After the success of From Under the Cork Tree, Fall Out Boy earned the right to indulge their whims. Fortunately, their instincts tend to serve them well (not counting those infamous cell-phone photos). On their most adventurous album, Def Jam prez Jay-Z introduces "Thriller," while Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds produces groove-heavy hit "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" and "Thnks fr th Mmrs." A few new flourishes aside, however, like guitarist Joe Trohman's Metallica moves on "Thriller," the Chicago-bred band remains true to their punk-pop roots, even if vocalist Patrick Stump sounds like Mr. Sexyback on "This Ain't a Scene" and "I'm like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off (Me + You)." You can thank bass player/songwriter Pete Wentz for the unwieldy song titles. As he explains in "Fame
< Infamy," "I am God's gift / Why would he bless me with such wit without a conscience." Whether spicing up their recipe with R&B swagger or playing it straight, FOB are at their best when they crank up the volume. Hence, the piano-based "Golden" is the weakest track on an otherwise solid outing. Hey, maybe they just wanted to see what a stadium looks like bathed in the glow of a thousand lighters. Taking its title from a letter Vincent Van Gogh sent to his brother Theo ("Be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high"), Fall Out Boy's fourth seems likely to follow its predecessor into the platinum stratosphere. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

not music nothing nada and not even nada surf move along now people.......2007-07-22
the most overhyped album of the century next to chumbawumba and the titanic soundtrack. no creativity here and the music just plain is horrible, nonsense takes on a new meaning with these posers. Almost as bad as system of a down but dummer than justin timberlake. do not waste your money and if you want talent look elsewhere. hard to believe people even buy this junk.
To Infinity and Beyond.......2007-07-10
The follow-up to Fall Out Boy's breakout "From Under the Cork Tree" finds them infused with a new-found confidence and an arena rock cockiness. Fortunately for them, they manage to aim for the Stadium Nose-Bleed seats and succeed. From the opening braggadocio of their label Prez Jay-Z to the funky beats that undercoat "I'm Like A Lawyer..." (produced by none other than Babyface Edmonds) to quoting Leonard Cohen in "Hum Hallelujah," Pete Wentz shows he and his mates have no intention of playing it passive.
They also come up with hooks a-plenty. The slapping drum and bass that kicks "The Take Over The Breaks Over" is irresistible. The hit "This Ain't A Scene It's An Arms Race" will have you football cheering and stamping your feet in no time flat. There are so many memorable moments on this CD that pointing them out is beyond the point...they just craft themselves elegantly into each song. The Choir in "You're Breaking But You're No Wave" is probably my personal favorite.
Be that as it may, there are times when the band teeters close to smart-aleky. Especially the unwieldy song titles and frequent self-referencing. There is a touch of the clever-clever here that makes me wonder if the band can transcend "being poster boys for the scene" (as they sing in "Thriller") in the way My Chemical Romance did on "The Black Parade." But for the 14 catchy rocking tunes on "Infinity On High," Fall Out Boy show that they are hungry for more.
Besides, any band that can work both The Simpsons and Vincent VanGogh into their overall view is OK by me.
Skip this one.........2007-07-06
Just buy the singles that you like on the radio. This album is crap. I dont know why they put JayZ in there and most of the critical reviews on amazon pretty much summed it up. I really believe some people are frocing themselves to like this album.
Sellouts?....No. Dissapeared off the radar?....uh no. Follow up to a great debut?....Yes!.......2007-07-03
What can I say? I love this album to death! I've been a FOB fan since early 2005. Now that's not reeeeally a long time, since that's when they kinda started to get noticed. I wish I was there from the start, but personally, if you didn't live in the Greater Chicago area, I think maybe that would have been a bit hard. (Hey. I might be TOTALLY wrong).
Anyway. Great hooks, Great melodies, Great lyrics (which don't really have a "plot" or "story" to 'em, but hey who cares!). One million out of ten. And will ALWAYS be in my top 3 albums ever.

