Platinum sales. Palatial homes. Fred Durst's cell-phone number. Is nothing enough to lift the heavy air of angst that hangs over Staind? "I've mastered feeling nothing/ I'm dead inside/ Why don't I care?" sings frontman and walking existential crisis Aaron Lewis by way of response on "Run Away," the opening track of the group's fifth album. And so the mood is set--again. The rest of the band offers its agreement through brooding torrents of noise and dense minor-key melodies, maintaining its allegiance to 1990s metal heroes Alice In Chains and Pantera. With the exception of the tantalizingly melodic "Devil" and tender love song "Everything Changes," the acoustic guitars have largely been set aside on Chapter V, leaving Staind to pummel away at its troubles and hoping that people still have time to listen to self-pitying grown men moan about their dysfunctional childhoods. "Falling is easy/ It's getting back up that becomes a problem," Lewis sings on "Falling." --Aidin Vaziri

John Williams' lovely and moving score for the sixth Star Wars film brings thirty years of collaborating on George Lucas' beyond-popular intergalactic franchise to a close. (Is this really the end of Star Wars? Can't Lucas and Williams work together on a prequel to these prequels? Let us hope so, and that Jar Jar Binks is nowhere near it.) As this music accompanies the most exciting Star Wars film in many a moon, the soundtrack itself is more fun, more evil, more nasty and bumpy. Many of the heroic, anthemic themes woven throughout Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith will necessarily be familiar to any fan of the series, from the "Imperial March" to the main theme. It's remarkable how stirring the latter can be, no matter how many times you've heard it, and even for those who do not have all their money invested in S.W. memorabilia. There is a lot of new music here, and the lush, extensive range of both Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra is on display, most notably in the menacing, percolating "General Grievous" and the rousing "New Hope" end theme. --Mike McGonigal

Star Wars: A Musical Journey (2005) (V).......2007-06-21
product: Star Wars: A Musical Journey (2005) (V), included as bonus disc in Episode III soundtrack.
The bonus dvd with this soundtrack was the reason I purchased. I enjoy film soundtracks, and science fiction, but this dvd was a real highlight for me. I got the soundtrack cd out of the local library. The cd was missing from the case, but I found this wonderful dvd instead that I went out to purchase later.
With optional segments of dialog from Ian McDiarmid, this film is a stunning visual and musical overview of the full epic story of episodes I-VI of Star Wars. For those of us who felt that eps. IV-VI fell short of our expectations, this film presents them well as parts of the whole story. The Musical Journey also stands as a summary of the entire SW opus for someone who is not familiar with the Star Wars characters and plot. Highly recommended.

Not one of his bests, but very close.......2007-05-21
The Episode III soundtrack is very good. Not great, but very, very good. You can tell that Williams is getting old, but he still manages to weave together a very memorable score.
My favorite tracks are "Battle of the Heroes," "Anakin's Betrayal," Palpatine's teachings, "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan," and the "Immolation Scene."
The others are very good as well, but these are especially nice. "Battle of the Heroes" is Dual of the Fates for Revenge of the Sith. "Anakin's Betrayal" is a very sad track that is, in my opinion, one of William's most powerful pieces. "Palpatine's Teachings" is really, really neat. It's very dark and moody, a perfect piece for the evil emperor. The only weird thing is the end. "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan" is the action piece that plays during the battles of Anakin and Obi-Wan, and Yoda and the Emperor. Finally, "The Immolation Scene" is another sad piece, even more so than "Anakin's Betrayal."
Although I really like this CD, there are some things that are missing (as usual). First, the whole sequence where the droids are looking for Obi-Wan after he was shot. You see Obi-Wan in his ship with Senator Organa on the Hologram (or whatever it is), and Obi-Wan says that his clones turned on him. That was some pretty awesome music that OF COURSE was left out of the CD. Then there was Dual of the Fates in the movie, but completely absent from the CD. And probably the most annoying was that whole piece of music before Obi-Wan and Anakin fight. It was so touching and sad and I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY LEFT IT OUT! Absolutely amazing. Also, did anyone notice that some little bits were cut out? For example, in Anakin vs. Obi Wan, they cut out about a second or two of choir. What?! What the heck is with that? It's when Anakin is running on the long thing and jumps on the droid on the lava. Also, there was some pretty cool drumming when you see Yoda and the Emperor fighting, and you can see the whole stadium (the big room). There's also drumming in "Enter Lord Vader" that is muted in the soundtrack.
