-16
This Totally Hits edition is the best one yet. The peak, and then all after kept falling!
"I Wanna Be Bad" by Willa Ford is definately the best song on here, and should have been put first. I find it very odd that it was #13, considering it was practically the biggest song of 2001. I also ponder why Willa's "Did Ya Understand That" was not featured on any of the 2002 Totally Hits editions, as well as Willa's "A Toast To Men" not featured on any of the 2004 Totally Hits editions. "A Toast To Men" was even bigger than "I Wanna Be Bad" and "Did Ya Understand That" was played like every 5 minutes in clubs and on MuchMusic!
Anyway, Willa Ford, Miss Elliott, Dream, Toya, 112, & Blu Cantrell really made this CD. All songs are great. Even genres of songs by artists on here that I'm not a big fan of were great!
If Totally Hits just includes THE SAME artists they did on this one on a 2005, 2006, and all editions they will have another hit and great CD. And from the tracklisting on the new 2005 edition, it looks like they add a lot of flops and bad songs on here, instead ones that actually are great and hits!

3 1/2 stars, pretty good, seen better.......2005-05-11
I only reviewed the songs I know:
1. Hit 'em up style (oops)-Blu Cantrell- A- Great song to dance to. Good for MTV. Awesome, catchy beat. Like dancing to it.
3. Get ur freak on-Missy Elliott- C okay, weird-sounding, definitely overplayed.
4. Fallin remix-Alicia Keys A- Like the song. Another good dance song.
7. U remind me-Usher-D. Don't really like it that much, stupid
8. All or nothing-OTown- C, sad-sounding to me, makes me think of the year 2001. Makes me picture myself in 2001 when I was about 9 or 10 and in a grocery store hearing the song play in the store.
10. Follow me-Uncle Kracker-B- or C+. Kinda like it. Good song about friends at school or camp that follow each other around. Played in so many stores, restaurants, haircut shops, malls, etc. You couldn't get away from it. I felt like I was in a race against the song, and it was winning.
12. When it's over-Sugar ray- C. It's okay, kinda wimpy, whiny, overplayed in stores and on the radio. Good theme song for a TV show.
Totally Hits 2001; Indeed.......2005-05-11
The "Totally Hits" series was created in late 1999 as direct competition for "Now That's What I Call Music". Although the series was almost as good; they never really achived the wide sucess of the "NOW"s. After "Totally Hits 3", the series looked as if it was going to vanish. But the series was revived with a new concept: making just one (later two) to sum up the biggest hits of each year for the Warner/Arista/Atlantic/Elektra music label. "Totally Hits 2001", the 1st edition in this set, is complete sucess; as it collects many of the 2001's best songs, showing what a strong year it was for music. Just about every genre (country being an exception) is included in some form or another. Hip-hop/rap seem to be a dominate force on the album, but of course; it was possibly the most sucessful genre of 2001. The breakdown of 2001's tracks:
(1) Blu Cantrell "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)" B+. Not blinding brilliant tune, but one made with alot of zest and energy. Blu's voice sounds unique and it's nice to hear an R&B song with an angry female verses a sad one. This also happens to be a very infectious track that glues itself to memory.
(2) 112 "Peaches & Cream" A. This relaxing blend of hip-hop and R&B is so blissful that it's impossible to not enjoy. Thr lyrics, and the analogy the make, represent some of the best work to come from the Bad Boy label. Remarkable how the song is naughty and innocent at the samne time. I get hungry just from hearing this.
(3) Missy Elliot "Get Ur Freak On" A-. One of her best songs ever. Everything (the lyrics, beats, producton) falls into place so perfectly that the song succeed as a rap, pop and dance song. Missy loads it with her own style and energy and makes an end result which is unmistakenly hers.
(4) Alicia Keys "Fallin'" (Remix feat. Busta Ryhmes) A-. Alicia has the uncanny ability to take worn out material and give a fresh new sound. "Fallin'" is a perfect example; her piano skills match with her heartfelt lyrics to create a deeply effective song. Busta is good with his (for a change) relaxed raps, but they seem to take away some of the depth. Still good though.
(5) P. Diddy, Black Rob and Mark Curry "Bad Boy For Life" B. The lyrics are very cool and the three rappers have alot of charisma. The problem though, is that the beats seem unpolished and fragmented; well below the usual Bad Boy level. The berats really detract from the songs catchiness and listenability. Still the tone of the song is fun and it does annonces P. Diddy's return with energy and entusiasum.
(6) Dream "This Is Me" (Remix feat. Kain) B. Another hip-hop inlfuenced pop group attemping to follow the path of Desntiny's Child and TLC. They have a nice sound and good harmonizarion, yet the single seems a bit too safe and needs more ambition. Still, P. Diddy's production creates a nice flow to it and keeps ad constant tone.
(7) Usher "U Remind Me" A-. Although it's not great like "U Got It Bad"; it's still a heartfelt R&B single. Usher cenents himself as a driving force in the music industry. The most distinguishing quality is the originality of the lyrics; as this is a different concept for an R&B song. Usher's voice has a deep conviction in it, to deliver a powerful R&B tune.
(8) O-Town "All Or Nothing" B+. Yes, this is the group that was followed on ABC's "Making The Band". It's easy to dismiss the group as a bunch of "pretty boys" (which they are), but this is just as good as the best ballads by the Backstreet Boys and 98°. There is true emotion in the lyrics and the song is made with termemdous skill and attention.
(9) Eve 6 "Here's To The Night" A. A nice laid back pop/rock tune that carries alot of depth and dimension. It's similar to works by Third Eye Blind and Vertical Horizon, yet the group has their own sound. By never trying to hard, they just let the song develop at it's own natrual relaxed rate. The end result is a song of much power and emotion.
(10) Uncle Kracker "Follow Me" A. Think Kid Rock meets James Taylor; that about sums this up. It has all the classic feel of Taylor, yet the modern edge of Rock as well. Anyway, this is a beautiful rock song with touching lyrics and a very easing beat. Uncle Kracker reveals himself to be an artist of much depth and skill. This is one of 2001's best rock songs.
(11) LFO "Every Other Time" A-. The group's best song really captures that innocent feel of 80s pop that they always infuse into their music. There isn't much in terms of content, but the lyrics and beats are so breezy, that the song is impossible to not enjoy. This is a small, harmless pop treasure.
(12) Sugar Ray "When It's Over" A-. The last quality simgle from Sugar Ray. Yes, it has the same sound of "Every Morning", but so what? That was a good song and this is too. The band hss their usual heartfelt lyrics and relaxed beats which, compared to current trend that rock music is taking, is a nice change of
pace.
(13) Willa Ford "I Wanna Be Bad" B. A good song, even if it doesn't fully fit together. The beat is in the right place, but Willa's tine and energy seem kinda forced for the cintent that she's singing. She just doesn't really make the "bad hip-hop girl" bill. Strange that her album doesn't even have a "Parental Advisory" sticker on it.
(14) Toya "I Do!!" B+. I have no idea why this wasn't a big hit; it's one of the catchiest R&B singles of 2001. I'm not even fully certain as to what the track is about, but it is loaded with energy and skill. That combinmed with Toya's voice create a highly enjoyable single from begining to end.
(15) OutKast "So Fresh, So Clean" B-. Not in the same league as "Ms. Jackson", but not bad either. It has enough of the group's unique funk sound to renain interesing, but never really finds any purpose or meaning to it. It's a minor offering from the great hip-hop group, but not an unskilled piece of work.
(16) Ludacris feat. Shawnna "What's Your Fantasy". B. Wheras "Southern Hospitality" introduced Luda's tough side; this shows his playful side. It's not really about anything, but has alot of energy and zest to keep it flowing through out. And it also happens to be a very fun debut single.
(17) Craig David "Fill Me In" A. It took some time for Craig David to hit "the States", but it was well worth the wait. The material goes much deeper than expected and certain sections have a strange dimension to them. This is a fast paced, cool pop song that remains in your head well after.
(18) Dido "ThankYou" A. Dido is one of the most amazing female artists working today. Unlike Britney and Christina, she avoids flashy beats and sex appeal; in the end, leaving true, deep, heartfelt ballads. "ThankYou" is no exception as it is very powerful, soothing and beautiful. A great song for the album's finale.
Bottom Line: ****. This is an exceptionlly solid collection of mainstream music in 2001. Every song on here is good and the end result is a highly enjoyable disc. A glorious victory for "Totally Hits" and a nice addition to the world of hits compilations.