High School Musical : The Songs.......2007-06-13
High School Musical Special Edition CD $12.98
Did you like the High School Musical movie? If so, try the soundtrack! It's the same great songs, singers and fun. Every song (there is eleven) is the same as in the movie except now there is a chance for you to multi-task while enjoying the same singers from the film. Some include Mathew Gerrard, Ray Cham, Adam Watts, Faye Greenberg, Jamie Houston and Kevin Quinn. I really enjoy these songs because they describe what is going on in the movie. For example: when Troy is playing basketball (Get'cha Head in the Game), Ryan and Sharpay's callback song (Bop to the Top) or when Troy and Gabriella meet each other (Start of Some thing New).
I really enjoy these songs. I have memorized each and every one of them and sing along when I listen to this CD. Every song has a catchy tune, so soon, you'll be singing along too. With a High School Musical soundtrack, you can even sing along when you watch the movie. My favorite song is "When There was me and you". It is when Troy and Gabriella don't think they should go to callbacks. Just a little bit after this song they decide to go to callbacks.
I recommend this soundtrack for those who like the movie, High School Musical. The songs are a mix of upbeat, sad or just plain silly. Everyone will enjoy these just as much as they liked they movie. Those who haven't seen the movie will want to see it after listening to this soundtrack.
thought it was a TRUE karaoke version.......2007-06-02
Having already owned the original movie soundtrack, I purchased the "karaoke" version to use with my middle school choir for "We're All in This Together". My idea of a karaoke song is background music only (instruments, not vocals.) It wasn't until I listened to the cd that I discovered that the song included ALL background chorus vocals. The only thing left out were the solos by the main characters. Quality was fine, content was disappointing.
Very good.......2007-03-31
This is a very good soundtrack for a very good movie. The first disc is the original soundtrack and the second disc is karyoke versions of most of the songs.
Not my choice if you're looking for a karaoke cd.......2007-03-29
This version of hsm is a two disc set. The first is a "regular" cd of the hsm soundtrack. The second is a "bonus" karaoke disc. I give the regular disc gets 5 stars but the karaoke disc gets about 2 stars. Why? Well, it only has instrumentals. Most CD+G discs out there (certainly ones meant for kids) have, say, the first 8 tracks instrumental and the next 8 tracks with vocals. My kids (and most others I know) prefer to sing along with the artist. So if you're just looking for a HSM cd, buy this one. If what you really want is a good karaoke cd, buy the Disney karaoke series cd (red and yellow cover, must say cd+g).
Great CD for Kids - and Parents Too.......2007-03-22
Hi Parents - This CD is great. I bought this for my 4 & 5 yr old daughters. This CD is good for kids because it is a change from the typical kid songs that you hear all the time, yet does not have the adult language of popular youth songs today.
The songs are pretty catchy and as a Dad of two daughters, I would even admit that some of the songs are enjoyable to listen too.
A great buy for the money!

Well done.......2007-08-03
I have some younger voice students who love this CD. I love the fact that they are actually practicing singing and performing to it. It is great that it has the feature of both vocal and music format.
Great CD, girls can duet with Troy!.......2007-07-10
My little girl and her friends are way into HSM and this karaoke CD is a HUGE HIT with all of them! They especially like the last track where they can do a duet with Troy. I love that all the songs are clean and the music sounds great. I find myself singing the songs all the time. It is great to have one CD with the musical version and the vocal version, kids can pick how they want to sing it. The words appear on the screen and in different colors for female/male vocals.
THIS is the version to buy.......2007-02-08
I almost made the mistake of buying a different version of HSM karaoke. There is a version out there with a gold cover and two discs; the first with the regular soundtrack (no karaoke) and the second disc with the CD+G karaoke BUT it's instrumental only. Not for me; my kids like to sing along with the main singer, not just to the instrumental version.
But THIS version (red cover, one disc) has both vocal and instrumental versions on one disc. Perfect. And perfect price. If there's a song missing, my kids haven't noticed. It really is very cute to see them sing along, and even my 5 year old who can't read yet knows the words. A fantastic addition to our karaoke collection.
This was a great buy.......2007-01-19
My kids were already going all over the house dancing and singing the songs. This just gave them a instumental to follow. They have had a blast and I have to confess I have even given it a try a time or two...or more. I love that the songs are clean and suitable for my youngest to oldest child.
can't get it out of my head!.......2007-01-19
ok, so the songs get stuck in your head...over & over & over! but hey, it's still a cute, family friendly movie with a pretty good message- the songs are fun to sing along with on your karaoke machine!