Oh well...if I'm going to collect movie scores, I'm going to have to get used to the fact that in almost all cases there's not going to be every bit of music. I've experienced this in both Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park I (there was very little left out on this score), and almost everything else. At the moment, I'm just waiting for the 22nd, for the Pirates of the Caribbean 3 soundtrack. It's gonna be amazing.

John Williams' finest work.......2007-04-20
There is little more I can say that hasn't already been said about the soundtrack to Episode 3, especially what Amazon contributor Dan Mohr wrote in his review of the soundtrack on 2/2/2006. His review captured almost all the thoughts, feelings, and emotions I had when I first listened to the soundtrack, and was, IMO, the best review of John Williams' greatest masterpiece.
Having said that, I will say that few soundtracks have ever so perfectly captured the underlying emotional currents of their respective movie; in the case of ROTS, the contemporaneous tragedies of Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, the extermination of the Jedi, and the rise of the oppressive Empire. The listener is confronted with the depth and totality of the evil that has beset the entire galaxy to a degree that the film could not reach in only 2 hours.
Bravo, Dan Mohr, and BRAVO John Williams!
A Great Conclusion to the Prequel Trilogy.......2007-04-07
This is a great work of art. I rank it 4th among Star Wars soundtracks after A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and The Phantom Menace. I had a hard deciding which I thought was better, The Phantom Meance or Revenge of the Sith, but I decided that The Phantom Menace lays the foundation for so much that is in this soundtrack and is thus the more masterful work. But that doesn't mean that this score still isn't great. Every piece is a thrill to listen to and pace never lets up. "Battle of the Hereos" is an amazing piece and the rendition of the "Funeral Theme" from Episoded I captures the film's tragety magnificently. Also I do not think John Williams could have portrayed the Jedi's extinction more perfectly than he did in "Anakin's Betrayal". This is without a doubt the best score of 2005 and one of the best of the decade.
Williams is slumming it.......2007-04-01
Williams's score for Revenge of the Sith is almost entirely overbearing, lacking any emotional subtlety. The music is overcomplicated and even a bit confusing, especially in the tracks that correspond to action sequences in the movie. His overuse of choral tracks and vocals is too bombastic and irritating to be listened to without the explosions and laser blasts of the soundtrack to soften them. (Yes, this music is actually softened by the sounds of warfare.) Worst of all, much of the music has simply been lifted from earlier scores. At times his self-imitation was so blatant that I actually wondered whether the editor who had complied this score had made a mistake and I was listening to The Empire Strikes Back or A New Hope. Also suffers from not including the entire score, in some cases cutting out musical segues in obvious and awkward ways.

A small step back to form........2007-04-21
To me, Staind really fell from grace with 13 Shades of Grey. I loved Tormented, Dysfunction, and Breaking the Cycle. 13 SHades was just watered down to the point where the only reason you could tell it was them was Aaron Lewis' vocals. The hard edge that was evident on their previous efforts was all but gone.
Chapter V is a step back towards Breaking the Cycle style Staind, but in no way comes close to the caliber of record that one was. Oh, well. I think we have seen the end of heavy Staind and will only see a more mainstream version from now on. As long as they stay similar to Chapter V and don't water themselves down any more, I will stay a fan regardless.
There is a reason why these guys are popular, great album!!!.......2006-12-13
This is a great fifth album from this boston based band. I have all of their albums from tormented to this one, and this one is really the most coalesced and solid album from them yet. There are many hits to be released on this album, like right here, schizophrenic conversations, falling ect... This band may have been part of the "nu metal" movement, but they continue to release good music that many people have chosen to like. Sure, it's not in the same class of metal as Iron Maiden, Neurosis, and Megadeth, some of my all time favorite bands, but it is great in it's own respect. Worth picking up, for a introduction to staind, or addition to a growing collection.
A Waste !!! I feel sorry for those who Deserve ...........2006-11-21
To be honest guys , bands such as staind, limpbizbit, taproot, disturbed, breaking benjamin and others are purely wasting all their albums. These guys take atleast 4-5 albums to better and change their music. Whereas there are many deserving bands out there who can make great music in just 1 or 2 records.....examples are acroma, revis etc...! and all these soo called rockstars of todays music do is scream, pout ,and make a 3-4 song the same verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge formula !! and well....they have a great knack of emulating the bands of the past decades..!! Its all true !!! Others deserve a break..! atleast these guys should gift away one album to those struggling talented bands.. !! but they wont...coz they r afraid !!! Damn them !!