Snoop Dogg Post Deathrow (Rating: 8 out of 10- -4 stars).......2007-02-26
Obviously we have a bunch of idiot reviewers here. People who give this one star and claim that stuff from Doggystyle isn't on here must not know what the hell is going on. There is a Snoop Doggy Dogg's Deathrow's Greatest Hits CD that has stuff from Snoop made from 1993-1997. This is what Snoop made from 1998-2003. Did you even think for a second that Suge Knight was going to give Snoop the rights to his older material? There are many gems on here include one of his best songs "B Please" which is my favorite song from him post Death Row.
I don't give it a perfect rating because some of his hit song were lack luster. This is a perfect overview of what Snoop made since he left Death Row Records. Don't listen to these one and two star reviewers. People claim to be Snoop Dogg fans, but are obviously not knowing the situation at hand.
Good, But There Are Songs Are Missing .......2006-11-03
This is a good CD but there are songs missing. Snoop Dogg doesn't own any of his Deathrow songs anymore, he signed all his deathrow songs over to Suge. So songs like the original Gin And Juice, The original What's My Name, and Doggfather aren't on here.
Snoop dogg.......2006-07-11
First off this is The Best of Snoop Dogg not Snoop Doggy Dogg so of course there won't be any of the old tracks on this. If you want the best of Snoop Doggy Dogg go get Death Row's Snoop Doggy Dogg's Greatest Hits.
Anyway this is for any fan of Snoop it has all his best songs from his No Limit released albums with the hits Lay Low, Still A G Thang, Woof!, B Please, From Tha Chuuuch To Da Palace, Loosen Control, Beautiful, and What's My Name Pt.2 plus plenty of over great songs. With no doubt Snoop Dogg can't compare to the classic Snoop Doggy Dogg but Snoop changed and we can't do anything about it.
Anyway if you are a fan of the new Snoop than this is definitely for you but if you are only a fan of the old snoop than you probably won't like this that much.
After this it's not such a bad idea to get another Snoop album but I would say this is a good place to start your collection.
Not What the Title Promises.......2006-05-17
Okay, first let me just say I understand that this is a collection of Snoop's material ranging from 1998 through 2002 (his days on the No Limit label). I also understand that crafting a greatest hits album is never an easy task. Everyone has their personal favorites and not every good track can make the final cut.
The thing is, greatest hits albums are designed for the casual fan. For someone who likes the artist's music, but doesn't want to shell out the cash for all the albums. So, the question in determining whether or not you have a winning compilation is not would it satisfy the hardcore fans, but would it satisfy someone who just wants the best of the best. This "best of" collection would not.
If the album had been titled, "The Best of Snoop Dogg's No Limit Years" or "Snoop Dogg: 1998-2002", I think I would take less issue with it's release. But the fact is, this title is just misleading to the customer. Snoop's "biggest" hits almost all came from his Death Row days but you won't find "What's My Name?", "Gin & Juice" or "Doggy Dogg World" here. Hell, even "My Heart Goes Boom," one of the best cuts from the No Limit years is missing.
But enough about what isn't here. Let's talk about what is here. The best song on this compilation is easily "Beautiful" and "The One and Only" is also quite good. But the Stone Cold Steve Austin Theme? What's My Name and Gin and Juice......Part II? Several other songs the casual fan hasn't even heard of?
The bottom line is I don't think someone who just wants the best of Snoop's material should begin here. The prior-released Death Row's Snoop Doggy Dogg Greatest Hits offers more of Snoop's best songs, but also some uneven rarities. I would suggest a casual fan just buy a copy of "Doggystyle." Honestly, it contains most of the best work Snoop has ever done and I think it might be good enough to convince you to listen to what Snoop has produced since. Some of this "Best of" collection may be all right, but if I thought this was truly the Dogg's best work, I wouldn't be too eager to listen to the rest. Do yourself a favor and pass this one by.
Snoop has many Good songs.......2006-03-13
Like The Other Reviwers Said It is Hard Making a greatest Hits Cd For snoop For What ever Reasons.Snoop Dogg Has a Alot Of good songs Ranging from Deep Cover To The 213 collaboration to Tha Church Volume. If He has another Greatest Hits Cd.He Should Consider Having a 2 Disc Cd with 20+ Songs each.Who knows mabee when he decides to stop doing solo Cd's mabee he will drop a bomb of greatest hits.

