About the Artist
SINGING AGAIN - AVAILABLE FOR VIETNAM VETERAN REUNIONS AND SHOWS. WE WERE THERE FOR YOU IN NAM AND WE ARE HERE FOR YOU NOW - PERFORMING THE MUSIC FROM THE 60's and 70's.

Linda and Jeanie Carpenter had a dream to be of service to their country during the Vietnam war. Their dream came true as The Hilltop Singers sang their way into the hearts of the servicemen in Southeast Asia bringing the coffeehouse music to them. I hope you enjoy our website and seeing the pictures from our shows.

Product Description
LIBERTY'S BELL - The girls sang this upbeat song in every USO show they did during the Vietnam War. You can just visualize American flags in abundance and spirits ever so high -- 'let their lives not be wasted nor their cause be forgot -- for the sound of freedom is the cause we have fought --.'.

WALNUT AND PEPPER - An emotional portrayal of an event shared by best friends. When love is true, it will transcend beyond.

SUZI - Written about Jeanie's motorcycle adventures from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast. All stories are true.

ONLY THE NAME - This song was written just prior to a millennium performance for the Vietnam Helicoptor Pilots Association in Washington DC. Featuring Jeanie's rich alto voice, the sweet harmony of Linda completes the sound that brings tears to the listener's eyes. The message is of an American soldier who had dreams of love, children, holidays and service to his country that all came to an end as his name is written on the wall and only the name remains of his life.

PIZZA PARLOR SINGER BLUES - A protest song (in jest, of course) from the times when we sang at the Village Inn Pizza Parlor in Roanoke, VA.

IN SPIRIT AT THE WALL - After our visit to the wall, Jeanie felt compelled to write more.

LONG WAY HOME - Just a look down a long path - searching for the comforting feelings of home.

SO WE'LL FLY - Was written just before going to Vietnam to surprise our friends and say goodbye to them. First song at the theater in Wellsburg, West Virginia, where we announced our upcoming tour.

SUNSHINE KEY AND SEAFOOD (CONCH FRETTIN') - My first Florida Keys song. Was written for Lower Keys seafood festival where the Conch Fretters and The Key Lime Pie Band were the entertainment. The bandstand was right beside the Old Milwaukee beer stand. All ya had to do was fall off the stage to get another beer.

SO HARD TO GO ON ALONE - Was written about Linda. Actually, it came about when Jeanie was singing in Steubensville, Ohio, and it was noticed that she did not sing in some places, then started as if nothing had happened. When asked, she said it was Linda's part. Of course, Linda wasn't there to sing it.

In Spirit At the Wall,Linda & Jeanie,Oasis,Upbeat and invigorating traditional folk songs and ballads sung by two women whose track record begun in their early childhood; a light Country touch.