Customer Reviews:
lacking heart and real emotion.......2007-08-02
first of all, i would like to state that i am a fan of musical theater, thats not my problem with HSM. from the classics by rogers and hammerstein to rock operas like Rent, to epics like The Phantom of the Opera. so the fact that people burst into song isn't my problem, my problem is the absolute absurdity of the story and the terrible mtv regects that serve as the music.
the story line alone is enough to make one cringe. however, a loose plot is something that musicals are known for, so i can overlook the lack of coherance. the biggest problem to me is, well the music. the music lacks heart and emotion. im not saying that a musical needs to be filled with crooning ballads, i just want some kind of emotion. without true feeling, a musical tanks; as an audience we cant understand the depth that would push a character into song. the movie attempts emotion in a couple of places with great failure. "when there was you and me" feels like a cross between an after-school special and a bad britney spears song. "breaking free" lacks any weight of power since it has no context what so ever, its suppossed to be taken out of the show they are auditioning for. yes there are some subtle sub-texts but they fail too. the attempt at a hip-hop esque song ("getcha head in the game") just feels like selling out to try and appeal to a young group. the only showtune-y song is "stick to the status quo" which does ok musically.
worse than the songs are the performers. they all sound squeeky and/or nasaly. all in all, this musical is a complete pop sell out. it has no emotion that a musical needs, it is just bad pop music and the whole thing feels like a crappy music video. parents should steer clear of this one. if you want to get your kids some quality soundtracks, just look into alan menkens work for disney. it's not even fair to compare this trivial garbage with other musical works.
Um, I hate to burst the Zac Efron bubble..........2007-07-25
...But he doesn't ACTUALLY sing any of these songs. Just a few lines here and there. Look it up if you want to argue. You can tell the difference between his voice and the singer's voice. Just sayin'. I think they should have given credit to the guy who really sang the songs instead of making people think that Zac Efron sang them all. But then again, if all the little preteen girls knew that, they probably wouldn't have had their parents buy them the album. Ah, the great circle of lies.
Disney's new magic?.......2007-07-18
We all know about High School Musical. Jocky basketball star, shy bookish girl, both breaking the social high school rules of exploring their new, out-of-character love for music.
Ever since it hit Disney Channel a year and a half ago, it simply became another part of culture, going from a movie-musical to a concert, rerealeased CDs, special-edition DVDs, T-shirts, a stage production, a summer sequel, and all the singers became instantly famous.
In my area a theatre school gathered teens from local high schools to professionally preform HSM, and the show literally was an enormous sellout, an audience filled with six-year-olds and sixteen-year-olds. But what is it about HSM that is different that any other musical? Yes, it was on TV and publicized, but isn't Disney the same company that produced The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Tony-Award Winning smashes? I am not afraid to admit that HSM could not stand up next to The Lion King's talent and beauty. Maybe it's just the magic of Disney to be able to pull off songs that were pretty much pop-rock cliches and glamourize not-exactly-Broadway-worthy preformers.
So, if HSM wasn't as stunning as other shows, why 4 stars and how did this HSM phenomenon really happen? The story was good, about teens finding their way and discovering that "we're all in this together". It exposed many children to the magic of musicals, and hopefully inspires them to listen to showtunes, too. It's simply a fun, easygoing show, a movie I can sit down and watch just for kicks any time and not have to go to a theatre to see, and something every kid can relate to.
The success of High School Musical may have also helped spawn shows like Hairspray and Footloose to travel to the screen so those who aren't theatre buffs can still go enjoy a good show without the hundred-dollar ticket price. It may not have the wow of Wicked or the brilliance of Rent, but in a way I don't think it was meant to. HSM carries it's own unique beauty, which is why I guess I really can't compare it to Wicked, Rent, and The Lion King. It has its own special...magic.
It may just be the start of something new for Disney.
OVERATED!!!!.......2007-07-05
High School Musical is a good movie. But they can stop with the soundtrack. All you hear is "Were All In This Together". Yeah right, thats why Vanessa and Ashley fight over Zac. And Corbin wants the spotlight off of Zac and on himself. Just a weird and messed up Cast.
