Editorial Reviews
Ana Rusness--High Plains Reader; June 21, 2001
“...Wagner's music does not deal with ordinary teenage crushes and deflating, disheartening circumstances...she has an air of optimism.

Product Description
Though still in her teens, Margot brings a unique world view to her songwriting from her time spent living and studying in France to her years as a dancer and actress—then she brings those experiences to life with deft compositional style and a clear, confident, shimmering voice. Her songs are articulate, mature and offer a youthful sophistication which spans folk and pop genres.

The songs on “Open Blue Sky” range from stripped-down reflective and intimate songs (“Coffee Cold,” “As In Autumn,” “Poetry On Newspapers”) to well-crafted full-band songs (“Ma Bohème,” “7:53,” “Some Words,” “Bring Back”).

5 out of 5 stars I wept..........2005-06-18

"Brilliant Sky, Infinite Sky" is wonderful; so is "Love Scenes;" but I bought this recording for the last piece, called "Morningsongs." The performance is incredible; the baritone soloist is one of the best I've heard. The piece is so full of passion and sadness and beauty that you will never forget it. I particularly love the middle movement called "Blue Animals." Kernis - a brilliant composer! - uses the chamber ensemble to its fullest capabilities, melding instrumental colors with vocal sounds and syllables to create a full and rich, yet intimate, texture. I checked this recording out at a university library and after hearing it immediately bought my own copy.

5 out of 5 stars Margot!.......2001-11-19

I met her in France two years ago, we were having a year abroad, she sang for us at a xmas party and at our end of stay camp... She's absolutely wonderful! I remember we told her "you have to make a cd!" and now I'm so happy she has done one! Tu es une chanteuse super Margot, continue avec ta musique!

5 out of 5 stars Margot's CD should get at least 6 stars.......2001-10-20

Margot's debut CD "Open Blue Sky" doesn't sound like a debut, but that of a seasoned professional. Her musicianship and vocals transcend her young age. All of these beautiful songs come from an 18-year-old woman. It's incredible. Her lyrics are deep and meaningful, and the music is a perfect match. Her vocal sound is comparable to Tori Amos, Alanis Morrisette and Jewel. She's quite a talent and we are sure to see and hear more of her in the near future. Her live show is also something to see. She takes her CD and cranks it up 10 notches higher in person. The way she plays onstage you can tell she is pouring her whole heart and soul into her music. She looks as though she is having the time of her life on stage. Like a kid in a candy store, Margot's face lights up when she plays. I highly recommend this CD to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars New and exciting.......2001-09-05

My friend saw Margot Wagner play live at her french camp, like the other reviewers. She reccommended this CD to me and now I know why. Her voice is strong and beautiful. Her singing is articulate and the music is very similiar to Shawn Colvin and Jewel. I enjoy this CD and would definitely suggest tuning in. The songs are real, the lyrics are easy to connect to and the singer is fabulous!

4 out of 5 stars French Camp Forever!.......2001-08-19

Margot Wagner gave a performance at a camp in MInnesota this June- then we listened to her CD EVERY SINGLE DAY! No one ever got tired of the songs- it's too bad she's not really well known yet, but i'm sure she will be very very soon...

5 out of 5 stars Open Blue Sky.......2001-08-03

I picked up this CD after seeing her live, and, I must say, this is one of the best CDs I have ever listened to. Her voice is extraordinary, and I would definately recommend this CD to anyone who likes artists such as Jewel, or Shawn Colvin, because her sound is similar to both. Margot Wagner is what I would call one of the great unknown. It's a beautiful album.