Snoop's second album for the No Limit label finds him in fine form--maybe the finest since Doggystyle. On Top Dogg, Snoop has taken control of his own album; in working with a number of producers (Dr. Dre, Ant Banks, Raphael Saadiq, DJ Quick, and the Beats by the Pound team), he takes the best each has to offer and forces them to play to his own strengths. Though there are a few gangsta tracks on Top Dogg ("My Heat Goes Boom," with its "boom boom boom" chorus, is one of the album's best), the strongest songs here are the ones on which Snoop gets creative. There are a pair of tributes to Slick Rick--"Snoopafella," a Cinderella story on which Snoop aces Rickey's flow, and "G Bedtime Stories," which opens with a little kid asking "Uncle Snoop Dogg" to read him a bedtime story--and a few tracks built around classic samples (of George Clinton's "Black Hole Theme," Earth, Wind & Fire's "Shining Star," and even Brick's "Dazz"). There may not be anything here as transcendent as "Gin and Juice," but that's a minor complaint; Top Dogg is Snoop's best album in years. --Randy Silver

An Excellent Effort By Snoop Dogg, His Best Work Besides 'Doggystyle'.......2007-06-10
Snoop Dogg's catalog is not the most consistent (he has good, decent, and awful albums), but we can all agree that 'Doggystyle' is a good release. 'No Limit Top Dogg' is probably his best work besides that classic album, and despite being on No Limit, this doesn't contain the cheesy production of 'Da Game Is To Be Sold...'.
The raw, dark production on some tracks like 'Buck 'Em', '. In Love With A Thug', and the excellent single 'Down 4 My N's' (which brings back good memories of better times for me) are just what the doctor ordered, and the funky 'Snoopfella' is a top-notch return to form for Snoop. Most of the album is good, especially the laid back classic 'Gangsta Ride' and the creative 'Ghetto Symphony'. Even No Limit's goons do a great job as special guests here, and Dr. Dre provides production for tracks like 'B*tch Please' which features well-known guests Xzibit and Nate Dogg. Is this Snoop's best work? Possibly. His rhymes are great here, the beats are inspired, and even the guests are great (even though certain ones drag the album down a bit). Even if you lost faith in Snoop and someone skipped over this one, check it out. It's still worth bangin' today.
Solid 4th Album From Tha Doggfatha (4.25 stars).......2007-05-06
As a proud owner of all Snoop's solos, 2 Eastsidaz albums and the 213 album from 2004, I can easily say this one is one of his better albums. The production on this album rocks with some dope latter day (1999) G-Funk from a bevy of dope producers. "Snoopafella" gets his story tellin' on over a sick Ant Banks (he rarely if ever dissapoints!) sampling "Dazz." "Gangsta Ride" feat Silkk The Shocker is a hot rider anthem over a bouncy Meech Wells westcoastin beat. DJ Quik heats up the boards with his melodic funk on "Buss'n Rocks" and the silky "Don't Tell" (f/ Mausberg, Nate Dogg, and Warren G). "My Heat Goes Boom" is a nice Gangsta track with Snoop kickin some real game. Snoop seems at ease and comfortable and his rhymes reflect that. A couple tracks are weak, such as the boring "Ghetto Symphony" with the No Limit homies and the overly slow "Somethin' Bout Yo Bidness," but Snoop makes up for them with tracks like the Dr. Dre banger "Just Dippin'" a nice way to bring the 2 back together over a nice laidback rider beat and the fast paced "20 Minutes" with Goldie Loc; both kick in some fast paced gangsta rhymes over a bouncy beat that could only come outta Long Beach; it was produced by Goldie Loc too. "I Love My Momma" is really self-explanatory with a nice older sounding G-Funk beat from Meech Wells. Overall, a good album by S.N. dubble O. P.
Best since Doggystyle.......2006-01-05
In my opinion this is Snoop's second best album even today, behind you guessed it, Doggystyle. That said it isn't even close to being as good as Doggystyle, but it is still a good album and after Da Game... and the slightly dissapointing Doggfather this can be viewed as a comeback almost.
Da Game.... featured No Limit production and loads of appearances by No Limit rappers, and as a result was wack, both have been cut back here. Snoop must have put his foot down and asked to bring in his own producers for No Limit Top Dogg, including of course Dre, for the first time since Doggystyle. There are also less No Limit rappers (any is too many though) featured, but surprisingly few appearances by his old West Coast homies. Anyway best track is easily B*tch Please, which is a classic in any era, Snoop's verses are tight but Xzibit is really the star of this track, as he makes what was really his mainstream breakthrough. My other top tracks are Buck Em, Just Dippin (both Dre produced unsuprisingly), Betta Days, Down 4 my Nig*az and Trust Me. Snoop also displays his impressive storytelling abilities on Snoopafella, where he basically re-tells Cinderella from his perspective. Most of the other tracks are at least good, and the production for the most part is tight, though the album is not without filler (Gangsta Ride, In Love With A Thug).
Overall this is an impressive album from Snoop, yes it is not Doggystyle, I don't think there ever will be another one. People have the tendency to mark Snoop albums against Doggystyle, rather than on their own merit unfortunately though. I'd give it 4 stars, recommended.
Brought the West Coast back!.......2005-09-30
B Please!
That's all I have to type to let you know how great and important this album in hip-hop was. I've since blasted Snoop for his waste of talent (and he is INCREDIBLY talented...let's not forget that!), but this CD is him and Master P actually working together to release a product that they were, no doubt, pleased with. It's good, but not the greatest thing since "Me Against the World." If you're looking for a solid Snoop album (pre his "Britney Spears years") this is one you need to add your repetoire!
not that good.......2005-08-02
snoop dogg is not topp dogg of no limit.this cd is of. some good songs. best songs are buck em,down 4 my n*ggas, bitch please, symphony, and don't tell.