O.K., But not exciting........2007-05-24
This CD is good for High School Musical fans, but I got sick of the CD in a hurry. Not that it's bad, it just doesn't have anything new and exciting. If you're a fan may-be you should get it, but it's not outstanding. I did like lucas and and ashley's duets, and Vannessa's solo though. But it's not worth the money. Either you get it at an expensive music store, or you pay for it for half the price online, but have to pay a whole bunch of shipping and handling bills. Not worth it. May-be High School Musical 2 will have something better.

Amazon.com essential recording
In 1976, when the Eagles, Peter Frampton, and Heart ruled the rock airwaves, along came five scruffy young men (the lead guitarist was maybe all of 18 and dressed in a schoolboy's uniform) from Australia playing some of the rowdiest, hardest, dirtiest rock of all time. Screaming "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)," singer Bon Scott teased like a braggart. Sensing the rock community's growing dissatisfaction with bloated, epic-scaled bands, AC/DC were indeed a high-voltage act: their drummer nailed the beat with fury, their bluesy guitar riffs mutated into something metallic and sharp-edged, and Scott's vocals took the shrillness of early Robert Plant to a leaner and meaner place. "Live Wire" is one of the most electrifying hard rock songs imaginable, "High Voltage" and "TNT" are the musical equivalent of touching exposed nerves with a rusty fork, and "Jack" proves that white rock dudes can, contrary to popular belief, get down. Whew! --Lorry Fleming
Album Description
AC/DC's 1976 album digitally remastered and reissued in a special digipak plus a 16 page full color booklet containing all original album art, many unpublished photos, classic memorabilia and new 2003 liner notes. Epic.
Customer Reviews:
From The Land Down Under, they take it to the top!.......2007-07-11
After getting "Back in Black" a long time ago, I decided to check out a Bon Scott-era AC/DC album. Sure enough, it was "High Voltage". While it may not be remembered as much as "BIB", "High Voltage" shows that even when an album doesn't sell ten-million plus copies, it can still be awesome. Being AC/DC's first of many albums, this can tend to not get as much airplay or critical acclaim (because Heaven knows that the critics must have been outraged hearing this in '76!). However, the music rocks and this is actually one of AC/DC's best albums.
"It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)": A five minute opener filled with plenty of crunchy riffs, an excellent performance by Bon, and even a bagpipe solo! (The Young brothers and Scott were from Scotland.) An awesome anthem that gets things off to a great start.
"Rock and Roll Singer": The riffs provide an excellent groove, one of AC/DC's finest, and Bon delivers lyrics about living the dream of being a rock star. Another great anthem!
"The Jack": One of AC/DC's most immortal songs. This is a six-minute, vintage-styled blues song with so many double-entendres, it's brilliant! The whole song flows excellently, and I get a kick out of the ending!
"Live Wire": According to the booklet inside the album, this song kicked off concerts for years in their early career, and one can see why. This is also the second-longest song on the album with an amazing guitar solo by Angus Young, prefiguring those of his future.
"TNT": Ha! Probably even people who don't listen to AC/DC (and in this day and age, virtually every rock fan does) have heard this song. Love the guitar riff, it has a great groove, and you can tell Bon Scott had a blast singing them lyrics! An AC/DC staple even thirty years later, this is good-time rock and roll!
"Can I Sit Next To You, Girl": This song has an old-fashioned swing to it that gives a unique touch to the album. A cool song, this makes me think of what it must have been like going to a high-school dance in AC/DC's time.
"Little Lover": Another blues-styled rocker very similar to "The Jack", but the lyrics are less double-entendre styled and more of those "I'm so in love with my lady!" lyrics, which make for a nice image, coming from Bon Scott's one-of-a-kind delivery.
"She's Got Balls": Such a title would bring up very strange confusion, and hearing them is another. Imagine hearing a twenty-year-old guy with shoulder-length hair and arm tattoos wailing, "The lady's got balls!/ She's got BA-A-ALLS!". Nevertheless, another great groove-rocker.
"High Voltage": More lyrics about being an independent and free rocker, you gotta love it! The riff is great, too, and sounds a bit like T. Rex's "Bang A Gong, Get It On" riff. Actually, I read that Malcolm Young was a fan of the band, so that makes perfect sense. An excellent way to close the album.