Staind is not bad at all ! ..but just i have to say...whrs the originality and creativity..why try the same thing again and again and again !!! Guys.... Listen to TOOL and King Crimson ....which all these bands...rip off !!!!!
And the hits just keep on coming..........2006-08-16
While some may argue that Staind is becoming too soft compared to their earlier albums like Tormented and Dysfunction, that sentiment hasn't stopped them from putting out another great album packed with hits. This album blends their "hard core" metal beginnings with their greatly developed musical talents and abilities and the result is friggin brilliance. Aaron's vocals and Mike's guitar make this album worth buying.
Stop Hatin'.......2006-08-11
Poor Staind. No one ever seems to understand them. Their first two albums, "tormented" and "dysfunction" were hits, showcasing staind's heavy blend of hard rock, and frontman Aaron Lewis's screwed up family angst. But after "dysfunction" staind started to play down the heaviness, and focus on their musical abilities. Lewis dropped the screaming for the most part, but his angst stayed the same. Still, all the wimps hiding behind their message boards talked crap.
With this, their fifth release, Staind continue pretty much where "break the cycle" and "14 shades of grey left off" the lead single, right here, is a breathtaking piece, followed by many more. I recently saw Staindwith three days grace and hurt on the Jagermeister world tour, and their show was a breathtaking experience for me, my girlfriend and our 2 friends.
So everyone who doesnt believe in evolution...stop talkin crap and go listen to your crappy pop-emo bands.........stop disrespecting legitimate artists like staind

Masters of Chant Chapt. II:Gregorian.......2007-04-14
I found the soothing harmonies and lush musicianship of the CD quite relaxing. I found it stimulating in a contemplative manner, stirring rich emotions and thoughts. I have bought other CDs by this group, and will buy more--as time goes by.
I would love to listen to it, but ..........2006-11-16
... note the warning (which I didn't spot) that the disc is copy-protected. On the disc cover itself it notes that it cannot be played on a computer -- meaning no ripping the music to your PC (to listen to yourself) or to your MP3 player (to listen to yourself). Which makes its utility almost nil.
If you're only going to listen to this on a CD player, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Otherwise, you're out of luck.
Just beautiful.........2005-10-14
I first heard this music while looking around in a store called Enchantments while in Maine over the summer. I asked the employees what this music was, & they pointed out the Gregorian Masters of Chant CDs. I own the 2nd & 3rd CDs & plan to buy The Dark Side very soon.
To be brief, this CD is amazing! I listen to it all of the time. The singing is just beautiful, & these guys did an awesome job at these songs. My favorite is Babylon, because is sounds eerie, but beautiful, at the same time. Wish You Were Here & Stairway to Heaven sound amazing as well. The whole CD sounds amazing!
I'd recommend this CD, along with the rest of the Gregorian Masters of Chant CDs, to anyone who's looking for some music that would be great to sit & relax to. I have enjoyed their CDs very much, & their CDs definitely earn at LEAST 5 stars! =D *Gives 2 thumbs up*
Stunning..........2005-10-03
The first Gregorian Album i bought. Fromt he first track "Moment of Peace" i fell in love with it. It is so "atmospheric" listening to it in the dead of night transports you to a Church, a feeling of being surrounded by Holistic sounds.
Babylon is also good, givign an eerie sense o the song.
Overall a good album to listen to. It spurred me to buy the other albums as well. =)

Customer Reviews:
A singer with great talent.......2007-07-26
Everything other reviewers have said about his voice is true. He has a terrific voice and has learned how to use it with great skill. This is no pop icon who relies on recording engineers to make him sound good - he is a real singer. I'll go so far as to say that if George Fredrick Handel were alive today and writing contemporary music, he'd be writing songs for Anthony Callea. Also worth mentioning is that many of the songs are musicially interesting (often not the case with pop music) and his lyrics are written in a way that speaks to everyone: women, men, straight, gay. Some of the ballads are heartbreaking. Here's hoping we hear more from Anthony Callea!