Amazon.com essential recording
Produced by the infamous Dr. Dre with assistance from Mr. Suge Knight, Doggy Style was the first solo outing by Calvin Broadus a.k.a. Snoop Doggy Dog. Incorporating a straight gangsta vibe into the deep funk grooves pioneered by George Clinton and his Parliament-Funkadelic ensemble, Snoop and Dre dogmatically invent the "G-Funk" aesthetic. Espousing an irreverent dope, bitches, and guns mentality, Doggy Style garnered the Parental Advisory for explicit lyrics it sorely deserved. Still, Snoop's lazy-yet-acrobatic rap/drawl is distinctive and undeniably entertaining. With additional vocals from Tha Dogg Pound (Nate Dogg, Warren G, Kurupt, and Dat Nigger Daz), this disc is deceptively professional and musically quite slick. "Murder Was The Case" is practically an inner-city classic, while "Ain't No Fun" is another blunted, urban-rap anthem. Woof! --Mitch Myers

snoop's finest!.......2007-02-19
This is one of the best hip hop albums you will ever hear. Dr. Dre puts his beats in perfect syncronization with the Dogg's lyrics. It is just so smooth. Everyone knows about the high quality of Gin and Juice and Who Am I?, but songs like Tha Shiznit, Gz and Hustlas and Pump Pump are where the album truly shines. It is extremely easy to listen to the whole album all the way through and want to listen to it again and again. A home run for hip hop and music!
SNOOP AT HIS FINEST, RAP AT ITS FINEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-10-07
Look i'd just like to say that this album is classic from top to bottom. This along with The Chronic are the albums that basically got gangsta rap mainstream. There is not one second of this that I am not completely in love with, every song is an absolute classic. There are the hardcore gangsta rap songs with ill lyrics such as Tha Shiznit, Murder Was The Case, Serial Killa, For All My N***** & B******, Gz And Hustlas and Pump Pump. Then there are party songs like Gin And Juice and Who Am I. I have never heard Snoop rhyme so amazingly well as he does here then the guest appearances are all great. Plus don't forget the classic production handled by Dre. All you rap fans out there better cop this or else your not the rap fan you think you are. Also cop The Chronic, Murder Was The Case Soundtrack and All Eyez On Me.
5 Out Of 5 - Though Snoop's career after this has been hit and miss he will always have this to show as a masterpiece.
5 Stars Just Isn't Enough, I wish I could give it 5000000 stars!!!!.......2006-07-21
This an absolutely fantastic album!!! This may be the only gangsta rap album you'll ever need its so great!!! Well theres only 11 songs but they are all classics and this is definitely my favourite gangsta rap album. Well thanks to Dr Dre the production is absolutely untouchable with kick a** beats that all match Snoop's flow perfectly. Then the guest appearances are not a let down though Snoop is a million times better, they are still great. I'm speechless, I feel like buying this again its so great, I simply can't get enough of this stuff. I think its such a shame that Snoop later made such rubbish albums like Rhythm And Gangsta when he proved how incredibly talented he was in his debut.
Here are my ratings
1. Bathtub 5/10 I usually hate skits but I don't mind this one.
2. G Funk Intro 10/10 Fantastic start to the album!!! Intros don't get much better than this.
3. Gin And Juice 10/10 Classic, this is my favourite hit from the album. A fantastic song about Snoop's favourite drink.
4. Tha Shiznit 10/10 Classic, god this is absolutely incredible. Why the f*** did tjhis not become a hit.
5. Lodi Dodi 10/10 Classic, again absolutely amazing. A very laid back story about what Snoop does every day. This is one you can just chill to.
6. Murder Was The Case 10/10 Classic, a dark tale with dark beats. Another of my favourites.
7. Serial Killa 10/10 Classic, tight a** beats with great appearances by Tha Dogg Pound.
8. Who Am I? (What's My Name?) 10/10 Classic, my second favourite hit and this is another handsdown amazing song. This is the sort of song you can just nod your head to while driving.
9. For All My N***** & B****** 9/10 With no Snoop it can't get 10/10. However its a classic Dogg Pound song.
10. Ain't No Fun (If The Homies Can't Have None) 10/10 Classic, fantastic song with a kick a** chorus by the legendary Nate Dogg.
11. Doggy Dogg World 10/10 Classic, my third favourite hit. Another song you can just chill to.
12. Gz And Hustlas 10/10 Classic, incredible, Snoop sounds the most angry in this one. This is another song you can just nod your head to while driving.
13. Pump Pump 10/10 Classic, full of hype like Tupac's Holler If You Hear Me. Another song you can nod your head to while driving.
I very strongly recommend this album. Trust me its worth every penny you pay for it.
Finally to Helen from Texas. I found it kind of obvious when reading your review that to write a neg comment for each song you either just made it up or got help from the title. Why don't you actually go listen to this and then tell me its wack? And the fact that you think Nelly is the realest hip hop artist ever means you know nothing about hip hop. Don't post reviews saying who you think is a real hip hop artist and who you think sucks when you know absolutely nothing about what real hip hop is.
Original Work of ART.......2006-01-16
I bought this CD in 1993 when the original version came out. It had 19 tracks, not 18 or 13. The real track 18 is "Gz Up, Hoes Down" and Track 19 is "Pump, Pump." I didn't even realize that later releases had tracks removed until I started looking for the album art for my iPod.
This album is a classic. if you want to buy it try to get the original with NINETEEN TRACKS. Don't allow yourself to miss Snoop in his full artistic form. This is definitely one of the Top Ten CD of All Time.
The essential rap album.......2006-01-11
If I had to choose only one album to listen to for all-time, this would be it. This is the album that got me into rap, and if you haven't heard it already, then go buy it!
Highly, highly recommended!

