Extraordinary .......2006-12-10

Rarely today will anyone hear such mastery of an instrument as difficult as the oud. This recording has both the beauty and clarity that one wants from such an instrument and the excitement one expects from dance music. As and American-born Assyrian/Armenian I was transported to times and places of my youth that involved weddings, picnics and other such moments of great joyousness shared with those not with us anymore. You will not be disappointed whether World Music is your thing or nostalgia for another time and place is important to you.

It s a very good cd from an exallent udi player. This music is like greek "rebetiko". "Hasaposerviko" is a popular greek dance. Probably some items of armenian music "survived" in Greek music.
If you like udi buy it. Thanks for your time

Armenian / Ethnic Music Fan.......2004-08-15

I happen to enjoy Middle-Eastern / Armenian music, and this one is REALLY enjoyable. My parents borrowed it recently when they had guests over, and it was a big hit. I usually listen to it as background music while I'm doing stuff at home or at work. The best thing is that all the songs seem to have their own personality and character (unlike some other ethnic CD's where many of the songs sound alike). There is a mix of instrumentals and vocals. I recommend it highly.

One of my fondest memories of childhood was dancing to this Armenian music at Armenian picnics. The music I grew up with--what could be better! I recommend this CD--very relaxing, clean sound.

I hate to bash my fellow Armenians, but this music is really not music from "Armenia". It is Kef music which was brought to the U.S. and other countries from historical Armenia ( Eastern Turkey)back in the early part of the 20th century. As a result, it is like big band music. This type of music is never played in Armenia today. That being said, there are a number of very good kef albums out there. This isn't one of them...It's stale and almost academic in approach. The vocals are really weak and there is nothing fresh or exciting about this recording. At the very least, the label should remove "music from Armenia" It should be bad kef "music from Armenian picnics in America"