ANTHONY HAS DONE IT AGAIN.......2007-04-02
I was greatly impressed by Anthony's first CD album and said so in an Amazon review. This CD emerged late in 2006 and, while it has sold well in Australia, it has not done nearly as well as the earlier album. That's a pity because this is a more interesting and more mature work. It has been composed largely by Anthony and the melodies, lyrics and sound textures are always impressively professional. Anthony, a pop singer if ever there was one, even ventures towards some rock textures in some of these songs, "Addicted to You" for example, and he gets away with it. Anthony's voice is as rich and strong as always. The CD is beautifully presented with excellent photography and art work. 2006's AUSTRALIAN IDOL winner, Damien Leith, is like Anthony in many ways and will give Anthony a run for his money on the Australian charts. But that is good, both for the artists and for the industry. So long as Australia has artists of this calibre producing material of such quality and interest we are fortunate. Also, so long as AUSTRALIAN IDOL gives a boost to artists such as Damien and Anthony long may the show prosper.
Amazing.......2007-03-06
This is a amazing CD. The songs are some of the best pop rock I've ever come across. Anthony has a outstanding voice. He is better than most singers in the business right now. He has a very strong and powerful voice. This is a superb CD.
The stand out tracks are: If Only, There's Always Time, Almost, Want You To See, Standed, and Perfect Mistake.

CN's best album since Chapter III.......2006-07-22
I've been a Celestial Navigations fan since 1989. The huge delay between the release of Chapter IV and this album, had almost caused me to believe that Chapter V would never surface. Thankfully, that fear was unfounded, and I thought Chapter V to be the best CN release since Chapter III.
One thing that differentiates Chapter V from almost all the rest, is the backing music. Mr. Lewis's signature voice is in solid, if somewhat elderly form, but the music is largely cinematic in quality, with string orchestration and other additions which show how far CN's production ambitions have come since the synthesizer-laden classic, Chapter I.
Which is not to say that synth never appears on this album. "Arranger 5" is both amusing and classic, in that it features Mr. Lewis' quirky wit and nothing BUT synthesizer. But other tracks, such as "Sub and the Bull" and "Letters from the Revolution" feature backing music that seems to be pure orchestra; and much appreciated pure orchestra at that.
As with previous CN albums, Lewis is not pulling any punches, in terms of loving the American Experiment or infusing tracks like "Santa" with an honest adoration for Jesus Christ. Far from New Age, Chapter V is more like a return to the country age, when neighbors sat with neighbors on the front porch, communities pulled toghether for the good of the community, and one could place his hand over his heart and recite the Pledge without being accused of warmongerism, jingoism, nationalism, or any of the other tired -isms.
Touching, thought-provoking, Chapter V is thoroughly in the spirit of the previous four albums, and all I could say after hearing this one is, "I can't wait for Chapter VI!"
Review - Celestial Navigations.......2006-02-01
Just as with their other albums, CN hits the spot with their newest offering. I know of no other spoken word albums with such vivid and descriptive passages.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent edition of this CD, well worth the investment.......2006-12-13
I originaly purchased the single disc of this new for 6.48 from a local store the day of the release. Soon after I found myself really liking this album, and I had the chance to pick up the expanded edition with the bonus DVD for a steal new (15 bucks), and it was worth it. The hour long dvd trails staind through the recording and promotion of this album, and has a lot of insight and background into the making of this band. Also, the bonus tracks like Novacaine, Let it Out, and the fan favorite beatle juice song make the CD itself a great addition to the collection. The book/case has excellent expanded artwork and liner notes. A must have for a staind fan!!!
The best that Staind has to offer is here!.......2006-01-21
I have purchased all of Staind's albums and am in the process of purchasing all their single's releases through Amazon.com. Staind is now number 2 behind Lifehouse as most listened to artist in my extensive musical library. 'Chapter V' is the limited edition CD with a bonus enhanced DVD. I will discuss both CD and DVD separately. Staind has been around since 1995 and in the decade since their birth they have matured as a band through experience and gaining wisdom in the cut-throat music industry. Aaron Lewis as the frontman/lead vocalist of this 4 man band has such a powerful and amazing voice. The song topics are excellent and based and rounded on today's societies issues and pains. Staind is J. Mysocki, A. Lewis, J. April & M Mushok.