Overall:
"Rolling Stone" magazine said this was an "all-time low" in hard rock history when it first came out. Now, it's sold more than 3 million in the U.S. alone, and still boasts a handful of AC/DC classics! After having listened to this album for a long time, those critics couldn't be further from the truth! Anyway, the remastering on this album is excellent, the raw tone of the guitars is great, and this is an album that is sure to keep you interested. The only thing I would like to point out is that, compared to later albums, the remastering of the drums on this album is terrible! Hearing it on "It's A Long Way...", compared to songs such as "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)", or countless others, it could have used more work!
Anyway, with all things said and done, this is a great debut album from five guys that know rock and roll! If you like AC/DC, you're gonna love this album! Thanks for the time, catch ya later!
the beginning of an era.......2007-06-28

Not quite as good as Back in Black or Highway to Hell, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't own it.

The Begining Of A Legend.......2007-01-04
Ac/Dc are a band unlike any other. In a world of change this band has stuck to it's guns and has not changed no matter what the musical climate. Many critizize the band for this but I say it takes guts to believe in yourself that much that you don't care what your peers are doing. Look at what happened in the late 90s when grunge overtook the world,it would have been so easy for Ac/Dc to water down their sound to fit in but they never did.Right to the end they played the same high energy music with screaming vocals and searing guitars played to a blues rhythm. Many have tried to imitate them but no one has succeded because blues music (which is what this is based in) can't be taught or copied,it comes from the heart. Now,let me go on with the review of High Voltage in particular. This is one of the very best Ac/Dc CD's ever recorded.Other than Highway To Hell, this is the best Bon Scott fronted CD's ever.Every song is instantly memorable, and is also easy to sing along with.Starting with "It's A Long Way To The Top" which is the perfect opening song for a rock band,to the amazingly catchy "Rock N Roll Singer" to one of the greatest sing a long songs ever "The Jack" basically there is not a single bad song in the bunch.TNT and Little Lover are my personal favorites from this CD but there honestly is not one bad song. Many people have put this band down because Angus didn't play a million notes a second like Eddie Van Halen or Yngwie but Angus could say it all with 3 notes bent with feeling. Most guitar players out there don't understand that.Angus is a master of feeling.Ac/Dc is all about making the listener "feel" the music, not just listen to it. Many have also given negative reviews to Bon's vocals, sure he didn't have the highest range but he had something even more special,he had a very distinctive voice, when you heard an Ad/Dc song you KNEW it was him singing...to a lesser degree Brian Johnson carried on that tradition with Back in Black and beyond...it is crucial for a singer to be distinctive and Bon's voice fit PERFECTLY with this music. This is a true masterpiece, not just for all fans of hard rock and metal but for fans of rock and roll period, because while it does have it's heavy moments it also has lots of rhythm and blues and a lot of soul.Absolutely you should buy this CD.
The upside:A great CD,filled with catchy songs, the highlights are "Tnt" "Little Lover" "The jack" "High Voltage" "It's A Long Way","Rock And Roll Singer",and "Live Wire" (realizing I mentioned nearly every song, but that's seriously how good this is)
The downside:Ac/Dc never changes, for many this is a bad thing, you can ALWAYS know what to expect from them. You won't ever find a disco song or a rap song or a country song on an Ac/Dc album. There are no surprises. However,in my book that's a good thing. If you want great dancable rock and roll that you can sing along, you always know you can rely on Ac/Dc...aside from all the albums having the same style (which is good in my opinion) there are no downsides at all
The bottom line:Good time rock and roll at it's best.It won't make you think too hard,it's easy to remember and fun to sing along and dance to.You should run not walk to buy this, the donutman says so!!!

Despite not even charting in the band's native England, this album became a platinum-selling American hit on the basis of three enduring FM radio staples--the expansive, jazzy impressionism of the near-12 minute title track, and the more straightforward funk of the R&B charmers "Light Up or Leave Me Alone" and "Rock & Roll Stew." Those disparate tracks perfectly underscore Traffic's rich musical appeal and its restless, sometimes problematic creative and interpersonal relationships. With now thrice-departed Dave Mason out of the mix and percussionists Jim Gordon and Reebop Kwaku Baah participating in the studio for the first time, the band's innate musicality truly takes wing. Winwood's familiar vocal phrasings nearly take a backseat to his fluid, dramatic guitar work on "Rock & Roll Stew Roll" and "Many a Mile to Freedom," while the Tull-ish, folk-madrigal sensibilities of "Hidden Treasure" and "Rainmaker" are further punctuated by Chris Wood's deft flute and woodwind flourishes. Compared with the more organic John Barleycorn album, the contrast is all the more remarkable. While many contemporary bands were experimenting with various attempts at fusion, few achieved this collection's rock-jazz-folk-R&B range or level of often subtle sophistication. Digitally remastered, this edition also contains the six-minute-plus U.S. single version of "Rock & Roll Stew, Parts 1 & 2" as a bonus track. --Jerry McCulley

"Many A Mile To Freedom" but a short click can get you the remaster W/a bonus!.......2007-07-21
As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various music supplies and recordings from the 60's and 70's.
