Will someone tell me why Vangard has not released this in CD? This is one of the most interesting albums I have ever heard. As background music, or better yet just turn off the lights and lay on the couch, and turn it up. Just mesmerizing.
How do we go about getting this to the people? Write your congressman, write Vangard...or pay $139.99 for a used one.

like other great artists and creative people in the 60s-70s, Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, Buckley... Sandy Bull passed on. But anyone listening to his recordings will never forget or confuse him with any other guitarist. It's not just a 60s record, it's an inspirational record. If you play or enjoy really good guitar, get this.

Whenever the talk turns to "GREAT ARTISTS, WORLD SHAKERS...HEARD NO MORE". My first thought is always "what the hey happened to Sandy Bull."

Bring Back Sandy Bull Rhythmic Flow Master.......2000-05-20

Its nearly 30 years since I first heard this album and I still quote it as my all-time favourite music. All the world music fans who are band-wagoning on cross-cultural sounds should listen to this historically pioneering artist who blended North African and Middle Eastern textures within a western context into our experience, regrettably the experience of a small few, but hopefully a wider community of listeners to come. Not only important historically, but musically: a wide range of music genres over the last couple of decades have worked with drone-note principles and it is an increasingly common device, but Sandy Bull was/is a superlative master of utilising the drone sounds;understated but effective in creating sounds that vibrate and resonate within ones being in mesmeric meditative flow. Flow I think is an essential description of this album, for it is not an inane lift-lobby new age meditative music, and neither anything jarring, it is fluid and flowing, like a perfect wave unwinding along a perfect point. And the perfection of the music lies in the way it allows you like a surfer to find your own flowing journey along this mesmeric but spaciously unfolding wave. I kept this album for years until it almost wore out, taped it, held onto the precious tape...you get the idea. It amazed me to see him listed on this website. It sure would be SWELL if it could be reissued as a CD!!! It would be even sweller if he'd record something new!

Boston's Gigolo Aunts have been around since 1989, and while their guitar-based pop is always efficient, they remain unable to come up with a big hit single. In spite of its generic tendencies, the band has created a particularly coherent album that highlights the angelic voice of singer-guitarist Dave Gibbs. Enhanced by Mike Deeneen's sterling production and the rich vocal harmonies of guitarist Jon Skibic and bassist Steve Hurley, Gibbs's sweet falsetto is crystal clear and often enchanting. On "The Big Lie" the band receives vocal assistance from the Counting Crows' Adam Duritz and Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne. Wonderful album!.......2005-12-02

When I first bought this album, I didn't pay much attention to it... I played it once in a while, but not very often- until recently. I love this album now! And I just found out that Steven Hurley, the bassist for G.A., is an English teacher... AT MY SCHOOL!!! I've met him many times, and he loves to talk about the band. He talked about an upcoming tour in Spain. I suggest this album for all ages. You wont be dissapointed!

Pop At It's Most Pure.......2002-11-27

I can't add much analysis to what's already been layed down, but this album shows what "pop" can and should be, without the negatives that became associated with it in the wake of the grunge invasion. Now that we're in the hangover phase of that, this is just what's needed to bring back some solid ground for popular music. Maybe I'm biased since I grew up with most of these guys in the tiny obscure Northern New York town of Potsdam, but listening to how catchy and polished this album is, I'm really surprised they haven't managed to hit it big. Oh well, it's a solid album from top to bottom and it's still worth having in your collection. Also check out Full On Bloom and Flippin' Out, featuring the song "Where I Find My Heaven" from the awesome movie Dumb & Dumber!

Absolutely Brilliant!.......2001-08-04

I personally give this cd 10 stars. EVERY song on this cd is brilliantly written. The lyrics are very personal and reflective on their 10+ year career. My 3 fav tracks are "Everything is wrong" (the video for this is available on www.countingcrows.com under the music/video section), "The Big Lie", and "Everything is Wrong". i also own by them "Flippin Out" and "Learn To Play Guitar". They are both good, but dont compare to Minor Chords and Major Themes. If you like them, then check out "Joe 90", a similar style of music to them. They are both on Adam Duritz's (counting crows) label "E Plubibus Unum" and both appear on the song/video for counting crows "Hangin Around". GET IT ASAP!

power pop lives on.......2001-04-14

The Gigolo Aunts are a throwback to the heyday of 80's shimmering, jangly power pop. A couple of the tracks, especially the lush opening song, are reminiscent of the Posies. On other tracks they sound like a 90's version of the Three O'Clock (anybody remember them?); still others recall the Grapes of Wrath. The lead singer has a perfect pop tenor voice -- ranging from sweet crooning to urgent breathiness -- that reminds me of a little of Scott Miller of Game Theory. So yes, this has all been done before, but these guys carry on the proud tradition wonderfully. Check out especially the first three tracks, which come just about as close to pop heaven as you can get.

Wow-what a great CD. I purchased this CD mainly because of the reviews I had read online. I was a little unsure because I have the CD of their's entitled "Flippin Out" and found it uneven. There are great songs i.e. "Where I Fund My Heaven" and there are the not so great. This CD is quite another story. Solid from top to bottom. Song like "Every Thing Is Wrong" and "The Big Lie" have hit written all over them. I just wish they could get some exposure on radio. I sure hope they come somewhere close so I can catch them live. In the mean time I'm going to push our local modern rock station and see if I can get some of this played.

This album is great pop rock. Hubbard's vocals are pure and sweet while the supporting cast alternates between rocking and subtle backgrounds. The production is top-notch. This disc will really surprise you. If you like Big Star, then meet Neilson Hubbard.

This album is amazing. I got a chance to hear the album after buying it at a show last year. "Paper Star" is an amazing song with amazing potential. "Things Are Golden" is my fave, but theis album has many, many great songs. Buy it now or wish you had later...

what the world needs now ....is another duke daniels album

I receive this cd as a gift and it was a pleasant surprise. The hit songs Time Flies and Following A Star are great. But the rest of the album seems to flow well. I try to figure out who Duke daniels sounds like and nobody comes to mind. If you like this album check out the Pushstars album After the Party.

Awesome new music with a unique twist........1999-07-10

Dan has his own unique sound and is very versitale. "Following a Star" is my favorite and "Running on E" comes in second. These songs are very catchy and once you hear them you just can't get them off your mind. I'm sure glad I found this group and this CD because it was a very welcome change and a great addition to my collection. Dan's voice reminds me of the country singer, Charlie Daniels because it has a country twang and all of the songs are a mixture of country and rock.

This is rock, blues, soul and pop sung with engaging conviction and with a twist we haven't heard before, not quite like this. Duke is a true artist. He writes all the music and lyrics, sings, plays the guitar, and has played drums in previous bands, his talent comes through in every song. None of them sound like another so you get a great variety on one CD.
