From the Adirondacks to Ireland and Back...
Our summer vacations have been spent in the Adirondack Mountains where I grew fond of the traditional music played by the local musicians. Over the years the music and the people of the Adirondacks, for me, became similar to the music and people of Ireland. Many of the tunes seemed to be the same. They told so very similar stories. The history of the small towns of Irishtown, Minerva, and Olmstedville in the eastern Adirondacks were filled with stories of the Irish. These towns were the early 1900's enclaves of of Irish emigres who had found their way to a land that was amazingly similar to their homeland. Our trips through Ireland playing tunes and meeting the people, for us, tied together the Adirondacks mountain to the mountains of southwestern Ireland
These are the tunes that we have played and sung in the Adirondacks for for our Irish friends, tunes that we learned from them, and tunes that we wrote about our trips to both places.
There are four hidden tracks of actual recordings made at Irish seisuns.