Released in February 1971, "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" would enthrall the listener for the duration of the forty-minute journey. It wasn't another record to play but one to study, digest, and rarely file away.
From the opening notes of the beautiful "Hidden Treasures" Traffic had captured our attention. As they commandeered the ride, nobody was looking to escape. The title track is twelve minutes but the message lasts forever. Remember the first time the lyrics hit you between the eyes without warning?
The percentage you're paying is too high priced
while you're living beyond all your means.
And the man in the suit has just bought a new car
from the profit he's made on your dreams.
"Rock And Roll Stew" changes the direction. The tune is upbeat and full of power and passion. With a great mix, you can enjoy Winwood's tremendously tasty guitar.
"Many A Mile To Freedom" isn't only track four of the recording but one of the most overlooked songs of the era. The lyrics are delivered with the skill of a master artisan and the music blends flawlessly. If your original vinyl copies had holes in the grooves, you were not alone!
"Light Up Or Leave Me Alone" is well constructed. The musicianship is clearly detected. Although Dave Mason wasn't part of the session, the band took anything but a defeatist attitude.
"Rainmaker" unfortunately is the finale. The lyrics and music seem to create majestic visions. Listen intently to understand how Chris Wood enhances the recording.
The remaster with the bonus track gives you the single version of "Rock And Roll Stew." Call it a midnight snack after a 5 Star meal.
Enjoy the music and be well,
Craig Fenton

Low Spark, high marks.......2007-05-18
Always a pleasure to listen to. This is an album which ages gracefully, and the instrumentals are always a pleasure. Those guys really were wonderfully musical and extremely talented.
Original Albums.......2007-05-11
Ever order a "Best of..." or "Greatest Hits of..." album or set and found yourself totally bummed out. Some musicians seem to produce albums that are more like works of art that can be only viewed/heard in their entirety. In cutting them up and reeditting, they loose too much. There are a lot of examples and this album I believe is one of them. If you want "Traffic" as part of your classic rock music library, buy this album.
one of the great things about 1971 was this album........2007-04-10
1971 was a fine year in music, indeed. "sticky fingers," by the rolling stones, the fourth led zepplin album, rod stewart's "every picture tells a story," "who's next," by the who, gene clark's white light album, john prine's debut, the doors "LA woman," and this great album, traffic's "the low spark of high-heeled boys." folk-rock, prog-rock, prog-folk, this album is hard to categorize. there's some jazz fusion in here, too. in fact, several musical passages have a feeling that's similar to the textures employed by miles davis on his classic albums "in a silent way," and "bitches brew." the album starts off with the haunting enchantment of acoustic guitar and flute on "hidden treasure." it's a beautiful folk melody and sets much of the tone for what will follow. the title track is an epic prog-rock piece with surreal lyrics that starts with a saxophone intro and builds steam slowly, intently. piano chords and notes drop in on this track that very much resemble the miles davis work i mentioned. dreamy instrumental passages stretch out the landscape, making this a long, gorgeous song. great music. track 3, "light up or leave me alone," is a song with a funky beat and some hot guitar. it's followed by the bluesy rocker, "rock & roll stew." "many a mile to freedom," is a folk-rock anthem, sporting an outstanding percussion track, on which flute and some more great guitar drift. "rainmaker," has a hypnotic percussion track that the rest of the instruments ride on, as well. it's an entrancing song, and a great finish to a great album. a must have for all rock and roll collections.
The Best of the Best.......2007-01-11
This is the best "traffic jam" you'll ever encounter. Good old get-up-on-your-feet rock and roll. This could be one of the best albums of the early '70's. Excellent musicians, great music, well produced.