The CD/DVD comes enclosed in a book version with a full written history of the band from 1995 to present. Also each page has thoughts from different members of the band and reasonings behind the songs as well as full song lyrics for all well-known Staind songs. The booklet covers the 5 CD releases as well as pictures from tours and live concerts and promotional materials and posters. This is truly amazing and I am in awe of this booklet.
Secondly the DVD is packed with bonus material that will make any devout Staind fan happy. I thoroughly enjoyed the DVD and it was lengthy and full of band trivia, and interviews with each member of the band individually as well as a group. The documentary went for a bit over 30 mins and shows the everyday life of the band and what they do for a living. It shows how each member has to make sacrifices on the tour road but also reveals how they love performing for the fans. The end of the documentary was very touching where it cut to Lewis at the back of one of the concert stage rooms and he thanked the fans for their loyalty and said this fighting back tears. Staind is a group that are still grounded and show loyalty to the fans. The DVD also shows a full video of 'Right Here' at one of the concerts in Boston. And live perfomances of 'It's Been Awhile' & 'Falling'. This DVD is a must for any Staind fan - it gave me a smile and made me realise how STAIND is such a wonderful group and only made me strengthen my support and love of the band.
The CD covers the 12 songs of 'Chapter V' including the hit singles 'Right Here' and 'Everything Changes'. For me the songs of 'Falling' and 'Cross To Bare' are my favourite songs of this album being sung at a highly emotional level by Aaron Lewis. However what stands out on this CD is the 5 bonus songs that are included. I was excited when I learnt of the bonus songs and listening to them I am not disappointed but very stoked. The bonus songs included 'Let It Out' a cover for Peter Gabriel's hit song, 'Novocaine' a rare song by Staind that was until now just a demo. 'Reply: Original Version' this song is better than the album version and quite different as well. I find listening to this song it has helped me clear my head and the song beat is soothing and yet vibrant. 'Its Been Awhile' is acoustically sung by Aaron Lewis who also does guitar. 'This Is Beetle' is also a rare song from demo stage that is acoustically driven. Excellent songs and I listen to these bonus songs regularly.
In summary, Staind has excelled again in another release with 'Chapter V' ensuring that this is just another brilliant stepping stone for this talented band. Long live Staind!
Number Five is Alive.......2005-12-29
I'm a big fan of today's rock, and Staind was one time one of my favorites. When I heard their first mainstream album "Dysfunction," I was mightily impressed. With my hopes high, I very much anticipated "Break the Cycle," and it was a decent album. Nothing spectacular. The rebound I hope for in "14 Shades of Grey" disappointed me so much I threw it away. That optimistic pish-posh is NOT Staind.
Enter "Chapter V"; though it is no "Dysfunction," the band is definitely back on track. It's not perfect, but the album has a solid to-hell-with-pop feel, and fans need to rejoice in this.
Song breakdown (out of 5 stars):
1. Run Away...3 stars... melodramatic and yet snappy. Slightly above average.
2. Right Here...4.5 stars... it's pop-oriented, yes, but I still think it's a song for the Staind fans who've stayed with them over the years. We're still "right here waiting."
3. Paper Jesus...3.5 stars... heavier (though no Lewis screams disappointed me), but "the reason for your anger" (chorus) is what all of Staind fans need of this band. I can see a lot of the new Staind fans hating this song. Kind of like "A Flat" from Dysfunction.
4. Schizophrenic Conversations... 5 stars... wow... Think of "Outside" paired with "Me" (from Dysfunction). About looking at two sides of a coin, and just how difficult it is.
5. Falling... 3.5 stars... the second single off the album, it's like "Fade" meets "Home." Good riffs - much like any track on Dysfunction - and a kickin' chorus, but the lyrics in between are a bit lacking.
6. Cross to Bear... 4 stars... heavier, chunkier. the salt to "Right Here"'s pepper, this is about leaving when things go awry (compared to the first single's waiting around).
7. Devil... 5 stars... my favorite song on the album. It's about two people who have reached their end, finding the other person at fault - they are the devil, and they know the other feels that. So sad, so intense. This song really twists off the cap and let's it loose, like Bush's "Alien" or Pearl Jam's "Jeremy."
8. Please... 5 stars... simply awesome. I think this will be the fan favorite from the album. It's about learning the faults of some one and getting disgusted with them; the chorus is "tell me please, who the f*** did you want me to be?"
9. Everything Changes... 3.5 stars... Acoustic, slow, but upbeat about a drab topic. Your typical Staind filler song. I think this will be the next single. It's good, just not as amazing as the two songs preceding this track.
