This demo CD is intended as a tool for the artist to establish new opportunities for performing. Influences include Brian Eno, Me'Shell NdegeOcello, and Beck, even though this CD sounds nothing like any of those artists. Trajectory is to remedy that gap in future projects by working with other artists.

Use this CD as a ticket to introspection and passion. Play it when you need your mood adjusted. Works like an old photo to remind yourself where you once thought you were going. Best while driving.

Album Description

During the late 90's Charlotte was the hot spot of activity in what has become the much lauded North Carolina hardcore scene. It was home to PRAYER FOR CLEANSING, FROM HERE ON, UNDYING and countless others. With all those extremely vital bands now defunct, THE DAMASCUS INTERVENTION has arrived to help carry the torch, thus lighting a path for the new breed of North Carolina hardcore. Like PRAYER FOR CLEANSING and UNDYING before them THE DAMASCUS INTERVENTION combine a vast array of influences and inspirations from metal, hardcore, a straight-edge ideology all the while experimenting with more emotionally driven guitar interplay. Over the last few years THE DAMASCUS INTERVENTION have been slugging it out in the trenches playing as many shows as possible throughout the South East and sharing the stage with such notable and diverse acts as: THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD, GLASS CASKET, MISERY INDEX, HASTE THE DAY, KILLWHITNEYDEAD, ARSIS, EXTOL, DEAD TO FALL, FIGHT PA! RIS, THE ACACIA STRAIN and EMBRACE TODAY. Their Tribunal Records debut, "Carefully Built | Carelessly Destroyed" was produced by Jamie King (BETWEEN THE BURIED & ME, BELOVED, GLASS CASKET, KILLWHITNEYDEAD, etc) as they felt he was the best person to help capture the intensity of their destructive live show. Besides the audio content found on "Carefully Built | Carelessly Destroyed" there is also an entire live set filmed in North Carolina. The video was filmed and edited by Blake Faucette of SERIES DVD fame and features 2 unreleased tracks not found on "Carefully Built | Carelessly Destroyed." The pits will keep getting bigger and the touring will never cease as THE DAMASCUS INTERVENTION plan to spread the word about the new blood flowing here in North Carolina's hardcore scene.

Let's look at The Damascus Intervention's record label, Tribunal Records, for a minute. A sports analogy seems most fitting here so that's what I'll use.

Killwhitneydead are at the forefront as any Tribunal follower would know, so they'd be the actual team. So if KWD is the team, then that would have to make The Damascus Intervention the mascot, the one who gets the fans into the game. From there you could go any number of ways as long as The Murdered is the next step.

With Tribunal pushing TDI so much it'd only seem likely for hopes to rise greatly and not be met. That doesn't happen though. TDI meet expectations and hopes on all fronts basically. This is an EP though so if this much fury is all packed in in 20 minutes, I'm sure the full length CD will be insane.

The best way I can describe TDI is if you were to take all the movie quotes and discernable vocals out of Killwhitneydead, you'd, in a sense, have The Damascus Intervention. The breakdowns are intense, there's excellent guitar experimentation, and the intense growling/bellowing vocals are all key ingredients in the stew that is TDI. The title track, Carefully Built/Carelessly Destroyed, steals the show. Breakdowns, a few whining guitar riffs, and amazing double bass drums catapult it to a hard to reach spot. There's not really much else to say about these guys, it's a worthy EP but it's way way way too short. However, if you're looking for nonstop riffage, unrelenting vocals, and insane drumming, look no further than The Damascus Intervention. If you want it cheaper though, Tribunal's website has it for ridiculously cheap. So yeah, TDI has immense potential so we can only hope they don't lose the fire that makes this EP what it is.

Beautiful and heartfelt songs.......2001-06-06

make this debut stick out from the crowd of worthy singer-songwriter fare. Elizabeth's voice, accompanied by her own piano playing, is the perfect setting to enjoy these lyrics. The simple description would be love-songs but Ms. Griggs goes deeper into relationships than the average. She either has a very thorough understanding of the human condition or is wearing her heart on her sleeve. These very effective and emotion packed lyrics and the melodies hint at a great artist in the making.