Customer Reviews:
Don't worry, Corrs fans....IT's GREAT!.......2007-07-27
Despite reservations expressed by certain Corrs fans who wouldn't be satisfied with anything short of an annual re-issuing of "Talk On Corners", and the out-to-lunch, pathetic, irrelevant pop press, who have reviewed Andrea's clothes, hair, nieces and nephews, movie roles, friendship with Bono, everything EXCEPT the songs on this record, make no mistake: "Ten Feet High" is a FANTASTIC achievment. You'll love it. Great songs and great performances.
All the doubts, and snide remarks, are the same ones that accompanied the original releases of "In Blue", "Borrowed Heaven", and, yes, even "Talk On Corners". Go back and read the original reviews, and you'll see.
This is a great album. As soon as Atlantic USA gets its act together and puts it in American stores, the long overdue Corrs revival will be on in the states. Andrea has done the family proud, and next year there will be a new Corrs album and tour.
For now, songs like "Ten Feet High", "Shame On You", and "Anybody There" represent not only songs good enough to be on ANY Corrs album, they are the best work done by ANYONE so far this year.
Way to go, Andrea.
someone please call Jim, Carolyn, and Sharon, ...fast!.......2007-07-22
I have been a long time Corrs fan and natually had to purchase this disc. If you are someone who was a Corrs fan and am considering to experience a small piece of essence of that work from this release, you will be very disappointed. Gone are the beautiful melodies of the group, the passionate solo vocal work of Andrea. Perhaps it is the new direction/genre she has taken, electro pop/whatever, but in the Corrs work it seemed as Andrea was required to stretch her vocals, or maybe the subject matter of Ireland's struggles assisted to provide a better vocal platform. I found the vocals on this release, lazy and very flat.
Great album.......2007-07-21
I think her debut album is awesome. It's nice she broke from what was expected with a vengance. Each song is like a little story and it makes the whole album just fit together. I think it is a wonderful album and each song is great-You will want to listen to over and over again.
A nice new direction for Andrea!.......2007-07-15
Andrea Corr was the lead vocalist of the Irish family quartet, The Corrs, and "Ten feet high" is her solo debut.
Produced by Nelle Hooper (Garbage, Björk, Madonna, U2, Soul II Soul), and executive produced by Bono (both of whom are the reason I gave it a listen, and eventually got it), it comprises a few Corrs style pop/folk songs, but mainly steers Andrea in an electro pop direction, a welcome change as I feel the Corrs sound had gotten rather tired.
Opening the disc are two upbeat pop songs; the marching feel of "Have a nice day", and the piano sprinkled "Anybody there".
Lead off single "Shame on you (to keep my love from me)" is available in two versions; a more atmospheric, stripped down version, and a dance edit which closes the disc. The lyrics tell the tale of a lover missing his/her partner who has gone off to war.
Staying on the upbeat side of things are "24 hours", and the excellent throbbing club song "Take me I'm yours" with buzzing and swirling synths, it's a cover of a Squeeze song and is one of my favourites.
Standouts however are the downtempo songs; the lullaby-like "I do" (complete with tinkling bells), "Ten feet high", "Champagne from a straw" (nice choppy feel with a great sax break), the delicate acoustic/piano ballad "This is what it's all about" (another favourite of mine), "Stupidest girl in the world" (nice piano set to hip hop beats), and the wistful folk feel of "Ideal world" with lyrics looking at different life situations - family, loneliness, low self esteem.
It does take a few spins to grow on you but a nice debut from Andrea Corr.
Excellent Debut.......2007-07-08
If you are expecting songs just like the Corrs did, forget it. This album won't be for you. Andrea is showing us a much bolder side as she steps out on her own with this album: an excellent step in the right direction for Andrea.
I enjoy the wide (VERY wide) variation in music, showing that she is not limited to any one or two formulas. I love the quieter songs that willingly expose the flaws in her voice; it makes her more human and the songs that much more personal. Too much pop these days is expected to be perfect, even at concerts. Andrea brings us the human side, with a LOT of personality here.
Admittedly it took a few listens for it to really grow on me. At first I was very unsure, but now I can't stop listening. One issue I do have with the album is that the vocals can sometimes get lost in the music a bit too easy, making it hard to understand.
I look forward to more of Andrea in the future.