10. Trippy / Take This... 2 stars... You'll like this if you need words to break up with your girlfriend/boyfriend, but it's far from "Trippy." Not a fan of this one. To blah.
11. King of All Excuses... 3.5 stars... A great grunge feel in the depths of this song. This type of song is the same thing as "Falling": good riffs, good chorus, terse lyrics in between.
12. Reply... 4.5 stars... I think this song is one of the best last songs I've heard on a CD. It's about a person who is making a lot of sacrifices for the other, but it's only "writing in vain." A solid track, but yet there's nothing spectacular about it - which is all a true Staind fan could ask.

Classic Dub for the "Coffee Generation".......2005-07-29
This is another one of those discs that remind me of Miles' "On The Corner". I envision Bill Laswell walking around NYC/Brooklyn with this music playing in his head. As someone familiar with the original versions, it's hard not to see his fingerprints all over these tracks. Their essence is not lost, yet they're a little more what? Post-modern (whatever that means)? Urgent? Urban? Well, a little more Laswell.
laswell+ old school= classic dub, psychonavigated.......2005-05-30
for fans of the original music here dont be afraid these are not complete reworkings of these songs but a mer glimpse into what the future of recording has provided. Their is no bass playing of laswell or added members to the session, just laswells beautifle filtering echoeing and blipps ocassinally from time to time some more strong in others some almost unnoticable to those unfamiliar to the original. The songs sceem to go almost in order from oldest to newest or so as it sceems. Chapter 1 definetelly sceems to be older and deffinetelly has less of laswell's digital tough. The recording also are still verry original sounding verry raw but remastered as best as they can at turtle tone. In saying that i do prefer chapter 2 to 1 the songs are better flowed better technology more effects and more integrated style. And song 11 sounds ecatelly like laswell is playing bass. 14 on chapter 2 will also blow your mind. Their are also a lot more dub vocal bits, while chapter 2 is vurtually vocal less. i cant help it i enjoy what technology has brought us in the now, everything is so much clearer and digital effects and sound such as keyborads have become 100% more efficient and reliable. but i do always respect what the past has brought us but i dont live in the past i learn from it and strive foreward. dont be afraid of the future.
For a tiny island of three million people Jamaica has had a thoroughly disproportionate effect on the course of popular music around the world; dub, re-mixes, electronic effects and especially notable nowadays-rap music all began in Jamaica... (Chris Blackwell's introduction to Reggae Explosion: The Story of Jamaican Music)
Born out of the need to create a B side without doing more recording, dub arrived as version, effects added, vocals removed and delayed with bass and drums pushed hard to the front. The birth of an alien music, where the distinction between played instruments and sound effects collapse in a stream of sonic matter... the evolution continues, transported from the mighty Trojan catalog and re channeled by producer/musician Bill Laswell. TROJAN: DUB MASSIVE (CHAPTERS ONE and TWO) take on new dimensions in sound, mythic personages abound, with electronic effects pushed to the limit, detonated rhythms exploding into vapor space, haunted bass lines pulsing and swelling to the point of spilling out over the music, detailed layers of malfunctioning circuits flicker in waves of relentless attack, all elements fused and coiled for ascension, leaving the earth without leaving the roots... Ritual-Audio Culture... An African sci-fi myth-system, the soundtrack for interplanetary escape, postindustrial design at it's most dangerous. it's clearly Bill Laswell's presence that gives this project it's obvious differences- the size, the detail, the pure sonic impact of the sound-scape. A pioneer of re-mix culture and veteran of over seven hundred recording projects. he has been closely connected to the world of dub simulations from his beginning, creating his own dub sampling CD in the nineties (Sound Virus- Dub Tactic Manual). He has shared a close working relationship with Jamaican rhythm engine -Sly and Robbie for twenty years. he's created Yellowman's `Strong Me Strong', the first bass heavy Jamaican track to fully incorporate current (1983) studio technology and made Dub Meltdown with Root's Radic's drummer Style Scott for Brooklyn's Word Sound Imprint. He has worked with Chris Blackwell (Island, Bob Marley, U2) since the early eighties, together they created the AXIOM imprint through Island records in 1989.