All that's missing from this World Wrestling Foundation-sanctioned compilation is a version of Limp Bizkit's "Break Stuff." A shrewd marketing move and sometimes even good music, WWF Aggression collects rap takes on 13 theme songs from the televised extravaganzas that brought mega-fame to the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mankind, and even biz honcho Vince McMahon. The tone here is mostly curse-free rap with gangsta and occasional rock overtones. Highlights include Method Man's "Know Your Role," Snoop Dogg and W.C.'s "Hell Yeah," and "No Chance," which brings together Redman, Rock, and turntablist Peanut Butter Wolf. Special mention must be made of "Wreck," which partakes less of the cartoon macho that makes these artists fine matches for their subjects than it does of just plain weirdness. But what else would you expect of a space-odyssey tale recited by Kool Keith and ODB? --Rickey Wright

And as far as a hip-hop album, this is a very good one.
The likes of R.A. the Rugged Man show up, alongside W.C., Kool Keith, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Peanut Butter Wolf, Method Man, Mack 10, and more. There's an impressive line-up of talent here. When I first got an idea of the names appearing on this album, I was confused as hell, thinking "WWF what?" I don't know anything about WWF, I saw the Rock in that movie where he fought the philipino kid in the jungle, that's about it. But I give an exemplary recommendation to this album, directed strongly at fans of hip-hop.
Notable favorites were "Wreck" with some strange and oddly poetic lyricism, two welcome verses from W.C. on "Hell Yeah," and a surprise show from Peanut Butter Wolf with "No Chance." I love Rugged Man, but wasn't particularly impressed by his track this time around.
If you're familiar with some of the names I've dropped here, I cannot say good enough things about this album. If directed here through interest in WWF, just be cautious and like rap if you want to buy this.
Phat even today.......2005-09-03
This album still lives by me as 1 of my fav Hip Hop albums. Despite some of the poor reviews & the like i still find it very enjoyable. Hell i listened to the whole thing 2day even. Ill run thru the tracks for you & tell you of the cut tracks that were kept on the album as well. The only thing i dont like about it is that its cenored. Apart from that job well done WWE.
1. The Kings by Run DMC (RIP JMJ): Very damn catchy & anyone who has seen the video, thats cool too. 1 of the more recognizable songs on the album & it really stands out. DX Music is kept & it makes it all the better.
2. Wreck by Kool Keith & ODB (RIP 2 u 2): Some people dont like this song, personally i like it, ODB is very whack & catchy & so is Kool Keith, i liked the McD's line, anyway hook is alright.
3. Know Your Role by Method Man: Now this guy did his homework. He captured lots of the Rocks sayings & punchlines in here, very well done, hook is abit irritating after a million times a listen but very good song
4. Hell Yeah by Snoop Dogg & W.C: This song rocked with Dub-C on the verse & Snoop on the hook, definitly a favourite track, very catchy & keeps the Stone Cold theme.
5. No Chance by Redman & Rock of Heltah Skeltar feat. Peanut Butter Wolf: This song has been said as weak but personally this really is a song that gets to grow on you eventually. Redman is good & the hook is pretty decent
6. I Wont Stop by C-Murder & Magic: This song is pretty cool with a good hook, suits the Gangrel theme, i liked the random laughter & stuff, very creepy
7. Big Red Machine by Tha Eastsidaz: good references & lyrics, Kanes theme is sorta kept here, hook is evil but anyway this is Kane afterall.
8. Break Down The Walls by RA The Rugged Man: a very catchy, good hook & enjoyable song. Good job
9. You Aint Hard by Technice (or however you spell it) & Bad Azz: this song is funny & has good punchlines. hook is rememberable & catchy, i liked it.
10. Pimpin' Aint Easy by Ice-T: great song, good theme 4 Ice-T, handled very well.
11. Game by Mystikal & Ras Kass: great angry song with a very dang out there hook. suits i loved this song.
12. Big by Mack 10, K Mac, Boo Kapone & MC Eiht: using shows theme puts together a decent song, A Hoo-Banging family song, alright but could of done better.
13. Ministry by Dame Grease presents Meeno (or just Meeno): great song produced by Dame Grease & Meeno was out there with the theme, excellant song & what a way to wrap up the album.
Cut songs:
Kane by Method Man: Very damn catchy & is actually sung over Kane's theme (old school 1), download @ Wu-Tang Clan's official site
thats all i got this against my mums wishies when i was little. Its a great hip hop album & 2 videos were made in conjunction with this Know Your Role & The Kings. Also Ice-T performed his @ a Wrestlemania years ago.
Surprisingly Good.......2005-04-03
This cd really suprised me and WWE surprised me by the amount of talent they brought in to work on this, instead of just a bunch of low card no-namers just lookin for a break. This is actually a good cd for anyone who loves wrestling or even if u hate wrestling but are a rap fan. My applause to every artist who worked on this album and to WWE for actually trying.