With a voice like Stevie Wonder, a production sound that recalls the string-laden, slinky-bass disco of Studio 54, and a penchant for funky dance moves and outlandish hats, Jamiroquai's Jay Kay has successfully managed to straddle the underground and mainstream for the best part of 15 years. High Times brings together 19 of his band's hits to date, ranging from early 90s acid jazz classics "When You Gonna Learn," "Too Young To Die," and "Blow Your Mind," to later successes such as "Canned Heat," "Cosmic Girl," "Virtual Insanity," and on to recent songs from 2005 album Dynamite, such as "Feels Just Like It Should" and "7 Days In Sunny June." There are also two new tracks--the current single "Runaway" and the edgier "Radio," both of which continue the Jamiroquai tradition of mildly euphoric dancefloor disco-soul. Despite sticking to a formula of sorts over the years, the songs on this collection compliment each other well and form an impressive overview of one of the UK's most distinctive bands. --Danny McKenna

Even better than expected!~~WOW!.......2007-06-22
I am so glad I bought this CD with JAMIROQUAI's best hits (and plus some "extra" bonus songs are included).
If you like the sound of a sort of combo "jazz-rock" Cd then this is the one for you. JAMIROQUAI is a great band. It`s hard to truly define their sound, but whatever it is ,... it's GREAT!
As I said before, this band is a combo jazz-rock with a bit of alternative thrown in. The lead singer is AMAZING! The other band players are absolutely amazing too.
If you get this Cd, you wont be able to stop your feet from twitching to their beat. FUN!!!!!!
PS: if you have seen NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE then you will recognize track # 11!!---LOVE IT, and so will you!
One Of The Best Compilations.......2007-06-09
Jay K is a musical genius, and, this compilation cd proves it. My nineteen year old borrowed this cd, to put on his Ipod. That made me feel so cool.
Two new GREAT songs!.......2007-04-22
This review is written for the fans. You have all of the other songs on this album, but why buy the CD? The two new songs are AWESOME! I am especially a fan of "Radio" - it is the sexiest tour de force about a threesome ever made. Granted, I am NOT into threesomes, but there is something about Jay singing, "Three's not a crowd, I'm a man, I'm a man". This song totally turns me on. Get yourself into the mindset before listening to it. Then, "Runaway" is just a great song, nothing hidden, no secret messages - just a great song. I can't wait for what they (or just Jay) comes up with next. Yes, you can download the songs "elsewhere", but give Jay and the band the benefit of the doubt and fork out the bucks for this album - it's a winner - and while you're at it, get the video DVD too, it rocks and has some videos that are hard to find. ENJOY!
Amazing Band.......2007-03-12
I first noticed Jamiroquai when MTV was playing the Virtual Instanity video from Traveling Without Moving. I was first blown away by the video itself because I am not the type of person who can watch a video repeatedly unless it is extremely unique. I was secondly surprised because a lot of white singers don't sing like that in America. Jay Kay has one of the most unique and soulful vocals I have ever heard. I was finally blown away by the band itself. After doing some research, I purchased Traveling Without Moving and every album before it. I also purchased every future album. It was interesting listening to how they changed over the years. I still don't understand why America has not embraced this band on a larger scale. This band has given me another outlet of music to listen to outside of Rap, R&B, and Neo-soul. Thank you for a breath of fresh air.
I know you already have all of their songs. . .just buy this anyway........2007-03-10
With the exception of the people who bought "Traveling Without Moving" when "Virtual Insanity" became a mainstream hit, there are very few, "Middle-of-the-road" Jamiroquoi fans. This means that if you're like myself, you probably already own all of their albums. Ergo, you probably already have many or all of the songs on this album. Let me say this however, having all the hits all in one place, on one disc, and even further, remixed is in of itself the reason to buy this album. They also included (I think) three new or previously unreleased tracks. The crappy thing about some 'Greatest Hits' collections is that groups ususally include songs that "they felt" should have been greatest hits, even though they weren't. This album shins that approach. Rather, Jay Kay (lead) demonstrates his connection to his audience by choosing the RIGHT songs for this collection. It rocks.
What's also crazy is that I really can't believe that I've been listening to Jamiroquai for 14 years. Have I gotten that old?
5 Star rating = I promise you will enjoy this product. No regrets.