Bill Laswell- the first and so far on the only producer/re-director to take on full length album reconstructions by major artist on major labels... MILES DAVIS: PANTHALASSA, BOB MARLEY: DREAMS OF FREEDOM, CARLOS SANTANNA: DIVINE LIGHT, with incoming-Sony classical mix-translation and HERBIE HANCOCK: TECHNOVOODUASTRAL BLACK SIMULATIONS. Endless re mixes and re-constructions have been realized, many baring the mark of dub. TROJAN DUB MASSIVE is an other worldly music, full of mystery and tension, surprise, dark and light, futuristic technologies/tribal culture, the ultimate science fiction soundtrack.
In fact science fiction as already recognized and incorporated dub's dark sensibility... example - ... As they worked, case gradually became aware of the music that pulsed constantly through the cluster. it was called dub, a sensuous mosaic cooked from the vast libraries of digitized pop; It was worship, Molly said and a sense of community.... (Neuromancer by William Gibson)
When the lost tribes gathered on the hilltop, where knowledge is born, they found others like them who had already heeded the call. It was the trembling of the ground that brought them all there, and entering upon the source, they bathed in the glory of the mighty sound...(The Book of Dub Chapter 2, verse 30-32).

Well worth the money for a true fan.......2005-04-26
I love MMJ. They are one of the best and most underrated bands out there. This is a collection of their early stuff (95-97). Some of the recording quality is a little ruff but that is so easily overlooked when the songs are as amazing as they are. If you are a fan than you must buy this album, along with Vol. 2 of this collection.

Some Great Sounds.......2007-07-13
In agreement with another reviewer, I thought "Chapter V" was better than Threshold. With more epic sounds and better tracks, "Chapter V" just comes off as much punchier, faster and with more depth and richness.
The vocals on this CD seem much richer in substance and the tracks lack some of the "pop" feel of some of Hammerfall's other songs on the later CD. In addition, the back vocals are more consistent on this CD, not falling into some level of flatness. All of the tracks maintain a rich and varied quality.
The musical work on "Chapter V" is very tight and is simply well executed power metal, with all the fast and rapid changes, power chords and thumping percussions. It all works together to create a rich weave of sound that pretty much carries you along.
If you are going to buy Hammerfall, buy this CD. It is the better of what I have heard. It is still pretty garden variety, but for something requiring little grey matter to appreciate, it is good, solid power metal with some epic tracks to offer.
Another good one!.......2007-04-19
I like what I hear. I have not really listened to HammerFall, before. But, now I have 2 of there ablums. It's heavy stuff.
THE BEST POWER METAL ON THE FROZEN EARTH!!.......2007-02-04
This ranks along with GLORY TO THE BRAVE and CRIMSON THUNDER as one of my favorite HAMMERFALL albums. It's a carefully constructed anvil of straight ahead Power Metal!! It does have a slower feel, but every song is LOUD and POWERFUL!! Even the Ballads. The production values on this album rival CRIMSON THUNDER and surpass their BEST album, GLORY TO THE BRAVE.
Every track is great, but my favorites would be BLOOD BOUND and BORN TO RULE.
If you're looking to start a collection of Power Metal, Sweden's HAMMERFALL is the place to start!! THEY ROCK THE FROZEN NORTH!!
As well as the albums I've mentioned above, also get The Double Live album, ONE CRIMSON NIGHT and LEGACY OF KINGS. Hell, buy them all!! RENEGADE is GREAT too!!
Unfortunately, their lastest THRESHOLD is also their weakest. Avoid that one.
RAISE THE HAMMER!!
ENJOY.
Good metal .......2007-01-17
I took a chance on this from the 30 second clip. I was not disappointed. Good riffs and lyrics. Good rhythm and tempo. If you liked the older metal from the early to mid 80's, you'll like this(and I don't mean the hair metal).
Pretty darn good!.......2006-12-02
This is power metal make no mistake about that and for what it is, it's very good. It has all kinds of nicely played well arranged parts that flow together seamlessly. It really is nicely done. It's not ground breaking power metal, but it's good stuff . The mix is excellent as well which makes it even better in my books as I hate crappy mixes.
The only thing I could have done without was the Yelling/grunting/whatever you want to call it at the beginning of the last track, Knights Of The 21st Century. Ok already, enough with "the Prophecy argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hell yeah", we get it already!
This is a fine cd, so pick it up if you enjoy power metal, prog metal, 80's metal etc as I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