WWF AGGRESION.......2005-02-05
This is a tight cd with many talented rappers on it like Run DMC, Kool Keith, Bad Azz, Ras Kass, MC Eiht, Redman,WC, Snoop Dogg and a load of others, they do rap versions of the WWF themes like D-generation X, Mankind, Kane, Stone Cold, Big Show, Godfather and others. Some of my favorites are "Pimpin aint easy" by Ice-T (Godfather's Theme), "No Chance" by Peanut Butter Wolf, Redman and Rock of Heltah Skeltah (Vince McMahon Theme) Stone Cold's is done by WC & Snoop, DX is done by Run DMC which is tight. Mankind's is done by the ol' dirty bastard and Kool Keith, Kane's is done by The Eastsiderz, New Age Outlaws is doneby RA the Rugged Man, Gangrel's is by C-Murder, Big Show's is by Boo Kapone and MC Eiht.
Overall this is tight 4.5/5
Buyit if you like Wrestling and rap mixed togetehr
And that's all I have to say about that.
The Greatest Album.......2004-11-17
This was one of the best albums I have ever heard in my entire life. It reminds me of Rossler, Mike, Joey, all calling for me outside my window and saying AAACEEEE can you come outside and play Playstation one or come outside and play scream. and it was during the times when mike (listen to this this is a shock) actually liked rap. and Mike no im not talking about bogus' Notorious BIG album "Life After Death" i am not talking about that. i am talking about something else. remember when you said you liked DMX and Eminem. remember that mike. remember when you said girls are icky. dont lie to me because even rossler said girls are nasty. he said he hates them. but now both of you are hypocrites. WHY!!?? and joey used to call you Frank, Franks. but now they dont even call you Frank no more. WHY?? mike im still gonna call you frank because you are fat and you need to be taught a lesson about surviving. you really need to survive and you dont even like your xbox anymore. you used to come over and play super nintendo and you said its cool and you used to play that basketball game with me but now you turned into a monster. o yea and rossler used to like resident evil and used to be the king at that. but now he transformed into a monster as well and i was trying to convince joey to wear his albanian shirt and his Chicago Bulls 23 Jordan jersey but he doesnt even wanna wear it no more. WHY!!!!??? mike im trying to help you the world is coming to an end if you dont follow me. mike if you think about it i used to have lots of power over everyone. remember when i created the first colt. remember J.A.K.?? remember how i was able to let matt, rossler, you, joey, johnathan get into my group and rebel against one person and fight. it reminds me of that song that eminem song "Mosh" because in his lyrics he says "Come along, follow me,as I lead through the darkness As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed Carry on,give me hope, give me strength Come with me,and I wont steer you wrong Put your faith in your trust, as I guide us through the fog To the light at the end of the tunnel we gon' fight
We gon' charge, we gon' stomp
We gon' march through the swamp
We gon' mosh through the marsh
Take us right through the doors" NOW IMAGINE us all in SOG or JAK and singing this and saying we gon charge we gon stomp and me saying carry on give me hope give me strenght. but now look at what you guys have done to the world and done to me. before i had alot of power to bring you guys together and attack everything that destroyed us. but now nobody is gonna listen to me anymore because i have been impeached and i was out of power. but now look at the results of everything that has happend so far. Matt used to be a good guy and really nice to hang out with, he also followed me as a SOLDIER and as a Warrior when he was in JAK, but now all that Weed infected his brain and he refused to stop when i told him to stop. if i had kept going with him id probably ended up a smoker and i hate cigarettes i never wanna be a smoker EVER because people who smoke think there cool. and rossler changed because he drinks and i told him to stop drinking and now i have no control over him no more i used to tell him do this and do that and i remember back then in 2001 i told him "Follow me and i lead through the darkness as i provide just enough spark carry on give me hope give me strenght come with me and i wont steer you wrong" but now i have no control over him, before i did back then when he was only 13 years old and i was like 15. but now i have no control cuz hes 17 and im 18. Dont worry when i turn 21 or 24 ill get my power back. Fat Frank Mike has obviosly changed because he hates PS2, he broke up with his Xbox for someone else, he doesnt listen to me no more, He B ridin on the West Coast, he keeps hanging up on me, he hates Rap Music, and no one calls him frank no more. i mean your brother doesnt listen to rap no more because he listens to gangsta rap and it doesnt exist no more. i remember telling him do you listen to crunk music, and he told me, "Hell Nah Playa, crunk music it aint gangsta" and your brother went mainstream because he got a nextel. so everyone HEAR MY WORDS NAS IS COMING, ACE IS COMING.......It Was Written, and dont forget to get Fluffyville's new album, "Villmatic", and Angabear's new album, "Ace's son"

Chuck D of Public Enemy once prophesized that if artists didn't own their masters (tapes), the masters will own the artists. Well, hip-hop's fave gangster CEO Suge Knight owns most of his former high-profile label mates' master tapes and continues to issue collections of dated works by Tha Dogg Pound, Dr. Dre, and now Snoop. Originally entitled Dead Man Walking to scare the willies out of Snoop, this release comes with a big fat greasy caveat emptor. Sure, this is a ghetto fab collection of the Doggfather's finest pre-No Limit and Doggystyle Records moments dating back to his brilliant cover of Biz Markie's "Vapors" on Tha Doggfather album. That said, Snoop wants nothing to do with this release because he won't receive any proceeds from it and has urged his fans not to buy it. Contractual shenanigans aside, this release is off the hook and contains most of Snoop's finest career headbangers, from "Gin and Juice" to "Who Am I (What's My Name)." A great purchase if you can live with your conscience. --Dalton Higgins

Not That Great.......2006-05-30
Now this is by far the worst greatest hits I've ever seen. First off Suge Knight is stealing money off Snoop by realeasing stuff like this. Most of the unreleased songs shouldn't have seen the light of day, well I like Eastside Party and Midnight Love but the rest are totally wack. It also is missing some of the hits like Snoop's Upside Ya Head, Dre Day, 2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted, Wanted Dead Or Alive, Tha Doggfather and Lil Ghetto Boy. I suppose Suge is planning to come back with a volume 2 greatest hits with a whole lot more crappy unreleased tracks. They could have beefed up Dead Man Walkin but Suge is gonna get as much money off Snoop as he can. It does have really good classics but this is not Greatest Hits seeing half of them are unreleased and some classics are omitted.
Anyway my ratings for the songs are
1. Nuthin But A G Thang 10/10 Classic with Dr Dre, great beats
2. Head Doctor 9/10 One of the best tracks from Dead Man Walkin
3. Gin And Juice 10/10 Classic, my favourite famous song from Doggystyle
4. Eastside Party 10/10 Snoop in all verses and Nate Dogg in the chorus, this was worth releasing
5. Murder Was The Case Remix 10/10 I'm not sure which I like better, this or the original version. Their both great
6. Ain't No Fun (If The Homies Can't Have None) 9.5/10 Even though some of the lyrics are a bit purverted its still great with bangin beats
7. Doggfather Remix 6/10 Don't like this, it has no business being on here and Tha Doggfather original version should be on here instead
8. Midnight Love 10/10 Another unreleased that was definitely worth releasing. My favourite unreleased track with Eastside Party being my second
9. Eastside 6/10 I don't think that this song was meant to ever be released
10. Who Am I? (What's My Name?) 10/10 Classic, my second favourite famous song from Doggystyle
11. Doggy Dogg World 10/10 My third favourite famous song from Doggystyle, the beats are good and relaxing
12. Too High (Poly High) 7/10 Another song that shouldn't have seen the light of day
13. Vapors 10/10 Bangin beats, solo where Snoop talks about the lives of all the members of Tha Dogg Pound
14. Usual Suspects 8/10 This songs alright, but its still not top quality
15. Keep It Real 1/10 Hate this song, definitely shouldn't have been released. Snoop doesn't even have one verse on this
16. Snoop Bounce Roc N Roll Remix 5/10 This song is wack! Where's Snoop Bounce original version.

Half and half.......2006-03-06
Includes 16 songs of which I liked 8: These are "Nuthin' but a 'G' thang", "Head doctor", "Gin and juice", "Eastside party", "Ain't no fun", "Midnight love", "Who I am" and "Doggy dogg world" These are. I don't care about the rest, because Snoop isn't my favorite rapper. Anyways he's a gifted man and I think he could do better things.
Pretty Good.......2006-01-28
This album was released by former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight without the consent of Snoop Dogg himself. It contains all the hit singles from Snoop's 2 Death Row albums: "Doggystyle" and "The Doggfather". Included are the G-funk era classics like "Nuthing But A G Thang" (originally from Dr. Dre's "The Chronic"), "Murder Was The Case (Remix)", "Ain't No Fun" and of course, "Gin & Juice", "Doggy Dogg World" and "Who Am I (What's My Name)". In order to fill out the album, many previously unreleased vault recordings are also included. The best of these are Timbaland's remix of "Doggfather", the slinky late-night romp "Midnight Love" and the summer anthem "Too High (Poly High)". Some of the other vault recordings sound dated, and pale in comparison to the classics, making the album sound rather inconsistent in quality. Nonetheless, if you are looking for all of Snoop's Death Row era hits on one disc, this is probably the best sampler for you. Overall, this is a pretty good "Best Of" from Snoop, considering he has switched labels several times, and it is near impossible to get a comprehensive compilation of his music anywhere. RECOMMENDED for Snoop's casual fans, as well as hardcore fans who want to get their hands on a few good remixes.
good album But could have been better.......2005-01-05
This is a really good album but for a greatist hits It's a little bit disapointing especialy considering that it's made by Snoop Dogg who is a West Coast legend. Although this album isn't as good as it should be it still has some classic songs like "murder was the case", "It aint no fun", "Gin and Juice", "Who am i(whats my name)" and of course "nuthin but a G thang". But Unfortunately most of the other songs on the album dont live up to those songs I just mentioned. The main reason why this album isn't as good as it should be is because That death row records only had 2 albums by Snoop to use to create his greatist hits. This album is worth gettin but your probably better of just buying "Tha Dogg"

One of the finest "alt-country" albums ever made.......2007-05-18
This is my all-time favorite album by alt-country troubadour Guy Clark... A founding member of the legendary Austin scene, Clark is considered one of the finest songsmiths in modern country music... This 1981 masterpiece captures him at his most good-natured and joyful... The album is packed with gems such as "Rita Ballou," "New Cut Road," "She's Crazy For Leaving," "The Partner Nobody Chose," and "Heartbroke," which he co-wrote with Rodney Crowell. It's the kind of album you'll love to crank up to full volume and sing along with... Thank goodness it's finally back in print!
Best Of! .......2007-05-14
As a big fan of Guy Clark, "South Coast Of Texas" happens to be my ultimate favorite of his many releases that I own one way or the other or both [CD/LP]. I just couldn't figure WHY in the heck it took so long for it to become available on CD.
Every tune here, I give at least an A or 5*. The LP/CD starts off with "Who Do You Think You Are", a tune I'd sing/recite for my coworkers often [and I'm not from Texas, but have been to Ft. Worth] it's easy to see why a Rodney Crowell would be 'soooo' interested/inclined in/to covering a lot of Guys' songs/tunes/compositions/lyrics.
If you like anything in the Country/Blues/Americana/Folk Genre's, you HAVE to add this GEM to your collection. This is an easy MUST-HAVE.
Take also a special listening to "Crystelle", "New Cut Road", "Rita Ballou", "Heartbroke", "She's Crazy For Leaving", and "Calf Rope".
Trust Me. If you don't care for the aforementioned, you're tracking down the wrong road.

3.5 star album from the "Eastsidaz".......2006-11-21
Their 3rd group album, if you want to call it that, comes 4 years after thier 2nd and best album. Most of these seem like they are from 2000 - 2001 time frame and just were never used. With 17 songs, you get some more of the Eastsidaz, Goldie Loc is on all 17 songs, Tray Deee is on 15 and Snoop is only on 7. Other guests drop in on about half teh songs as well. Of the 17 songs, 1 is almost a classic, 1 I skip, 7 are ok and the other 8 are good, nothing great though. Production credits aren't given but I know Battlecat does a few songs and Jelly Roll does at least 1. For their fans I'd cop this but they have much better work. As usual Tray Deee far outshines Goldie Loc with his nice raspy gangsta voice and tight flow, Goldie is average at best once again.
#1 - 7.5 (snoop, goldie, tray)
#2 - 8 (tray & goldie)
#3 - 7.5 (goldie, tray, snoop)
#4 - 8 (MC ren, tray, goldie)
#5 - 7.5 (tray, goldie, doggy's angels)
#7 - 7 (goldie, battlecat, tray deee, mr. maestro, and some1 else who isn't credited or good -- dirty song nice beat)
#8 - 8.5 (snoop, goldie, tray -- nice beat, dirty song)
#9 - 8 (goldie, tray, nate dogg -- nice beat, another dirty one)
#10 - 8.5 (tray, goldie, suga free, kokane -- nice beat and another dirty track)
#11 - 8.5 (goldie, tray, snoop, kokane -- funny hook and good beat)
#12 - 7.5 (goldie, tray, kokane, 40 glocc)
#13 - 9.5 (goldie, tray, redman -- great beat)
#14 - 6 (tray, goldie, snooP)

#16 - 8 (goldie, tray, jelly roll)
#17 - 7 (snoop, goldie)

Hot!...But..........2005-11-13
This is a weird CD. Not musically weird, because it may be one of the best recordings to come out of the west coast hip-hop scene in the last year or two (along with The Game's "The Documentary & Warren G's "In The Midnight Hour"). But weird in the fact that it seemingly came out of nowhere & the CD itself gives no clue as to it's origin. There are no liner notes, production credits or any information as to when or where it was recorded. The sound quality is excellent which is what matters most, but otherwise, this is very cheaply put together, for some reason. Even the cover photo of the group is out of focus. By all accounts, this is all new, or at least relatively new Eastsidaz material. Most of the usual suspects pop up for some good collabos. Nate Dogg, MC Ren(!), Kokane, Suga Free & even Redman guest on various tracks. Even familiar themes & skits, like the "WBallz" radio spots are included. However, the CD suffers to a degree, because there is about a 8 second silence between tracks which makes the flow of the album non-existent. Also, the sequencing is a little off as well. Max "The Mack" Julien has a great skit in the middle of the disc, but it would have been even better if it had been the CD's intro. There's also two bonus tracks, that go uncredited entirely. Some featured artist on certain tracks are uncredited also. Never mind all the minuses, though. True DPGC fans will be feeling this. With the exception of "Vegetarian" which is kind of a wack track that champions eating pork(?), it's tight all the way through. If it could find major label distrubution, and fix it's minor issues, this could be considered near classic material.
